What lovely Italian restaurant . Went for lunch there and was amazed by the service and freshness of the food. Enjoyed all the options we ordered and only cost £14 for a set lunch. Amazing!

Three of us for lunch mid -week. The menu was extensive and appeared to offer good value at £15 for a two courses, so far so good! All downhill from here. The dining room had no atmosphere and had an unattractive smell about it probably from the semi-open kitchen, the food was at best indifferent. Quite the worst calamari I have encountered, greasy carbonara and filet of pork swimming in "gravy" Clearly it works for some as the business is well established and a Ponty institution , then again the choice in the town is very limited

We had a party of 13 and had the Lunch Menu( Early Diner) Wow!! Fantastic value!! The food was excellent, piping hot and good portion sizes. Mixture of pasta, steak and salmon dishes in the party and everybody enjoyed their meals. The staff were friendly and very attentive. Took along a birthday cake which the staff were more than happy to bring out and had the whole restaurant sing Happy Birthday! Highly recommend and will be back to try the Bottomless Prosseco offer.

Average at best. Really underwhelming, wouldn’t return. I’ve been to another of the restaurants in this group and it’s been cracking , but this was so dumbed down. Lack of quality in product and presentation. Shame, real shame.

Our party of 13 were well looked after by the Trattoria staff, who went out of their way to ensure a memorable evening for our birthday girl. The food was amazing - a variety of Starters thoroughly enjoyed before the delicious main courses, all of which were of high quality and beautifully presented. The service was swift, the staff polite and courteous, and were happy to organise the birthday cake and music at the end of the meal. We would all recommend Trattoria Pontypridd for excellent food and an enjoyable occasion.

Booked in advance table for a small pre-Christmas party with friends. Asked us for a pre order which we emailed over and they emailed back that it was received. Table in the window at the front of the restaurant as there were 8 of us dining. Pre-ordered drinks came pretty much as soon as we sat down and the starters not long after. Super fast service. Mains all came out pretty much together along with side orders. Everyone in the party was very impressed with the food. All staff were extremely friendly, attentive and we were served by at least 5 different team members who all kept an eye on us. Can’t recommend enough! Thank you Trattoria 🎄

Visited for lunch with friends yesterday, we used this restaurant frequently before covid and it was excellent, but what a disappointment, everyone said how tasteless their meal was , port was in a sauce with no flavour, the sauce with the chicken was thin and was like the juice from a tin of tomatoes, the beef that we thought would be a stew, was just like a spaghetti bolognaise. But with 2 different pastas, as if they were using bits up The service was good and the food was hot, that’s the only good thing I can say, we ended up going to Alfred’s for drinks and coffee after as we couldn’t wait to leave We will never visit again I would give a zero if I could

We visited this restaurant yesterday early evening. There was alot of customers standing around who had obviously eaten and due to leave. We were shown to a Table. Then someone plonked a bottle of warm water on the table then we were ignored. It was only the fact that I glared at a waitress on the other side of server that she got someone to take our order. Food was average and my partner had salmon..no way was it fresh. Gordon Ramsey would have had a field day! Give this a miss in future. Been to a few Italian restaurants and this has to be the worst. Unless you don't have taste buds..would NOT recommend!

Love this restaurant when we visit wales! Although not on the menu I always order Penne arrabbatia which is amazing !! The garlic bread is lush as is the extensive gin menu so a real winner for me. My partner had the lasagne which is said was the best ever. Will be back next time for sure

Our party of 6 had plenty to drink (including a number of gins & a bottle of wine), starters, mains, sides & desserts for just under £280. We weren't rushed but service was sufficiently attentive, we were last to leave from our 8pm booking but didn't feel obliged to do so at all. The food was superb again & the menu improved since a visit a while back. Warm, comfortable & always very friendly/helpful staff. We will definitely return based on ths experience. Thank you.

Our tabke of 12 was ready for us and our pre ordered starters came out after the attentive staff had taken our drinks orders and supplied. I had chosen prawn cocktail which was lovely. We didnt have to wait very long before our main meals were served, what impressed me was how quickly we were all served so no ones food was getting cold. I had chosen lasagne which had a delicious rich tomato sauce., the portion was generous and very tasty. I didn't think I had room fir pudding, but seeing Italian ice cream I couldn't resist. A lively touch was the waiters came and sang Happy Birthday to our girl. I would definately visit this authentic Italian Restaurant again and highly recommend.

Possibly the worst experience I’ve ever had in a restaurant that I have eaten at regularly! I happened to mention the fat on the t bone to the waiter only to be verbally abused by the owner (chef) from the kitchen to the point I had to leave the food and leave the restaurant!! Absolutely furious!!

WIfe and I had a Christmas meal here in Dec 2019, the room was packed out including a damn noisy group on the next table, anyway, we had starters, main course and after together with wine and Peroni (only draft they sell), and though it was moderately expensive it was Christmas after all, we both said the food was excellent, and we would certainly eat here again, in fact we had last years Christmas meal here as well, and that was excellent also. Top marks.

