Visited this south Indian restaurant recently and was pleasantly surprised. They served really delicious and authentic Kerala food. We ordered porotta, beef and fish curry, which were all equally amazing. The beef wasn't on the menu as theyre yet to update it, but you can simply ask them. The service was also very good, they were very attentive and made sure we were happy with our food. I'd definitely recommend it and I'm definitely visiting again. 😊

If you are looking to have some delicious kerala food, look no further! We had their kerala porotta and beef, and also kerala fish curry. Everything tasted amazing and authentic. Their service was outstanding and worth mentioning. I recommend this place to anyone craving authentic Kerala/South Indian cuisine!

Was craving dosa and so glad we found Vijay India Restaurant! Such tasty food and a lovely space and well-priced. We had the dosa with sambar, chicken malabar, and rasmalai. The dosa was hot, crispy, and light. Sauces were well-spiced and delicious. Service was friendly and attentive. Definitely recommend!

Best Indian food I ever had , great atention too

I was really disappointed after coming here, going by the reviews, I was expecting the food to be really good - it wasn't! Poppadoms were stale, chicken quality was poor and the food was really oily. The demographic that eat here are those who don't truly know what authentic South Indian food is. Being Asian, having lived and eaten all over India - food was not up to par. The atmosphere & decor was also below par, they've apparently been around for so long, it shows going by the decor. The only positive point was the service. I must admit that service was really good. They were pleasant, helpful & attentive. Happy to go the extra mile for their customers.

Carte dense avec abondance de plats : On s'y perd, dur de faire un choix. Après avoir choisi un peu au hasard et un peu par expérience, nous avons eu un vrai "patchwork" de plats d'Inde du sud, tous meilleurs les uns que les autres : Goûts, parfums, couleurs, épices... Plaisir des yeux, plaisir des papilles ! Grand choix de plats végétariens. Assurément une bonne adresse sans chichi et dans le respect de la tradition.

The 5 star is definitely deserving. Their sambar and rasam is so hearty. And their coconut rice is just done right. Note that the food is very very hot with abundant use of green chillies, red chillies and ginger. So be prepared for the heat!

Authentic South India food, prompt service and welcoming staff This is london's best kept secret. Unlike other india curry houses, they also serve idli and dosa (rice cakes and crepes) with mouthwatering sambar (a lentil dish which can be slightly spicy, you can ask to customize or have with rice) Highly recommend the idli with sambar.

My friends and me often order from Vijay, who serve some of the best South Indian delicacies in this city. Definitely try it out! The food is carefully and freshly prepared with a nice mix of Keralan and Tamil spices … I think, to perfection. A guilty pleasure for those who enjoy fuzz free comfort food.

Always good reasonably priced food. One of the first Indian restaurants in the UK. Still one of the best South Indian restaurants in the area.

My favourite curry house. Always have the lamb biriyani and then a couple of veggie dishes and paratha, because it’s such a delicious combo. Will make and effort to try something else next time but can’t promise anything. Staff are always super gracious and kind.

Food was very tasty and the prices are reasonable. I highly recommend the Lamb Madras. The only negative was that the air conditioning system in the restaurant is awful; it essentially blows very cold air at one particular spot (you will be freezing if you are unfortunate enough to be seated here), whilst the rest of the restaurant remains quite hot in the summer.

Excellent cuisine, the chefs at Vijay will shower you with raw Indian deliciousness. Expect a tiny bit of waiting after ordering at peak hours, but well worth the wait.

The food is up to the hype. The Lamb Masala was the best Indian food I’ve ever had. The other dishes were also amazing. The staff were friendly and the place was very clean. Absolutely faultless, 10/10.

Been here a few times when am in the neighbourhood. Standard is amazing and service and taste. A must if you are in North London.

We were visiting friends in the area and decided to go here based on reviews. As South Indians, Vijay really hit the spot - the parota, masala vadai, poori aloo, and rasam in particular were spot on, while the upma and dosa were decent. We were surprised to find the restaurant fairly empty on a Sunday for lunch, but plenty of takeout and delivery orders came through. Overall A+, particularly for the price. We'll be back.

Une cuisine d'Inde du Sud largement épicée ("nuclear" !) , qui a du goût; les portions sont généreuses. Le plus dur, est d'aller au bout, avec un tel niveau "spicy". Heureusement qu'il y a le "bag" pour en ramener à la maison. Nous avons aimé les crevettes "keralan prawns with mango (9,40 £) et le "mix vegetables baghi curry" (5,95 £).

Vijay has been, and still is the best food in North West London. Usually eat in, had delivery for the first time. As good as ever. Highly recommend.

Best Indian takeaway I've had in London by far. Just moved to Queens Park and a gem of a find! Friendly staff on arrival and delicious food - also very well packaged.

