Tralee bay Fish and Chips in Argyll & Bute

What can I say, it was the best fish and chips I have ever eaten, it was cooked to perfection, the batter on the fish was so light and not greasy at all. Will definitely be back!

Después de prometernos a nosotros mismos que tendríamos un capricho e iríamos aquí varios meses después de estar encerrados, nos aventuramos al famoso chippy.El pescado y las patatas fritas estaban bien, pero estaban tibios y la masa de pescado un poco pasada, así que estaba un poco destripado. Todo sabía bien y el servicio era bueno, así que creo que tal vez los probaríamos de nuevo en caso de que fuera una excepción.

Would 100% agree with the reviews which say this is the best fish and chip shop they have been to. Chips were incredible!

Love using our local chippy, never a bad meal, the fish suppers are the best, amazing pizzas and great staff🌟 Since covid they have had always followed strict guidelines and protocols, very clean and it's great being able to pre order meals in advance.

La salsa tártara también era absolutamente perfecta. ¡Felicidad pura! ! ! !

Fui a Oban por un día y mi primo que vive allí nos contó sobre el pescado y papas fritas de Tralee, así que llamamos con anticipación y reservamos debido al Covid y no nos decepcionó. La cena estaba recién salida cuando llegamos y nos proporcionaron los condimentos que pedimos y tenedor y cuchillo. Condujimos hasta la cabecera del lago Creran, qué mejor vista que sentarse al lado de un lago con colinas a tu alrededor y pagar una fortuna en algunos lugares por esto. Definitivamente volvere

Mejor pescado y patatas fritas. Y para mi sorpresa ahora están haciendo PIZZAS wow. Bien merece una visita. Y una buena selección. Por razones de covid y seguridad, tuve que reservar un horario para recoger mi comida. Al igual que un reloj, no hay problema. Bien hecho, nos vemos pronto.

Fue una experiencia maravillosa ~ el pescado y las patatas fritas fueron los mejores que he tenido. De hecho, nuestra amiga gastronómica (y gran cocinera) Tanya se comió cada bocado para recibir excelentes críticas sin devolver nada, lo cual es un respaldo importante.

We absolutely love Tralee Bay Fish and Chips. We live in Oban and drive out of Oban especially for our Tralee Bay fix!! The quality of the food is always fantastic and Paul and his team always go the extra mile to ensure that we are never disappointed! Keep doing exactly what you are doing because it's a winning formula!

We visit the beautiful Tralee Bay twice a year and have done for 6 years now. We love it. Such a peaceful, tranquil place. The lodges are fantastic and we are always well looked after.We never miss a "chip" night as the quality of the food is always worth the wait, albeit the large fish is medium and it's expensive. It tastes fantastic so worth it.I'm sorry to say, on our last visit, it was very different. (Aug 19)On this trip we were accompanied by friends from America, who couldn't wait to sample our traditional fish and chips. How embarrassed we were.I won't go on about how bad the chips were, all I will say is they were obviously reheated from the day before. There is no other explanation as to why we could hardly chew them - that's how bad they were.We will return to Tralee in May 20, we will buy the delicious fish, but, we will make our own chips.Disappointing, for an award winning chippy, we expected better.The reason we didn't complain, got soaked picking them up and didn't want to venture back out in our beautiful rain.Looking forward to returning in May 20 and better chips.

Only open Wednesday to Saturday, the food is always freshly cooked and really tasty. Best takeaway by far.

The quality of our order: fish & chips and scampi & chips (with homemade tartar sauce) was excellent. A 20 min wait confirmed everything was cooked fresh to order and it was well worth waiting. We were made to feel very welcome by the staff and our dog had access to a water bowl and was give a wee treat too! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone near by, as it's definitely some of the best fish and chips we've had!

We visited on Friday night, we had a Scampi supper and a Fish supper. Both were excellent and the tartare sauce was so good we popped back to take some home with us! Staff were very friendly and helpful, would highly recommend a visit here. Expect a wait as all meals are cooked to order but it’s well worth it.

I have frequented this little fish and chip shop for a number of years. I found the staff to be happy and helpful, The food is delicious and also the choice for a small chippy is great, please note, food is cooked to order, so be prepared to wait a few minutes, you won't be disappointed,.

