A great village country pub with welcoming and friendly staff, lovely atmosphere with an open fire, dog friendly area and an excellent menu with hearty pub fare but with a range of delicious specials too. We went for dinner and managed three very generous courses and went back for lunch a few days later. Very impressed with the team and food. Would highly recommend.

What an amazing country pub for Sunday lunch, the setting is picturesque driving through Pett, ample parking, and a beautiful entrance to the bar with an open fire at the bar. The dining area has lovely low ceilings (mind your head), there's a great food selection, the welcome is warm, the service friendly and attentive, and the vegetarian option worthy for a roast beats most other places offering. Price point is just right. Overall, we were seriously impressed and would come back in a heartbeat if we were in the area. Perfect way to celebrate a birthday. We were a Couple dining.

We were recommended this pub by our hosts, and we would be more than happy to pass on our recommendations, too. There is plenty of parking to the side and rear of the pub. The service was excellent, very attentive and friendly staff throughout our meal. We had ham hock crockets with homemade piccalilli for starters, and the mains were sea bass and rib eye steak, all cooked to perfection and very generous portions, and good value for money.

Atmosphere in the bar in the evening was great- felt part of the local Community. The 16th Century inn is full of atmosphere- plenty of beams and nooks and crannies. Our room was beautiful, well equipped and clean. Really appreciated fresh milk in the fridge for tea and coffee. In a beautiful part of the world- we will be back in the bluebell season!

Chose The Two Sawyers whilst we were in the area for a family get together as they feature a good GF range and are dog-friendly. We experienced a warm welcome and at no time were we hurried to order or eat. The food was fabulous with all seven of us offering a five-star rating. In fact my father said that the sticky toffee pudding was infinitely better than one he had at a Marco Pierre White restaurant a few weeks earlier. As for me, a special mention for the fully loaded chips which were just fabulous. I wish I lived closer so I could make a return visit. I'll certainly make tracks back here next time I'm in the area. 10/10 (in fact 11/10) 😁

Some of us had the roast beef lunch others off the main menu. Once again absolutely delicious. We were so impressed with visited on two more occasions with other family members . A Countryside Gem in Pett Nestled in the serene village of Pett, surrounded by lush green fields and woodlands, and just a short drive from the beach, this pub/BNB offers an unparalleled escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The location itself is picturesque, but it's the amenities and service that truly stand out. Parking is never a concern with their spacious lot, a boon for anyone who's faced the woes of limited parking in popular destinations. The expansive outside area, with its meticulously maintained grounds, provides ample seating options for guests looking to drink in the fresh air and idyllic views. The building, a historic structure from the 1600s, exudes charm and character, giving guests a delightful sense of stepping back in time. Inside, the bar area buzzes with locals, eager to share stories and insights about the area, making it a hub of local culture and camaraderie. The in-house restaurant is another feather in the cap for this establishment. On my visit, I indulged in a fish dish from the specials menu. Perfectly cooked to have a crispy skin, yet maintaining a tender and fluffy interior, it was a testament to the chef's skills. The following day's full English breakfast, complete with locally sourced sausages from a nearby butcher, was generous in portion and rich in flavor. But the pièce de résistance of our culinary experience was the roast dinner. As we awaited our order, the air was filled with rave reviews from fellow diners, amplifying our anticipation. We weren't disappointed. Even at the last sitting, the freshness of the food was evident, with vegetables cooked to perfection and meat that melted in the mouth. The portions were generous, and the taste? Simply the best roast I've had in ages. In conclusion, if you find yourself in Pett and are looking for a place that combines history, hospitality, and haute cuisine, look no further. This pub/BNB is truly a countryside gem. (Review of pub only) Highly authentic 16th century country pub recommended to us (and for good reason) by our AirBNB owner. We sat outside on a warm evening in the spacious garden (pity about the family who let their kids run around scaring the dogs). Food was superb - tasty, presented well, and delivered promptly. Must stop if you're in the area.

I recently visited The Two Sawyers, a charming local pub! The atmosphere was quaint and cozy, perfect for a relaxed lunch and dinner. What truly stood out was the excellent service - the staff was incredibly attentive and accommodating. The menu offered a delightful range of options, and everything we ordered was delicious. Even our picky toddler couldn't resist the kid-friendly choices. So, if you're looking for a spot that combines great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and outstanding service, this quaint pub is a must-visit.

We stayed for three nights. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. Access to it, and other bedrooms, was via a steep and difficult stairway. Anyone who is not fully fit and able might find it very difficult to climb. It was disturbing and potentially very dangerous to find a fire door wedged open. Particularly as on three occasions the fire alarm in our bedroom went off and we had to find a member of staff to establish whether or not there was a fire. Apparently smoke in the kitchen was the cause. We had breakfast on three occasions, on two of them the breakfasts were excellent. The poorest breakfast was the first we had and the service was haphazard and the food was over cooked. The cost of accommodation here is not cheap so to just put a notice in the room stating that they can’t be bothered servicing the room during our stay is just not acceptable. We had dinner on our first night, one meal was fine the other was not. The shredded duck salad was spoilt by the duck being so overcooked that it was hard and stringy. Just about edible but not enjoyable.

My husband and I have often had Sunday lunch at The Two Sawyers, one of our favourite local pubs. However, when we lunched there yesterday it was clear the place had changed hands, as several pub classics like steak and kidney pie, had disappeared from the menu, and the only Special was a fish dish which actually wasn't Special because it was already on the main menu. My husband chose roast beef, but his roast potatoes were rock hard and almost black - likewise his Yorkshire pudding. He complained to the waitress that both were inedible and she said there would be no charge for his meal. My chicken Caesar salad promised crispy bacon, Parmesan and anchovies. To my horror, the anchovies used were the white ones in vinegar, not the salted and preserved kind canned in olive oil, as they should have been. The white ones tainted the salad with a fishy flavour. There was one small piece of crispy bacon and no discernible Parmesan. On the plus side, the desserts - apple crumble and crème brûlée - were tasty and generously portioned. But we won't be returning to The Two Sawyers, sadly.

We have loved coming to this pub for both the food and the area. The nearby walk at Pett Level didn't disappoint. However our pub lunch was very disappointing. Sausage and mash and sausage and chips in a basket. The first meal had three sausages but the veg and mash were such tiny portions. The second meal of sausage and chips in a basket had dry overcooked crunchy chips. The sausages were all different flavours which was rather strange especially as one was chorizo flavoured! A description of the flavour sausages on the menu which are bought from the ,oval butcher would have been helpful. Priced at £12.95 & £13.50 I would expect better than the meals we received.

Nice country attractive pub in Pett village - good selection of real beers. Cosy bar area and restaurant quaint and comfortable. We booked online as it can get very busy - we went on two occasions and at 715 pm then you can avoid the crowds a little (and fewer kids). Limited standard menu and they have good daily specials which I had - all food was well prepared and tasty. Picture is of the smoked salmon starter. Lovely pub with plenty of outdoor seating and loads of parking. Very small bar right in doorway. Gorgeous fireplaces x2. Tables were a bit sticky. A side of cauliflower cheese came as a dessert spoon fill approximately, on the plate and not in a side dish bowl. At 2£ extra, I would expect at least 2 spoons in a separate dish, as sides normally come. To picky? Roast rack of pork had at least 3/4 inch of fat and the meat was mostly pink this Sunday lunch. Asked for it to be wrapped for my foxes. The crumble on the apple was delicious the apple slices not so much. The custard was a water consistency and not appealing....to me at least.
