Virundhu in Hillingdon

Decorators painting &drilling in restaurant on a Saturday at 3pm. Sat down complained but was told owners insisted on them opening and serving while working. This has to be a against the health regulations( paint fumes, dust and the workers had no masks). There was a dehumidifier in the entrance to the restaurant.It completely put us off so we asked for our ordered food to be packed up so could take it away. As we had travelled 25 mins to this restaurant the food was cold when we got home and veg dishes were really oiley( okra and Aubergine). Total waist of money , ruined experience and will never go to this restaurant again. Paid £45 for this miserable experience!

We had the plain hoppers with seeni sambal and Jackfruit curry, just tasted like food back home. The cassava chips and baby jackfruit cutlet was so unique in flavour, with the perfect amount of spice. So happy to have found this place where there's so much vegan choices. Looking forward to trying more of their dishes next time.

We were looking forward to dining at Virundhu for a long time, finally got a chance to enjoy authentic Srilankan food in Pinner/Harrow. I’ve been to many other Srilankan restaurants in the area and nothing can come near Virundhu. Their mutton rolls actually had mutton in them and not just potatoes!! I’d definitely recommend their mutton Kothu - what a beautiful mix of flavours. Clean food with superb service in a cosy atmosphere - will I be returning? A DEFINITE YES!!!!

Very expensive. Only 3 idiyappam sothi & sambal they charged me £7.50 plus service charge. Seafood koththu £15 plus service charge. Very little portion. Its a joke.

We visited here on Friday evening for a post lockdown belated birthday dinner. The staff were friendly and offered to go through the menu as we had a coeliac in the group and needed recommendations. The food is wonderful! Delicious flavours beautifully balanced. Definitely recommend the Lamprais - rice with lots of little curries wrapped and baked in a whole banana leaf. There was so much flavour in this dish. We even ordered for more to take home. Food was beautifully presented. Lots of exotic flavours in every dish, the mutton rolls served with a little pot of sauce were just amazing - I’ve never eaten anything like this in the Uk. It was lovely for them to have surprised my mum with a little cake a handwritten card. It really made our day. Definitely a restaurant we will be visiting again, great atmosphere, amazing food and attentive service all under one roof. Thank you to the team for looking after us.

Visited last night for my friends birthday, food was great, full of flavour, staff were lovely, attentive, polite and looked after us so well and gave my friend a birthday surprise! Would definitely recommend this place.

Ordered a takeaway for the family as part of my birthday celebration. Extremely impressed by the consistently high quality of the food which was also very well packaged and presented. The chicken Lampries served in a banana leaf was sumptuousI mentioned it was my birthday when ordering and they kindly included a small desert with a nice personalised birthday message

The food was tasty and authentic. We very much enjoyed our chicken kothu roti, devilled prawns and mutton rolls! And the staff was friendly and very courteous.

The food here never disappoints! Whether we come for lunch or dinner, it is always spot on. Service by Ravi and Nilu is impeccable and it is just so tasty! The lamb chops, kothu roti and the paneer devil and the chicken wings are too tasty!!

A short walk from Eastcote station and you find this restaurant offering authentic Srilankan food. The staff were very welcoming from the moment we walked in. Absolutely delicious, especially the mutton lamprais and egg hoppers. Would definitely visit again.

Fantastic, authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. We love it here, so do my friends, so do my family. Fantastic flavours, it won’t break the bank and every dish is presented beautifully. Be sure to try the veg curries as they are outstanding.

I recently visited Virundhu the staff are not hospitable, very rude. The owner is very defensive and never listens to the guest as you could see from the reply to the any constructive comment. I took my friends to this restaurant felt very embarrassed from the moment we arrived the way we were treated. The food is average nothing stands out. For the service they provide the service charge they charge is ridiculous.first learn the basic of hospitality before you reply to guest comment Hope you will change the attitude towards your guest

The ambience was lovely! The food was tasty but pricey for the size, and had to pay 5.50£ service charge! And no freebies(like a mint or little mint chocolate) at the end!(i love a mint at the end) Overall too expensive for what you get!

This is our third visit to Virundhu, authentic food and great service, just gets better. The Gobi 65 was just perfectly flavoured can’t believe cauliflower can taste this great. We had the sweet coconut milk hoppers for dessert, they were delicious. Taking Covid precautions very seriously with temperature checks and hand sanitiser stations at entrance. It’s now one of our favourite Srilankan restaurants.

Staff are so amazing, the food is out of this world and the atmosphere is beautiful. this is my new favourite restaurant.

It was our first visit to this restaurant but we have wanted to go for some time The food was quite simply amazing !!! It was a bit on the spicy side for me but when I explained to our waitress she bought me yoghurt ! Problem solved ! The flavours were not compromised! We will most definitely be back and our first experience of Sri Lanka food was 100% a good one !!