Having been and enjoyed Trattoria many times previous, I have always found the food and service of good standard however I was disappointed with the food served last night.The Cozze Mussel starter was nice enough but the meatball spaghetti was bland and dry. My friend ordered the Monkfish special and took it back after it seemed overcooked. This was happily replaced but the result was not much better. Nothing was said after, we made the assumption that the fish was not fresh, possibly frozen and just left it. Maybe it was the post Christmas blues because the place was very quiet, which was unusual for a Friday night and therefore the atmosphere was not the best which added to a dissapointing meal for the money spent. On a positive, the staff were attentive and did their best on, what was, a quiet night.

I was looking forward to meal out with friends for so long, booked mid November with deposits paid at the end of the month and pre-order given. Meal booked for 8pm but no starters arrived until after 8.30.Food good but waitress made rude hand gestures for us to pass her our empty plates.Felt rushed all night but reassured by waiter that not closing until 11pm.By 10.15pm we were being rushed along, despite ordering more drinks. Several looks given by the huddle of staff who evidently wanted us to leave. Very pressured to leave, despite spending over £200. Will never return and never recommend.Very rude staff.

No, not roman numerals but a very disappointing menu change. No osobucco, no t-bone, no stroganoff. Fillet was an expensive, though tasty almost £24 & a small steak at that, maybe 8oz's. It was tasty. Pasta dish had very little chicken/musfrooms for almost £12. Didn't help to be sat next to a large, noisy of swearing party goers either. The chips were very nice. It was however explained to us that osobucco could be cooked if notice was given a week earlier. We've been eating here for some years quite regularly to date but it'll not be as regular with that menu i'm sad to say.

I don't think there's a review I could give that would do justice to this restaurant. Being so small and intimate with a clean, fresh and modern decor, made this a lovely experience.We ordered from the set two courses for £11.95 menu (available until 6pm that day). We ordered the prawn cocktail and Parma ham wrapped goats cheese for starters. Both arrived within 5 minutes. I had the prawn cocktail which was very liberal on the prawns and was beautifully presented. The goats cheese was apparently amazing too. (My girlfriend was unusually selfish, so I can only assume it was AMAZING).Once we had finished our starters, the ever attentive and friendly staff cleared away our plates and almost immediately brought the mains.We'd both ordered pasta dishes; a creamy chicken penne and a tomato tagliatelle.My girlfriend however, to her embarrassment, had a moment of complacency in ordering her food by not mentioning she's intolerant to any dairy from cows. (Goats and buffalo is okay). So when the food arrived and the sauce was creamier than she'd expected, we asked the server who confirmed there was cream in the sauce. Immediately, with no judgement, she brought over the menu and asked if there was another dish she'd like to order, or if she'd like the chef to make the same dish without any dairy. My girlfriend chose the same dish without the cream.No more than 5 minutes later, the replacement meal arrived. It showed not only were the staff amazing and the food delicious, but how fresh and made to order the food is that they could replicate the dish immediately without certain ingredients.By the time my girlfriend was halfway through her main course, her stomach was beginning to hurt from the dairy, so the waiter offered to box up the leftovers, which she accepted without a moment's hesitation.In the end, two delicious two course meals and two pints of Peroni came to £38. They didn't even consider adding any charge for the wasted first main, even though it was to a degree our fault. I hope this restaurant is booked up every night, because it absolutely deserves to be, what a lovely experience.Grazie mille!

Lovely atmosphere as we arrived, the place nearly full, seated by a lovely waitress, unfortunately didnt catch her name, came to take our drinks order and found they had a very extensive gin drinks menu, I was impressed for a small local business. There was no rush to give our food order and when we did we didnt have wait too long for our mains to arrive, everyone enjoyed, we had goats cheese palma ham (cooked beautiful) and prawn cocktail, oils and pepper offered, nice to see 2 servers dealing with us as we where only a party of 4, next came the mains, salmon tagliatelle, canalonni, spaghetti carbonara, we all cleared our plates, very tasty and filling. Best pasta I'd had in a while, 2 had dessert, cheesecake and tiramisu, clean plates again, we where not disappointed, we enjoyed our evening and will definitely be back.

Sent a voucher for a complementary bottle of wine for my wife's birthday only to be told it can only be used if the meals are ordered from the alakart menu.

This is a "go to" place for friends and family. We have never been disappointed with the meals or service - staff are very helpful and polite. I have to have a gluten free menu and the chef always advises what I can eat from the menu. Pasta is not GF but I have asked before visiting and have taken my own there with no problem. Definitely recommend.

We have visited here twice for family meals in the past few months and found the food to be of excellent quality! Staff are very helpful too and the atmosphere is good. Tables are a little close for any sort of privacy so not ideal if you are looking for a place for a romantic table for two - other than that I would highly recommend it!

Have visited many times over the years and almost always had a good meal. Came with my parents and young family the Saturday before Mother’s Day and chose from the early bird menu, which is excellent value for money, which includes a glass of wine. We all had lovely food & plenty of it. Excellent selection for the children, not just the usual of bolognese or chicken dippers etc. They could order from the same menu as the adults with a smaller portions. My 7& 4 year olds thoroughly enjoyed their food, eating every mouthful, my son remembers his lasagne 5 weeks on.

