Faultless. Fantastic food, very extensive wine list with some amazing wines, excellent and friendly service. The cannolo for dessert was sublime. This is the best Italian restaurant I have been to in many years.

Lovely authentic Italian restaurant and atmosphere. Food was excellent and delicious. Service was spot on. Have been to many Michelin restaurants and this was just as good. Will definitely be going back on our next visit to Sheffield.

Had read some great reviews of this restaurant, however I was so disappointed as a) the wine was ridiculously over priced b) I felt rushed c) I found the servers to be 'curt' to the point of rudeness d) The food was average at best. Sorry but I will not be returning.

Beautifully decorated place. Great service starting with our coats being taken. Lovely waitress , thinking of our comfort on a cold day. Lovely food, delicious and tasty , unique flavours. Desserts were very well crafted.

What a lovely restaurant. We were walk ins on a Thursday early evening, but were soon seated. Great, attentive but not pushy service from the outset. Focaccia as a shared starter was excellent and the slow cooked shin of beef pasta was seriously good. All in all a wonderful place.

First time here, what a great choice. Possibly the best lasagne I ever tasted 👌 Wine - 🍷 - medium red - delicious Focaccia & olives - beatiful Lasagne, chips, & salad- amazing Tiramisu & lemon tiramisu - 👌👌👌 Coffee - cappuccino - 😋 Not cheap, but well worth it. Very impressed visiting this restaurant today. A warm welcome, beautiful decor, great ambiance. Food tasted wonderful and was very well presented . For me it all came together to make an experience I want to repeat and am happy to recommend to others.

This is without doubt one of the best restaurants in Sheffield. The attention to detail is exceptional the food and first class service together made for a great experience. If you like wine, they have one of the most comprehensive wine list I have seen in Sheffield. This was my second visit, already looking forward to a third. Quite simply “Buonissimo”

This was our first visit to Verogusto and it most definitely won’t be our last, it was truly an amazing experience. The staff and owners are very friendly, helpful and efficient. The restaurant is very stylish and also at the same time, comfortable. The atmosphere was lovely. They have a large wine list and we enjoyed the wine we had. The menu had a great choice of food, we tried the Frito misto starter which was delicious, we had a lamb main course and a Raghu di mare pasta dish. The flavours were amazing and the quality of food was excellent. We did manage to fit in a dessert, the special of the day and also a tiramisu. It was a lovely evening!

The staff at the store had a bad attitude, impatience, a poor dining experience, and serious suspicion of discrimination.

This is an over-priced Italian restaurant making that classic error that english italian restaurants do of putting too much cheese and/or cream in most of the dishes and making them over-rich and inauthentic. That said it is one of the few decent places to eat in central Sheffield so if that doesn't put you off go - the service is good and the surroundings good too. Wines could be better at the prices as well.

Simply, some of the best food and wine served anywhere. Ok, you can get cheaper elsewhere but not of this special! We sampled 2 wines both new to us. Unexpectedly excellent. Wonderful to be able to buy quality wine by the glass. Food was imaginative and perfectly cooked and timed for our theatre visit served up by friendly and helpful staff. Obviously a very happy environment to work in. ** If you were one of the raucous young men eating at the same time, be aware how much you caused discomfort for eaters and staff alike. Please be mindful no one really appreciates having to put up with a background of your loud and course conversation and piercing guffaws. We all are deserve to be able to enjoy a night out without such interruptions. Well done to the staff! A place not to miss out on. Do try it! (The chances of having to share the space with such thoughtless men are slight )

Stopped here on a whim and enjoyed it thoroughly. Whether you’re coming for dinner or just to have a coffee or a few drinks after work just know that everything is amazing and the quality is superb. It’s so elegant yet has a friendly family feel.

I came with my mum for a pre theatre treat and we weren’t disappointed. Service from walking in the door was fantastic. Really attentive staff and fantastic food. We had Fritto misto and olives to start , followed by monkfish and prawns which we cooked to perfection. My mum had gnocchi stuffed with ricotta which were so light and delicious . We had to try a dessert which were pear and chocolate torte and lemon sponge which also were light and delicious. An excellent first visit and will definitely return.

Disappointing experience - the seafood in my pasta had a funny smell and did not seem fresh (perhaps it came from a can that had been open for a while), generally a bit overpriced for portion size & quality, waiting staff seemed a bit rushed in their manner and made faces at the fact that we had shopping bags with us. On the positive the duck was very good and the wine list is great. Tiramisu to finish off was good but not spectacular. Not sure whether we’d come back.

Nice cheesecake with cappuccino

Went with my mum and aunty for dinner before going to the theatre. The service and food was outstanding, arrived a bit early so we were asked if we wanted to sit at the table or in the wine bar while we waited, we sat in the wine bar, which is small but comfortable and relaxed. The specials were explained to us and as one of the group is coeliac so were the options available for them. The food was amazing, had scallops to start and then we all had sea food risotto which was so good, I could eat it again any time, had cheesecake for dessert which was also really nice. The service , atmosphere and food were all excellent. I can’t say enough positive things about here and will definitely be back. It is one of the more expensive restaurants but well worth it for the quality of food and service.

Best Italian in Sheffield by a mile

Vero Gusto is the best Italian Restaurant, not only in Sheffield but in the many places I have visited both in the U.K. , and also with many excellent ones in Italy. Ester, the chef buys only the best ingredients and the food is prepared to order. The recipes are authentic and the food beautifully presented. I often "test" the quality of food in other Italian restaurants (by ordering a dish I eat at Vero Gusto) only find it disappointing; sometimes not even correctly prepared or often without the correct ingredients. I once ordered Caponata at a famous Italian restaurant only to be served something resembling ratatouille ! Service is attentive, without being obtrusive and the ambiance is perfect to enjoy the best food in a relaxing atmosphere.

