Veccia Roma in Newry and Mourne

What has happened this restaurant???? We went for an evening meal and you are greeted by a pleasant hostess but on full view is a very very unhappy looking pizza chef ! If I was that unhappy in my job I honestly wouldn’t be there. We had a similar experience a few weeks ago but returned because we gave them the benefit of the doubt my goodness our experience was worse tonight. We waited so long for our food we just left cause we had very young hungry children. We were told that the pizza chef was behind with the orders. Such a shame that this place has gone down hill so badly. On speaking with a couple of other families they said they also had the same experiences. Clearly no management on to see exactly what is happening. Very disappointing !!!!!

Taken a while to gather my thoughts before review, as it's a place my wife and I loved. Haven't been in a few years ( COVID etc ) and thought end of may bank holiday was perfect time to reacquaint ourselves....what a mistake!...greeted very nicely by young man and shown to table, and asked for drinks.He Proceeded to stock room and we were totally ignored. After 10 minutes plus, I drew this to the attention of the young lady who was in charge. Haughtily served us in an annoyed manner. Very passive aggressive when menus were supplied....paid for drinks, left, and had the most beautiful meal in the harbour inn Newcastle...who have brilliant staff!!!....never again vecchia del Roma!!!!!... standard has slipped beyond repair. Dirty tables, floors....etc. but the bad manners make it impossible to return.

Das Restaurant ist direkt am Hafen gelegen. Ein solch liebevoll hausgemachtes Barbecue (Beef Ribs, Pulled Pork, Chicken Wings) habe ich außerhalb der USA noch nicht gefunden.

We picked one of the busiest nights of the year unknown to us, everyone was under huge pressure , food ,drinks did not suffer,service was friendly and great value, I will return

Overall it was not good food and we did not finish. The pizza was OK and both cooked well. Getting the bill and paying was efficient and quick.

Rude and unhelpful Lady on phone. I rang to book a meal last Saturday night. The lady on the phone advised me that she had a table. I explained that we were cautions over Covid and would like a table perhaps not in the crowded bar area. Rather than being professional and explaining that they were busy and this wasn't possible her attitude was at best rude and patronising. she more or less said " You take what your given or don't come ". If the managers cannot train their staff to be pleasant to customers asking to book their services then they should close up

We ate here when staying the night in the Lough and Quay. The food is good quality, good portions, well presented and reasonably priced. Whilst it is no longer, primarily, an Italian restaurant it still retains a pizza oven. I had an excellent, freshly prepared pizza and my husband had an equally excellent burger, with a good bottle of Rioja. The atmosphere is comfortable and the serving staff capable and friendly, we were served by Anna and her brother. There are also seats outside in event of good weather and we were able to sit outside to finish our wine.

Just terrible start to finish. Two young inexperienced staff. Senior one, was on phone the whole time texting. Forgot to do any basics… greet us, take a drinks order, ask us is everything okay during or after. Couple came in after us and asked for a table, girls looked at each other and senior one said .., I don’t know, I don’t want to get shouted at by kitchen, wait and we will see. Food was awful too. In Diamonds tonight, night and day! Great food, same price.

My food was so so, but my wife who is a chef ordered a steak sandwich and got roast beef sandwich, staff were very young and has no idea of customer service, overall not a great place, maybe it was just the day that was in it, but I doubt it, the wife voiced her issues, but got no resolve

Ordered pizza and carbonara. Partners pizza was nice as it was homemade but my carbonara was very poor to be honest. Looked lovely when it came out but it tasted bland and, I paid extra for chicken in it which was really tough and chewy..didn’t seem fresh. We ordered desserts and they really tasty. They were presented lovely too. I would recommend the malteaser cheesecake. Mixed opinion about returning to this restaurant. I would probably go back and try something else. Price is average

Staff are lovely and the food is great - only ever had the pizza. Very reasonably priced food- would be surpaied if you could find more bang for your buck anywhere!

Came here as part of government scheme. 3 main meals arrived, these were finished by the time the 3 other main meals arrived (this was 50 minutes after arrival to the restaurant). The sides were incorrect when they did arrive. Would not recommend the Carbonara - sauce very watery. Service was poor. Overall really disappointing and would not come here again.

