Great place sadly however complimenting staff and in my case commenting innocently on hair has resulted in being told by staff member that seems in their opinion I treat staff badly thus speaking to me while on duty is not in job their description, which sadly means ordering food and drinks then becomes a problem

Went in for some lunch before our annual trip to see its a wonderful life. Absolutely brilliant staff , our waitress laura was excellent and so polite and food was delicious. Very reasonably priced too.

Nice little cafe attached to the cinema. Very yummy mocha, scone was a little dry but this is the nature of a scone and what you should expect if you order such a thing. My friend Jess had the following to contribute: “V quick service lovely food 10/10”

Overall just ok, no hot food before 12 ( apart from soup ) menu choice limited and a little expensive. Service was good.

Can’t remember her name but the long haired lady was so sweet! Can’t thank her enough, very thoughtful and caring when we visited earlier on. 10/10 service from her x

Talk about customer service? Most of the staff are always miserable, rude and appear that they can't be bothered with orders, they lack personality. Whoever is the manager is obviously doing an abominable job and deserves to be questioned to! Such a shame though, for a place that's buzzing always...

Friendly place to eat on the ground floor of the Tyneside Cinema. The menu is nothing extraordinary, but tasty food for a fair price these days. Service was good. And you're supporting the cinema which is vital as they're struggling financially!

Popped in while awaiting a bus for tea and a beer. Interesting cafe/bar/stage with great staff. Service with a smile. Ideal for watching the word go by.

A unique place with history. Has a big screen at the back showing pictures and holds cinemas nights. Very good food and the service was excellent. There is also bar with alcoholic drinks. Access via Pilgrim Street.

Just a great place to go when you're in Newcastle. Great atmosphere for chilling out on a Sunday morning, or dining out with friends. It's a little gem!

The vegan hot dog is a big recommend

Went for breakfast only to discover that they no longer serve it. Therefore they lost my custom. A shame since they are clearly in need of money judging by the fundraising campaign.

Not busy, but about the slowest place I know. Gave up on waiting after half an hour and wandered off to get food elsewhere. Oh well...

Great place to unwind, nice and quiet good quality beers and nice food

Lovely atmosphere and very pleasant staff to great you on your arrival.Very clean and a good selection of drinks, light snacks, and meals also reasonably prices. Why not give it a try when shopping in Newcastle . We just opted for a light snack. Although ghe meals leaving the kitchen looked very nice and really good portions.

Nice enough place but it's not cool when you go to the gents and there's one unrinal and one cubicle. With the cubicle being out of order and no toilet tissue access. Not cool.

We had coffee and the hot chocolate here, the hot chocolate was very good and the coffee was good as well. The cafe has a nice atmosphere with past posters for movie festivals. The cafe is connected to a cinema which looked very quaint.

Didn't go because they have closed the coffee rooms upstairs. It used to be outstanding as a lovely art deco traditional coffee room. I used to take my Mum, who fondly remembers going there as a child during the war with the windows cross taped. You could get toasted teacake, poached egg on toast etc, outstanding chocolate biscuit cake. Now its just another faceless plate glass cafe off the street. Tragedy.

The full English breakfast is a classic choice, and it's one of the best I've had. The sausages are perfectly cooked, the bacon is crispy, and the eggs are perfectly poached. The rest of the breakfast is also great, with hash browns, beans and mushrooms. The coffee at Tyneside Bar Cafe is also great. They have a variety of different coffees to choose from, and they're all made fresh to order. I had a flat white, and it was one of the best I've had in Newcastle. The service at Tyneside Bar Cafe is also excellent. The staff are friendly and attentive, and they're always happy to make recommendations

Very chilled place nice feel and the bar staff are good. Ok range of beers and a good selection of drink very good selection of wines.

Absolutely great staff in terms of friendliness and attentiveness whilst I was there. My Cappuccino was top notch and the food is very decent as well. They show movies at certain times and the place has a nice ambiance. No other possum clientele sadly.

Stumbled across this place for breakfast one Sunday morning. The staff were excellent and the coffee and food were top end. Excellent value for money and would go back again in a heartbeat.

This was my first visit back here since lockdown and since their refurbishment in the tea rooms. I have been visiting here my whole life and was very pleased to see that the decor hadn't changed :) The menu had had some small tweaks since I was last in but they were minimal and there was no problem with the food and drink on offer. Myself and my companion ordered cheese toasties with the upgrade to chips instead of crisps. These came with a very nice tasting salad on the side. The service was friendly as always has been the case.

Great first time experience, staff were all lovely and efficient, especially the lady who took our order and payment, unfortunately didn’t get her name, the food was really nice, especially the fries. Will definitely return, wonderful place.

Nice place for a coffee or a drink from the bar. I had some lunch too; vegan hot dog with shredded onions and fries. Reasonable value in pleasant surroundings.

Absolutely stunning vegan breakfast, one of the best I've ever had. Husband had a tyneside breakfast and that looked delicious (and he said it was). Both were served hot and fresh. Service was spot on and such a lovely venue

Very friendly place, staff were lovely, I really liked this place. Decor is clean and colourful, a bright and happy place to eat. I had homemade sandwiches with chips and a nice fresh salad. I'd had my quota of coffee for the day, unfortunately, so I can't comment on that but my pot of tea was very good as was my food😋

Lovely little gem of a place for a light bite to eat to get away from the hustle and bustle. Great atmosphere and food was tasty too. First time visiting and most certainly won't be the last.

