Tylers Tearooms in North West Leicestershire

Just came home from a very lovely afternoon tea for my mum's 70th birthday. Sandwiches, cakes, sausage rolls and quiche; their was soo much food for us all we came home with a box each to take away. There were 10 of us in total and the booking was easy over the phone from initial enquiry. Everything was soo fresh with unlimited tea and coffee, we were well looked after. Thanks soo much for making my mum's birthday a memorable one, you were really accommodating. Thankyou, Hayley

We booked for afternoon tea and were not disappointed by the whole experience. I selected Tyler’s as there was no pretentious posts or gimmicks. The staff were lovely throughout and we sat in a window table with a good view of the world passing us by. We were given a choice of teas or coffee and were then presented by a 3 tiered stand with a lovely selection of finger sandwiches and savouries. Great selection, flavours and very filling. We were then presented by the same size stand containing the best selection of sweet treats imaginable including some lovely warm scones. Overall a great experience at a great price. We dropped in here for an early morning breakfast to break up our journey from Sussex up to Scarborough. It was such a lovely and friendly cafe, very child friendly (we have a 3 year old and a 9 month old), and the breakfast was delicious and such good value for money! Much better than stopping at a service station. We will come back next time we’re passing by!

Having stayed in Derby for a wedding we were looking for a good honest English breakfast - especially as my friend was visiting from Canada and was lusting after a proper fry-up. We were not dissapointed as the breakfast we had (Tylers' Breakfast) was delicious, perfectly cooked and the perfect size. The staff were very pleasant, there was more than enough seating (including outside) and the village is delightful. Recommended.

Went on Mayday, and they had some lovely cakes available, which admittedly were very tasty! The place was packed so clearly popular! Though it was £4 for one slice of cake, which is on the pricy side! And they only accepted cash, no cards or contactless, was very annoying!

Gosh. What a lovely place. Very kid friendly, I had 4 with me! Kids had amazing breakfasts , which the waitress customised for my fussy eaters, including the vegetarian opton. Loved my coffee and would return next time in the area. ASD friendly. Thank you.

Dropped in at east midland airport and went on and stopped at Tyler’s Tearooms for breakfast. What a fantastic choice, wonderful staff, great food and very good prices. Had a fry up , pot of tea and a slice of cake, all delivered with a smile. Deffo visit again, top marks 👍👍

Nice little cafe in the centre of the town, visited around 1.45 (last orders at 2pm) ordered a Tyler’s Breakfast and Jacket Potato Tuna Melt with drinks, The waitress brough the meals over in good time, The food and drink were great quality and very tasty. Well worth a visit 👍 One piece of advice… Look out for the specials board! I missed it but maybe would have gone with the Ham and Eggs 😂

Really nice and friendly place. Staff are really helpful. Food is great and coffee is great. I would advise people to book for a Saturday to avoid dissapoint as it can be very busy inside and outside.

We chose the tearooms as an alternative to the motorway prices. They were still serving breakfast at 13.00 on a Saturday and we were very happy with our English breakfast, scrambled egg on toast and pot of strong tea. Lovely friendly service and gentle atmosphere. No room for the cakes this time. Extremely low prices too.

A sign outside saying they were short staffed and could we be patient. We didn't need to be patient, service was great, soon ordered and food arrived, freshly cooked and hot. Sausage was tasty, bacon had a great flavour just a shame they hadn't cut the fatty bit off. The breakfast came with two eggs, mushrooms, beans, tinned chopped tomatoes and a slice of chunky toast. It was all good and a great price. Will be returning.

Went for breakfast with a friend on Thursday morning. The cafe was busy but we got a table. The staff and owner were so friendly. The cooked breakfasts were great and really reasonably priced. Will come again!

Not been here for a while and it use to be our favourite coffee shop in town but not anymore, visited yesterday Friday 5th Nov 2021. Wasnt busy at all. ordered quickly but was a long wait for drinks and toast. coffee wasnt very warm, toast was not fully cooked and not enough butter provided Shall not be going here again. Previously some mature ladies ran the place but yesterday were young girls who were far too busy chatting

Delicious lunch of quiche with salad and chips and a good pot of tea! Can always rely on quality home cooked food from Kate and her team. If you are going to go anywhere in Donington then it has to be Tylers!

We were looking for lunch in Castle Donnington and expected plenty of places to chose from but could only really find two or three in the centre of the village. We had passed Tylers on the way along the street and as it looked the best option we walked back to it, and were glad we did. Being near Christmas it was quite busy but we were attended to quite quickly by the very pleasant staff. It is table service, giving a good choice of lunchtime food like sandwiches, toasties, bagettes etc with a variety of fillings. We had a bagette each with the choice of chips or crisps and a side salad. As it was Christmas we had a delicious Christmas pie each and a lovely pot of tea between us. All this only came to £13.10, which I thought was excellent. I would certainly recommend Tylers both for the food and the excellent service.