Food was excellent but the staff really made our experience, we had a large group and had to changed our reservation several times and they were so accommodating. We stayed late at the restaurant and we were not rush at all, staff were so pleasant. Thanks for a lovely evening!

just had a fantastic steak sandwich in lough n quay tonight! match special was £12 for steak sandwich, side, sauce and pint. we both asked for medium steak, cooked to perfection and the tobacco onions were crispy and peppery...delicious! We'll impressed tonight plus the kids meal went down a treat, generous portions and great variety. we will 100% be back.

Booked a table for 4 last weekend. Waited 20 minutes on getting our menu. There was plenty of staff working so i expected it to be a lot more efficient. Food was great, very tasty. The staff didn't come near us to see if we needed anything. We had to ask for assistance several times. On getting our drinks from the bar, bar staff were standing talking, ignoring us. Waiting staff also not very professional.Would have been nice if we were asked if everything was ok. Overall, great food. Staff need to be more attentive to their customers.

Food was perfect. Got a spicy pepperoni pizza which was delicious. However service was very slow. Waited over an hour for our food.

Can’t fault the food. 5/5. And keeps this rating at average. Excellent bruschetta, the goats cheese spicy pizza was great. However we waited over an hour from placing the order. We asked the young waitress who was run off her feet is this exceptionally busy, she replied ‘no. It’s like this every night.’ They did their best but were pitifully understaffed. The smoke bellowing out of the pizza oven caused my partner to cough constantly and people coming in to be served from the bar added crazy noise and the unsettled atmosphere. The rushed staff were both at the bar and at tables. Such a pity, food amazing.

We had a large group. The service was brutally slow. Had to ask multiple times for jugs of water. Ended up clearing the table of empty jugs myself because the server brought jugs of water and left the empty ones. Had to go get extra napkins myself because the server never brought them. No one asked us if everything was OK. Not even when we were paying. The food was good enough but the service was brutal. The whole experience of the service overshadowed the food.

Arguably the best pizza in town, freshly made before you and the staff are friendly and accommodating. Never disappoints! 🍕🍺🇮🇹

Visited at the weekend with 3 of my friends. The service was extremely slow. We waited about 45minutes for a jug of water and about 50minutes for our food. The waitress appeared to write my drink order down, but then had to ask me again after taking the other drink orders. They also forgot the sauces we had asked for. Myself and my friend went for the steak deal - 2 sirloin steaks, 2 sides and 2 sauces for £25 - which is great value. The cut of meat was very good - however onion rings and chips were the saltiest things I have ever tasted. Another friend got the carbonara which was extremely bland! Someone else got the pizza, which looked class... but I will not be back

Very poor options for coeliacs. It's not difficult to cook a steak or fish with chips which are gluten free. This restaur ant is not interested in providing food for people with coeliac disease. They used to sell gluten free beer but have now stopped that. Was there last night with friends. Not impressed.

We were a party of 6 and while the food was reasonable quality I was the one who was forgotten and not until a reminder did my main meal arrive as the others were finished or finishing theirs.

This Italian restaurant is worth dining at. They have authentic recipes and good quality control as well as attentive, efficient service.

Lovely atmosphere with very good customer service. My mum and I had the burgers which were delicious, my husband had the calzone which he thought was delicious (this is freshly prepared by the pizza chef in front of you), my dad had the fish which he thought was okay and the kids ordered meatballs and spaghetti again it was fresh and very tasty. The kids desserts were yummy too, I appreciated the waitresses honesty when asked which desserts are made in house as I hate when I order something to find that it is bought in dried out rubbish. The raspberry ruffle cheesecake was good. All in all a lovely relaxing evening we will be back

My mum & I headed down for Steak Night last Friday. 2 Sirloins & all the trimmings for £25. Delicious food, Great Value, Brilliant Service. Relaxed & Friendly. Highly recommended. Go down & get your steak on! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Walking round Warrenpoint square looking for somewhere to eat and came across this place. Its part of the Lough and Key pub and although we ate in the restaurant part you can eat off the same menu throughout the pub. Staff were brilliant and very efficient even though we arrived quite late. I had the ribs to start and the calzone main. The meat fell off the ribs beautifully and the calzone cooked in front of us in the open kitchen was spot on. Deffo be back when working in the area.

We had a delicious 3-course meal here last night, with a couple of beers and some soft drinks. This is quite a small restaurant attached to the Lough and Quay hotel, but diners can eat further down the room in the bar area if they wish – which is what we did. The menu isn’t the most extensive, but there was enough on it to please us. We ordered Bruschetta and Chilli Prawns for starters, Rigatoni Chicken and Pollo v Roma for mains, followed by Sticky Toffee Pudding and Baileys Cheesecake for dessert. The food here is excellent. Everything was perfect, right down to the presentation and the crockery used. We were still talking about it this morning. The mixture of texture, colour and tastes was just superb. Service was very good, this is a very busy restaurant and the young staff, who were most pleasant and cheerful, were kept on their toes all evening. We would definitely consider a return here if we are up in Warrenpoint again.

