Turkuaz in South Norfolk

We don't go out for a meal often as money is tight. So this was a very special occasion. What a disappointment. The waitress/hostess was wearing a body warmer seemed to no want to be there. Waited ages for food, empty plates sat on table whilst she stood behind the counter staring into space. My mixed grill was tasteless, lukewarm and the meat was cheap. Rice was cold. I am really struggling to find a positive. To add to the atmosphere, is was so cold in there. My feet were frozen. I am not a serial complainer but oh boy, this place is terrible. It's a shame as we wanted it to be a pleasant experience and we just got home, cold and feeling ripped off. Should have gone to the White Hart in Roydon. Service with a smile and hot food.

Spotlessly clean but felt a bit like a cafe. Nice touch to have crudities and olives on arrival, lime in our glasses of water and Turkish delight with the bill. The meat eaters meal was ok . Alas the actual vegetarian meal was unsatisfactory. Tasteless Baba ganoush , though delicious bread. Vegetarian moussaka terrible. Totally bland. It was an assembly job of lentils,loads of chopped tinned tomatoes, tasteless slab of cream coloured floury stodge on top - not surprised it was covered in more tinned tomatoes to disguise it. Expect it was supposed to be cheesy sauce as you would expect on moussaka?? Tiny bits of aubergine - no slices which again would be expected normally- Should be a major constituent of the dish. No flavour. Cheap and nasty. No cooking skills employed whatsoever. The accompanying salad was iceberg, red onion and bits of tasteless cheap tomato- considering tomatoes this time of year are plentiful and should be delicious . Overpriced and poor quality.

Visited on a Saturday night and the restaurant was fairly busy. The welcome, the service and the food were all excellent. Food and drinks reasonably priced and you get good sized portions of well cooked food, obviously prepared by the chef and not brought in ready made like the chain restaurants. Overall, a very enjoyable experience and we will be back again soon.

Very disappointing. I had the chicken shish it was dry and tasteless, the side salad was swimming in vinegar, rice pretty boring. Husbands lamb dish was chewy with lots of gristle. I was looking forward to the baklava but it was an inch of pastry with green nuts. We had gone there because of the good reviews . Overall pricey for a bland tasteless meal.

We ate here for dinner this weekend. Staff were very accommodating, especially when we arrived late for our booking. The food was delicious, just way to much for us to manage! We eneded up taking a lot away with us, which was dealt with easily by the staff. They also kindly gave us a scoop of ice cream with the birthday cake we brought with us to celebrate a birthday. The only problem I would say is parking in the car park was a little difficult, it was quite small and tight to get in and the restaurant is on a busy road.

Beautiful food. Freshly prepared and charming service. We enjoyed every single morsel of the meal and it was just like being in Turkey. Will seek out this jewel again.

Visited with family recently for an evening meal for four people two children. The service on each of the occasions we have visited this establishment is something that all business's should strive to achieve. The food is amazing, we had a wide range of dishes starters mains and desserts, all delicious. We had bottles of wine that were both good and not outrageously priced. The only surprise to us is that this restaurant is not permanently busy.

The food, service and ambience in this little restaurant is excellent. I can recommend all the delicious Turkish and western dishes that I have tried! The prices are very reasonable.

We visited here on Sat 11th March to celebrate our Wedding anniversary. What a lovely place. Good service and food. Hubby had Lamb Kofta to start followed by Chicken Shish, rice and salad. I had Turkish Sausage followed by Lamb Shish. Both was lovely. Only 1 problem 2 skewers was too much, but we struggled on as was so nice. 🙂 We were even tempted to have dessert Rice pudding. Although served cold was very tasty. If we're ever in the area again we will be back.

Turkuaz is a family run Turkish restaurant serving lovely tasty food in an airy and spotlessly clean environment. The staff are friendly and helpful and Turkuaz is very family friendly happy to cater for younger children. Prices are reasonable with a large choice of hot and cold starters available. There is a good selection of starters and main courses to suit vegetarians. Currently opening on a Sunday evening the restaurant is a great place to eat at the end of the weekend.

