Ultracomida in Ceredigion

The shop at the front attracts you in with the vision & smells of wonderful cheese and other delights; I was happy to discover the tapas bar at the back & booked to come back with family; we shared a range of the tapas dishes, all were very tasty, and we enjoyed the food and drinks surrounded by so much wine! The seats were high, but as we had someone who would struggle with that they quickly bought in a lower table and chairs and made sure we had everything we need. This was a wonderful place for our first evening in the town.

Wow!!! What a great sandwich…. And what amazing value…. The sandwich I’ve just had was huuuuuge and filled with the most amazing pork loin, spicy peppers and mayo!! ….. all for a fiver!!!!!!! Madness!!!!! I Will be coming to work in Aberystwyth more often, even though it is nearly 3hrs drive!!! Really glad I stopped by, and looking forward to my air dried beef when I get home, this is my kind of heaven!

Loved the food in this place- we selected 5 tapas and a sandwich, all very tasty and fresh. Could’ve happily gone back to try the rest of the menu!

A noisy family group of seven, we were served quickly and cheerfully with a delicious selection of tapas and lemonade and glasses of cool manzanilla. All delicious and a great atmosphere. Also a wide range of Spanish cheeses, wines, olives etc. We will come back when next in Aber. Thank you!

We have been to their deli/tapas bar in Narberth a few times and it’s always been superb. We enjoyed our visit to the Aberystwyth deli and had some tapas at lunchtime. The tapas here is not so varied as in Narberth as the eating area is much smaller, but enjoyable nevertheless. Spanish black pudding (Morcilla de Burgos) with sweet peppers was awesome. Also had mushrooms in a creamy sauce. Service was prompt, friendly and professional. Lovely place.

Our second visit while here visiting family. Absolutely love this place, it’s a real gem. Delicious tapas and wine and a great atmosphere.

My girlfriend and I had the amazing toasted sandwiches they had to offer, and we thoroughly enjoyed them! We mentioned how good they were a fair few times during the rest of the day! Great food and service!

What a fantastic little place. Would have liked more gluten free choices but what we had was great, really lovely team working there, awesome ambiance. One of our favourite places.

My friend and I had lunch here while on a week's holiday in the area. It's an unassuming little place from the outside but once inside the foodie and alcoholic delights are apparent. The lunch I had with goats cheese and salad was perfect. I could eat this meal all day and every day. I washed it down with a beer and we had a good sized portion of mixed olives while our lunch was freshly prepared. Highly recommended eating place.

Ultracomida now have a lovely eat out by the sea location. Same great view, but near the beautiful sea. Highly recommended.

We escaped from the rain into this small but very enticing delicatessen of cheeses and Spanish wine, only to discover the eating area at the back. Our toasted filled bap was all the more delicious for being accompanied by a carafe of wine. Efficient and friendly service by youthful staff.

after a uni open day we nipped into Aber to get a feel of the town; this deli truly made it for me. with a wide and varied selection of cheeses, meats, and vin, you can really find everything you need here. specialising in Spanish cuisine we opted for a meat tray as well as the cheese of the week, a baguette, and other goodies. all of which was perfect. the staff in here of well informed and so welcoming, I wish we had time to stay for dinner!

We visited Aberystwyth on a Monday, which is when every restaurant seems to close. We stumbled upon Ultracomida by chance, having spotted the huge selection of cheeses from the window. Hungry and windswept, the decision was made to have a glass of wine and some tapas in the café in the back. Our server was so friendly and knowledgeable it made the whole experience. It was just lovely. Incredible wine and deliciously prepared tapas. The crab croquettes are a must. My grumble. To be served and charged £4.00 for pork scratching that sell in the shop to take away at £1.25 was not appreciated. Yes there is a premium for a bar stool and to be waited on, but a 220% mark up is not fair. I could have bought 3 packets and still had change, if I’d just bought them in your shop. This brings your score down to Average.

Being a new convert to all things Spanish and European, apart from their football teams! I had to visit Ultracomida while i was in Aber checking out my Welsh heritage. I really like the atmosphere of these places and this did not disappoint one bit. The staff were friendly but more importantly helped me work my way around the menu and wine list...as its all a bit new to me as I say! Would definitely recommend and would return if ever and whenever i am around. Just the job!

I have been going to Ultracomida for years. I had loved it until the last few visits as the food and ambience was different from the Tapas chains, and appeared to be fresh. I do not think that is the case anymore. Perhaps it is a bad week. I note a mother recent poor review. Today I saw them using repacked frozen battered aubergine, and the execution of frying them was poor. Result, greasy and tasteless. If you are happy with commercial pre-prepared food and pay for something better, go. Otherwise, go to one of the other original independent outlets in the region

Visited Saturday midday, only a few people there, I must say up until today we’ve always had lovely food! Today a big FAIL, ordered Gambas, patasbravas, and octopus , our patasbravas came first, five mins later my gambas came, also got covered in finger bath because the waiter tipped it due to the fact it was too full. Then another five mins later my husband’s food came, not a good start! On eating my second gambas I had to spit it out on the plate, it had gone off, the taste made me feel sick, my husband’s dish was appalling too, tasteless and covered in that much olive oil, you couldn’t taste anything else.This has definitely put us off from going here again, also I would say it needs a BIG clean, looks very run down and unloved!