I have visited here since the sixties, many changes over the years but always a good experience but on our our visit since before lockdown it was such a letdown. I should have realised when there was no queue for tables at 1pm on a Saturday. The menu is much reduced to what used to be on offer. My husband got a BLT with plant based bacon no choice to have real bacon. The plant based bacon was limp and tasteless. I had mushroom soup which was OK but very herby. Staff looked bored and not a smile in sight. We won't be back.

Pleasant atmosphere food is reasonable and Menu is acceptable

Went in about 8pm on a Saturday night, the menus were still on the tables. We waited to be seated and asked if they were still serving food. There were plenty of tables to choose from so a took a nice seat by the window. We were left with the menus, there are enough items on it but I guess some things are a little bit dull. When we came to make our order we were informed there were no mushrooms to that meant the katsu curry was off. We said we would think again and when we came to make the order other items were also off the menu. There was not much choice so I went for the hot dog (one of the dull options). Although it was described as coming with fried onions. It was just a plain hot dog in a brioche bun with a mayo thinly lined over the top and a plate of thin cut chips. We were asked if we wanted sauce. It did seem like a way to liven it up a little. We were delivered a ramakin of packets of Heinz ketchup and mayo. Nothing was awful but it's really nothing better that if we went for fast food like a MacDonald's. It's a nice venue and the beer is good, if a bit expensive at £6 a pint for a session IPA. I don't want to do the place down but I'd just say it's better to close or at least tell customers that the menu is depleted before they sit down and order drinks.

If it's not broken, don't fix it! This used to be a unique haven away from the usual chain cafes and restaurants. I understand that it was an opportunity to change things a little, but it has really been spoiled. The lovely, comfy seats have given way to hard wooden ones which do not encourage you to linger(and spend more). The old posters, which gave it character have gone and so has the mature staff that ran this ship tightly. All seemed a little chaotic. On a basic hygiene note, the colleague with the long blonde hair needs to tie it back. I do not think that her stroking her hair away from her face when taking orders and serving food is very good at all, and amazed the management had missed this. However, this is basic food safety and hygiene day one stuff! Hopefully it will improve but definitely a step in the wrong direction.

Despite the changes and very basic menu due to issues trying to get a new chef .The staff were wonderful and the food was lovely but until they get a better menu I will hold back a while .who ever thought it was a good idea to remove the zero from the price listing needs there bumps felt .so instead of 5.50 it’s 5.5 this is not the venue for this

The coffee rooms closed when the pandemic hit, when the pandemic eased they did not open,but instead chose to gaslight their customers by claiming it would be opening in a few months, they have repeated this over the last 2 years along with stories of floods ,fires and refurbishments that never happen.

Slow service but it was understandable as they were so busy. Good quality.

Good place to pop into if you are looking for something to eat and drink. Varied choice of food and drinks. Part of the Tyneside Cinema complex so you could combine food and a film.

So much more than a quick bite before a film. Lots of interesting things on the menu to keep me coming back. Can recommend the fishcake.

Visited today for a light breakfast of scrambled eggs on toast which I enjoyed so would visit again.

If you're looking for good food and a lovely atmosphere then this is the place for you, can't rate it highly enough

Booked a table on Friday at 7pm to get drinks and food before going to the cinema at 8pm. Both the drinks (beers) and food we wanted (hot dogs and burgers) were unavailable. No explanation of the reason why by the staff. We had to choose another beer but weren't tempted by anything else on the menu so we just left. Don't think we'll come back as it used to be much better before it reopened - food quality and service drastically downgraded.

I hope the movies are better than the food. I will not be returning for food here, because it's not food. Pre frozen everything, from chips to chicken, terrible and my first order the Nachos was disgusting, so the chicken burger was ordered, for someone who can cook, this was worse than Mc Donalds. At least they got my first coffee correct, but the second was taken off the bill. If you want fresh, then this place is not for you.

The place is so nice, I love the vibe, the decor, staff were nice, prices reasonable. No complaints! I had the grilled cheese toastie with sweet potato fried and it was *ridiculous* - in a very good way!

Nice looking cafe, my son had soup and pint of cider which he said was fine but I had the hotdog and chips, absolutely horrible a really weird skin on the hotdog that was inedible, chips hard and cold. Cinema great but I would never use here again

The wine selection is decent. I ordered a iced latte, which could have been better. Espresso shot had gone bitter and you could feel that in every sip. The staff and the service was spot on, very polite and professional.

Nice bar/bistro, although it felt like customer numbers were back up to pre covid levels, the coffee was nice and they were able to accommodate my gluten free diet

They were open on Boxing Day in 2021. The staff was amazingly friendly, being incredibly nice and helpful to any inquiries. The wifi wasn’t available and the heater was quite weak. 2021聖誕節後一天去的，店員人超好，態度友善到爆，當天進店前被雨淋到都傻了，遇到這麼親切的店員真的好感動。窗邊位置看起來很讚，音樂是重節奏但音量剛剛好，暖氣不夠暖，隔壁桌也喊冷嗚嗚嗚，廁所乾淨寬敞，熱拿還不錯，中淺焙吧，奶泡很認真，內用麵包不會重烤，有點sad但還是吃很爽。

Always love the Tyneside, such a shame the Tea Rooms are still closed
