Viva Cuba in Leeds

Ordered the Sunday roast for £25 for 4. Unbelievable value and amazing food! What a lovely change to our normal Sunday roast. The chicken literally fell from the bone and was extremely tasty! Numerous Spanish potatoes and Mediterranean vegetables were finished off with the wonderful chorizo!!Amazing value with amazing food - give it a try!!The added bonus of the two mojo sauces is brilliant- we will be using them to spice up or meals for the next month!

Used the click and collect here during Lockdown Part 2 and took advantage of the 10% discount on collection. We had 9 dishes (jerk chicken, Spanish omelette, bravas with beef chilli, mushroom croquettes, cheese platter, seafood paella, bean stew & fish cakes). Collection was prompt and ready bang on the specified time. We enjoyed all of the dishes, highlights were probably the mushroom croquettes, patatas bravas with chilli and the Spanish omelette. 9 dishes was far too much for 2 :) but having just finished it off for brunch today it was equally as enjoyable! Would recommend.

First time visit for my sons birthday. Blown away by the food and service. Everything about this place I loved.

He comido aquí varias veces, pero esta ocasión fue impecable. Cada plato elegido fue excelente. Elegimos tres platos de tapas cada uno que es perfecto. Las porciones son grandes, el valor es excelente. Personal atento y amable. ¡Comer aquí es divertido! La lubina estaba perfectamente cocinada pero mis churros bañados en chocolate con helado de vainilla de postre fueron un triunfo. Tengo muchas ganas de nuestra próxima visita programada para octubre. ¡Bien hecho!

Visité Viva Cuba en un viaje reciente a Leeds, era nuestro aniversario de bodas y cuando nos casamos en Cuba no podríamos haber encontrado un restaurante más apropiado. Es un restaurante de tapas y las raciones son enormes. La comida era deliciosa, disfrutamos especialmente las albóndigas y los filetes de lomo de cerdo. Regado con una hermosa botella de Malbec argentino. Realmente agradable decour y vibra y maravilloso personal, especialmente nuestra watiress, no entendió su nombre pero ella era del noreste - muchas gracias por una velada agradable.

I have been several times. Always had good service and great food. Lovely cocktails. Wish you could book a table for smaller amounts of guests.

We've been to viva Cuba time and time again. I love the anchovies, chorizo, calamari, patatas bravas and sangria.

Great food and service Large menu choice, pretty quick service and waiting staff spot on. Lots of different choices on menu, portion sizes good, lamb kebab best dish.

We visited Viva Cuba last weekend and were very impressed. The service was friendly and helpful, even though the place was very busy, we were not rushed. It has a great informal and welcoming atmosphere, food was excellent quality and the price point is great. Beer was very good too. Would highly recommend and we can’t wait to return!

Visited here for the first time last night and I can’t wait to return again. Cuban tapas which has both Caribbean and Spanish influences - and very big portions!The food was tasty and the meat is so so tender that it just falls apart! We’ve tried to get a table before and it’s always been too busy - now I know why!Even the salad was gorgeous. Great food, excellent service and good value for money.

Viernes noche 7. 15 pm y no habíamos reservado. Fue solo una espera de 10 minutos, así que nos dirigieron al bar de arriba. El restaurante de abajo estaba lleno y estaba lleno de gente.Se pidieron cervezas y rosas de sangría para lo que fue solo una corta espera.Todo el personal fue muy amable y atento, pero no exagerado. Le explicamos que era nuestra primera vez y que teníamos que irnos a las 8. 30 para una película, así que estábamos ansiosos por entender qué pedir.Nos saltamos los entrantes y nos dirigimos directamente a nuestros platos principales: mi esposa tenía pasteles de pescado y una ensalada de tomate, mi hija tenía pollo picante y mi hijo y yo teníamos enchiladas, además de patatas bravas, papas fritas y arroz con frijoles negros.Todo preparado y bien presentado: tuvimos tiempo de disfrutar de nuestra sabrosa comida y todos prometimos que deberíamos regresar para una comida más relajada.Nos encantó el ambiente y el hecho de que el lugar estaba lleno, el personal amable y relajado se sumó a nuestra gran experiencia.Gracias chicos, volveremos (¡y la película también fue bastante buena!).