Booked a table for 5 with family. My daughter and I had previously dined here and we were both impressed. I wrote an excellent review on trip advisor.

I went for a meal with my partner and his parents today. The food was delicious and could not be faulted. The rest of our experience was painful. We spent 2.5 hours in the restaurant at which point we had 1 course and 2 drinks each. The staff clearly lacked basic training in how to wait on tables and prioritise. No one came to ask us how our meal was or if we needed anything else. We decided not to order dessert and went elsewhere for this. We took bets on how long we would next be served and all lost after being ignored for over half an hour. We watched 7 empty tables be cleared before we gave up waiting to be served and went up to the till to pay the bill. We were the only ones there by this point and it was not late. The staffed seemed nice enough when approached but lacked basic training and had no direction.

The pizza here is probably my favourite pizza of all time. Every time I come here I order the exact same thing, though the other meals such as the pasta dishes always tempt me (my head just can't get over the pizza enough to try anything else). Service is always excellent and menu is great value for money. Wine is incredible (always important...). Restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere, great for couples or for a family.

Absolutely love this place and the food.

Have been here twice in as many weeks after not being here for about 6 months. I won't be rushing back. Return visit to see if it had improved-unfortunately not. The 1st time we waited 50 minutes from ordering until we got our food-discovered due to other customers complaining round us, that there was only 2 in the kitchen-fair enough but the pizza chef was standing doing not very much until a pizza order came through-surely he could have helped? I ordered the chicken dish priced at £16.50 which consisted of a rather small butterflied chicken breast sitting on 4 halved baby roasted potatoes, with a teaspoon sized portion of spinach, 4 sprigs of tenderstem broccoli and signature sauce. Small portion for a massive price imo....I was still peckish after eating it, made even worse by the price tag. Staff are pleasant but not always very tentative.

Great food from a varied menu and a good selection of wine and beer. The service is good and the staff are friendly and polite.

Located in The Lough and Quay guest house complex to make it a bit easier to find! Best place to go for a pizza in the area. Great selections of beers. Surprise, surprise, we had a great evening!! Thanks Sean.

Took the family in Jan 17. Menu is as you would expect (pasta, pizza, burgers) but very tasty. We cleaned the plates. Small issue was the price of desserts. Hence 4 stars. We'll certainly return though.

Me encantó este lugar, fuimos con dos niños, la comida era excepcional, la fecha era el 30 / 10 y el personal había disfrazado para Halloween. La comida no era de este mundo, sólo uno de nosotros tenía un flan como los demás eran todos llenos. Cena para 4 con bebidas (botella de vino para los adultos llegó a unos 80 libras, pero valió la pena. El calzone era enorme y bien lleno.

Went here for dinner on a Friday night in August. Over the course of dinner was served by 4 different people. Long waits in between every course and especially for the bill (about 15 minutes). Food was average for the price. Pasta was bland but inoffensive, prawn starter was nice but small, pizzas had way too much cheese. Dessert (the donuts) was an absolute abomination. Defrosted, tasteless, dry, one of the worst I have had in a very long time. Seems to do well because of a lack of other options locally. Went into the bar after for a couple of drinks and it was equally shambolic. One barman serving a full bar and doing the drinks for the restaurant. The place wasn't clean and dirty glasses were stacked all over the bar (in fairness the barman was ran off his feet so had no time to do anything about it). All the problems are easily sorted so hopefully they get their act together.

Visited with my wife and Mum at teatime and shared 5 starters between us from their evening menu.The starters were excellent and in particular the Calamari which was wonderful.Service was excellent and our host was very attentive.Two small flaws,there was a stale smell when we first entered at circa 5pm and the card machine wasn't working.That said,this was a great experience overall.

Have had a few meals here lately. Took my youngest son for his birthday as he loves pizza, he wasn't disappointed. Service that evening was very good. We returned 3 wks later for a birthday party. There were 8 of us in total. On this occasion food was good, but the wait between courses wasn't. I had to go and ask for our dessert. I had requested when we ordered if the Birthday boy's desert could come out with a candle on it, which i was told wasn't a problem. When dessert finally arrived, no candle.... i was told the staff member i had asked had finished work for the night and hadn't passed the message on. Other diners were also complaining about the wait between courses. There are too many pizza restaurants in Warrenpoint for the staff here to be so complacent. I will be going elsewhere next time.

