Visited the cafe for the first time today despite having walked passed it on several occasions… what a little gem! Had a chai latte, toasted kimchi and cheese toastie, salmon open sandwich and cheesecake. They were fresh and tasty! The service was great and we were even given treats for our little dog. I mentioned it was the first time I’ve visited and they offered me a try of their signature cinnamon buns. I will certainly be back. It’s so important to support these independent businesses.

Lovely freshly made food and cosy atmosphere

Rock hard cinnamon bun, super stale and not worth 3.90£. The granola as well was almost 7 quid for a small cup!! Not worth it at all and super disappointing. Service was non existent and when asked if any dishes could be made more simply for a baby got told no and that everything was already made and ready to go. Would never ever come back!! Let's not talk about hygiene. Filthy tables (look at the picture of my baby wipes!) And gross stains all over floors and walls

Little gem, under the Arches at Forest Gate!

The cinnamon toast is dry to be honest not quite like brioche but not quite regular toast. There’s a cinnamon flavour but it’s not strong. Decent with the butter spread on top but wouldn’t come back for it. Coffee seems to taste okay but my latte was not frothy as you’d expect. Servers were smiley and nice given the busyness of the place. Wouldn’t recommend if you’re nervous around dogs there were at least 4-5 when I was sat in.

Lorna and the team do an incredible job in this little hidden away gem under a train arch between car garages. The service is always warm and welcoming - they effortlessly remember your name and your order (no matter how obscure your coffee preferences are for different milks, specific drinks containers, lid or no lid?) The cinnamon buns are the main reason for a visit - you can smell them a mile off and are baked fresh in house every day. Other items on the menu (which changes to keep things exciting!) are always a hit. I dream of their granola and their salmon on toast. Some indoor seating for roughly 20-24 people and also covered outdoor seating on picnic benches for those sunny days. The only possible downside is the fact the car garages are next door making it a little loud, busy and you need to watch out for reversing cars as soon as you step out the front door. Make sure bikes and prams are tucked right in! However it is a firm favourite in our household and a must visit after school drop off and pick up.

Such a welcoming café with warm & friendly staff, it's very child friendly too. Exceptional flat white (the best coffee in Forest Gate) and fantastic food across the board. My partner had the butter beans on sourdough and I had a delicious beef stew with pearl barley. Even the butter was amazing. I bought a slice of Orange polenta cake to take home, which was also excellent. Well worth making the journey here for lunch/brunch or even just a coffee.

The food and the coffee here are lovely, and I especially love the cinnamon buns. However, I decided that the last time I visited would be my last as the staff here is persistently rude.

This must be the best coffee place around the area. I’ve visited lots of times and was never disappointed. The coffees are good and so are the cakes. Delicious! The staff is very friendly too, you just want to come back. The only slight drawback in my eyes is the mechanics next door (the smell of paint is not pleasant while you’re enjoying your coffee outside!). Everything else is 5 ⭐️

Lovely drinks just now, I was not allowed to enter shop without a mask, and had to pay by contactless. Why can’t all shops be so responsible in the present situation. Apologies for being a complete dipstick, trying to get my phone to work with steamed up glasses etc etc, then trying to get 3 cups a cake, a phone all out of the cafe in one go.

This place is a hidden gem. I have come to enjoy my post Pilates coffee and scrumptious cinnamon bun every Sunday! The service is friendly and welcoming; there is always a variety of cakes and bakes to choose from and they make a great coffee from Climpson & Sons.

The Norwegian breakfasts are tasty and quite unusual (eg brown cheese). Bread is supplied daily by E5 Bakehouse, simply the best.

Quaint local cafe, with a Scandinavian/Norwegian feel. Nice range of fresh artisan cakes , in-house made pastries and snacks. Always pop in for a coffee fix , after a boxing session at MBox down the road! All the staff are chilled and always have time for a smile!!

Clearly works for the mums-and-babies who form 80-90% of the customer base. As a single brown man trying to get some work done on a laptop on a tuesday morning with a cup of coffee this wouldn't be my scene.. Somewhat difficult to find but the arches taken as a whole have an interesting set of businesses running in them so worth a look.