Date night with my wife. Always popular even from 6pm opening, so waited in the bar perusing the menu with a crisp Argentinian lager. Sea bass, lamb kebab, grilled halloumi and rice with black beans. Calling again soon @ Viva Cuba 🇨🇺🤗

Tenía muchas ganas de visitar Viva Cuba, ya que quería ir por tanto tiempo, pero estaba muy decepcionado. A pesar de que las porciones eran bastante agradables, sentí que la comida había sido recalentada y no estaba preparada a pedido. Para un lugar tan pequeño, hubiera pensado que la comida se habría calentado por las llamas: no volveré.

Fuimos para los miembros de la familia por las primeras puertas de cumpleaños. muy ocupado se llena tan pronto como se abren las puertas. bastante buena selección de tapas fuimos por las opciones de menú fijo para dar variedad. Comida de buena calidad y variedad en nuestro menú. Potata bravas podría haber estado más caliente y un poco soso, pero todo lo demás estaba bien

Food was average. Lacking lots of flavour. Tried a range of tapas and a couple of mains. Pints pricey. Nice atmosphere and good service. I wouldn't return.

Wow amazing selection, beautiful service, the Spanish sausage and the paella were amazing, we ordered the crushed olives on toast have to be the best one I’ve had in UK 😍

We have been to various tapas restaurants in and around Leeds. However, viva Cuba is always the best! Good portion, good drinks and good service! Once again a excellent night!

Visited here again and was hoping for a better service than the last time we visited. Viva Cuba was already busy when we arrived Friday night, but being unable to book unless your party is 10 or more, you have to sit and wait until table available. Luckily we were seated straight away, probably because we had just 2 in our party.

My husband hates tapas because he never feels full - however, this place - he LOVES! The food is always excellent, big portions, loads of choice, good range of drinks, great staff and lovely surroundings which can be super cool or really romantic - the music is really atmospheric - we just love it there!

Me and my boyfriend visited here on a Wednesday evening, it was pretty busy but we were shown to a table with a smile straight away. The taps was delicious and the cocktails were also very well made and yummy. The service was brilliant, we were served by 2/3 different people and they were all so friendly and efficient and made sure we had a lovely evening. Would definitely return! Thanks x

We visited after raving reviews and a number of recommendations, however we were bitterly disappointed. The majority of the food was frozen and tasteless. We’ve been to a much better Spanish restaurant in Chapel Allerton for anyone who wants a more authentic, tasty experience!

The best tapas Iv had in a long time! Couldn’t fault a thing! We got king tiger prawns, chicken breast, chorizo, stuffed jalapeños and chicken rice. It was all beautiful. And the cocktails are amazing. I had a mojito. Only down side was you can’t book if it’s a tablet under 10 people so we managed to get there early about 6ish on a Saturday and it was quite quiet until 7 and the place was full to the brim! So I advise you go early. Will definitely be visiting again

Family meal for 5 Saturday evening. Didn't book and was shown straight to a table. Food was excellent, service great and atmosphere terrific. Price reasonable too. Highly recommended, will definitely go again.

Been this evening it was really busy people waiting, luckily we got a table for 2 straight away. Got a jug on sangria whilst choosing from the menu, ordered 6 dishes in total each as delicious as each other. Great atmosphere amazing staff would definitely recommend

Great tapas restaurant on Kirkstall Rd. It’s a shame they do not take bookings unless it’s for 10 people or more as we turned up earlier than we generally would for food. Got a table straight away - this was upstairs and away from the hustle & bustle! It was a little cold/draughty as all the windows were open.

Viva Cuba has a great menu which offers quality vegetarian options at a reasonable price and always has a warm, buzzing atmosphere. What more can you ask for!