I've eaten here lots of times.What a great Italian.Food absolutely fabulous. Midweek menu is well worth it and gives you a lot of choice...Although the normal menu has even more choice.The resturaunt itself had great atmosphere. Very friendly staff who work hard. Try it out...Not to be missed.

This was a while ago; 2015 but like others I had picked this restaurant due to the midweek deal. Checked price on line on their Website before we left the house. After arriving we were seated and given menus but not the midweek menu. So we asked for the advertised Midweek Menu (it was a Wednesday night!) We were told that the Midweek menu was now only available on a TUESDAY night!!! OMG are you kidding me you cant get more midweek than Wednesday!!. The 5 of us reluctantly still ate there at double the cost. So very disappointed. There are plenty of midweek deals available in Warrenpoint and Rosstrevor. Fusion's Wednesday Steak Night comes quickly to mind. The food at the Vecchia is good, but the Service is very hit and miss.2016 I was once in a party of 13 that had booked the upstairs window table 5 weeks in advance due to an important family function. When we got there we found we had been moved downstairs; due to them subsequently accepting a larger booking of 17 people. There was no actual room for our party, they had squeezed 13 chairs and a few tables into a space for about 8 people. We could not pull the chairs out it was crazy. After complaining we were moved to a bigger table in the main bar area. It was noisy and a lot of messing about but at least we could all sit down. I would not recommend booking anything important here unless you are totally flexible.

I cannot fault the food here, I have ate a few times before! It's of top quality.. The issue however lies with service.On our visit 26/6/16 we had 2 starters, followed by a pizza between 2 with a couple of sides to be brought out together. Our side dishes were brought out 10 minutes before our pizza, this I could have let slide. However dirty plates and cutlery had not been cleared from the starters.. There was no room on the table! Once we requested this cleared, the pizza was brought down. BUT we were left with no cutlery or plates for our main, leading to one of us having to get up off the table to get a waiters attention for same. I understand it's a busy restaurant, but simple things like timings and clean plates and cutlery are surely an expected given?

Just walking past and decided to stop and eat, sat outside taking in sites and reading menu. We were pleasantly surprised at choice of items, there is a HOT! pizza with choice of how hot do you dare. My wife had Salmon on bed of pea risotto with prawns, I had hot chicken calzone which was spicy hot and the best calzone I've ever tasted.They also carry an excellent selection of microbrewery bottled beers, I would recommend Joker.would we go again, most definitely.

Everything just ok, nothing out of the ordinary. Service was a bit hit and miss, food was alright. We were a bit cramped and very warm. The floor was slippy in several places. We wouldn't be in a hurry to go back.

I had booked my birthday meal in Veccia Roma on Sunday past after hearing good reports about the food. I know that the blues festival was in Warrenpoint over this past weekend and the town was very busy. We were seated straight away which was great but that was were the good service ended. We waited about 20mins to have our order taken ( not the end of the world). We finished our starters before our drinks arrived. We waited 30mins on glasses for our water which were then slammed down on the table after we asked for them for the 3rd time. Our individual drinks were just sat anywhere on the table the waitress didn't even ask who owned which drinks. We waited for over an hour to have our mains cleared from the table and this was only after we asked for them to be cleared and this was met with a roll of the eyes. By this stage we didn't have patience to order desserts. We were reminded constantly of how busy they were but why were the waitresses standing around doing nothing when all we were looking was glasses for our water. I understand it was a busy day but the customer service was severely lacking which is a pity because the food was delicious so i would eat here again but perhaps i would order it as take away.

