Vito's Italian Restaurant in Sheffield

Took myself out for dinner and intentionally didn't bring my phone so I could focus completely on my food. But I wish had taken photos! Waitress very friendly and helpful in helping me decide what to have from the menu. She clearly enjoys the food there which is a good sign. She also explained about the decor of the restaurant & art & photo. The restaurant has a warm homely feel inside, lovely art work, photos of owner/chef's family and fridge magnets from across the world given by his friends from their holidays. I opted for the Strascinati Con Salsiccia Lucana which the chef said is a pasta from his home city of Potenza. It was served with homemade sausage and a tomato and chilli sauce. I really enjoyed the texture of the pasta, the freshness and flavours of meat and sauce. I ordered a starter size but it was a generous portion! I also ordered Friarielli/brocoli which is a leafy vegetable more like spinach. It was cooked with garlic and chilli and served few slices of warm fresh bread. I found that the Friarielli has a quite strong bit overpowering so for me it was missing something slightly. My one suggestion was to use more chilli and garlic. Perhaps a bit olive oil and lemon on top. Although my suggestion may come across rude as I'm not a chef or Italian! The chef came up the say hello to customers and was very chatty. This made it feel like a more intimate and friendly environment I look forward to trying many more things from the menu - the waitress recommended truffle and Parma ham tortellini, risotto with gorgonzola and pear and many more dish look interesting The chef definitely puts his heart and soul into his food and restaurant !

Worth visiting if you're looking for some Italian cuisine. Decent priced food and the service was goof too. Would try again.

Have been coming here for years and always had a good experience but am very disappointed today. We booked a table online last night for my birthday today. However my wife woke up this morning feeling unwell with awful morning sickness. She contacted the restaurant as soon as possible and left a voice mail to cancel and then rang again (got through before 15.30) and managed to explain the situation. However, they are insisting on charging a £44(!) cancellation fee. I understand having a charge for those who don't show up, but this is ridiculous. I won't be pre-booking a table here again and that likely means I won't be coming back which is a shame after 15+ visits over the years and supporting them with delivery during the lockdown.

I never normally write reviews but had to for this! Had a wonderful night here, everything was perfect. The authentic Italian food was for everyone's taste. Atmosphere, great service.The owner Vito was so lovely and friendly. Highly recommended

The food was great and prepared really well, our waitress seemed to be new but did try her best which we were grateful for. There was another gentleman who made every pence of the 20% tip.

3 kids and 2 adults. Highchairs available . The place is good for any ocassion . We went with kids to celebrate our wedding aniversary.we had steak spaghetti and pizza. Can t describe in words how good and genuine the food is.if you ever visited italy you can tell how similar the food is. Genuine place with a good selection of wines.

This restaurant has amazing staff who do their utmost to ensure the customer has a great experience. It’s a small intimate environment and the food is second to none. Will be returning in the future

Enjoyable excellent upscale Italian food in a smart stylish restaurant. Excellent ravioli, risotto, wild boar, stuffed chicken and tasty deserts. Delighted that this is a restaurant that has coat racks. Whilst still clearly the personal domain of Vito himself, this has very definitely kept up to date and embraced quality.

Fantastic meal, the food was delicious and all freshly made. The portions were also large and great value. Service was spot on, really friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was very nice, clearly family run and very traditional.

Best Italian food ever tasted accompanied by a bottle of the finest Italian red wine that I’ve not managed to find in Italy so far having travelled to the country regularly over the past 20 years! I’m just so happy that now I have found the real Italian cuisine at my doorstep!

The room we were in was neat and tidy, but the decor wasn't great in my personal opinion. Also has a bizarre obsession with Peaky Blinders! But a really good Italian restaurant, best I've been to in Walkley and the surrounding area.

What a shame the reviews were good but our experience was not good. All was ok except the food. The lamb skewers were overcooked and chewy. The fillet steak was half inch thick more like a cutlet. Should have complained but one of our party of 5 doesn’t like confrontation. Drinks and service were fine.

Fantastic award winning restaurant in the Walkley suburb. Easy on-street parking. Welcoming and attentive staff. Great selection of traditional Italian dishes - probably not a good idea to ask for chips! We had the bruschetta appetizer followed by the aubergine bake and linguini mains. Finished with amazing tiramisu and good coffee. Highly recommended - will definitely visit again.

Me my wife our 2 lads and partner ate here Saturday night the food was delicious my wild boar main was so tender and tasty and the lobster ravioli was delightful too as was all our food the atmosphere and ambience of the restaurant too was lovely and chilled we would highly recommend this as a must place to go.

The eponymous proprietor of this cosy little Italian puts his heart and soul into the cooking, and it shows. After more than 25 years on the local scene, it clearly still gives Vito immense pleasure to be told his customers have enjoyed the authentic southern Italian food he serves up. We visited on a busy Thursday evening and wondered if Vito could magic up a meal to please our diverse group - one Pole, two Oxford students plus the oldies and remaining daughter. We needn't have worried. We started with a sharing order of delicious bruscetta classica, a fondue with black truffles and a piping hot pizza garlic bread fresh from the oven. Three of us opted for fish main courses, the perfectly cooked seabass and the house's very own recipe, cod in a Florentine sauce. Simply delightful, and a few glasses of Aglianico rounded off the evening perfectly. That a restaurant can still lead its field after three decades is a remarkable achievement. Put it down to an owner whose devotion to his craft is obvious to even the first time visitor.