We'd been told it was worth a visit but... Wow... We've tried different chip shops around Oban (and the rest of the UK) but this is the best. Great service and a delicious supper. If you're in Oban or the surrounding area, make the short trip out, it'll be worth it.

We were recommend by our site - Highfield Holidays. Quick walk and a fantastic fish and chips! We organised by tickets - great selection! Plenty of outdoor picnic bench seating too so we could eat with the dogs.

We stayed at Highfield with my camper guy highly recommended here for our tea very short walk which we done with my cocker puppy staff were superb fish supper was amazing would highly recommend it’s very busy but efficient staff and well worth the shortish wait we will return

We got back to tralee bay holiday park . The smell of the fish and chips and wife said it was a dinner sort then . The dinners was great. It is cooked to order so they was a small queue.

I visited tralee bay chippy on a sunny August evening. We brough a bottle of wine and glasses with us as we heard there can be a wait.

I honestly can’t tell you how good these fish and chips are....we travel every year 260 miles from Yorkshire and have to say they are far beyond the quality we get back home, the service, staff and quality are beyond expectations and I would highly recommend the fish supper to anyone, perfect fresh fish and super tasty!

We found this on Google and it was close to the Hotel we stayed in. Needed a change of resturant food and wanted some good old Fish & Chips. Did not disappoint us. Worth a visit but check the short opening hours which my change in the summer months.

We loved the fish and chips. Made to order. Very fresh fish. We paid £8 for the medium fish supper and that was a big serving. Well worth it.

Amazing food, both the fish and chips are top quality. It is a bit more expensive than some of the other chip shops in the area, but is very convenient for holiday-goers in the immediate area. Watch the opening times though as they aren't around all week.

Great wee spot to stop. All cooked to order Lovely and fresh fish. Pickled onions were a bit soft but can forgive that as they were the last 2 in the jar and the new jar ones were crisp.

The haddock was perfect in a delicious batter. The chips were yummy. Portions were generous. I wish we lived closer.

Best “fash” and chips that I have had in many years. Had to wait a good forty mins but well worth the wait !!!

Best fish and chips. Huge portions. Friendly staff. It was busy when we arrived so had to wait about 25 minutes. But it was worth the wait. You can sit at tables outside. We had a dog with us and he was welcomed

We've been here before and knew the fish suppers were lovely. We made a large order for a group of us on a Friday evening and they handed it really well and made it all really quickly.

Been coming here for a couple of years now and will always keep going back. Best wee find in the local area yet. Good food lots of choice and friendly staff that are very accommodating.Nice seated area outside to sit with the family and enjoy. Would like to recommend one thing but that would be a tricky choice as it's all fab. Will be visiting again in a couple of weeks.

My family and I (6 of us in total) were staying on the park for the weekend. We've visited previously as a smaller group with good results. Our order was taken quickly and even though it was a big order they turned it around very quicky despite there being a steady stream of customers there. Their suppers are top quality, really tasty, great portion sizes. well priced with plenty of variety and the guys working were cheerful and friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them!

Waited a while but everything was freshly cooked to order. Fish was lovely. Chips were good too. Battered mushrooms were my favourite. The macaroni cheese bites were okay wouldn't order them again, felt the coating on the outside was too thick.

Lovely little fish and chip van in the Holiday Park. Very busy little place but everything is cooked to order so it is very very tasty! Have a wee game of putt putt while you wait.

Excellent, Father in Law describes the fish and chips here as the best he's had. He's 81, varying size portions depending upon your appetite too

This is a wonderful American style caravan where fresh food is cooked for you as you wait. The staff are helpful and friendly and they do the best fish and chips on the West Coast.

Reading some of the reviews I'm not sure what some people expect but in our opinion this is a quality chippie with fresh fish ALL cooked to order and the best chips I've had from a chippie in years, I scoffed the lot of a large serving which is unusual for me. We'll definitely be back when next in the area in our caravan. Thanks all for great food, music while we waited on it frying and for the blether about white puddings!

Tried this place last Wednesday and oh my goodness definitely the best fish and chips in the area , the staff are lovely even had chews for dogs waiting lol . They make everything but their tartare sauce is just the best !! If in the area give it a try it’s so good we went back again the next night and we were definitely not let down with our choices !! The smoked haddock and mozzarella fish cakes were so yummy and their battered mushrooms are amazing just wish they had a place down in Ayrshire lol .