I love a good fry up and they can be so hit and miss. Tyler's clearly hits the mark with locally sourced product on the plate. Juicy sausages. Fantastically smoked bacon and proper toast with a good colour on it.I love my food and I love to eat out so it's not often a bit of bacon and a sausage rocks my world. But as they say its not what you do it's the way you do it and the ladies here clearly cook with love. Customer Service is also spot on with everyone made to feel like a local.I was a bit weary on cleanliness having read other reviews but if the ladies weren't serving they were cleaning as they went. So it's no suprise they've got a 5 star food safety ratingIf you're anywhere near and fancy a fry up take a trip to Tyler's. You won't be dissapointed

Have been here a few times and it has always been friendly and welcoming.The staff are really helpful and it has a lovely warm atmosphere as soon as you walk in and it's usually busy - because it's a nice place to be.Serves Illy coffee - very nice and the food has always been excellent.This is how a coffee shop should be - thank you

Just had an absolutely fabulous Afternoon tea at Tyler’s with friends and family for a birthday treat. I am a Tyler’s regular but it’s my first Afternoon tea and was the first visit for most of my family. As usual, it did not disappoint. So much lovely home baked food including sausage rolls, vegetable quiche (not had the quiche before it was soooo good it certainly won’t be my last Tyler’s quiche) sandwiches with beautiful soft bread and then there were the cakes. All the cakes!! We’ve all come away very full, very satisfied and with plenty of left overs to fight over later. Kate and the team were lovely and welcoming as always , this place. Recently moved to the area and wanted to find a good weekend breakfast, and found Tyler’s today (28/9) which offered a great menu with great prices. Order a regular latte “extra hot” and it was perfect and the Desperate Dan breakfast at £3.85 was just what was needed. Certainly be visiting again.

Just had an amazing afternoon tea to celebrate Mums birthday. A wonderful selection of sandwiches, sausage rolls, quiche, scones and lovely home baked cakes and some left to take home too. Very reasonably priced and lovely helpful staff.

I often take my two Grandsons for their favourite Cheesy Chips and a marvellous Freakshake. A nice selection of hearty food on offer. Some nice touches such as homemade coleslaw and potato salad with the salads and jacket potatoes. The hero here has to be to fantastic array of homemade cakes. They are truly wonderful!

My first visit this morning and a bacon bap to die for! The ideal place to have a chat about business, well tuned out in the happy buzz of satisfied local customers. The decor, amount of natural light and split level all added to the olde village charm. A must visit.

Delicious meal again.. steak done to perfection. Coffee was 'effective' with the caffeine rush. Life-saving venue. One day I 'shall' attempt the amazing looking afternoon tea.

I met my friend at this tea room by default, we were due to meet at another one but it was close, thank goodness. Staff were friendly from the off, and although we only had a coffee and a cake, nothing on the visit could be faulted, so much so I took three cakes home with me and will be back to sample their menu,as if the food is as good as the cake and service I received today, I am sure my wife and I will enjoy the visit, in the near future.

Came across this place while exploring the village with some friends, got a mega breakfast for under £10 and was the best thing I've eaten all week

Introduced 4 friends to Tylers this morning, who were visiting the area, and wanted something to sustain them through until, they reached Plymouth (home).

Thanks to all the Girls at Tyler Tearooms for looking after us on our Wedding Day. It made our special day even more special with a super Desperate Dan's all round some with tasty tweaks and the marvelous sponge. The generous teapots supplied us with copious amounts of tea. Great service and no rush made us feel set up for our honeymoon flight. Recommended. Paul n Jackie x

So Tyler’s and many of the cafes in the village aren’t very big especially when you have twins, but Tyler’s always try their best to fit me and the boys in... and when they were younger even in their double buggie.. as their door is plenty wide enough for out bugaboo pushchair (width of a wheelchair)

Called here for lunch, busy little place with a varied menu. Nothing too unusual on it but something for all whether it be the full English, bacon butty, panini or lasagna. Maybe just a piece of yummy looking cake. It all looked to be home made and delicious.

I treated my friend today for an Afternoon Tea, it was excellent and good value for money!! We got a choice of sandwiches and cakes, everything was so fresh and very tasty. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive even though they were really busy. We couldn't eat it all so we were given boxes to take home the remainder! I have been for about 4 different afternoon teas at various places in the east midlands and this is by far the best one I have had! Would definitely recommend.