Excellent food from a very popular restaurant in the Leeds area, one of the best for Tapas - also does a good range of cocktails - friendly staff, can get busy at times but worth the wait

Solo quiero comenzar diciendo que no confíe en este lugar al hacer una reserva o los horarios de apertura. Estaba en un grupo grande y una vez que se presentó al resterante se le dijo que estaban cerrados de 9 a 30 pm el sábado por la noche. Realmente arruinó el tiempo.

Heard great things about here so was really keen to go. The food was a bit of a let down really, potatoes were really dry. 4 stars because the service was great and our waitress was lovely

Visiting friends in Leeds and chose to eat here on the back of TA reviews and we were not disappointed. Weren't able to book (can only do so for parties of 10 or more), but whilst it was busy, there were tables available (on a bank hol Monday). Didn't get off to a good start as we ordered a dry sherry, were served a sweet and they apparently didn't have any dry (we thought this odd for a tapas bar), so we sent that back. Anyway, we ordered the tapas set banquet for £18.95 pp (avaiable for 4 or more) which was plentiful and delicious, but we couldn't manage it all (they did offer doggy bags). There is plenty of parking available in the car park just across the road. Service was good and friendly. Bill for 4, including a bottle of wine, a beer and a couple of cokes was £103.

We have been here so many times now and every time has been constantly good. Staff seem a little bit stretched on busy nights but still are very friendly and effective

Visiting friends in he area and they suggested here for a meal we ordered the buffet for all of us at £18 each. Good service - one of the waiters inverses with us in Spanish! The buffet meant we got about 10 dishes between us, a wide variety including beef,chicken, veg and fish dishes. We really enjoyed the variety and the flavours and despite having big appetites we couldn’t finish it all. One complaint - one of the dishes was a paella but it was all rice and peas no meat or fish in it apart from one large shell in prawn resting on top. How are we supposed to split that prawn between us all? Least fave dish as it was nothing but rice. Overall really nice place and good food.

I honestly don't know how this restaurant is still open. I went and was served my order in a very quick time for anything to have been cooked fresh. The paras bravado were cold and mushy in the middle clearly frozen and microwaved,the fish was drowning in out as were the peppers, some of the dishes were inedible, so much so I sent them all back. When I told the waiter politely the reason I couldn't eat it he accused me of not knowing about Mediterranean food, which in fairness is utter nonsense...I come from a family with a Chef and gave worked in restaurants of high calibre. There was also the fact of flies everywhere which suggests many issues you cannot see. Sorry, not sorry .

Was here with friends for a social get together. Put in a back room and felt quite forgotten. Took ages for someone to take our food order. It arrived quite quickly, and generous portions but, wouldn't say it was outstanding. Quite average really. Reasonable price at £20 each including food, jug of sangria and tip. Would I go again, probably not.

We visited Viva Cuba on a busy Saturday evening and had to wait a short time for a table but it was certainly worth the wait. The Alioli bread and beer battered prawns were my personal favourite and the meatballs were gorgeous too. We will definitely return in the future :)

We had a brilliant night celebrating my husband's birthday. The food was excellent and plentiful and the staff were brilliant. The whole place was buzzing with a a great atmosphere. Thanks to all the staff for a memorable evening. We will definitely be back to enjoy some more tasty tapas.

I went here on a Friday night, i was a bit unsure if there would be any spaces available due to not being able to book. Upon arriving it was very busy but we were warmly welcomed and sent to the bar while the staff sorted out a table for us. From start to finish we were looked after, the food was great and it was all done in professional manner. I will certainly be returning very soon!

We had an amazing meal here last night, probably one of our best out in a long time! You can’t book in advance so there were no free tables when we arrived but we had a cocktail at the bar upstairs while waiting & that kept us happy. The food was just so delicious, we had a combination of dishes from the specials and the main menu and they were all soooo good! Highly recommend!

