Trattoria L'Oliva in Broxtowe

Our favourite place to eat, largely it’s the authenticity and above all no cream in the Carbonara ( a pet hate of mine) just lovecit.

Me and my girlfriend ate there today. We couldn't fault anything about the place. Really nice food and drink

This is a small restaurant with a menu that certainly tempts you. We had prawns and burrata to start, both were delicious. However, we felt let down by the mains, especially for the price. The smoked salmon pasta tasted of salmon, but only contained one piece. The mushroom risotto needed seasoning, and for some of the mushrooms to be cooked more. We had coffees to finish which were excellent. Service was good. There are a couple of vegetarian options for each course. I didn't see anything vegan. The toilets are outside around the back. You have to go across a small yard, which is quite dark and with uneven ground. Then there's a step up to get to the loo. So it's quite cold, and not particularly easy if you have accessibility needs. We also found the restaurant cold, and kept our coats on inside.

Delicious Italian food. Very good atmosphere

Great little place. Called in without a booking and took the last 2 seats in the place. We weren't disappointed. Time to chat between courses, the food was great and a good atmosphere to be had also. It isn't perfect but it has really likeable quirks, and that adds rather than detracts. Staff really friendly too.

Lovely , authentic Italian food. The menu is more limited than some other restaurants because it is a small eatery with less staff, but the food is worth it!

Birthday musings ..these photos taken in Trattoria L'Oliva Beeston Food amazing ! and self explanatory in the photos Although I'll give a heads up - the fruit is sliced pear on warm slightly toasty bread with softened gorgonzola, drizzled honey and walnuts on top, to start.... One of the main courses, 5hr slow cooked lamb in tomato sauce...you have to try ! I will be back for other dishes !! absolutely ! And of course, the books... the photo's on the walls... A story ..... told in the most appetising, atmosphere this side of ...well ... glad this is local !!!

Nice food, starter is better than main! A bit overpriced but everything else is great!

I've delayed writing this for a month while I pondered. A friend had recommended the 'amazing' Lamb Ragu, which my son had and was full of flavour. Maybe I chose the wrong dish - the Seafood Linguine. It was both plain in appearance and taste, and sadly lacking in much seafood. The Walnut and Pear Bruschetta starter was excellent, as was the Tiramisu. The quirky Moka pot Espresso was a nice touch, and the pricing of Gin & Tonic was also a welcome surprise. Overall a nice venue, with pleasant staff. Pricing-wise, a little more than I feel it should have been, and the customer toilet is an out-house (out the entrance, down a side street, around the back of the building)

My first time here and it we absolutely lovely. Really attentive, welcoming service and authentic Italian food in the most cosy setting. Quite a small menu but it was still very hard to pick as all the options sounded amazing. Reasonably priced. Will definitely be back.

Changing this from 4* a year ago, no agenda here just telling it like it was yesterday (17.8.23): my wife's burrata starter was great but my dish had only a trace of the gorgonzola and walnuts listed and both our mains were very bland (gnocchi and lamb ragu); waitress brought me a main I didn't order but I ate it and she gave a 10% discount. Overall v disappointed sadly

Very small family Italian restaurant. Just a few choices on the menu but then you know it is all fresh ingredients apart from the wild boar stew......so tasty and tender.

A wonderful way to celebrate our 37th wedding anniversary. We had a beautifully cooked, delicious meal and desserts, and loved every mouthful. Such a lovely place...felt like we were back in Italy. Thank you Marco.

I was really looking forward to eating here after hearing and reading such positive reviews. Unfortunately it didn't remotely live up to expectations. The wait for starters at 40 minutes was absurd, when they did come they were warm at best. The 'fritto misto' starter had 2 different fish- hardly the 'assortment' listed on the menu. The 'parmigiana di melanzane' starter was in a small ramiken filled with passata and a slice of mozzarella on the top (I would be unsurprised if this was just put in a microwave for 1 minute for how hot/tasteless it was). Eventually the mains arrived and while the lamb ragu itself was tasty, again it was not hot and the pasta overcooked. The 'linguine di mare' was beyond a joke- the pasta was massively overcooked, had no taste and again the 'selection of seafood' was just shrimp and couple of mussels- no clams/squid/crab etc... 2 different fish really stretches the idea of a selection. The cherry tomatoes (rather than plum tomatoes as listed) on the dish were boiled for about 30 seconds and not warm through. The watery sauce was flavourless and adding carrot to a seafood dish is a new one on me too. Overall hugely disappointed. If you like Italian food done 'English style' then yes eat here, otherwise go to Piccolinos in town, at least the Italian chefs there make an effort. Per il cuoco marco, mi dispiace tantissimo di aver avuto quest'esperienza al vostro ristorante, veramente triste. però non tornerò ne consiglierò altri qui vicino a mangiare qui finché qualcosa cambia.

