Vinam Café is no longer. In its place, a Chinese/Thai takeaway. We had sugary seaweed, beansprouts suspended in an inert medium and a thai gloopy brown curry (the menu said green). They couldn't even do fried rice properly, it was overcooked. Avoid!

Love this place, been a dozen times in my first two months in the area. Fast, good quality, and the most authentic Vietnamese cuisine I've enjoyed in the UK, reminds me of being in Ho Chi Minh. Outstanding.

Well-presented, delicious food in a cafe style restaurant. We are not experts, but the food seemed genuinely Vietnamese to us. A great quality addition to the area. Check opening times on their web site http://www.vinam.co.uk/

Having read the few (approx 14 reviews) but highly rated (excellent) reviews on tripadvisor I thought I would pay this newish (opened since Feb 2014) Vietnamese restaurant on the Caledonian Road a try. The restaurant is very simply furnished but super clean looking. The food is good to v good. Over a number of different trips I've tried the classic pho (beef stock noodles) and the bun ( a particular Vietnamese take on a summer salad with cold noodles and accompaniment eg BBQ port, springrolls etc). I would say that the pho in Kingsland Road (which we all know is Little Vietnamese in London/ Dalston) at places like Song Que are better but this is good indeed. It's fresh and the stock has a good depth of flavour. But the Bun Vinam Special no 45 ! is really special - see the pic I've uploaded of this dish. I've had this in many other restaurants but this version is really good. The owner was really proud that they prepare this in the afternoon and not overnight so the herbs etc are super fresh. They clearly care and love what they do. This family run restaurant deserves a visit for the Bun Vinam Special alone. Most dishes are around £7. If you found this review helpful - thanks for the vote ! Now for some details - they are closed on Tuesday. Other days except Sun they are open noon to 3pm and then again from 5.30 to 10.30. On Sunday they open all day from 1pm. Also they are BYOB and there are plenty of off licences around. If you are driving - parking is easy after 6.30pm weekdays or 1.30 on Sat and all day Sunday.

Everything was perfect, from start until finish. Very friendly staff to welcome you in and chef served up some very fresh and authentic south east Asian flavours. The herbs given with the pho could have been just picked off the plant and the lemon wedge was full and juicy. The mussels I ordered came with a sweet and tangy ginger sauce all over them with the shell still on which made them even more enjoyable to eat. It was so good I asked for advice on its ingredients and they very kindly let me know how to make it myself once I return from my travel to London. Place was immaculate in cleanliness and the music played added real atmoaphere along with the bright coloura of the food and tantalizing aromas. Highly reccomended. I will be back for sure! Thanks :)

I've been to Vinam Cafe in several occasions and the food is always great: very tasty and you can tell that it is made with fresh ingredients. The staff is friendly, the venue is very clean and there is a great range of Vietnamese dishes, which I find delicious and a nice change from Chinese restaurants. Lastly, it is reasonably priced and easy to get to. I recommend it without reservation.

We tried this place as it was highly ranked, however not reviewed by many so didn't know if that was a good thing or bad. I have to say Wow! The food was amazing, so fresh, tasty and perfectly cooked. We had a mixture of about 10 dishes. Every one was fantastic. Comparing to other many Vietnamese restaurants we have been too this tops the lot for me. The service has been impeccable and the price is so good too. About £5-£7 a dish! Can't go wrong for London. Worth finding for sure!

This restaurant is brilliant, fresh good quality ingredients, good service and very cheap, it's also BYO! It was relatively quiet went we went, with only a few other customers who all appeared to be regulars. I would definitely recommend giving it a try if you're in the area, cheaper and better than Cay Tre and Pho.

I don't usually review restaurants but this will be an exception because the food Vinamcafe serves is absolutely delicious! I always find myself ordering more food than I can eat because for dishes that are fresh and full of flavours, the prices matching those are a very good value. Staff are very friendly and approachable...always willing to have a chat! Will definitely eat here again.

I heard great things about this new family-run restaurant around King's Cross area called Vinam Cafe so thought I would try it out. This restaurant exceeded my expectations and impressed on several fronts: - Great authentic food: fresh ingredients and dishes with great flavour. Vietnamese food seems quite healthy in general. Menu was varied with plenty of options (including Vegetarian dishes.)- Service was friendly and quick. Staff provided a nice atmosphere in the restaurant. - Great value for money, especially compared to the many other London Vietnamese restaurants I've been to.Overall, very impressed with this new restaurant and will be returning again to eat with family and friends.