We visited yesterday during lunch to have authentic srilankan food, then followed by covid19 measurements which is really good in these hard times. Ordered many dishes, taste was incredible and it reminded me of vacation in srilanka. Service was exceptional. Nilo was knowledgeable and customer focused and took good care of our table. very disappointed with the staff that had served us, as we reserved the seats they had not told any information about how long we could stay. Furthermore, they have treated unfair with us by lying about they didn’t have any puddings which was told by the girl, however the owner had said there were puddings. i’m very disappointed with the service overall as the staffs had an attitude towards us. They had also provided us with double charge on the receipt which we had identified and then got it changed by the owner. The owner was the only individual who had an welcoming attitude and was honest with everything and had changed our receipt. I really want to put a complain against the girl who had lied purposely. The food we had ordered, were not as great. for example the chicken briyani, the rice was not cooked and was kinda hard to munch. moreover the chicken kothu was dried, the rolls did not even have mutton as much, chicken 65 just tasted like fried chicken. Overall, my family and I do not recommend this restaurant due to the staff, the service and the food doesn’t taste great.

Dined in with friends. Staff who called Dion was friendly and guided us to go through government guideline due to Covid protection and seated us comfortably to our chosen table. He was attentive while taking order. Foods arrived promptly and was delicious except the egg hopper which was too thick but kindly replaced. Slightly overpriced but we expected for the area. Minus are definitely not happy with service charge at 12.5% which was nearly £10 added to the bill. If it was compulsory then we should have been informed while taking our orders according to the rule and as soon as we paid the bill no one seemed to care about us when we left saying thank you or see you soon which could have been a additional personal touch of customer service we were expected.

I've been to virandhu Restaurant yesterday with my family, waited few minutes to get the table.Security checked the temperature due to covid 19 measurements and finally we sat on our table, we asked waitress Nilu if the food is Halal. Ordered few dishes which turned out be exceptional and service was fantastic especially during the busy period. It was worth visiting.Would recommend everyone to try their restaurant. Kudos to the team.

The food they serve here is very authentic and the flavours and ingredients are homely. Would recommend anyone to pay a visit for the best Sri Lankan meal around.

Haven’t tasted authentic Srilankan food like Virundhu anywhere in Uk, taken me back to my visit in Srilanka. Food is very fresh with the right amount of spice. So much choice for Vegans!!! Love the beetroot curry and Gobi 65. Took all COVID safety measure very seriously, very clean restaurant. We will definitely be back soon.

We went to Virundhu last night for the first time and we definitely over ordered as we weren't sure of portions. We got the vegetable rolls and mutton rolls, you get two in each portion. These were OK, the breadcrumb around the filling was a change to the usual pastry. Fish cutlets we ordered were 3 quite large balls that tasted nice. We then got a mutton curry on the bone, and aubergine and chickpea curry. Both of these were very rich and portions were not that big. We weren't told about the spice levels so we suffered a little on this. To accompany we tried the string hoppers, a parotha and some rice which were all OK. The best thing we ordered was the egg hopper, kind of like a crepe with a seasoned runny egg in the middle. All in all nice experience and service was good. We were scanned for temperature, had menus on our phones and sanitiser so they were trying hard with all Covid precautions.

Three of us went in the evening, taking advantage of the Eat out to Help Out. We had poppadoms and mogo chips while we were waiting, a starter and main course each.The mogo chips were nice, but it was a very small portion, especially at £5 and the basket of poppadoms was two of them, or £1.75 per poppadom. Veggie starters were reasonably priced, but the meat and fish ones were pricey. We had cauliflower 65, some spicy chicken wings and some vegetable rolls. All were tasty, although the chicken wings and cauliflower were a bit greasy.For mains we had a Lampries, a mutton dosa and a chicken kotthu. The Lampries was huge. The dosa came as three pancakes, with the mutton in a small bowl. The dosa itself was a little too thick, weren't crispy and personally I found it too buttery, but the mutton was delicious, if very hot The kotthu was good and quite a big portion and spicy but not too hot. Overall the food was reasonably good, although I'd avoid the dosa if I went again. The lampries was too big to eat even for someone with a big appetite - maybe it's meant for sharing but the menu doesn't say that.With a 4 beers the bill came to nearly £100 before the discount, which was frankly far too much for the food we had.

My husband and me visited here yesterday along with our son and our little dog. We are able to sit outside with our dog and were comfortable. I have to commend the food and the depth In flavours. We ate the best mutton roll we have ever tasted at any Sri Lankan restaurant around . I also loved the fact that they don’t hold back on spice and the favours are extremely authentic. Having said that, We asked for the chicken curry to be mild on spice for our son and they were able to accommodate that for us. The service was great , friendly and accommodating. Absolutely feel that they have achieved what they were going for , fresh, authentic and refined Sri lankan cuisine. Well done . Will definitely be visiting/ordering again.