I know that Tylers if famous for its fabulous cakes, coffee and lunches, but did you know that you can also book it if you want an evening get together for a group (minimum 12) with a delicious meal. A couple of weeks ago we went with a group of friends for an annual get together and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The food is absolutely delicious, freshly cooked and even though there were 22 of us, nobody had to wait. The portions are hearty, plenty of vegetables and special mention ought to be made of the prawn cocktails and Eton Mess pudding! The service was excellent, as usual and its always a pleasure to eat here.

I love this place... it's becoming a regular haunt when I'm in the area on business. Lovely breakfasts and homemade cakes, supporting local suppliers. Cracking place. Recommended :-)

Love popping in here. Always get a nice warm welcome whether it’s just for a take out coffee or sit down for some lunch. Staff very friendly and welcoming. If you go you need to try the home made cakes they are amazing!

Finally got to have Afternoon Tea here. This was the nicest afternoon tea I have had ever ❤ I have been to Tyler's before for breakfast and lunch and always wanted to try afternoon tea. You can even have Afternoon Tea to take away .

We went to Tyler’s for the first time today as a treat for my birthday. We had afternoon tea and it was fantastic. We chose the sandwiches we wanted which were all freshly made along with an assortment of home made cakes. The staff were lovely and very friendly. We had to take some home with us as there was so much. The price was very reasonable as well. We will definitely be going back.

Every single time I have been to Tylers not only is the food delishious and all home made. Its hot, very quick and cheap! The service is top notch too!!

The afternoon tea at this wonderful place is without doubt, the best I have ever had... Fantastic selection of delicious homemade cakes and savouries, fabulous service and incredible value. This is the second time I have enjoyed afternoon tea here and would highly recommend without hesitation. simply wonderful!

Tylers is a meeting place for many people and a special place to celebrate almost anything and the service by the friendly staff is second to none be it for or a quick drink of tea, coffee, milk shake, wine or a meal or party with all the trimmings. The cakes etc that are made in the kitchen and brought out sometimes get put in the displays but sometimes cut and served before they have chance, YES they are that good, try them you will not regret it, the same goes for all the food there.

The new coffee and espresso machine produces great coffee. A flat white and a bacon cob is the perfect start to a day.

I can honestly say this is the best tea rooms I've ever visited (and ahem... I've been to quite a few)

Although Tylers is always are go to place to eat every Saturday morning for breakfast, for the great food, value for money, to be enjoyed with what we consider to be friends as opposed to just staff. Every now and again we also go for lunch, which is always great and totally homemade. And can’t fault the quality and selection of afternoon tea. Tylers tick every culinary box. Always look forward to our brekkie.

Absolutely lovely staff, service and Customer service. My family were there the other day for lunch ( we reserved a table) we had finished and were getting ready to leave then a man and his family came in and were extremely rude to a member of staff and stomped out before she had time to explain that our table would be ready in 2 minutes. We had an excellent meal so they missed out for the sake of rudeness xx

I visited with my wife yesterday for breakfast we both had the Tyler's breakfast and it was lovely!! We both had a latte (illy coffee) to drink which was fab! I have been to Tyler's a few times before and the staff are great, sooo bubbly and nothing it's too much trouble! If it's breakfast, lunch or just a quick coffee this is the place!

I've been using Tyler's for years either for family special occasions or for a catchup over coffee and cakes. It gets extremely busy due to the excellent food and lovely staff. We've never been disappointed. I would recommend booking at busy times.

So it's the first day of half term and all my 14 year old wants is lunch at Tyler's. To be fair for our family it's any excuse, after school treat or a sneaky lunch for two when the kids are at school.

Been coming here for many years after (very happily) stumbling upon it in 2012. I have never had such friendly service anywhere. The staff are always a delight, and the food is prompt and fresh. If you haven't treated yourself to one of their cakes I suggest you stop reading this review, go straight there (possibly wait for it to open) and buy yourself one now because you will not regret it.

Being just a short walk from work and home, Tyler’s is always my first port of call when I need a little pick-me-up or a treat. I stopped by this week to sample the new coffee machine and safe to say I wasn’t disappointed! Quite possibly the best gingerbread latte I’ve ever had! As always, I had to have one of Kate’s scrummy homemade scones to take away too with a lovely little pot of jam and some butter (the photos just don’t do it any justice). I always try to visit for the breakfast whenever I can too, highly recommend.

We called in today as the cakes looked good and it was busy. There were 2 empty tables, however they had a reserved notice on them. We sat at one of the tables waiting for another table to become empty. We were told we couldn't sit there. When a 3rd table became empty, we sat there. The waitress came over again and said we couldn't sit there as it also was reserved, even though no reserved notice was on the table! As there were no other tables, we had to leave. We shall never return there!

Came over to Castle Donnington to take our dog for x-ray after its operation. Whilst that was happening we had time for a spot to eat and found this gem of a place.

