Situated in the bustling Amersham Old Town High Street, V's stand out for me (there are lots of pubs, restaurants, cafe's to choose form in a short space!) as their food is freshly made on site, the homemade cakes are delicious and the service is always great. I work for a company on Badminton Court (few mins walk away) so they also offer 5% off for local businesses. I don't frequent a lot, but when I do it is brilliant. My company also use the catering business for meetings - which are always great as well - happy to take feedback on board for these as well which is good. Keep up the great work!

There are a few great cafes in amersham and this is certainly one of them. Both chincey and dappa with good food to boot. I’ve only been for breakfast but understand the roast is good too. Be warned the cafe is very small but worth calling past to see if they have a seat as they are mostly always busy.

Popped into V’s on a Sunday evening, hoping to grab something before closing time, only to find a rude man claiming to be the owner had already closed the shop. I brought 3 friends for lunch to V's on Sunday and we had a lovely afternoon. The food (3 roast beef lunches and 1 roast pheasant) were all delicious and the chocolate brownies with ice cream were a firm favourite! The 2 staff serving were so helpful and friendly and I had informed them that one of my guests wanted a gluten free meal and this was no problem at all. Highly recommended. Great atmosphere. This little, quaint cafe, in the heart of Old Amersham, is worth stopping at, especially on a cold day. Beware, there's probably only seating for fourteen people and that's cosy. The range of food is surprisingly wide from full Sunday lunch to eccles cakes and other goodies. The staff are friendly and service is not too rushed.

Had an excellent Sunday lunch in this quaint café/restaurant. Three course Sunday lunch was thoroughly enjoyable - fresh, well cooked food. Smoked fish tart to start, generous portion of roast beef and tasty veg, followed by a moist gooey chocolate fondant and ice cream dessert. All for around £18. Bring your own wine was also a bonus with a small corkage charge. Would definitely recommend this place.

As someone who works nearby, I’ve often called in at V’s kitchen for lunchtime sandwiches or jacket potatoes (both excellent, btw), but have only just tried them for a sit-down meal. At the suggestion of a work colleague, we decided to take a break from the norm and eat in, sampling the full menu. I ordered a lamb meatloaf stuffed with goat’s cheese with pomodoro sauce, and my colleague ordering the Welsh rarebit with poached eggs. Both arrived piping hot, good portions and delicious, and I will certainly be returning to try some of the other menu suggestions.

It was late afternoon and so I had a decaf latte and exceeded my expectations having had not very nice decaf coffee in other places. The food, cakes and sandwiches are amazing.... It is a bit of a shame when V is not there because the fillings are less, food is not as great quality eitherThe best thing about V's is the large sandwiches, filled with amazing fillings. I know that the piri piri chicken is a big hit. The cake slices they give you are absolutely massive. The price for a meal deal is amazing too. It used to be a lot cheaper at $5 which is a bit of a shame but it is good.I wish V was here everyday as it is certainly clear when she is not in the kitchen!Still nothing really to fault. Our first visit to V's was pleasant. A small menu, which is often a good thing in my opinion. We shared a bacon sandwich, sausage roll, quiche and salad, followed by a scone and tea for two. The food was all very tasty and enjoyable. The only downside for us personally was the rather intimate ambiance. It is a small cafe and the tables are very close together. We felt as though we had to whisper to one another. The other diners were possibly regulars and seemed to enjoy the intimacy, making conversation with us and others. All very lovely, had it not been our first opportunity to dine away from the children in ages, and wanting some time together :).

A little oasis in Amersham Old Town. No more than half a dozen tables so quite compact. Had full English breakfast there that was very good indeed (black pudding superb!) They will custom make to your choice and it’s home cooked. Huge pot of tea, service friendly. Toast on offer with jam but no sign of marmalade which was a tad disappointing – my error though, I didn’t ask! Bacon was crispy and had an exceptionally sumptuous flavour ..in all, everything cooked perfectly. They do light lunches too and it is an ideal pit stop for coffee and a cake. Astutely they have identified a gap in the market so if it's a boutique ambiance your after look no further!

This was a last minute mid week choice for lunch. Previously I thought it was just another coffee shop offering cakes and possibly a boring selection of sandwiches for lunch, however couldn't have been proved more wrong! Yes they do offers lots of cakes and sandwiches but there is also a varied and interesting salad selection to accompany the odd quiche/tart or homemade sausage roll. I wasn't expecting to be shown a 'specials' board... but was delighted to see some real gems on there. There was a nice range of hot and cold specials such as rare beef sandwich, fish finger sub, welsh rarebit and poached egg. Despite wanting hot food on a cold day...I was tempted by the smoked salmon, crayfish and avocado salad and I was not disappointed. It was a very generous serving, nicely dressed and seasoned well. There were plenty of tables available - but bear in mind the tiny restaurant only has about 4 or 5 tables at most. Going for a late lunch worked in our favour clearly as reading some other reviews it is hard to get a table it would appear! However there were still plenty of people coming in for takeaway lunch. So looks like business is doing well which is great. I love to support local businesses but so many come and go. I hope this one sticks around for a long time to come. The staff were friendly, courteous, knowledgable and above all welcoming. Very reasonably priced at £20 for two.