Recently dined here for the third time and the food & service has been superb each time. I love that there are only a few tables and there is no rush to get you in & out to free your table up, meaning you can properly relax and enjoy your food. Will certainly be back before too long!

Had a takeaway for first time after having visited restaurant couple of times pre lockdown. The food last night was superb. Beautifully presented and was as good as the restaurant quality in your own home. I had mozzarella salad followed by beef ragu and husband had seafood starter then ragu. Absolutely beautiful! The tiramisu dessert was also lovely. Well done L'Oliva - cant wait till we can visit the restaurant again but in the meantime we'll be back for takeaway.

During lockdown I have tried their delivery service. The food, as usual, was delicious and it is great that you can choose a delivery time. Would recommend.

We saw this place recommended and decided to give it a go. We are trying hard to eat local and support local businesses during lockdown. We ordered through click and collect on the website.The food was absolutely heavenly. I want to come again and try the venison now. And we both want to come and experience the restaurant itself when lockdown is over.The service was also amazing. The lady kindly included a cannoli for us.Thank you

Surely this is the best Italian Restaurant in Nottingham, I've not been to a better one in the country to be honest. The food is exceptional in both is quality and authenticity, the service is fantastic and the atmosphere and ambience transports you immediately to small Trattorias I have visited during my visits to Italy. Wonderful! Get yourself down here as soon as you can.

Beautiful and authentic Italian small plates in central Beeston. Modest, but perfect in its way. I am looking forward to coming back.

Fabulous food flavours and wine as always.

Popped in a couple of weeks ago just for a main meal and olives as we were both driving. Was so impressed we went back last night. Lovely cosy atmosphere and delightful service from Anna. Food both times was exceptional, I had pork belly on beetroot bulgar wheat both times and my wife had different pasta dishes. Some excellent wines on offer and also some very interesting italian craft beers. We will definetely make this a regular. Best restaurant in Beeston #1, I don't care what some of the other "unfair" imo reviews say.

Delicious food and the mains are reasonably priced. Very cosy inside! The prosciutto and fig bruschetta was amazing. My only reason for not 5 stars is the pistachio tiramisu didn’t really have any pistachio, just a few crumbs on top and pricy for a dessert at £6.75. Overall would visit again. Booking in advance essential as it is small inside.

I love everything about this restaurant. The food is perfectly cooked and beautifully conceived without pretension. The service is efficient but so warm and friendly. The music and lighting sets a romantic but not overly sentimental tone. L’Oliva is what all Italian restaurants should be like! If you have not been there yet then go immediately!

Good food and wine in an Italian inspired environment, had the chicken leg in a Tuscan sauce and my wife the short ribs both are highly recommended with a house white

We had a lovely dinner at L'Oliva; food was delicious, as always! And the service was prompt and friendly. It has a relaxed, authentic atmosphere. It is one of our favourite places to eat!

Cosy little Italian restaurant. The tiramisu was the star of the show, but the rest of the food is tasty too.

Firstly, let me say the food quality was excellent, really delicious. The service was somewhere between relaxed and a little slow, but that's fine with me as I like to take my time over dinner. What I was disappointed with was the portion size for the price - paid ~£15 for a clam spaghetti, which was a pretty small portion of pasta with only 4 clams in it. I've really wanted to go back for the food quality, but haven't been able to make myself because I know the cost will be too much, and I'm likely to leave hungry.

Love this restaurant in normal times, great atmosphere, intimate but also relaxed and friendly. They are currently doing lockdown take-away on FRI/SAT, order by 5.30 and pick up by 8. Tried it tonight and it was delicious, quite pricey for a normal take away but you could feel/taste the quality ingredients and cooking. Can’t wait to go back for a sit down, with a nice bottle to wash it down with, but the take away will keep me going until then (and will hopefully keep them going too!).

What a little gem this place is. Second time the wife and I have come with good friends, who are regulars. Lovely, intimate relaxed atmosphere with a very friendly welcome and service. Quirky decor with a real authentic Italian feel.Small but perfectly balanced menu with pastas and risotto dishes forming the mains with a few specials alongside.The food is fabulous! I had a tuna tartare starter which was out of this world! For mains I went for the beef ragu in fettuccine and the wife spaghetti carbonara (made properly without cream) - I’ve never had better! This was followed by a stunning, creamy Tiramasu.Everything is proudly, lovingly home made and that shines through in the lovely food.Can’t recommend this place enough, you won’t find better in the area! Can’t wait to come back...