For a change we called in here last night, i had the ox cheek which was very good, my wife had surf n turf ( sirloin steak with prawns ) medium well ,which was not so good, it was served in a sea of garlic butter the steak was realy tough ,stringy and so dry while overpowered with garlic butter. Staff were fine, but wont be back

Booked a table for 7 based on their promotion on their web page of Tuesday special 2 courses £10 and 3 courses £13. Handed menus with prices being £12 and £15. I brought this to the waitress attention. Told in an of hand way she knew nothing about web page, I tried to show her on my phone but she wouldn't look at it. Said web page must not be updated. I asked her to speak to the owner who conveniently couldn't be contacted. The bill was handed to us with no mention of the extra cost. I again mentioned this to waitress who quite literally verbally attacked me. Pity Ciara has such an attitude, food and service by other waiters were excellent. Shouldn't publish misleading information on web site and Ciara definitely needs training on how to speak to customers. Would I go back - definitely if Ciara leaves. Such a shame t

We chose here because of the mid week meal deal shown on website for our friend's birthday. However, on questioning the girl who initially served us we were told that the website was the 'old menu' and it was now in fact, the new price. When we pointed out that we had just checked it a few days ago (before booking) we were told "well it doesn't just update overnight" (because apparently they are in the process of updating?). I have checked tonight and the price STILL remains on display. Our problem wasn't insomuch the price which was only a couple of pounds each, but the fact that it was brushed aside. But worse than that was the horrible and rude way which the girl spoke to our friend simply because she questioned why our query wasn't properly answered (she had said she would check and get back to us regarding the price). It was totally uncalled for and what is more, ruined an otherwise lovely night with really good food. We were stunned into silence and felt so uncomfortable when she snapped at our friend "no need to be so rude"...when our friend had clearly NOT been rude. It was so embarrassing and unbelievably unprofessional. We will never be back. The seven of us left after our meal and didn't bother going to the bar as we'd planned. And on another note, our table was pre booked and even though the restaurant wasn't busy, our table wasn't ready. That in itself is no problem, but the waitress just walked away and told another waiter to go and put the tables together leaving the very polite waiter to explain that it would just take a minute. Thankfully the other staff were all pleasant. Such a pity we won't be back again to enjoy the very nice food.

This is my all time favourite place to eat. The pizzas are to die for and the staff are so friendly. I have been here with friends, family, as a couple and as a massive party and every experience has been enjoyable. The staff have always went out of their way to accommodate. They are also very child friendly. It is the perfect place to chill out in and it isn't too pricy either. It also does delivery and has a good mid-week deal. What's not to like? The only disadvantage is I wish it opened earlier than 5pm!

The kids were on their midterm break last week and wanted to go out for some pasta on Monday evening. I decided to ring to book a table, as we haven't visited Veccia Roma in a long time and it is notoriously busy at the weekend. I thought it might be the same over the midterm break as it's popular with families. However, this was not the case and there were just enough people in there to make a cosy atmosphere. My husband and I went for our usual pizzas - the Diavola which is spicy with a harrissa paste and the goat's cheese, although I had olives instead of carmelized onions. Both were delicious.Our kids had linguine with meatballs and spaghetti Bolognese and shared a garlic pizza bread. They said it was also really tasty - there certainly wasn't any left over!It was good to find that the pizza and pasta are still tasty at Veccia Roma and the staff are still as friendly as ever.

Great restaurant and lovely staff, found an area for me and my partner even though we didn't book ahead!Menu has loads to choose from I found it hard to pick!chicken parmigiana was amazing!quick Serbia and huge portion size!first time ever that just a main course has satisfied my hunger!5 stars all round

Visited this little gem at the beginning of January.Great food.Very friendly and helpful staff..The place was buzzing.Didn't have to wait long until food was served.Will be back soon.

Went there for an evening meal I had the seafood medley. A great choice of seafood well cooked with truffle chips. My wife had a pizza which was one of the best I have ever seen the Base was thin and well cooked the toppings were execlent. We will be back.

I can not comment more about a restaurant, veccia roma is a lovely spot the quality in food is out of this world, myself and my partner go regularly and we love it!!

What a pleasent surprise: after studying a laminated page of the menu which was quite extensive the impression was not very promising, but some extra specials of the day caught our eyes, fresh fish platter, but the waitress told us it was a selection of fresh fish with nothing else, only fish! well, we ordered it once with linguini and once with risotto: we were overwhelmed by the amount and variety of fish and the perfect taste, sadly the desert did not live up to this standard, tiramisu with cream on top for example !Would i return? of course, might try a fresh pizza next time, but i would probably skip desert.

Visited the Vecchia Roma as I'd heard about the two courses for £10 deal. Was looking forward to it as I'd heard great reports but I was really disappointed. I got the bruschetta to start and the tomatoes had the sour taste they have when they are going off. The carbonara was grey in colour and I couldn't tell what was mushroom and what was bacon. They were just all grey anr mushy. The sauce was bland and tasted powdery. I ate it because I was hungry but it wasn't nice at all. On the plus side the toffee pudding for dessert was lovely but I won't be back again.