This place is a hidden gem. It is easy to find free street parking nearby and one doesn't have to venture into the city center. And most importantly the food is delicious and fresh, and all the staff are friendly and accommodating. I have been here four times now, brought a bunch of different people and everyone has loved it. As a Vegan as well they offer a lot of vegan options that are not currently on the menu, you just need to ask. I especially like the gnocchi they offer, and they also have vegan cheese they can add to pizzas. The only drawback is that currently these options are not on the menu, however one of the staff members told me they are planning on updating the menu in October so I am hoping they add a (vg) next to the dishes that offer vegan options. I have tried the Bruschetta, Vegan gnocchi with a "cheese" sauce, Risotto Agro Dolce Al Gorgonzola, Linguini Torpedino e Zucchini. My favorite so far is the Gnocchi

We loved everything about this restaurant! We we’re staying nearby and looked through TripAdvisor for somewhere to eat. Boy did we hit the jackpot. The food was easily the best Italian food we’ve had outside Italy. The team were super friendly but left us to talk rather than continually coming to ply us with more drinks. Vito’s used to be our ‘go to’ many years ago when we lived just down the road. Not been for years- we’ve been missing out! The place was very busy, yet service was great, food delicious and the atmosphere was amazing. Won’t be waiting as long to return again.

I have been going to vitos now for about 6-7 years, it’s my favourite restaurant in sheffield, iv never once had a bad meal it’s beautiful, and vito is a great guy too

We visited Vito’s on a whim and were pleasantly surprised with the charming environment. The staff treated us very well, meals were brought in good time (15-20 minute wait) and everything tasted absolutely fabulous. We ordered a range of starters and two mains (both carbonara). My favourite was the gnocchi, perfectly made (in my amateur food connoisseur’s opinion). Would happily recommend to anyone visiting Sheffield or in proximity to this restaurant. Hopefully will come here again on our next visit!

Delicious midweek dinner. Honestly the best steak I've eaten in years. Melt in the mouth good. Antipasti starter is large and would share next time, but they are happy to box it up to go.

Superb food. Best gluten free pizza I've ever had, almost questioned of there'd been a mistake. Dined with vegetarians as well, and no issues for anyone to find something they liked. Prices very reasonable, especially considering the high quality. Staff are very friendly and got to have a small talk with the owner afterwards.

This is by far our favourite Italian restaurant that we have been visiting for many years. The owner, Vito, is a true gent and treats you like family with every visit. The food and wine is always spectacular and for those who like a tipple of whisky, well you'll be in for a treat here, as Vito has some of the most tastiest whiskys for you to sample.

Amazing !!! I recommend x1000 We are french and on a sunday evening we were looking for somewhere to eat. We didn't know that everything close at 7pm on sunday. Fortunately, this restaurant was open late! The waiter was very kind :) and the food was excellent !! I took the pollo toscano and cannoli. It was very very good, even the cannoli tasted better than in sicily. One of the best food i've ever eaten.

Went midweek and it was empty. Why? This place is fantastic. Food's great, service is friendly, nice atmosphere. It's a bit pricey, so assume it's more of a weekend place. But do yourself a favour - avoid the crowds and visit midweek!

Third time my wife and I have visited vitos and once more it didn’t disappoint, it’s only due to work commitments that we don’t go more often, the food is delicious and reasonably priced and the family atmosphere makes the place feel warm and welcoming, the waitress could have been more helpful explaining some of the dishes , had to take some food home with us because we went a bit overboard with starters and side dishes but still left room for dessert. Don’t miss the homemade tiramisu it’s delicious,this place it’s a hidden gem that you’ll definitely revisit

Been twice this month for two special birthdays, and it was excellent both times. Amazing food, lovely, talented staff and a homely place to spend an evening. The artihoke starter, seafood salad and lamb and prune stew are incredible.

We absolutely loved Vito’s from the moment we set foot in the restaurant 2 years ago. The food is incredible. We’ve been there multiple times and we never allow ourselves to order the same main because we want to try the entire menu. It’s always been a positive experience. I would trust them enough to pick something out of the menu blindfolded and still know it will be exceptional. The staff is so friendly and they are so knowledgeable. My partner is Coeliac and it’s wonderful to know they can cater to him as well as they do. They always point out options for him from the Specials board. When we can’t go in person, we have pizza delivered at home and I have to say Vito’s has made a pizza lover out of me. It’s a lovely restaurant to have close to us, I have been recommending it to everyone we know for the delicious food, great atmosphere and excellent service.

Oustanding food, friendly and attentive service, charming decor.

For a 5 stars restaurant to serve a soufflé dessert or lava cake (that takes 20 min to prepare and cook), dry and old that i couldn t swallow, it s disappointing. The starter and main came one after each other, we didn t even have 10 minutes between dishes. The risotto was nice but the pasta could have been way better. The lobster in the pasta was not fresh. Thank you! I m not coming back

What can I say? The staff were incredibly friendly and the food was AMAZING. I'd never had artichokes before, so I decided to give them a try and I am so glad I did. I also had the truffle pizza which was delicious. My husband had the lamb skewers for starter and he enjoyed them, along with the gnocchi main which he complimented!

I purchased my daughter and her fiancé a gift card to Vito's without ever having trying their food. They had just recently moved from Canada to the UK and I wanted to "buy them diner" and after doing some research I selected Vito's. They just visited this past December the 29th and they loved everything about the experience. The food the ambiance and how Vito came to see how they enjoyed the cuisine. We will be going back in May when we visit.

I ate the best Pasta Carbonara in Sheffield exactly the same taste as in Rome and with the right ingredients. I will gladly come back to this restaurant.