Excellent food in a cozy environment.

We booked a table for 4 over the phone for a Saturday night at 8.30 pm and received an email confirmation of the booking. The night before we received a reminder email. At 3pm on the day of our booking we received a text message cancelling. We were offered a 15% discount if we changed our booking to 6pm as they had double booked but would need our table back at 8.25! Very incompetent and quite rude.

Lovely little restaurant. The moment you step inside it feels and smells like you are in Italy. At lunch time they do Italian style Tappas. Which is great for trying different dishes. Highly recommend.

Don`t go cancelled our booking at the last minute on a Saturday night, the food may be good but front of house is terrible

Looked for an Italian diner open on a Saturday lunchtime as i was visiting the area. Booked in to this little Gem and so pleased i did. Not a massive menu but oh the quality, presentation and ambience i cannot speak high enough of. The welcome was warm and service spot on. We will visit again, sooner the better as far as i am concerned. Spread the word

I totally concur with previous reviews. Fantastic, great quality authentic Italian food. Fabulous, cosy, intimate restaurant with a lovely feel. A great lunchtime menu of cicchetti (tapas) and an imaginative evening menu along with a choice of Specials. The food was unbelievably delicious and all washed down with a really nice bottle of wine and served with a lovely smile and great efficiency. A seriously good restaurant and a MUST try.

My partner and I visited the restaurant for dinner and were pleasantly surprised with how lovely it is. It is small and intimate dining so I would always recommend booking in advance, so you wouldn’t be disappointed by not getting a table. The food was lovely and such high quality that I have even recommended it to my Italian friends for a fancy dinner out. The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly, with attentive wait staff. Do understand that you will be getting a lovely high quality meal (plus delicious wine) so you will have to pay fairly for it. I would only save it for special occasions due to the expense but I am certainly looking forward to the next time we go!

This was our third visit, we have never been dissapointed with the food. There is always a small but adequate range of "specials" to supplement the menu. The only problem is deciding what to have.One of the best restaurants in Beeston with a great ambience. Excellent food, decent portion sizes and prices aren't bad either (starter about 7 quid, main was 17, pudding 7) The place is tiny. Like most living rooms are bigger than this place. But that's not a bad thing. The menu is tiny too, but again not bad as they are concentrating on fewer things and doing them brilliantly. Oh and the toilet is outside. Like at your nan's house. Highly recommended.

Visited for the first time yesterday evening after looking on the internet for a local 'authentic' Italian restaurant. We received a warm friendly welcome from the staff. We enjoyed a delicious meal in cosy authentic surroundings. We will definitely return. Thank you to the staff.

Nice atmosphere, very polite and friendly staff. The restaurant does make you forget you're not in southern Italy. The only downside, is the menu sounds much better than the food actually is.

Booked on line upon a recommendation from friends we arrived a few minutes early but that was not a problem. A small intimate restaurant with 8 covers lovely atmosphere great service ( thank you Anna) the menu was small but as they explained both online and in the restaurant its a small establishment and all home made, the food was very good and we will definitely return as my partner said as its close to home this could become a regular

Wow! This place is amazing. The food we had was all brilliant and super tasty- some of the best food we have had in a long time. Really reasonably priced and really friendly staff too. Thank you L'Oliva for a fab evening, we will be back.

Arrived and took 30 minutes before we got any drinks. Service consistently poor throughout the evening. Very noisy atmosphere as echoing walls and very crowded covers. The food was just very ordinary. Prawn starter was just a few prawns in a watery sauce. No bread with it. Mains adequate but all three people had rather dull food. Won't be going there agaiin.

Dined with friends on a weekday evening. Restaurant and food had a really homely feel, nothing swish or fancy just good honest food. I had gnocchi which was tasty and fresh, followed by tiramisu which was light and very good.

Intimate and atmospheric restaurant. The food was absolutely beautiful. Well presented and plenty of it. Attended an opera night with a professional opera singer serenading us between courses. Really good fun. She explained the plots beforehand which was really interesting and helpful.

Absolutely love this place!! Been a couple of times and the food has been outstanding. Simple, beautifully cooked, Good honest Italian food. It reminded me of home cooked food, lovingly and skillfully prepared and plated.

Lovely cicchetti, authentic home made style dishes full of flavour. Deserts were amazing, could have eaten the limoncello posset all day!