Out all day touring around Slieve Gullion and did not fancy cooking on return to our house in Rostrevor. Lucky for us that Veccia Roma opens Monday evenings for us to drop in. Views over Strangford Lough with the mountain skyline in view against a fading sky. Great bottle of Italian red with freshly cooked thin crust pizza. Good sound system and music. Perfection !

We went into Mac's bar at around 3:30 on bank holiday Monday. We asked were they serving food and the barman explained that they did food in the Lough & Quay lounge and the restaurant (Veccia Roma) from 5 pm. We decided to have a drink and wait. Meanwhile about 20mins later another couple came in and were greeted by a different member of staff, they too asked about food and were told that the lunch menu was still being served in the lounge........We did dine in Veccia Roma and found it to be very good, despite staff cursing loudly at each other.The waiting staff were very good and the food was to a very high standard although I thought it and drinks were a little overpriced.

Despite my love for Italian Restaurants, I had never been to Vecchia Roma before. That all changed when my partner and I decided to attend recently. I must say, I loved every minute of it. When we first entered, we noticed how incredibly busy the restaurant was, but to be frank, it never took away from the experience!The pizza was among some of the nicest I've ever had, my partner went for a hotter one ('fire/smoke') and he enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed mine. Complements to the chef on the food! Although we found it hard to narrow down which Pizzas we wanted, there were so many to choose from! I must give a big thank you to Ross, who took care of us for the majority of the night and took the time to talk us through the wine menu, even on what appeared to be a very busy night! He was so enthusiastic to help and for us never having been to the restaurant before, we really appreciated his patience and consideration. We eventually settled on the Inferno Red wine which was divine, complementing the meal too.I am annoyed at myself that I didn't discover this little gem sooner. A lovely little discovery with incredible Italian food and polite enthusiastic staff! I will be returning to very soon!

Visited here recently with my boyfriend. The food was gorgeous and so much of it! I had a cocktail to go along with my meal which was yum! Overall a really good night and staff were more than helpful and accommodating. I can't wait to return!

We were at Veecia Roma early on a Friday evening for a birthday meal out with family, we had a great meal, there was definitely no complaints about the food. Our waitress was very helpful , and also very witty! There was a bit of a delay in between courses, some younger members of our group did get restless but it wouldn't put us off returning.

I attended this restaurant this week with a friend, becuase it's nice to have an old friend for dinner. But instead of dining in, we decided to go out because we had been dying to find out what all the fuss was about. I thought it may have been all hype but I must say that I genuinely was blown away by how amazing it was. The food was splendid. But the thing that stuck out for me the most was the staff, particularly one young gentleman who looked after me and my dinner companion. He also talked me through the wine list and made sure that we were enjoying our meals. Other restaurants could learn a thing or two from the accomodating staff. My friend praised their craft beer. I absolutely loved the Vecchia Roma. Amazing food, beverages and most importantly, amazing staff. Five Stars!

Had seen a recent review of this little slice of Italian Heaven and decided to take the family in for a meal last Tuesday. One of the busiest restaurants I have seen in a very long time, which really created an enjoyable and welcoming atmosphere! The service was fantastic. The young gentleman who looked after us throughout the evening was a credit to his team! The starters where fantastic and perfectly sized. For mains we thought it be rude if we didn't order at least one of their famous pizzas and we were not disappointed! Thin base, fresh toppings and perfectly seasoned. Our other mains were beautifully prepared and a pleasure for the taste buds! Fantastic Spot! Will definitely be back!

We decided to try Veccia Roma as we were in warrenpoint for dinner. We were not disappointed. The food was delicious. We had a mixture of spicy wings and ribs for starter, absolutely beautiful. Then we has pizzas which again were just perfect , followed by desert which was mixed fruit and oat crumble with custard and chocolate brownies with ice cream. We were served very quickly and efficiently. This truly is a gem of a restaurant. Definitely worth a try.

We enjoyed a wonderfully tasty and interesting pizza here, great service and nice ambience. The prices are also very reasonable.