We chose this restaurant for our first post-lockdown eating out experience. We were not disappointed. Upon entry, we were greeted straight away and politely asked to check our temperatures using the machine attached to the wall at the entrance - very clever and reassuring. Despite a limited menu (only just reopened) the food was good, in particular the cauliflower, vegetable rolls and aubergine. An alternative to the chilli dipping sauce would have been welcome though as much of the food was very spicy - even my fiancé (who is Indian by the way) said that her mouth was on fire There was a good atmosphere however it was a bit dark at first until they turned on the ambient lighting. It was also slightly off putting to see so many takeaway delivery bags crowded on one of the tables - perhaps better to leave these in the kitchen. Finally my beer was not very cold ☹️ Overall, we enjoyed the experience and will be happy to return. Ciao.

Not your normal Indian cuisine. The Lampries form a complete main course. Lots of elements with wonderful warming flavours. Wrapped up in a banana leaf makes it look great too.

The food from this place is amazing. Chicken Kothu is my go to, it the more traditional curries are also banging. Most dishes are fairly spicy. Nice interior of the restaurant too.

Myself and my mother went and had the best time! We had never tried Sri Lankan food and the lovely waitress was very helpful in helping us pick dishes. The prawn starter was incredible!!!! We had never had prawns that size before. Everything we had was excellent. Would definitely recommend and will be going back!!!

The restaurant and staff are lovely, the restaurant has great decor. The food is great and has a good balance of spices and has a good gluten free option.We went in as my tastecard said it was accepted here however, the owners said it doesn't anymore and that the branch in Eastcote only do tastecard now. This was a bit dissapointing as it was still on the app. Between 7 of us we actually didn't order a lot, so just mains and drinks really (non-alcoholic), and the bill was fairly pricey. Food was good, but i'd think twice for value for money.

Fantastic Sri Lankan restaurant that’s modern, clean and the food and service is excellent. Unlike other modern Sri Lankan restaurant this place has not cut back on portion sizes. The lamprice is exceptional. I would highly recommend this place.

We had an amazing time at Virundhu, the decor is simple with a very homely feel. The restaurant is very clean and not like most restaurants nearby. The food is so fresh and especially the mutton Kothu, mutton rolls and prawn skewers are a highlight. This family run business is a hidden gem. I Definitely recommend Virundhu.

I have been to this restaurant a couple of times. The staff are always very friendly and willing to help you with menu choices. Food is lovely. Restaurant was very busy last night but didn’t affect the service. I would recommend Virundhu.

Today 2 December 2019, is our second visit to Virundhu and I am obligated to comment on both the delicious meal and attention we received from the owner Ravi himself. His personalized n warm hospitality made our dining experience far more memorable and already looking to return again.

After our visit to Srilanka we have been craving for some authentic food, glad to have found this place. Exceptionally amazing food, definitely a hidden gem! We went to the restaurant for a family birthday the food was authentic and delicious. The service was excellent, the owners made us feel very welcome, and the cost was reasonable. We have already planned on returning over the festive period. Highly recommended.

One of the worse restaurant I have ever been to, extremely over priced and not even worth the hype because it’s tasteless and also we have to also pay service charge for the bad customer service we receive there, it’s better if you guys just cook and eat at home rather then going there.

This was our second visit to this restaurant in two months. Our first time, in the summer we were not disappointed. The only negative, the first time, was that our food did take a little longer to arrive after our order had been taken but the food was faultless. On our second occasion, we arrived without making a booking. It was busier than our first visit probably because we arrived later in the evening on a Saturday. However, despite it being busier, we did manage to get a table for three. Other tables had been reserved. After we were seated, and had given our order, the food arrived very quickly indeed compared with our first visit here. This time, we had ordered lamb biriyani, chicken cottu, nann bread and daahl and a starter. We were not disappointed. The food was delicious and we had more than enough to eat. In fact, what we didn't eat, we took home to eat the next day for our Sunday lunch/dinner! The portions are generous. I would highly recommend this place and to reserve a table to avoid disappointment. We were fortunate this time that they managed to accommodate us. The staff are very friendly and courteous and the ambience is wonderful. Maybe the only thing missing is perhaps some Sri Lankan music in the background. After our dinner, we didn't order dessert but just a short walk away is a place where you can spoil yourself with a heavenly dessert like ice cream or whatever takes your fancy. We are already looking forward to returning to Virundhu. A wonderful place to dine and enjoy authentic Sri Lankan cuisine.