In this small seaside town it is a pleasant surprise to find this small eating place inside /behind a deli./gourmet food shop. The dining area is small and plainly furnished. Food is very good and service staff pleasant. The breads are out of this world. I could not leave the place without buying some of the chorizos and even the best pack of pork crackle I have ever tasted in my life. This packet alone make my next few days driving a pleasure. We took home the the Chorizo, and nearly a month later it still pleases us when we have them for dinner.

Truly a taste of Spain with wonderfully flavoursome tapas quaffed with some excellent wines and accompanied by a great serving crew. The idea of table sharing is not new but works well here and the freshly cooked tapas are a real treat

We had a late lunch on a wet day but this place lifted our spirits. The deli has a first class selection of meats, cheeses, bread, olives, cakes and wines. The restaurant at the back benefits from all these ingredients in a wide choice of dishes. The service is relaxed and overall it was a nice experience. Highly recommended.

We have enjoyed several lunches at this tapas restaurant, and we were not disappointed when we visited for an evening meal. Four tapas dishes between us and an almond tart with creme fraiche for dessert, left us feeling satisfied. Ciders complemented the meal perfectly. Always a good atmosphere here and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Visited Aberystwyth first time ever to visit a recommended cheese shop to find it now has a full function Tapas bar ‘in the back room’! Wow! Completely blown away by the place, the food, the cheerful and very knowledgeable staff. Brilliant food and service, great menu, lovely welcoming atmosphere, just nothing negative.

After visiting aberystwyth many times before we never knew this was here. Was a fantastic food, loved everything about it. The service was lovely and very helpful, food was fantastic! Tried a good few dishes and we were not disappointed. Also loved that everyone is one a large tables was a great atmosphere. Will definitely be returning, and can highly recommend!

Ein Spanier in Wales Aberystwyth. Wäre dies nicht eine unbedingte Empfehlung unseres Hotels gewesen... wer weiss, ob wir hier gelandet wären. Im Vorraum eher Lebensmittelladen mit Käse, Wein und Wurst, ist im hinteren Teil das Restaurant untergebracht. An 2 großen runden Tischen haben ca. 20 Personen Platz. Dh, man sitzt nicht allein. Egal, flotte Bedienung und typische und gut zubereitete spanische Speisen, begleitet von spanischen Weinen zu fairen Preisen. Guter Abend, gute Empfehlung.

We have been to the Narberth shop many times but this was our first visit to the Aberystwyth shop. Similar feel and luckily open for dinner. Fabulous meal at the bar generous portions and a great wine list. Service was a wonder to watch ,chef and waiters in perfect harmony made for a seamless evening- thanks to all three.

The vermouth event was informative and interesting. As a group we were entertained with five or six special samples as well as complimentary food. The company was fun and it was an enjoyable evening. I bought a bottle of Spanish Padro & Co, the wine we’d liked best.

They don’t come much better, even in Spain! Take your sweet time over lunch, or grab some lovely meats and cheeses and wine and go. The staff are efficient, knowledgeable and engaging. If you’re staying, a vermouth aperitif is the best idea you’ll have that day. Love it.

Authentic Spanish deliciousness!! We went for a bit of cheese and ended up having an accidental lunch in the deli. Deeeeeeelicious!! The berenjenas fritas was lush and the croquetas de jamón superb. The other hidden gem is of course the shop - staff super welcoming and knowledgable, we bought various cheeses, some tocifritos, a bit of Serrano ham and a beautiful baguette - that was our dinner and it was perfect.

Good products, Spanish products. The selection of cheese is really good and the girl that served us really knowledgeable. The only thing that was disappointing was someone there speaking about what they need to do today something that as a customer don’t need to know

My boyfriend and myself love ultracomida and have been a large amount. Food is always outstanding and we have pretty much tasted the entire menu. We popped in on our way back from a camping trip to grab a tostada, as my boyfriend had been Raving about them. The service was amazing as always but unfortunately the tostada was dry this time and the cheese wasn’t fully melted. Just a little disappointed but will still be back .

We had a very nice travel break in Aberystwyth and had a great lunch here at Ultracomida. We loved the nice shop (great Jamon Serrano) which opens into a small and very pleasant restaurant. We wanted to eat at Pysgoty but as it only had 10 covers (?) and they wouldn't let us sit at the bar or outside, there was no way. So we decided to try Ultracomida.

I often call here when I'm nearby and need a snack. All the small plates are well executed and the wine's are great.