We wanted to organise a family evening meal so earlier in the day my wife booked a table for five people but when we arrived we were seated at a table that was just about an adequate size for four people. It was obvious that it was going to be very difficult to find sufficient space for five dinner plates, side orders and drinks.Therefore, when we were given our menus we asked if we could move to a larger table, the table next to us seated six and was actually empty. The server told us that she would check the tables but she never came back to inform us if we could move tables. To make matters worse a party of seven then arrived and were seated at the table next to us which was only suitable for six. They were so close to us that our eighteen year old son who was seated at the end of our table, was shoulder to shoulder but facing the opposite direction with one of the other guests with another guest seated tight against the back of his chair, We felt so uncomfortable and crowded that we decided to leave. As we were leaving the table one of the staff asked if something was wrong I said that it was far too cramped, he said absolutely nothing and just started to lift our menus off the table. As we were leaving the restaurant another member of staff did say she was sorry to my wife and told her that they had a late booking! This only annoyed us more as we had booked several hours earlier but staff thought it acceptable to ruin our family evening by crowding us around an unsuitable sized table and then boxing us in with other guests because they had incorrectly accepted a late booking. Where's the staff training on customer care!We have dinned many times In the Vecchia Roma over last 20 years. For the majority of this time it was unnecessary to book as it was a first come, first served basis and when the restaurant was full, guests waited in the bar for a table to become available. Never during those years were we "shoe horned" around an unsuitable table which speaks volumes for the previous customer focused staff. Under new management for the past few years we have witnessed a decline in service standards but we were shocked at the lack of consideration and customer care displayed by the current staff. I am genuinely disappointed to say that after many years we will never use this restaurant again!

Food was great and staff were pleasant and polite and very helpfull, sea food was tasty and pizzas were great

This place has continued to impress in last 12 months, the menu is consistently delicious. Live the variety of pizza on offer and desserts are delicious.The young owners are dedicated, hardworking and very customer focused. Always feel welcome eating here. The offers each week are great- follow them on Facebook and Twitter under lough and quay for best ones. Monday deal is amazing value for money. Keeps us coming back in this economic climate as we can eat out well in this restaurant.

Quite a noisy restaurant as space is confined and families are welcome. However, food was very good and reasonably priced. Service - for us- was fine although the waitress did explain that it was busy and when clearing plates encouraged us to order our next course as she was that busy didn't know when she'd get back to our table!!

Veccia Roma definately didnt live up to expectation for our family occasion for 7.When we received our main courses thats were the SERVICE ENDED, no checking was everything ok or did we require anything else, no clearing glasses/bottles (which we had from the start of our meal ), or even the plates when we were finished ( we stacked them neatly to clear abit of room on our table ). Our birthday cake was taken out to a full dirty table with no knife r even sideplates. And when i was leaving i was met with a "You look stressed, have a good one" remark. WORST RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE !!

when visting warrenpoint we always vist veccia roma ,food good quality, excelent pizzas and delightfull sticky toffee pud ,Staff very helpfull and friendly and prompt service .would recomend ,the bar is worth a vist too .

On a recent trip to Warrenpoint we visited Veccia Roma on a few occasions, sometimes just for a drink and sometimes to eat in the restaurant. We were never disappointed with either the food or service. Recommended.

Myself and my partner visit Veccia Roma regularly and have yet to be disappointed. The most recent steak I got there was done to perfection, rare with no blood, this chef knows what he/she is doing. The staff are always so friendly and accommodating. This remains my favourite restaurant to eat in my a long shot. Keep up the good work guys :)

The food and ambiance here is wonderful. A great little place for a nice meal. our son could also enjoy the kids menu. Prompt service and staff were very friendly and helpful.

had a lovely meal for 60 birthday from my husband the cod cheeks were lovely and my husband steak was the last word thank you and watch this my party is tomorrow

Just left five minutes ago. Great atmosphere, few in adjacent bar having the craic. Restaurant & staff were warm friendly and very assisting. Not just to us, families were given drawing puzzles for the kids. Lovely wee homely atmosphere. New menu just gets more impressive with reasonable prices and generous portions. Possibly the nicest pizza and an amazing array of tasty starters. Italian menu starts as it goes on, each dish complimenting the silky Guinness more so. Could forecast this being a regular spot for all who visit.

Evening out with friends was made extra special by the fantastic Vecchia Roma. Our service, food, wine & atmosphere was first class as always. The pizza was incredibly tasty, best pizza in warrenpoint by far. Tried new chicken wings for starter highly recommend them. The staff were friendly attentive & accommodating to us all. The whole evening was fun from start to finish. I would recommend Vecchia Roma to anyone & will continue to enjoy many more evenings in their company....