Viva cuba has the best combination!, great food and gorgeous atmosphere! The slightly darkness, the lively music and the always friendly staff make us have a perfect latin experience every time we go, specially during these cold days. We just love it!!!!!

Absolutely amazing place with great ambience, fantastic food and brilliant service. We ate here on a Saturday night, and somehow the atmosphere is relaxed but still really upbeat. The decor is so refreshing in comparison to chain restaurants and it’s a great setting for tapas with friends.

Went with two friends to celebrate my birthday as this place was recommended. We were not disappointed. Just walking in to the place was like stepping back in time and looked very authentic so we were very hopefull. The staff were very attentive from the moment we got through the door and made us feel very welcome. It took a while to decide what to eat as there were so many dishes we wanted to try. When the food came we weren't disappointed as it looked very appetising and came very quickly. I fear we ordered too much. It was however soon polished off with a few really nice beers and a really good tequila.

We had a brilliant time in this unique and popular tapas restaurant. The property is a former bank, and with high ceilings, decorative flair, and a hip crowd of diners, has a really buzzy atmosphere. Recommended is calamari which was crisp and fresh. Look out for the delicious cocktails. Fidel Castro adorns the walls of the restaurant but don’t let that put you off. This is a great fun homage to tapas classics, with a modern twist, not a tribute to a dead dictator.

Great Place to end a busy week....warm, welcoming atmosphere & friendly and attentive staff. We ordered a selection of vegetarian & seafood dishes from a very tempting menu and were not disappointed. Delicious tapas, especially loved the cod cakes, crispy prawns & spinach tortilla. All in all a lovely evening & will definitely be back!

After driving past this restirant several times we were curious to try it out.

Visited on Xmas eve. The Xmas set menu wasn’t very appealing so asked if we could order off main menu but as we’d oaid a deposit upfront we weren’t allowed??? The starter was appalling. 3 pieces of cheese, some chickpeas scattered about and 2 olives. The rest of the tapas came out and there was a ridiculous amount of below average food. Probably won’t visit again.

A friend recommended Viva Cuba to me a long time back and I finally decided to go recently.

Buena comida, pero ten cuidado, las raciones son grandes, pedimos mucho pero te darán una bolsa para perros. Solo los retretes y el bar están arriba de la escalera si eso es un problema para cualquiera y no pudimos reservar una mesa, solo tomar reservas para 8 o más, así que nos dimos cuenta de que la mesa sería de 30 minutos subió las escaleras, consiguió un baño y la mesa estaba lista así que no tuve que esperar mucho. Disfrutamos de nuestra comida lo recomendaría.

Viva Cuba siempre va al lugar para nuestras celebraciones familiares porque a toda la familia le encanta. La comida y el ambiente siempre son geniales. Nuestra visita más reciente (la elección de nuestro cumpleaños de 22 años) fue tan buena como siempre y una vez más terminamos trayendo algunas sobras a casa. Desde la entrada al edificio, hasta la música, la decoración, el ambiente era bueno. El menú es lo suficientemente amplio para una buena sección transversal. La comida es muy buena con el tamaño de los platos lo suficientemente amplio como para hacer una buena comida, 3 - 4 es suficiente para demasiado. El servicio es muy bueno y el personal es muy servicial en cuestiones de alergias, siempre es un punto importante. Precio muy razonable pero fácil de facturar en cualquier entorno tappas.

Visited on Saturday for the first time in over 10 years (apologies Seb!) Still as good as i remember, decent Mojito, short wait, cold beer and amazing tapas, could not fault any dish and the Caribbean Stew was amazing.

Arrived at 5.30 on a Saturday evening and managed to get a table straight away. Tapas was amazing, service was great. Good value.

I decided to write this review after seeing some negative reviews of Viva Cuba. We visit around every 3 months and to me, it's still head and shoulders above other tapas options in Leeds (especially chains).

Have always loved this restaurant. It had been a few years since my last visit and clearly things have changed. Cocktails were delicious but service and food have really gone done hill. Portions for tapas are too big, food was bland and it didnt appear that fresh ingredients are being used. Such a shame as it really was the place to go for tapas... we did complain and they were quick to take the good off our bill... wonder whether he had heard similar before?