The dosai at the start very good, but the curry’s were just on the too spicey side to be enjoyed (and we’d ordered some pretty mild curries). The paneer dish was the best for us.

I've been eating here for about 35 years and can honestly say that I've never had a bad meal. Delicious south Indian cuisine, freshly cooked with quality ingredients. The ceiling is cleverly designed to be reminiscent of a Keralan house, which I love.

I am so glad we have a good south Indian restaurant near by that makes good Tamil and Kerala style dishes. Their medu vada is also good and tasted fresh and crisp after being packed and delivered. Their biryani is pretty nice. Their Kerala porotta and Kerala pepper chicken are very good. All their items are decently priced too. I only have a picture of their biryani to share but can say the food is good enough that we have ordered from Vijay twice.

As always, delicious food in generous portions, lovely staff and a buzzy atmosphere. We'll be back!

A very good curry and friendly service.

When we were in London, we wanted to try an authenic indian cuisine experience, away from the fuss (and inflated prices) of Central London. This was as real as it gets: delicious, unpretentious, generous dishes. Full of locals that seemed really happy to be there. All in all, a great discovery.

Really delicious and affordable Indian cuisine with great service. We got the chicken biryani, butter paneer masala, and dal and highly enjoyed it all. Great place to go with a group so you can try a variety of dishes.

My family has always ordered takeaway from this neighbourhood, family owned homely restaurant, but 13 of us ( including young children) ate in the restaurant this time. As always... delicious food, with very efficient, welcoming staff. So much food that a few of us ( took home doggie bags ) enjoyed a further night, at home!! Highly recommended!!

The service was great. However the food somehow did not taste like the traditional kerala food when compared to some of its competitors. The ambience could also be improved as it looks worn down.

My family has been coming to this restaurant since the 1980s and it is honestly the best Indian food I’ve ever had! Everyone I bring here also comes to the same conclusion. If you are planing to go here I recommend getting the egg fried rice as you will never want any other rice again!

Very friendly staff. Food was excellent for most of the times, except one dish which was just Okayish. But I would really recommend this restaurant to anyone who fancy Kerala food. I will definitely go back. It was not difficult to find parking at one of the side roads.

Amazing food. Coconut salsa is something special. Service was spot on. Basic surroundings and no music (which could be a good thing). Great South Indian cuisine. The starters are definitely South Indian, with delicious Sambol sauce and the coconut salsa. A must visit. The gulab jamun passed the girlfriend pudding test.

Really authentic south Indian (mainly Keralite) cuisine, reasonably priced, very tasty food, excellent service with great suggestions for dishes if you are not familiar with them all. We keep going back to it every time we are in London

The worst indian takeway ever . AVOID at all costs , the whole delivery 2no because they forgot 1 main dish, they said it would be delivered in 30 min it came in 10 min , that was stone cold as well . the pieces of chicken in the korma & bhuna were shredded NOT good , Cold, Tasteless, Poor quality Meat & ingredients . We did not eat anything , through the whole takeway in the bin , i wasted £55 For Crap food , Never Ever Again. Thanks M

Is definitely not a place I would recommend or visit again. I read some great reviews and went for it. I should have gone instead with the review a gentleman had posted a few months earlier, as completely agree with what he had written. Dosa- the filling had no taste, hardly any salt Sambar- was like flavoured water Menu- has tons of items.. but only 2types of Dosas- masala or spicy egg. Ambience- non existent. Matter of fact- come, eat, go. Service- only 1 waiter (when we went for lunch), with extremely strong body odour on clothes. Pricing- was not cheap- at £7.50 for a masala dosa. Overall- disappointing experience, further disappointed with experience vs value charged.

Best South Indian food in London and great service 🔥

One of the best Indian meals I've had. Don't miss the chilli chicken and kadai. My stomach did feel like it was on fire but it was worth it. The staff are are so lovely, the place is clean, and it's reasonable too. I am counting down the days to go back.

I found this place to be average. The Vada were fried multiple times, dosa wasn’t great too. This is not how South Indian food tastes. Parota we’re ready to eat types and not cooked in the restaurant. Strictly one time visit place

Authentic, been going for over 50 years! Children and grandchildren have grown up on eating here, a family tradition. Recipe unchanged, so know what getting .. great grandkids next? :)

One of the best indian restaurant in London, very authentic, fresh and friendly service.

You’re in for a surprise! Not much to look at from the outside but you do walk into a very Kerala household decor - soft lights, woodwork and a very chilled out ambience. The food was brilliant- we ordered the beef and two types of fish curries with Kerala parottas (bread) and some steamed rice. Spiced well - not “burn your mouth off hot”. Staff are lovely - had a nice chat with us and made sure the service was top notch. Value for money but mainly a great meal served up by some great people! P.S. - too hungry to take food pictures :(