Lovely little restaurant with welcoming staff and complementary olives, carrots,celery and dip was a nice touch. We so enjoyed the food that we visited twice in the week,but couldn`t get past the lamb sish which was brilliant. Would definitely try another Turkish Restaurant and then again we maybe just landed on a good one first time.

Had a wonderful meal here, while cycling around the ‘Suffolk lost lanes’. The service was exemplary and the food really tasty. The moussaka was particularly amazing. I just wish we lived nearer, I could see that it would become our “go to restaurant”. Really clean and busy even though it was early Sunday evening

A lovely welcome and olives carrots celery with garlic yoghurt dip brought to table complimentary. Lovely warm home made bread and fresh dishes flavoured well and you can tell it is cooked fresh. Not long waiting times. Great service. Very clean. Chilli sauce was a must!!!!

Visited here for the first time for my husbands birthday with friends and really enjoyed it. Fairly small restaurant but very cosy, staff were lovely and welcoming and looked after us well. Food was plentiful and tasty, good quality ingredients. Not the cheapest meal out but this was definitely reflected in the quality of meats and fish and the quantity of food on offer. Definitely recommend a visit and we will go back.

Just popped in on the off chance as spending a couple of days in Diss with my husband. This restaurant is a hidden gem. Great atmosphere, friendly attentive staff and the food not only looked good but tasted amazing. I would recommend this restaurant to all my friends and family should they ever be In the area.

The outside doesn’t draw you in but don’t be fooled; my wife and I loved everything about this restaurant. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. Great value too. Will definitely return if we’re back in the area.

Great Meze !! We had takeaway for two, lovely food hot and cold, so much it fed me for lunch next day ! Will go to eat when restaurants can open again.

Turkuaz are offering takeaways during lockdown. Not to be missed! Delicious food, cooked while you wait, and 20 mins later we are home on the sofa, tucking in to a delicious spread. Great value for money too. Can't recommend Turkuaz too highly! Get down there!

mere for 2 was our choice to have a selection of different things. Its clearly a popular choice as all the other 4 occupied tables seemed to be having the same. Works for the restaurant as well so a win win. Couldn't fault any aspect....

I come here once every couple of years with friends but, every time I visit, I always wonder why I don't come more often! Good, home-cooked, authentic food and the most attentive (yet non-intrusive) service I've received anywhere in Norfolk!!I will definitely be back sooner next time!

I have passed this little restaurant so many times while shopping in Diss. From the outside it looks very understated and so you may hesitate but don’t! It is a little gem of a Turkish restaurant where you can get excellent food at a very reasonable price and be served by exceptionally polite staff. We enjoyed a three course meal with drinks and everything was just perfect. Complimentary olives and dip placed on the table and also homemade bread and Turkish Delight. The owner clearly knows her regular diners. You will probably need to book if you want to go on a Friday or Saturday night.

Warm greeting, politeness and kind consideration, I have not been to a restaurant in Norfolk where I have found such a high standard of professionalism. Gem, the lady owner, is a model for anyone in the restaurant and catering business to take note of. Courteous, gracious and attentive, she has the Turkish gift for hospitality that makes one feel immediately at home. The food is traditional Turkish, though there are dishes from other cuisines also available, all are delicious. The chicken kebabs are cooked to perfection and the mezes are also a favourite of mine, they just keep coming, and so shall I!

With this cuisine you cannot fail to enjoy anything on the menu - all wonderful. The friendly service and attention is always the best, and we keep going back and it is still the best turkish food and great value.

Our family just loves this traditional Turkish restaurant and we’ve enjoyed another delicious meal this evening. The food is always delicious with firm favourites like Calamari, lamb shish and baklava. Highly recommended

We had two excellent meals in this restaurant while we were staying in Norfolk on holiday. The food was well cook and very fresh, mixed grill and sea bass were cooked to perfection and the prawns with shells on were delicious, the second night the prawns were presented shells off and were perhaps slightly over cooked but still very nice. If we are ever back in the area again we will definitely go back, the food here was probably the best we had in any restaurant during our holiday.

My husband and I had a table here for 7.30pm on Good Friday. Was a little quieter than I thought but nice restaurant decor and waitress was very nice. Food was delicious and reasonable at £68 for 3 courses , s beer and a bottle of wine. Would of been nice to have some Turkish music in the background rather than Cliff Richard

The food and service is excellent, the atmosphere is where east meets west, a mingling of styles that accentuates the best of both. The staff and owner are exemplars in courtesy and care, making your visit a memory you will recall with relish.