A lovely friendly café with great coffee and fresh cinnamon buns. There are clearly many regular customers, and it’s a big plus to me that dogs are welcome. Fun retro styling, and quality cards and other items from Venner (Francis Rd E10) available. Must admit I found it pretty hard to find as I started off looking in the arches immediately adjacent to Wanstead Park overground station. Then I zoomed in my map and found my way to Avenue Rd!

Lovely atmosphere, genuinely well baked pastries and cakes, a good choice of teas. Families with babies and children were being welcomed, as was my party of 60 and 70 yr olds.

A unique Norwegian concept coffee shop. Good coffee and cake. They also provide hot food. A good use of space "under the arches" in Forest Gate. A hip addition in the provision of food and drink in the local area.

The cafe was busy with families, couples and people on their own, mixed age groups and ethnicities and a nice, easy going vibe.I had a smoked salmon open sandwich, with whole grain mustard and picked cucumber. It was very fresh tasting and delicious. My partner has Sausage Waffle, which he described as lovely.Being a cafe in a railway arch, it’s a bit unlikely looking, but worth the effort.Very pleasant friendly staff team, too.

Is this the same place I've been to? I've now been 3or 4 times all in an attempt to give it the benefit of a doubt. Everytime I've gone their cinnamon buns Have been rock hard, burnt with barely any cinnamon. They last time i went my friend ordered a lunch which ended up being 5 pieces of tender stem broccoli with bbq sauce for £6!! We asked if they would be making anymore buns as it was international bun day and they had run out (at 12 pm). The staff were rude and said they couldn't keep buns in stock yet 20 minutes later they brought out fresh cinnamon buns and pistachio ones as well! If you're craving cinnamon or cardamom buns done right please save yourself the hassle and go to fabrique instead!!

Had the most amazing salmon and lemon cream waffle. I had to restrain myself from ordering another. Deeply scrumptious.

We absolutely love this little place since it opened its doors. Cinnamon buns are our fave but every now and then we select other cakes and food. Ladies that work there are very kind, helpful and always smiling. Very authentic and lovely place in Forest Gate.

A great addition to Forest Gate. The menu is just the right size and we’ve particularly enjoyed the waffles with sausage and sweet mustard. Lovely calm atmosphere and friendly staff. The range of gifts and cards from Venner (Francis Road) has also been really useful!

Cute neighbourhood Nordic-style café with tasty breakfast options. Hip but not pretentious, and very friendly service. Waffles were excellent (especially the smoked salmon one), but it's a bit of a shame they only seem to have one waffle iron, so they come out one-by-one.

I come here 3 days a week, every week. The owners who are always there are lovely and chatty and easy to make friends with. The coffee is fantastic, the variety of baked goods - nearly all genuinely baked by Hedvig - is astounding. Suggest you try the Brunost and Raspberry Jam waffle if you find yourself here.Famous locally for their baked-fresh-every-morning Cinnamon Buns and also their Marmite Buns.

After reading good reviews of the Tromso Cafe, we visited for lunch today. Tucked away down a side street, it isn't somewhere you will stumble across by accident! Staff were lovely and helpful. Food and service were excellent. Big mugs of tea! Nice, laid back atmosphere. Will visit again!

Simple but fabulous use of the rail arches. I went for brunch with a friend. The food was delicious and the bloody Mary just yum! Everywhere felt clean but not uptight. Staff were so easy going. Delivered a professional, honest, warm, relaxed and friendly service. I felt so comfortable and enjoyed every morsel I consumed. I had a vegetarian breakfast and my friend chose vegan. We ordered some chorizo on the side. Perfectly poached eggs, amazing artichoke and a variety of wild mushrooms on soda bread with a generous green salad. The chorizo just set my tastebuds dancing. Looking forward to eating there again and if I don't turn into a pumpkin first I may check out an evening with their DJs.

Lovely Scandi food and fabulous waiting staff. Hot cooked food is Brill, and don't forget to try the toasties and open sandwiches. Fizzies are good fun too. If coffee is your thing that's worth a cup or too. The cinnamon buns are to die for! Make a trip to the Arches!

Great little family friendly cafe/restaurant in one of Forest Gate's railway arches. As the name suggests, Tromso serves Scandinavian style food b& it's very good - as is the coffee (especially the filter coffee, you really should try it). The only (slight) negative is the location, as you have to walk past a few garages in the adjacent arches to get here.