I have visited Oban on numerous occasions and always go out of my way to visit Tralee Fish and Chips. The food is excellent, fresh and cooked to order, the portions are very generous and the choice is excellent. The staff are always happy and friendly and eager to help.

Always visit this super fish and chip shop when in Benderloch. Excellent quality, portion size and taste. Well worth the visit and wait. Highly recommended to anyone visiting this area. Staff are lovely too.

I have had a fish supper it was fantastic the abest fish I have ever had I have also tried the the sausage chicken nuggets and the scampi they are all delicious you won’t get anything better anywhere else and the staff are very polite and the premises are lovely and well kept

This little place is so good. Food is made to order by these guys. The fish is amazing. The batter so crisp. Portion sizes are huge. If you are in the area DONT miss out on visiting. It will be worth it.

Great fish and chips shop. The food is always delicious have been here a few times when stay at a near by campsite. The food is always of a high standard and made fresh it can be quite expensive but always worth it if up this way as it is the best chippy up there.

I have visited here twice in the last few weeks. It's absolutely lovely chicken nuggets, fish and curry sauce were definitely our family favourites. Lovely staff. Nice area to sit and eat. Reasonably priced and a very popular wee place! Will deffinetly be back soon.

We stay at this site in benderloch near oban for a week and had 2 suppers there they are simply the best we had 2 haddock suppers and the lady said one looks more like a whale and my goodness it was massive our chic nuggets and chic breasts were fab no wonder it won the awards that it has great place to eat don't miss out

Simple effective outdoor eating or takeaway is the order of the day here. Super handy for holidaymakers at Tralee Holiday and North Ledaig Caravan parks not to mention all the self catering places locally. But we are the locals - and we love it too! Super fresh food made while you wait - so not always fast food if its busy - but you know its been made with you in mind. Great staff look after your every need with all the regular offerings on hand. Outside the trailer - the picnic tables are ready for your use - whether while waiting or if your hungry - just eat!

Just finished another great meal from the guys at tralee bay! Chicken nuggets are phenomenal! As are the mac bites! And my mother's was so good that she demanded I add that her fish was amazing! Brilliant meal!

I moved from Edinburgh where I had plenty of choices to go to for a chippy to Benderloch where this is my only option. I am so glad this is the option. This is better than any chippy I have had in Edinburgh.

Visiting as a tourist and the place was closed. What's the point of that! Very disappointing and we won't be back

This is our 4th visit to this 'chippy' during our annual pilgrimage to Scotland.

Really good fish & chips from here last Saturday evening. Had to wait nearly 30mins but was warned of this when ordering, well worth the wait tho. Lovely fish and not a sign of grease.

As chippys go, it’s a chippy, but this one stood out. Waiting time was more than normal but was worth the wait, great food (haggis was very good) very pleasant staff and everyone enjoyed it. Worth a go

I totally agree with an unknown customer that i overheard saying to Paul, the owner........ "You never get perfect chips or perfect fish together at any chip shop, anywhere, it's either one or the other......however, here you have achieved both together".

We are staying on site so a must for us. Busy eatery because its impressively very popular. Portions are large, service efficient, bearing in mind that it's all cooked to order. Batter is crisp an light. Perhaps not the cheapest but certainly quality.

Staying down the road at Seaview Campsite, wandered up to Tralee Bay for some fish and chips. I hear it gets busy, but I think we were here before the crowds, so were served immediately. The people are lovely and clearly care about their food....

Came across the small chip shop / van after checking out trip advisor, it had a lot of 5 star reviews so thought I’d go and try it out on after visiting Fort william on my way back to Taynuilt

We have previously stayed at Tralee By holiday park out of season so never had the pleasure before now. It was so great to have this open when we arrived after travelling 6 hours. All had haddock and chips which was delicious. We ate on our last night too, having chips, fish, peas, battered sausage and scampi (fresh and delicious). It’s the most unique chip shop I have been to but the best. Prices reasonable for the large portion size. Happy friendly staff and everything freshly made (you may have to wait a bit till your number is called). Highly recommend.
