Umberto's Resturant in Havering

Really enjoyed our meal at Umbertos, staff were very welcoming & very knowledgeable about the menu. Explained the special board to us in great detail & showing us the fresh seafood available. All 3 courses were spot on & the lovely service rounded off a great evening.

Proper old school Italian family run. Chalkboard with the specials on it. Good value with great service attentive and friendly. Lots of selection on the menu with a wide variety of different food.

What a little gem. Had dinner here last night with friends. What can I say. Fabulous!! Food was amazing. Didn't even look at the menu as the specials board was loaded with lovely dishes. We had scallops..mussels...sardines..Halibut..skate..Dover sole and braised beef...everyone said the food was delicious. Will be back ASAP...excellent service

This restaurant is in one of Hornchurch’s oldest buildings and has a great ambience. The staff are friendly and helpful, listening to other diners asking for variations always met with “no problem, I’ll do that for you”. The food was amazing, all 3 courses were beautifully cooked and presented. Best restaurant experience.

It was my 80th birthday meal with the family. Faultless from the moment we arrived until we left, it was a perfectly paced meal, with suitable time between courses. Our pleasure was their 100% interest. The selection of food suited all palates, and was both expertly introduced and wonderfully produced. The whole experience was a complete treat.

Another celebratory family meal. Once again the service and food were excellent. Never had a bad meal or experience here. They have one of the best special board I have seen in any restaurant and complete menu in itself.

We went to this restaurant for a pre Theatre dinner. It's an Italian restaurant so we ordered pasta We were served 2 really small bowls of pasta for which we charged the Ripoff price of £36. I would avoid this place

From the moment you walk in and take in the quaint decor inside you are made to feel like a king and queen. Nothing is too much for the people who run this restaurant. A real hidden Hornchurch gem who more people need to know about. Every single dish was piping hot, delicious and priced well. The carbonara was something special as was the salmon linguine. The starters are amazing. Forget all the generic Italian food chains you may frequent. This is the one you want to go too. Authentic Italian food and a family run business. Antonio, Vincenzo and TIA(Thanks in advance 😉) you were amazing and we will be back again to try some more of your specials and staples! An absolute delight of an evening, spent with good company in a great restaurant! Thank you!

Food was lovely and the choice of menu was very good with lots of fresh fish. The setting was very relaxing. Staff were very attentive.

Have not been in ages and was not disappointed. Fantastic food, great explanation of every dish on the board, all food is fresh made to order. Starters were salmon and prawns wrapped and the garlic prawns. Garlic prawns were large and peeled. Main course was Skate (best ever), cooked perfectly and Cod In tomato, chilli and garlic sauce, beautiful. Nice bottle of chianti classico, and finished with Chocolate Orange Cake which was home made. The prices are the not for the faint hearted but worth every penny.

I have visited Umberto's many times and have never been disappointed. There is always a good range of special dishes as well as those on the menu. The food is well cooked, well presented and tasty. The service is friendly and efficient.

Tried Umbertos after seeing so many good reviews and we weren't disappointed. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly and welcoming. All the food is cooked fresh, but can be tweaked if desired. A real taste of Italy. I'll definitely be going back.

Well what can I say.... disgusting and shocking. I had to give it a rating of 1 star but trust me that's being highly generous!! So angry as I was recommended this s**t by a close friend. 1st and last visit ever, I expected so high yet all we got was a tasteless bowl of plain pasta & seafood linguine i would have rather eaten McDonald's and that's no joke. Service was astonishing and to make things worse the bowl used for my bread was then taken away and used for another couple without being washed!!! Dirty glasses were left on the side for over 2 hours and then because I made a complaint the staff then rudely tried to rush me out. Whether it was an off day or whatever... I honestly expected more from a traditional ITALIAN restaurant!!!!

This restaurant has been here for years yet no one seems to know of it except of course their regulars which there seems to be many. A family business always keen to give you perfect service, it is a little more expensive than its neighbours but a great place.

Phoned to book a table 30 minutes before we wanted to eat on a Saturday evening and they managed to squeeze us in. I can't praise this place enough, all the staff were extremely friendly and it felt like they wanted to be there rather than it was just their job. They all knew the menu down to a t and when shown the specials board every single option was explained in great detail which was a lovely touch instead of some student just reading a list of meals off of a board. The food was great and the atmosphere was very warm and friendly. GET THE PIGEON IF IT'S ON THE SPECIALS!!!!

I visited this restaurant many years ago and was very disappointed with the food and poor service by elderly bored members of staff. I said at the time I would never return !!!However, a very good friend invited my wife and I for a meal. Not wanting to disappoint our close friend we gave it another try.The staff were younger and more enthusiastic. The decor seemed brighter and lighter than before. The food was good. Another big plus to us (maybe not to everyone) was the fact that there was no loud music and we could sit and enjoy our meal and have a chat without shouting and straining our ears and throat. A lovely change to many other restaurants we have recently frequented.We will definitely return.

A group of 8 enjoyed our meal in this cosy restaurant. Mid week there were only 2 other tables occupied. The staff were very friendly and informative about the delicious Italian food. The entrance is a bit difficult to find - down an alleyway from the High Street, or off the car park from the rear - but it's worth it once you're inside.

My wife and I dined here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Immediately you enter there is a feeling of warmth and welcome.The decor is traditional painted plaster walls with original oak beams and panels,adding to the feeling of comfort and well being before you even see the menu and 'specials' board.From quite an extensive choice we chose starters and main courses, which were freshly prepared, served promptly and quite deliciousWe weren't bothered by too much "is everything OK Sir", but the staff were always there when we wanted them.A thoroughly civilised and enjoyable place, well worth a visit.

First visit for umbertos and was very disappointed as was very expensive! Small portions, and better quality food at other Italian restaurants in hornchurch and Upminster. Our bill came to over £300 for 6 people for starter and main including 8 soft drinks, 2 pints and 1 bottle of wine would absolutely never recommend. We are not in the west end we are in hornchurch.

. Dined here prior to visit to Queen's theatre and had limited time. Advised Antonio of this, and it was no problem at all. The service was excellent and attentive and the food was delicious, atmosphere great and cost reasonable. This was our first visit to Umberto's but definitely won't be the last.

A truly great Italian & it's within walking distance... Can't ask for better than that !! Superb food & service from this family run restaurant in very pleasant surroundings. Never fails to please.
