Victuals & Co in Dover

Took my Mum, stepdad and cheekee daxy Benj (big bark out for the doggy treats and bowl of water with which to wash them down!) here for Mother's Day and had a wonderful time ... for those who haven't been, in a nutshell, Victuals is a cosy little gem of a place where you are made to feel instantly at home and are welcomed almost like old friends ... Rob and his team are fabulous ... friendly, knowledgeable and attentive ... the restaurant boasts superb chefs that really know their stuff ... everything cooked fresh to order with flair and panache and beautifully presented ... if you like fast food and aren't prepared to wait, then you will be missing out on a real treat! ... we all polished off our starters, mains and desserts with gusto ... absolutely delicious and empty plates all round ... crayfish cocktails and crispy chicken satay starters were a big hit ... the porchetta and roast beef mains were scrumptious, accompanied by yorkshire puds the size of a small hat ... I was almost tempted to try mine on for size :-) ... and the rhubarb crumble cheesecake and cookie dough ice cream ended the meal on a sweet high note ... the only downside was, unfortunately, we were all driving later that day, so it was not possible to give the wine list a good bashing, but as I'm lucky enough to have this little gem almost on my doorstep, I will be returning to do it justice for a repeat performance as soon as I am able!! ... hands down, Victuals is the best restaurant in Deal in my opinion ... a solid 5* all round ... thank you SO much for looking after us all so well (even Benj!) and for making Mother's Day so memorable for my dear Mum, we all had a marvellous time ... x x x

My husband and I had dinner last night at Victuals. The staff were very friendly and efficient and the food - we had venison - was superb. The bottle of Chilean Carmenere was excellent. Altogether a superb experience. We will return!

The 2nd time we’ve eaten at Victuals. This time Saturday lunch. The ambience is great and service is spot on. An extensive wine and drinks menu with a small food menu. However it covers all bases and the food is excellent quality. Starter, main and dessert were all fabulous. We look forward to visiting again.

Birthday celebration dinner and the restaurant lived up to the evening. Nestling in a small alleyway off the main high street the Victuals is a warm and cosy brasserie. Staff greeted us with a warm reception and the service remained attentive and friendly throughout our evening. Food lovely and well prepared. I had fish (halibut) which was beautifully prepared. The dessert of almond and orange cake was delicious.

Great meal, nice place to be, good service- not rushed. The steak was as I asked for," lovely" and a selection of veg with couliflower-chees on the side. Good choice in wine and drinks all served with a smile. The menue had several choices, which chainges weekly and weekends. Booking is required which you would expect from a highish-enb resterant. In all, an easy 5***** service all round, happy to recommend.

I’ve worked in the wine industry for many years, and I’ve been lucky enough to go to some of the top restaurants. This little gem is definitely on my list of places to visit. Everything about the place is perfect. Excellent staff, atmosphere, fantastic food and great wine. All at a very reasonable price. We shall be making another trip from London to visit again. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Outstanding dining experience from the moment we stepped inside. Such a warm welcome from one of the owners and fabulous waiter service. Food absolutely first class - we had the 2 course menu for £25/head which was perfectly portioned. Excellent wine list starting at around £28/bottle, plus a complimentary glass of fizz for each of us (and a hand written Happy Birthday placemat!) to celebrate my friend’s birthday. Cannot fault our experience. The food was served at a perfectly leisurely pace so we never felt rushed. All in all a perfect evening.

Had a wonderful Sunday roast with our friends cannot recommend it high enough. The only fault I found was the fact there is only 1 toilet and ladies sharing toilets with men who leave seats up wee on the floor etc etc is not good I would suggest having a man’s toilet I can see why you have done it. There are some people who may have certain health issues where they need the loo more often than others and also may take a longer time in the toilet thank you for our lovely Sunday roasts though we thoroughly enjoyed them.

A delicious Sunday lunch. Friendly attentive staff. We couldn't have asked for more. Our first time here we look forward to returning!

Had Sunday lunch with the family for my wife’s birthday. Roast rump of beef with all the trimmings was fantastic. Can’t recommend highly enough, staff, food, wine and atmosphere were lovely. Outstanding on every level. Service was spot on. It’s a quaint yet stylish little place. The food was utterly incredible. Fresh, vibrant, delicious, perfect sized portions. We had the 'raid the larder' menu on Sunday evening. The food was superb, starters were perfect, and an even better ribeye steaks, cod and lamb followed. All absolutely delicious. Just enough room for dessert and my strawberry panna cotta was just so yummy. Good wine selection and the service was efficient, friendly but not overwhelming. Good atmosphere in the restaurant which was busy. It's a little pricy but you do get what you pay for. Definitely the very best restaurant in Deal.

Cute little spot, but way too hot. We have been before and we had the same issue. Food was okay, but a bit too overrated. For the price we paid we expected more. Staff were extremely helpful and attentive.

Great little restaurant! We had a lovely meal here - service was great and food to die for. We had the roast leg of lamb and cod. Both were super nice and cooked to perfection. the lamb was probably the nicest one we’ve ever had … portion wasn’t massive, so you can go for starter as well without a problem, portion sizes weren’t too big. the crocettas looked amazing!

Schönes, kleines Restaurant in einer Seitengasse. Wir waren zwei Mal während unseres Kent-Aufenthalts hier und haben beide Male sehr genossen. Sehr nette Bedienung und super Essen. Besonders lecker fanden wir den Confit pork belly with udon noodles und den Triple chocolate chip and peanut butter cookie dough.

Nice atmosphere, good food. Good service. Very limited vegetarian option. (1 dish) Not particularly good value for money for some dishes. £20 for a few florets of spiced cauliflower or £9 for 5 slices of tomato and a piece of mozzarella could be improved upon. Burger was tasty.

Had very tasty meal here, food was very good! Did not realise that they had second floor in the restaurant as well! Friendly staff, only downside was that being seated upstairs, all people left early and we were only people left upstairs and seems like staff sort of forgot about us. But overall good experience and tasty food, would like seat next time downstairs. Would go back again.

I have visited this beautiful little restaurant many, many times to date. It may be the only restaurant I’ve ever been to where each visit provides the same high standard each time. The staff are extremely friendly, and diligent, and the meals are delicious, the way that only genuine, honest, hearty, home-cooked food can be. Which is a real treasure to have nearby. The Sunday lunches are a major highlight of our weekend. We make sure to take all visitors here to show off Deal! The Roast beef is always cooked to perfection, and if I could take home a pint of the gravy to drink at leisure I surely would. Victuals provide the most delicious menu in Deal if you love hearty roast dinners, and as I said earlier, I have never ever been disappointed. Victuals also offers a superb wine menu, which includes a huge range of delights from Kent vineries. Keep doing what you’re doing, the best in Deal without a doubt!!

This place is a real diamond in the rough. We were greeted by Rob whose attitude immediately set a great tone and we were waited on diligently by Karen. Atmosphere was great, all the other dinners were having a great time too. But the best thing, They have a very well earned Michelin star and it shows in the food quality, care and presentation.