The food is always so good here and you will not find better service when it comes to turkish dining out....the cocktails are great value, and always served with a smile. Th atmoshpere is always relaxed and you are made to feel at home straight away. It is easy to recommned this.

Came here on a Sunday evening, we were a party of 6. The food/ drink order took a little while to be taken, however, arrived in good time. We also got complimentary bread & olives before our starters came out which was tasty. The food was delightful and I would recommend the falafal and hummus starter, along with the moussaka main! very tasty and would visit again!

Heard this was a real Turkish restaurant and it’s true. The food was excellent well prepared and the taste was brilliant. Arrived at the table hot and very timely. Try the home made chilli hot but good. We had 5 different starters and 5 different mains all plates were cleaned and all enjoyed. The service was spot on and very friendly . Would we come back that’s a YES.

Met a friend in Diss and eventually found the Turkish restaurant.. it was empty when we arrived but the staff soon made us feel welcome... we were given olives and a dip but we ordered just starters and salad. Squid,

Super friendly, great food and good portions. I had the lamb shank and it was delicious and huge! It was my sister birthday and they made a big fuss of her with music. She was embarrassed but it was great!!

Went with family of all ages and we were well catered for. food was print and service exact, good value for money and the food was fantastic, well worth a visit and will definitely be visiting again.

I would willingly eat here every week if I could. It is wonderful. Nice and personal with fantastic service. Nothing is too much trouble. Food is delicious. Meze, 8 cold starters that come out in little dishes, 8 hot starters followed by a mixed grill, and the chicken on that is amazing. Bowl of salad too, followed by plate of fresh fruit all presented prettily and tea or coffee..... yum yum.... wine is nice too, try buzbag. We will be back and hopefully not too long to wait this time. Thank you to the young man and the lovely lady for their service once again. love this place.

You just cannot beat the lamb shank at this time of year. Its warm and cuddly especially washed down with the excellent wines on offer. As a start, what goes really well taste wise is the chicken wings, wow, delish! You may want to add a cocktail or two as well since these are great value and will warm you toes before going back out into the cold and wet January air. We always keep coming back here - excellent value, fantastic staff who cannot do enough for you, and with food tasting sooo good, you want to try this venue. A winter Warmer Indeed.

my husband and I visited this restaurant last week, we have been several times before. This restaurant and its staff continue to amaze us, the food is freshly cooked to a very high standard and they have a good drinks menu that includes our favourite Turkish beer. There is always such a lovely atmosphere and you are always made welcome, we enjoyed it so much we are returning this week. We would highly recommend this restaurant.

We, 6 adults, had a small family celebration meal and we all thought it was super. The food was very good and the staff and service were excellent. They were very kind when 2 extra guests arrived late to join us for coffee. We will definitely come again.

A fantastic restaurant where you can mix up the menu a little with a great cocktail. Not just whatever is on the menu but ask for a mix up of what you like.

Good food served by really nice staff, small but very good atmoshere, parking outside or close by at the rear.

We were visiting the area over Bank Holiday so booked well in advance to ensure we got a table.

Excellent quality food , good size portions ,all food ordered came out hot. Pleasant atmosphere , polite attentive staff.

This place is a little gem. We've been eating here for years and it's never let us down.

We had a reasonable meal, homemade bread was nice.

We have always loved this restaurant but on our recent visit we were disappointed. It started ok with the starters (but not as good as before) some of the main courses were disappointing. We were not informed that the rice came with chickpeas mixed together so some of us couldn't eat it, the chicken a la creme was not like it used to be not very nice. When I main course plates were removed together with our glasses, we were not asked if we would like any more to drink. We were also not offered anything else (Desserts or coffee) so after waiting for over 30 mins we paid the bill and left. Not sure that we will go back again. I did email the restaurant but am unhappy that they haven't bothered to respond.