I tried to go into this cafe on my last visit to Old Amersham but every table was occupied. It's clearly popular and this time we telephoned ahead and booked. Even on a wet Saturday morning the place was well patronised - although the premises are quite small and easily filled. The coffee was strong and of excellent flavour. Unfortunately the scones were really poor - 4/10 on the Jarrold scale (regular readers of my reviews will understand what that means) - and I could perhaps be forgiven for suspecting that they were not that morning's bake (perhaps being asked if we wanted them warmed was a clue). Other members of our family opted for flapjack and bread pudding and reported them as excellent. It's a shame because V's Kitchen is well-located, has a lovely ambiance and has the potential to do much better. We probably shalln't go again.

Unfortunately the little one knocked one of the tea set displays and 2 plates smashed. The waitresses were lovely and we could have just left it but as decent human beings we asked if we could pay for the damage. They asked the manager/owner and she was quite rude. She made us feel very intimidated. She said they would be £10 each, so we paid and we didn't even get a Thankyou or a reassurance. The most noticeable thing about it is the warm greeting we received on entering. We were greeted as if we were old friends, even though we had only been once before, a year or so ago. The cafe seems to be very popular with locals, and several came to purchase from the cabinet of ready made meals, as well to sit, eat, drink and chat. Most of the products appear to be sourced from local suppliers, which is something that always please us to see. A place we will return to, perhaps for one of those salads!

We popped in yesterday for a bite of lunch. My fiancé had a great sandwich whilst I tried the brownie which was delicious. It's a quirky and small cafe which is just our kind of thing. Staff were all really friendly and we'd definitely be back.

Words themselves cannot do justice to Venetia's cooking. You have to go and taste for yourself. The café is tiny, but has a bench outside. Lovely staff. A good selection of soft drinks and wonderful food. You can even buy one of her cakes to take away. The produce (eggs, meats, etc) is all local and V cooks in her tiny kitchen downstairs.

I've been here several times. Breakfast is our favourite. A cosy space and we always have to cross our fingers that we can find a free table. Just brilliant, tasty food, and a lovely range of locally produced goodies. Love it!

We walked past this cafe in the first instance, it does not stand out very well. Nice american waitress who was attentive and friendly. As stated in my title the porridge was faultless, just perfect. My companions had cooked full breakfast and they were very happy, the eggs were cooked perfectly too. My husband was not so happy with his bacon and egg sandwhich on wholemal bread. The egg was overcooked, and HIS PET HATE - ready sliced bread. I don't know why a pretty little cafe like this needs to use pre sliced bread, had you sliced from a nice crusty loaf you would have earned the fifth star!. Small inside, but pretty china and bit and bobs to look at make this place worth a visit, but blink and you might miss it!

I wandered into V's kitchen for an early lunch and ordered a chicken salad. I would say without doubt one of the most unusual, fresh, delicious colourful lunches I have ever had. This word WOW is often over used but honestly this place is a gem. All around me dish after dish of equally intriguing ingredients to pretty much the same response as mine. Friendly staff only to eager to help choose dishes. I have booked to go back for Sunday lunch this weekend. I fear for my waistline with a place this good so close to my home.

Friendly, lovely place. They do the best cheese scones in England!I walk in asking for them, having had them before, V made them right then, hot and fresh from the oven. Just the right amount of cheese and spice.Yum yum

V's is a lovely local place, the cakes are delicious and fresh the brownie and caramel shortbread are particularly good. I think the sandwiches here are the best, they are made fresh to order and are always accommodating with requests e.g. no tomato, extra mayo etc.

We stumbled across V's Kitchen from their board on the opposite side of the street - we'd literally walked right past it previously! The ambience is old-fashioned and cosy and I was delighted with my fresh mint tea which was served in a teapot with an integral strainer so I got all the flavour without the actual leaves in the cup. The shortbread biscuit was nice - although expensive for what it was and my husband's earl grey tea was fine too. What we weren't sure about though was ordering the cheesecake or any of the salads as none of them were refrigerated and had presumably been on display for several hours - we visited in the afternoon - so surely there's a high risk that they weren't as fresh as they should be by the time they were eaten? This really put us off.