This is our second visit in less than 2 weeks. Warm welcome and a quitter table than the first time. I chose prawns and fishcakes both were excellent and my husband chose the pork loin and lamb kebabs which were also excellent. We shared the chips! We drank the draft beer and I had a Cuba Libra not had one of those for years but it was excellent and complimented the food also managed to sneak a medium glass of house wine more than palatable. Can wait for our next cinema visit so we can sample some more tapas.

I had high expectations for viva cuba after a few people recommended it . Decor and lay out is very good the staff were polite and friendly but the food let it down a bit. We were a party of 7 its maybe a good idea to add here they only take bookings on parties of ten or more any less its turn up and see. We were shown to a little private bit at the back which was very nice only downside was tiny wooden chairs that were not very comfy and the dimly lit room. The food was average at best i got fishcakes which were bland also sardine fillets which were nice , meatballs ok and spanish take on sausage egg and chips that was average. summary nice place friendly staff but food under par would i go back possibly but not anytime soon.

I can’t begin to tell you how bad this was as a whole, to start on a high the nachos and dips were delicious the meatballs were tasty a tad dry but enough sauce to compensate that, the ribs were on the colder side of warm not too pleasant in taste to be honest the potatoes in the patatas bravas tasted and looked like they’d been cooked a few days and just reheated the piri piri chicken sauce was nice and spicy the chicken as dry as it could get the chicken and rice again dry chicken not quite as dry as the other chicken but nevertheless dry and the biggest letdown my go to dish the chorizo, aghhh !!! Cheep tasteless and greasy, I hope you complained I hear you all cry well I would have but the waitress that brought all the food out didn’t think to ask if everything was ok when she was taking 90% of it back, another waitress did ask after if everything was ok, I pulled a face and shook my head (with her looking straight at me) unfortunately my wife had miss heard her and replied with a yes to which the waitress turned to her and said thank you and walked away, if it had just been one bad dish out of all them I would put that down to a bit of bad luck but for the majority to be so bad I think that’s my last visit unfortunately

When we come to Leeds we make a point to visit this place dating back 5 years. Full of flavours and choice, good quality ingredients, and each dish has a generous serving. We love how over time they have been consistent in quality and service!

Another great evening of the very best food in a great place with a great atmosphere. No wonder this is our first choice every time for birthdays, anniversaries or just for a treat.

The atmosphere and decor of the restaurant is quirky and fun, albeit a little bit of a dive bar feel. It definitely makes a nice change from chain restaurants.

For a monday I guess its not very busy and most places are closed so this has potential to fill a gap and be very good!- but for me it was a reason to wait til Tuesday! ... the atmosphere was relaxed and quiet, almost like they were about to close but mostly welcoming, the service wasnt bad but not brilliant, but it was the food that really let them down, it was very quick to arrive but was dry and alittle tasteless.. and the sangria wasnt the best - all in all it was just o.k ...dont think I will be back.

Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, can't do enough for you. The plates are massive compared to a lot of tapas eateries and the sangria generous too. Laid back vibe in here and the food was delicious too - if you're after fine dining, look elsewhere but if you want great comfort food at very reasonable prices, look no further! Lamb and Prawns a must!

The food is Spanish and the spirit Cuban so the menu says. The food was mediocre at best, overpriced and not very inspiring. I didn’t detect Cuban spirit. In my experience The Cuban spirit is vibrant and alive. It wasn’t obvious to me in this place

Decent food. Lots and lots of cheese. The tapas here is not small plates, but huge tasty treats. Really friendly staff.

My boyfriend and I went for a meal here before a trip to the cinema wanting to avoid the chain restaurants on the retail park... however we would have been better off going to Nando’s.

Unreal food, not just quantity but also quality. Best tapas I've been to in Leeds. What you get for your money is hard to beat and will definitely be back!