Visited this restaurant with my wife & friends. Shocking!! The restaurant was very cold, the crab cakes had little or no crab in them, the Guinness was sour, water glasses were dirty & the Seafood Pizza had one prawn. I joke not. After complaining we were eventually served a pizza that had seafood on it. Why does this Restaurant think this level of service is acceptable. Why does the owner wish to be associated with such poor standards. I have never recommended that a restaurant be avoided but I am now. Save your money for elsewhere!!

went there with my family everyone's food was amazingwe all had different things from the menu. the desserts are to die for.you have to try the warm chocolate brownie if you go there.

I am a regular visitor to vecchia Roma in warrenpoint. The staff, food and wine is superb. The friendly atmosphere, quality of food & traditional Italian decor keeps drawing me back time & time again.. I have recently taken friends & family members from other parts of Ireland & everyone of them have being very impressed...I would highly recommend vecchia Roma & the lough & quay complex for it's excellent services. Vecchia Roma is very good value for money & I hope it is here to serve the public for many more years to come..

Very disappointed to advise the Veccia Roma has gone downhill. This used to be a lovely reliable restaurant where we frequented several times each year. We dined at the weekend as a couple and found the menu had changed since our last visit a couple of months ago. We always have the seafood here but there was only hake on the menu. The specials were not "special". I ordered a pepperoni & Chicken pizza as there was nothing else that appealed to me and its sad to say the toppings were so miserable... there were 8 pieces of pepperoni and 8 tiny cubes of chicken. So miserable and disappointing. A portion of hand cut chips was £3.95 although I didn't count them you would have had more crisps in a packet than the chips in the portion! Still hungry we were presented with the dessert menu - priced @ £5.95 per portion, well overpriced for what we got. The food tasted really good but the portions are far too little for the price being charged. Unfortunately I would be reluctant to return here again. So disappointed as its always been a favourite. Hope you get your act together Veccia Roma and have a look at your portion sizes!

Visited with my boyfriend for quick bite to eat . We shared a platter and had two starters. The platter had meats breads olives and peppers which was good. The two starters we shared were really good crab cakes and chicken skewers. The staff were really helpful with queries On what to have and attentive despite the restaurant being booked out. Overall we had a great time and the food was really good and we would come back

called in this evening for a meal because its usaully good food,1st the waiter that gave us our seat wasnt pleasant plus he knew that there was 2 adults and 2 kids,he came up to the table with 4 adult menus instead with 2 adults and 2 kids menus,ordered our food and the pizza came out with little toppings and was greasy,ordered a bottle of house wine which was £14.99 so they tried to charge us for a different bottle of which was charged at us for £19.99,so over all not happy and wont be back

we had a lovely meal in this restaurant but we found the servis slow , staff are lovely but could do with more there .I would gladly go back and eat in veccia roma

My husband and I had dinner here as part of a groupon deal - overnight stay and 2-course dinner. We were not disappointed.Our starters were goat's cheese stack and prawn and smoked salmon. Both delicious and good sized helpings. Only flaw was that the prawn and smoked salmon starter was served in a tall cocktail glass, so it was almost impossible to cut the salmon into bite sized pieces.Both our mains were lamb shank, one of my favourite dishes. The lamb was delicious, just falling off the bone and so tender. The 'honey roast veg' served with the lamb was really just a few carrots, but the very tasty mash and red wine jus more than made up for any deficiencies.A large glass of wine (250ml) was £4.80, and this was for a good Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon. Many thanks to Lena for impeccable service, and to the inimitable Shannon who made our cocktails and Irish Coffee.

The starter was a garlic bread pizza .. Very tasty , then we had fillet steaks . Cooked just the way we asked... they were lovely and service excellent

Went to Veccia Roma during the hot summer of 2013. Ordered a chicken pizza which was delicious, food was very tasty. Service was quite hectic, just myself and my partner were ordering, so it wasn't a massive order, yet the drinks were forgotten about. When highlighted our fantas were served at room temperature, which was disappointing. Staff need to tighten up on mannerisms and general customer service, theres no enthusiasm, not that it takes much to say hello and goodbye. Place is always busy, so although quaint and romantic on exterior, its a place for families.

I have eaten here time and I'm looking forward to the third!Everything about this restaurant is great. . . food, staff, wine, location price and atmosphere. Treat yourself!

My husband and I went here for my birthday. Atmosphere , food and staff all first class . The cooking of your own steak on the hot stone was fun and the best I've ever had and that's a lot !! Can't wait to go back in March , my mouths watering already .