Upon arrival we were greeted by a beautiful waiter named Anu. She was very helpful and polite. She helped us and recommended us to a nice table next to the window which had the best outdoor view. She then brought us the menu and helped us to decide what to eat. And she kept checking up on us to see if we were okay and needed any assistance. We were originally from New Delhi but the food was amazing like we both kept ordering and ordering and at the end of the day we were satisfied with our meal. Honestly guys it’s one of the best restaurants to visit and it’s very affordable and good price. Thank you Anu

We came to celebrate my father's 70th birthday at Virundhu. If you are looking for authentic delicious Sri Lankan cooking, this is the place to come to. Everyone loved the dishes they ordered and real highlights were the chicken Kothu and the mutton lampries. The service was excellent and the restaurant itself had a warm buzzing atmosphere and felt spacious. I would whole-heartedly recommend this restaurant but furthermore, my father who is Sri Lankan and the hardest person to please when it comes to food, left the restaurant a very happy man!

We booked for a Friday night and wandered up there, just the two of us. There were three other tables occupied but they wanted us to sit right by the door on a tiny table. Eventually we were allowed to sit further in the restaurant but we wished we hadn’t bothered. The poppadoms came with the smallest little dish of mango chutney I’d ever seen and the chicken 42 starter was greasy. No water was offered, despite there being glasses on the table. The main course of biryani was average and it came with one whole hard boiled egg in the middle. The food was served on cold plates with no central hot plate. Even when we left there were a lot of empty tables so we couldn’t understand the fuss over wanting a larger table. Won’t be going back.

I’d walk past Virundhu a few times and was impressed by the smart exterior. I finally went to eat there last night. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was very tasty and not too spicy. I shared vegetable patties, lamb chops and aubergine and chickpea curry with my friend all of which were great (particularly the first two). The only thing which wasn’t perfect was that we ordered a glass of wine each and were given a bottle.

We waited a while to have our order taken but the food was very good and the staff were kind and friendly. We were not rushed and the atmosphere was relaxed and easy. Definitely planning a return visit

The food is very good. Tasty and nicely presented. Good atmosphere too. However it's quite pricey. We had 6 starters, 4 mains, 4 Nectos, 4 desserts and the bill was a whopping £160. The Polos curry is the best. Shame they don't do hoppers.

Located on main road.Small but cozy sitting arrangement.Comfortable atmosphere.We had Prawn Skewer,Chicken Devil,Mutton Kothu,Eral Kulambu,String Hopper & also Plain Rice.You can easily savour the flavour of specific preparation of each item they offer.Prawn Skewer - medium size, crispy & soft inside.String Hopper came in bamboo casket.Eral Kulambu is a shrimp curry dish,Mutton Kothu is a mixture of small mutton portion with shreded roti & fried egg accompanied with a hot & spicy sauce.They use Sri Lankan spices. Foods are easy to digest & nutritious.Friendly staffs are always helpfull.It was a nice experience.

Found this place whilst doing the Celandine walk. We had Lamprise and devilled squid curry. Can’t fault it. The service was good. The restaurant could be a little lighter.

I visited number of Sri Lankan restaurants lot, but they have ‘Sri Lankan’ as a name only but food is like South Indian taste. This is the one of best restaurant I really tasted Sri Lankan food. We spontaneously dropped in with our young children for dinner and came away loving the food and the attentive waitress. We had a number of dishes including Jaffna Aatu Elumbu curry and Parippu curry, and everything tasted delicious. The waitress was great with our kids. We'll be back soon!

Our visit to Virundhu fulfilled all expectations. The ambience was simple but elegant and the overall service was very good. We were looked after by Anu, who was friendly and customer focussed, looking after our needs extremely well. Quality of the food was exceptional and every dish had the touch of authentic and traditional Sri Lankan cooking. We will be back and perhaps try the Virundhu Street Kitchen as well. Beautiful food, Anu is so welcoming and knowledgeable. Helped us on our first visit, the potato curry and spicy rice with the roti was amazing.

This restaurant is my ultimate place to go if I want to be in a good mood. The food is reminds me of eating home cooked Sri Lankan food and is always an absolute pleasure to eat and the team at Virundhu are so welcoming. They are fantastic representatives of the beautiful hospitality that Sri Lankans are known for. A special thanks to Sangeetha who always remembers us and treats us so well! I also have to mention the owner Ravi who is super talented. I will continue to visit Virundhu happily and wish them the best of success for the future.

The food was spicy, juicy and fresh. The seafood platter was well selected and sauce was spicy and tangy with lemon, very good. The atmosphere was very warm and Sangeetha was very welcoming. Thank you! Will be coming back to try the crab curry :)

So we planned a trip to the local indian restuarant but it was full. However it was a blessing in diaguse as we found Virundhu. Honestly one of the best food places i have eaten in this year. Nafesa and Anu were great from start to finish explaining the menu and adjustung the spices. Absolutely delicious fresh food. Pop in if your in Eastcote.