My husband and I decided to treat ourselves to a meal here, and chose the 'Early Bird' menu. We arrived at 6pm, sat down and were instantly harassed for drinks orders. The whole experience was rushed. Fast food! My starter was served with a 'side salad' which had seen happier days. Must have been a month old, pate was mediocre and the toasted bread was cold. Ok, so for the main course. lasagne. Looked delicious, warm and edible. But...…..within 15 minutes of eating it I had to rush to the toilet whilst still in the restaurant, had to leave very quickly, even leaving my glass of wine. Unheard of for me. The staff are lovely, but they don't make up for the poor quality of food we received. Have eaten here several times, this was by far the worse experience. And without sounding sad, £40 for a 40 minute sitting

Hi all. Had food at trattoria at pontypridd for son's birthday ..All meals were very nice and hot service was extremely good ..They took the birthday cake off us on entry and when the time was right presented it with lite candles and birthday music ..great touch...all in all very pleased with the food ..staff...service ..can't fault it at all....thanks

We were 2 couples having a catch up and dinner. We had thankfully previously made a reservation and whilst there could see a party of 4 having to leave as they had not booked and all tables were full so booking is advisable.

Visited this restaurant for Mother's Day with the family including small granddaughter.We all had different meals ,starters and deserts yet they all arrived on time and nice and hot.The meals were excellent and very tasty.The size of the meals were good with plenty on the plate.The restaurant was full and we did book so for people who are going to visit ,book! .Otherwise you may not get in.We visited on a Saturday afternoon great afternoon.Children welcome,plenty of high chairs.My meal

I've been here twice - once at Xmas where there was a set menu - very nice, and once for lunch on a normal day.

Recently visited here with friends, service very good, staff very welcoming. Food was very tasty, however, one of our party who had ordered penne arabiatta( excuse spelling) had almost finished her meal when she found a black elastic band in her meal. We informed staff and they did apologise and offered to change the meal but as she had almost finished she declined. I feel that a complimentary drink or some sort of discount should have been offered but nothing was forthcoming. As good as the service and some of the food was, we won’t be returning in the near future .

A lovely little place. Consistently great service and excellent value for money. Their set menu, offered at lunch times and early evening, offers plenty of variety. The atmosphere is warm and the food, though lacking fancy presentation, is plentiful and packed with flavour ensuring customers return again and again. I particularly like the fact that they use fresh rather than dried herbs. Very tasty. The staff are always attentive and friendly. It’s a little winner of a place.

First time coming here we came as a couple and had food of the main menu, and the food was lovely and the staff were great, real friendly and looked after you. The next weekend we returned with a group of 10 and all had food of the early bird menu, have to say it was great value and everyone enjoyed the meal. Staff were as before, friendly and helpful. Definitely returning back in the near future.

We have become regular diners here because it's convenient but more importantly it has never failed to deliver excellent food & service. I had beef strganoff last evening, it was delicious. 2 others in our party had t bone steaks, i could clearly see the definition on the plates of 1 rare & 1 medium. It's comfortable, clean & unhurried though staff always on hand & always polite/helpful. It's not the cheapest place to eat. Our 6 meals with starters & desserts, 3 bottles of wine, 6 other drinks came in at just over £300 but it is worth the money for sure. My advice to anyone who hasn't visited to eat is please do, i'm sure you'll not be disappointed.

My wife and I have been customers at the Pontypridd branch of Trattoria for about ten years.A review of this excellent restaurant is long overdue.Went there on a Friday lunchtime and usual it was a lovely experience. We have noticed in recent months that there has been a change in the front of house team.The old team were always efficient and cordial but we find all the new staff even more friendly and welcoming which has enhanced our experience even further.The standard of service is first rate.As soon as we settle into our seats a member of staff promptly comes to take our drinks order.We both ordered the King Prawns which were extremely tasty.My wife and I both had the Chicken Cacciotore which was also very good.The portion of the chicken could have been a little larger but was none the worse for that as it left us room for desert,we both had creme brulee which was of a very good standard.We are always impressed with the choice of Italian wines on offer.We particularly favour the Montepuliciano.For those thinking of going there on a Friday lunchtime I would say that booking in advance may be advisable as it tends to get a little busy.The restaurant is open from 5.30 every week night from Tuesdays.The early bird menu seems to be very popular whenever we go early evening again it would be advisable to book in advance.Without reservation Trattatoria is the best restaurant in Ponty.We cannot wait to return soon

The staff have worked there for ages and are welcoming and know the menu. They'll change bits so if you don't want meat they can put mushrooms or broccoli (They do for the gnocchi). If you do anything while visiting Pontypridd, go in and get the tiramisu! You won't regret it. I'd recommend booking as they are always busy.

Had a great evening at this small restaurant. Staff are welcoming attentive and know the menu well. Food was very good and the house wine quite OK. The chorizo mussels starter was fantastic and huge! Thoroughly recommend.