A great little tearoom, with great coffee and fabulous home-made cakes. Always well worth a visit! Very popular with locals.

What a fabulous tea-rooms to visit. All the cakes and pastries are made on the premises. A lovely smell of baking when you walk past the kitchen window in the morning. Fantastic value for money and a lovely friendly and cozy atmosphere. Well done Kate.

What can you say about our local tea rooms? You have to come and visit yourselves to see. It's home from from home, homemade quality food that is all made onsite with love. You are always made to feel welcome by one of lovely members of staff.

Went to a local bar in Castle Donnington who told us there was nowhere locally for a fry up. So as we went to leave, we spotted this tea room and thought we would give it a whirl!

We visited here a couple of months ago after a walk around Melbourne. We had a sandwich and a soup with a coffee and a coke very reasonably priced and good service. A little slow to clear away plates but it's a nice little place tucked away. Worth a visit if in the area.

My partner and I enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea here today. I am a vegetarian and sometimes when I go to places to eat they are not always prepared to accommodate my no meat or fish request. Tylers were wonderful and made sure there were plenty of gorgeous sandwiches and quiche for me and were lovely to make no fuss. Sounds simple but trust me I have eaten in places were they make you feel you are a nuisance because they have to change something. The cakes were delicious and the staff were so pleasant. Would definitely return when we are in this part of the country again. Thank you for a lovely tea.

On holiday here visiting family locally and went to Tyler’s Tea Rooms for a drink and a bite to eat. I had found it on the internet before leaving home and decided it was worth a try. We wern’t disappointed. The staff were delightful, the prices very reasonable and the whole atmosphere of the place with it’s quirky decor made for a pleasant visit. Of all the cafes we have visited, this is the ONLY one who asked if we would like our scones warmed! Yes please it’s the only way to eat scones. Thank you ladies.

Each year around Christmas time we hire out Tyler’s so that our family across three generations can enjoy time together in a relaxed atmosphere with fabulous food and friendly staff. Great value three course meal for about twenty of us at a time, all seated at the same time and not one of us having to worry about the kids running riot or timing the cooking or who is helping with washing up, thank you Tyler’s!

We went here on our way back to London as a slight diversion, after reading great reviews, as we wanted to stop on the way to the M1 with the doggies. Tyler's fit the bill perfectly.

I loved everything about this place. The staff were warm and welcoming, the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed despite it being exceptionally busy during the Download weekend. I went every day throughout Download and each breakfast was perfect. It’s a wonderful local business I was delighted to support during my stay. Looking forward to Download next year so I can visit again. I recommend it wholeheartedly. Thank you Tyler’s.

Tyler’s do the most amazing ‘proper’ full English and also my favourite Victoria sponge ever! You can tell everything is made with love and the staff and the owner are always so happy and helpful. I 100% recommend the afternoon tea. I went alongside my parents and had to help them finish it. The biggest afternoon tea I’ve ever seen- but the quality was still outstanding. Love this place

I have been here several times since my Brother organised my baby shower here in November 2017.prior to this I had never been, but I fell in love with these tea rooms I go regularly now meeting my friend who has recently had a baby too. The tearooms accomodate is really well, the food is always delicious and the service is excellent we never feel rushed. The only criticism I have is there is no where really to change baby but that’s a tiny moan I will still choose to come here on a regular basis

Visited the May Day market on Monday, and decided to treat the family to a slice of home made cake from Tyler's . In all we had 6 different varieties, and sorry to say that no one enjoyed them.

My other half and I popped in here at around 2pm on a Tuesday following a trip to Donington Park and found it to be welcoming and well priced. We both had a slice of cake and shared a pot of tea for 2 which was more than enough for the both of us, all came to £6.85. The Victoria Sponge was so moist and the jam was to die for. My partner thought the chocolate cake was delicious. I was pleased to see that the place was full. I am always behind a small business and this one seems to be doing very well for itself. The staff are also very friendly. Should we return to the area we will definitely be coming back to these tea rooms.

Made very welcome here, had a planned walk with our ladies walking group at Castle Donington and the Tearooms was perfect location for our lunch. Highly recommend, food very well served, good service even though they were very busy.

Unfortunately our visit was very disappointing and off putting due to the very dirty state and lack of cleanliness of the cafe and I feel I need to highlight the issues so good cleaning practice can be put in place and maintained ! Kate please check all the points I am about to make .

This was a really lovely place to visit for afternoon tea with my Mum. We were amazed at how much food we were given, and it was very nice that we were allowed to take home what we couldn't eat. The bread for the sandwiches was amazing, and the highlight was definitely the delicious scones with cream and jam! All for a very reasonable price as well. Thanks so much!