Ah! I love this place with its big sharing tables, it's warm friendly atmosphere and amazing food. Try the goat's cheese with honey, or the shark bites, or the meatballs in an amazing sauce. Or share an amazingly succulent lamb... The you could end with an almond medley - delicious. My granddaughter and I go regularly for Saturday lunch and have met the most delightful people from all over the country there. Fab!

my daughter and I went for lunch today the young gentleman serving recommended the Gambas al ajillo,Secreto Iberico,and the Berenjenas con Queso de cobra,we also chose the Montadito de salmon the food was devine we sat at the bar and watched the cooks preparing the food what a lovely relaxed atmosphere lacking in a lot of establishments these days I will be back Thankyou.

Every visit to Aberystwyth inevitably means a visit to Ultracomida and it never disappoints. We love the relaxed dining on the large tables and the food is always so tasty. The only problem we find is the menu is too tempting and we often have eyes bigger than our bellies and want to sample everything!

Stumbled across this amazing Spanish deli, bar & restaurant in Aberystwyth. Had my first taste of horchata and had a great salad and tapas. Great service and hospitality from all the staff. We will definitely return soon.

My wife, my daughter in law, and I had one of the best lunches ever at Ultracomida. We were celebrating my daughter in law's performance in a concert - part of Aberystwyth's MusicFest 2019. We ate morcilla con huevo, pulpo Feira, Gambas al ajillo (especially good), Secreto Iberico (very tender pork), Ensalada Rusa, and Merluza (hake) con lenteja. To drink, a bottle of Inurrieta Norte Tinto from Navarra. All first rate. Service . excellent and cheerful. Total bill £70.00 The main tables were full so we dined at the bar on high stools which even I, at 81, could manage. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.

They have been around for a while and do the Spanish thing well. Lived there for a couple of years and it feels like a medium to high range tapas bar. Make sure you check the price tag before you buy though or you might get a surprise!

Stopped here on our weekend coming from the football tournament in Prestatyn and decided to visit Aberystwyth and to to have a lunch here in “Ultracomida”.

The cafe is at the back of a magnificent deli. The sandwiches and tapas are glorious, the wines varied and reasonably priced as are the beers and the coffees (especially the baraquito) are excellent too. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly and the large shared tables lead to new friends and interesting and varied conversations. Highly recommended.

Entrance to the restaurant is via a shop stocked with the most amazing cheeses, wine, olives and other delights. Then an great friendly atmosphere seated at large round communal tables where everyone chats with each ther. Mainly mezzes - great variety all freshly prepared. Start with the olives and delicious bread, then try the shark, the goats cheese with honey, the meatballs or have a huge piece of lamb is if you'd prefer. Brilliant. And umpteen gins, artisan beers and fresh juices and other delights to choose from if you're so inclined.

We didn't get to stay for food, however we got to purchase something from the somewhat famous 'wall of cheese'. Really lovely and knowledgeable staff. Would recommend to anyone

Very helpful staff. Great selection of food. Generous portions and good advice on planning portions. Prices were reasonable and the big round table adds to the sociability with other guests. I didn't have it but I wish I'd ordered the Galacian cheesecake

We looked hard to find somewhere serving paella close to Lampeter. After a long search, we found Ultracomida. We explained how much we liked paella and how we have found "tapas" means a small and totally insufficient amount of food! We have not been able to find a pan-sized paella since we visited El Che the restaurant that used to be in Leytonstone.

Wow we were just passing and looked in as the front is a shop when you walked through it’s like an Aladdin caves didn’t realise there was a restaurant in the back. Just arrived in Aberystwyth, checked in at our hotel and went looking for somewhere to eat. We were about to give up and settle for fish and chips and we saw Ultracomida.

What an unexpected find! After wandering around Aberystwyth looking for lunch we stumbled upon this place by accident - and what an accident! After you stroll through the deli with its vast array of interesting meats and cheeses, you happen upon this little tapas bar. The service was quick and efficient, and the food was heavenly! The menu is small but perfectly formed - we truly were spoilt for choice. Everything we ended up choosing was well seasoned, cooked perfectly, and tasted divine. I cannot rate this place highly enough. If you’re in the vicinity you should definitely take the time to eat here. The restaurant is small and communal eating might not be for you but we thought it was fantastic.

Called in on the way home from North Wales to meet a friend who lives locally for lunch following a recommendation from a work colleague. I wasn’t disappointed! The menu was great - a wide variety of dishes were available to choose from. Something for all tastes. I had garlic mushrooms, goats cheese and sweet peppers, and cheese and leek croquettes - all very tasty. There were meat options and fish options available too. A great choice. Would recommend and will definitely be back.

Loved the venue with the deli at the front and bar at the back with large skylight. Liked the way the tables were set up with bar type stools around the edges and large, circular tables in the centre to accommodate large groups or communal eating.Great range of tapas options, bigger than usual tapas dishes.