Regularly visit V's for takeaway sandwiches, they are made as you wait so lovely and fresh, plenty of filling and very reasonably priced.Have also been for a roast on a Sunday which was delicious and again great value for money. The cakes are delicious....there is no brownie like a V's brownie! She has regularly made giant brownie cakes for us which have been a huge hit with the recipients. My particular favourite is the cheesecake, it is absolutely divine!!Friendly staff, cosy atmosphere, highly recommend a visit.

Popped into V's after hearing good things about their cakes. The coffee was average and the chocolate cake was dry. The fridges buzz is irritating and its tight for space. Gilbey's opposite may well be more expensive however they have more cheerful staff and 2 AA rosettes. It's a no brainier really...

I popped into V's Kitchen for cake and coffee. Had the Apple cake and an Americano. Not disappointed, as both lovely! Great selection of cakes, beautifully presented. I feel the cafe, however, would benefit with more seating, as it has a slightly cramped feel to it. The cafe is not too obvious from outside, easy to pass by and not notice

Having seen this new café on my last walk into town I was almost pleased that The Grocer opposite was closed on Sunday (Still to try that one too). Was in search of a decent coffee and cake. Now, it wasn't bad, but neither was it terribly good. Lots of pro's and con's....Pros:Cute, cosy, small, good cake selection, nice benches, and seats. The chocolate brownie was excellent, chosen from the display and have since read TA to understand it is a favourite.Cons:Service was kind of nice, but entering at 3.40pm the first thing we were greeted with was that they were closing at 4pm. Nicely said, but not exactly the warmest welcome! The coffee, our primary reason for the visit wasn't to my liking. The cup too large for me, and a really awkward handle meaning the heavy cup is very unbalanced in the hand...picky I know but a coffee is to be savoured....The cup was branded Illy, promising a good flavour but for me just too milky. I know I ordered cappuccino but no intensity of flavour at all. Lastly one of the coffees was simply overfilled spilling into the saucer. Again a nice apology, but just not necessary. Small things like napkins balancing the tables need sorting.I cannot comment on the lunches, salads or sandwiches, and sadly am unlikely to return. Some people like the clutter but the centre drop displaying and selling pots and pans means anyone over 5'8" bangs their head.At £8.15 for 2 cappuccinos and a brownie I'll try somewhere else.

Popped down to the Old Town hoping for coffee and cake at one of the Grocer shops or Seasons, but as it was just shy of 2pm on a Saturday we knew we were pushing our luck. All three were heaving, but we managed to find a table at Vi's. Had a mixed experience - service fine, the cheesecake divine, the carrot cake ok (was a solid, healthy type version), but the rocky roads harder than they should be. To be fair, they were changed without fuss. Liked the ambience and the vintage collection of crockery, but was rather surprised to see soup served at the next table in its takeaway cup. The woman who ordered it clearly felt them same from her facial expression! Would happily pop back in for coffee and a carefully chosen cake, but only if the other establishments were full. It does have so much potential though!

En route to Cambridge we stopped off here for lunch having previouly seen V's kitchen on trip advisor and read the reviews. Well it certainly lived up to our expectations. A cosy interior with hand embroidered table cloths and old school chairs were a nice touch. We had salad with spinach and ricotta tart which was delicious. As mentioned by previous reviewer the chocolate brownie was u-may-zing! The young lady serving was very efficient and welcoming. If you've never visited Amersham before I wiould highly recommend it.

This is a lovely addition to Old Amersham high street. The cakes and coffee are very tasty (my favourites are the brownies and hummingbird cake) they also sell jams and chutneys (the tomato chutney is very good) as well as other local produce such as chocolate, oils, etc... The staff are always very friendly and polite. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Old Amersham. I will be visiting again soon!

Not a great breakfast. Lovely setting but the food was not well cooked. The bacon was burnt and the poached eggs were undercooked. For the price you would expect better. Have been twice and not great either time. Shame as it could be so good in the beautiful dining room.

Having been to the pub for lunch, we decided to try the Sunday Roast lunch - a choice of Sirloin of Beef, Pork Loin or half a chicken with lots of vegetables and lovely gravy; absolutely great. The choice of beers and cider is really good too.The lunch we had at the pub mid-week was similarly excellent. All very homely and really well worth a visit.

The guys really looked after the kids for breakfast, nice kids utensils. My boys are american and ordered the "American breakfast" of pancakes and loved it. Good service and all the food was cooked fresh. I had the breakfast roll in a baguette (nice and soft). Top marks

Went for a family Sunday roast, starters of prawns in a ginger sauce and the soup very tasty. Three of us had roast beef with roast potatoes, veg and a huge Yorkshire pudding, our son had pork belly which he said was very tender. The portions very large but we still managed a pudding. Pleasant cosy pub, the land lady very friendly, and great service from a young lady who was also chatty and friendly.