This is one of the best, maybe the best, Tapas restaurants outside Cuba. Can recommend the Cuban Jerk Chicken thighs and the prawns with tails on. The red sangria is also very moorish! Great meal again. See you again soon

Whilst I have been coming to eat here since it opened (I only visit once a year or so) it just blows me away how consistently good the food is. Amazing service too - I asked for only a little ice in my sangria and that’s what I got. Thank you so much. I just don’t know how you get to be so good but please don’t change a thing. Well done. You’re the absolute tops.

Just enjoyed our second excellent experience of this Tapas heaven. Couldn't fault either the food or the service. Portion sizes are large so be careful not to over order (we did!). Perhaps three dishes each is enough. There is a wide choice. I had delicious muscles, savoury lamb casserole and creamy aubergine and potatoes with garlic mayonnaise. All were delicious. Great Latin/Cuban atmosphere too.

Not the first visit to this restaurant, food was good as always but the lady who took us to the table had zero manners, albeit was friendly enough with other diners throughout our stay! Can only assume these were regulars or friends , but her attitude was different with them. Other waiter was fine , although felt rushed to leave, as starting wiping tables whilst your still enjoying your drink is unacceptable , especially when it’s not full? Need to work on friendliness as there are equally as good restaurants in Leeds who will take your trade

The restaurant is cosy and quirky inside, service was very friendly, welcoming and attentive, the menu had lots to offer, I’m vegetarian and there were lots of options! The quality of food was amazing, and portion sizes are huge, which is rare with tapas, the price was so cheap for the quality of food and service we received! We paid £45 for 2 starters, 6 tapas and 4 soft drinks! Could not recommend more, my favourite restaurant in Leeds!

3 of us stopped here before the cinema (just over the road) We parked in the cinema complex and walked over. No need to book unless you are a party of 10 or more apparently. Place was busy (7pm Fri night) but we were quickly seated. Nice atmosphere, but very dark inside. Food all really nice and served quickly, lots of choice and generous portions. Approx £20 a head for 9 dishes shared between the 3 of us and a drink each, very reasonable. Will definitely be visiting here again!

Called here last Saturday (31st April). You can't book so had to wait but, after a great cocktail we were quickly seated. We decided to order our tapas in 2 parts, fish/veg. 1st then meat dishes 2nd. There was a slight issue with one of the 1st dishes but this was quickly apologised for, replaced, knocked off the bill and a round of drinks provided gratis as well! The food was all great, genuinely crisp calamari (for a change) as an example. Overall good food and value and absolutely 1st rate service.

Ate here yesterday evening ( but been going for years) & once again everything was spot on. The staff are friendly & helpfull, the inside of the restaurant makes you feel like you could be in Cuba. Then there's the food, not only is it reasonably priced but it tastes fantastic, the Caribbean lamb stew, lamb kebab & fish cakes are some of our favourites.

We just love this place. The food, staff and atmosphere is amazing. I really enjoyed the Cuban jerk chicken thighs from the special board tonight. I had my usual tiger prawns. A really enjoyable meal. Highly recommended

Not being from Leeds and staying for the night, we were recommended Viva Cuba and so decided to visit. As we arrived it was really quiet, possibly because of the terrible weather but had a warm, friendly welcome. The menu had plenty to choose from, including lots of vegetarian options and the difficulty was choosing what to have. The food was really tasty, and good sized portions. Will definitely return on our next visit to Leeds - it was much better than the food experienced in Cuba itself !!

Wow! Never been before but will be back. Gorgeous tapas, lovely place, good sized portions (3 each is enough). £100 for four of us inc two drinks each.

I've only been here twice but I love it. The menu is varied and extensive plus the portions are great for the price.

I’ve been eating here for years now and it’s my favourite place, the food the service and the atmosphere is amazing... oh and the Margaritas are to die for, it’s good quality, good prices and you’ll never wait too long with their ‘no booking’ system! Go, go and go again.... you won’t be disappointed!