The food was amazing I had a fillet steak cooked to perfection, the most amazing chips my wife had a sausage dish and she had never tasted pasta like it before but I cannot give you any more than 3 stars. And that unfortunately is because of the service. We wanted a special night for a combined 1st anniversary and 50th birthday and it wasn't made to feel special and in a restaurant that has some pretty good reviews so I was expecting a brilliant overall experience. Firstly - The Food Amazing!! Tasty, well cooked and well presented, we really cannot fault it 2. Location and Venue Located close to the theatres and many shopping treats, it's a lovely place in a pretty much perfect location. However I was near the air conditioning unit, so as the night went on I got pretty cold and uncomfortable, but then the air conditioning won't work correctly if the front door is fully open, ehich it was. The restaurant is pretty cosy but not overly as others have suggested. 3. Service This is where the restaurant really let us down and I would only really rate as 1 star!! As we walked in there was no real concierge/ reception, someone sort of behind the door mumbled something but then someone behind the dessert counter looked over and smiled so we said our name and booking time, and then someone else appeared and sort of shuffled us down to a table. We were seated, we perused the menu and then picked up the drinks menu, which is quite extensive, I had not got to the 2nd page before we were asked if we would like something from the menu, I politely declined as I was still looking. I looked back to the food menu, we made our decisions and within 10 minutes our order was being taken, we were quite rudely told when trying to order Olives that these were no longer available. I will come back to these though. On ordering my steak, while taking the order the waiter kept looking else where, but as I stated how I would like my steak he just said with chips and shot off!! I would have actually preferred the rocket with balsamic reduction. A little later, i think we were eating our starters we went for the bread and the scallops, both amazing another couple arrived, obviously some regular customers. They were seated in front of us and within minutes they had olives on their table, hang on we had just been told olives were no longer available!! Not impressed!! That was just the beginning of bad experience, with plates being cleared away from the table while we still had food in hand, when we placed money on the table to pay it was literally snatched away and done was exclaimed busy the waiter. There was a young boy just meandering around bored as bored can be, playing drums outside on the empty tables. When asked for a dessert menu a different waiter rambled off 3 dessert choices and I thought I heard lemon in the 2nd option I was right and again the food was delicious along with the coffee I had as well. But I had to catch a waiter to ask for coffee. It really was like they didn't want us to be there and we were too much trouble so while writing I've actually got that annoyed again I've reduced my review from 3 to 2.

We only went in for a coffee, but then decided to have one of their delicious cakes. The sponge was light as air and just enough flavouring; exquisite. Service flawless. We intend to come back for a full meal.

I was a guest at this wonderful restaurant on a Saturday night and enjoyed an exquisite meal with excellent service and fabulous wines. A great place for a date or a special night out.

Recommended for a romantic and authentic Italian for wine lovers. The ambiance is Italian , the service impeccable and worth the price in my opinion.

Went for a meal with friends , had been recommended by a few people , the service was terrible , the staff not friendly at all , we got ignored do not know why , we waited 45 mins for our food, they kept saying...

Very poor service, restaurant not busy but it took over 45 mins to provide the main course despite being promised it several times. When meals arrived they were all lukewarm and very small portions. When complaints were made to the manager he arrogantly dismissed them all. We will never use this restaurant again, it appears that they think they’re better than they are. Very poor.

Quite possibly the best Italian meal I have had for many, many years. Not only was the food superb, but so was the service. I am not from Sheffield but would seriously consider driving the two hours just for another meal there.

Wanted to go to this restaurant after hearing great things. Unfortunately we were disappointed, the service was poor, food was lukewarm and mains were starter size portions. When we pointed this out to the manager he dismissed it saying that they had done their best. Will not be returning if this is their best!!

It’s a pricey restaurant, that’s fine but, genuinely, I do not expect to wait an hour for the table I had booked without explanation. While waiting, my son did not receive the drink for which he had asked. I would not have liked to have waited another 40 minutes before seeing the wine menu. The food, when it arrived, was delicious. At no point was my complaint acknowledged or apologised for.

The food was excellent although a little pricey (I am a tight Yorkshireman btw). If you like your wine this really is the place to be. There is a little bit of a hard sell on wine upgrading but they are a passionate bunch. If you are trying to impress your boss or colleague, this place works well.

After a long day out, myself, my partner and a close friend decided to try VeroGusto after having a look at TripAdvisor to decide where to go. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were very friendly and attentive. A bit expensive compared to other places but you certainly get what you paid for and it is evident that it goes straight back into VeroGusto's food, service and staff. Unfortunately we weren't able to stay for dessert but we definitely will the next time we are in the Sheffield area.

First time visit to Sheffield and after some disappointing starts at various other restaurants I ended up here nervously anticipating a “sorry we’re full & its 9pm kitchen closed” but no ! Welcomed in, fed & watered. The food was so well presented and so full of flavour I never went anywhere else for the 3 day business trip. Day one starters of Capesante, main Tonno Gambera Rosso Coda Di Rospo and dessert Creme Brulee. Two glasses wine, dessert wine, espresso £85. Superb. Highly recommend booking a table though.

Tucked away close to the theatres opposite St Marie's Cathedral. Stopped by for a coffee on the way to a show and we were made to feel welcome by the friendly team, enjoying 20 minutes or so in this splendid little place. It's clearly popular and easy to understand why. Authentic high quality Italian food and drink. Expensive, but real quality is.