Another great meal at Turkuaz, the staff are so friendly and the food is always top class, the fish dishes are my personal favourite as well as the Sutlac which is a traditional dessert

OMG another lovely night, great food, and wonderful service. We just get enough of it. We have the Set Meze so you can get to try little bit of everything. Last night our friends had the Fish Meze which they were also very pleased with. All the food is scrumptious and the service is excellent and unobtrusive. Excellent restaurant. Makes us feel as if we are on holiday. If you have been thinking about booking up, don't wonder any more, just do it..... you'll love it.

I can't say enough good words about this lovely Turkish restaurant. It's is amazing especially the Set Meze where you get to try lots and lots of their dishes. Good food, healthy too. Staff very attentive and only the two of them. They do so well. Everything about it is very relaxing. So glad it's open again..... If you have been thinking about going, just do it...life's too short to miss it.

This is by far the best place to eat in Diss and is a very pleasant surprise I'd recommend you to try it, everyone I've introduced to it has been extremely happy and ended going back! There's a wide range of choice on the menu, and not a kebab in sight!!

I am sure that some of the dishes on the menu are good; the staters were tasty and there is a decent choice, I just didn't strike it lucky in my choice. To charge £17 and then serve oven chips with salmon and a very ordinary iceberg lettuce and white onion salad is a bit much.

Following the reopening of this restaurant we decided to try it again as we had experienced great food and excellent service in the past, we were far from disappointed, we had and extremely well cooked and presented meal and the service could not be faulted, the ambiance of the restaurant complemented the exceptional service we received.

Second visit to this fabulous restaurant, food was amazing, service from Jem superb, had hot and cold starters, mains, wine, coffee, liqueurs and bread & Olives.

We were really disappointed when the restaurant closed, we used it every time we were in Diss. We visited this weekend, the first time since it re-opened. The menu is just as good with lots of vegetarian options. Recommendations include the falafel, kismir, and the veggie moussaka. The baklava is the pick of the desserts.

Popped in here for a quick midweek dinner. First time back since reopening. Food still very good though I personally felt the atmosphere was a little different and complimentary fruit has stopped which is understandable.

Glad it's open again! It's a good place to eat and seems to be one of the few places in Diss that can handle groups of about 6-10!

We called in on Saturday evening to see availability, and we were lucky to be shown to a table. This was our first visit, the atmosphere, staff and ambience of the restaurant was lovely. We had the mezze of cold starters which was delicious and beautifully presented. For mains I had the Moussaka and my partner the Mixed Grill. Both were well cooked and generous portions. We were not rushed at any stage.

Just had a cracking meal at Turkuaz in Diss. Opted for the Meze as we couldn't agree on what to choose and we weren't disappointed. Starter tasted 'just made' with authentic fresh flavours and the main fish was tasty and filling. Fruits and coffees at the end were nice. Very relaxed atmosphere. Certainly to be recommended.

So glad this restaurant is open once more. We have had a lovely meal. Menu is the same as it was before it closed. Have booked to go back again already. The Meze is wonderful and gives you a chance to try lots of the dishes. Olives and Cakic served at the start, and The baklava is lovely served with ice cream, and the little Turkish delight given to you at the end is nice too.

Lunch with girls, just started to open at lunchtime and have a good lunchtime menu, which is smaller than the full menu. Good selection of wines, beers etc as well as soft drinks. Nice starter selection and you could have a good meal as a self constructed meze from the selection ( the pancakes are really nice). The food was all cooked fresh, very well presented and really tasty. Nice size portions and a real choice of authentic Turkish dishes.

Four of us enjoyed a lovely meal here, last Sunday evening. We were well looked after by Cem, who was happy to advise on wines, menu etc. Lovely restaurant with authentic Turkish furnishings and decoration. Food was lovely, cooked to perfection. A great asset to our small town of Diss. Lunches are also served. Really nice evening.

Visited this restaurant last weekend and was very impressed with the service and staff.Food - I have recently turned vegetarian and was worried about the options on the menu, but there were a few dishes to choose from. I had the vegetarian Moussaka which was very delicious and would highly recommend this choice.Staff - The service was brilliant I found the staff very professional and friendly. Two bottles of red and one white.I'd say reasonably priced, that is not cheap, but not overly expensive.Staff friendly and attentive without being overly so.All in all a great restaurant and we'll definitely return.
