Trafalgar Tavern in Greenwich

Had the fish board. Really tried hard as I hate wasted food but the herring was ugh. The board included slimy smoked salmon without a hint of even a lemon wedge. Its a weekend and we were casually dressed and immediately referred to the self service part of the pub. Not even given the choice. Would not recommend wish I'd gone to a Wetherspoon!

My sons and I booked for the 'pub' at the Tavern. It was very busy as it was Easter Sunday...but it was extremely efficient, my son ordered at the bar and by the time he got back to the table our lovely roast lunches were arriving! Great lunch, good value and a wonderful view of the River Thames.....what more could you want? I had had my wedding reception upstairs at the Trafalgar some fifty years previously....it's still a great venue!

Great location. Food awful. No coffee upstairs. Staff useless and not trained in hospitality. Toilets needed a clean. Would not go again.

Not a pub to go to if you are gluten and dairy intolerant. The ONLY item on the menu I could eat was the soup and this came without bread. I went there for a meal and left hungry. Gluten and dairy are the two most common allergies/intolerances. I couldn't even have chips because they were cooked in the same fat as everything else.

I visited Trafalgar Tavern on Sunday 24th April for lunch with four guests. It was very busy lunch time. The service was excellent and staff approachable and helpful. The food was excellent and as first time visit my guests were very impressed. The setting is so magnificent, with artifacts and paintings everywhere mainly with Nelson and Battle of Trafalgar theme. The view of River Thames, Docklands and Canary Wharf is fabulous. I can strongly recommend Trafalgar Tavern to anyone who are planning to visit Greenwich. Muhsin M

Came here for Sunday lunch today. We were early but staff were lovely and we had a great table with amazing 02 views across the river. Beautiful venue and location. Ordered the lamb shoulder. It melted in your mouth. The entire plate was yum! My friend had the choc brownie dessert and I had apple crumble. Lovely finish to a delicious lunch. Highly recommend!

I have been frequenting the Trafalgar Tavern (the pub part) as a local for years. The amazing views and the atmosphere at quiet times are lovely, despite the staff tending to be quite unfriendly and robotic. I have recently had a special occasion dinner at the Nile Restaurant. The interior is truly amazing for the views of the Thames and the incredible collection of paintings. Unfortunately, while the setting was genuinely beautiful, the food and the staff left much to desire. Only 2 out of five main courses (the ox tounge and the baked cod) were worth the prices charged; the rest was of cantine style quality: fish and chips was greasy, the veggie burger had a cardboard feel to it, and the cordon bleu was leathery with no cheese inside (you get better cordon bleus from a supermarket freezer!). Added to this was a somewhat baffling service, with a young waitress addressing everyone (some of us could have been her grandparents) in turn as "deary" as if in a greasy spoon caf. The level of attention delivered was minimal and lacked any trace of positivity: e.g. we had to move used glasses to another table and re-arrange the table ourselves to make space for incoming plates. We generally felt as if the staff were doing us a favour by attending to us at all. So whilst the place is truly worth a visit for its own historic sake and the setting, the restaurant is not worth the money for the food and the grumpy and badly trained staff.

£44 for 4 drinks! 2 pints and 2 white wines. The Sav Blanc wine was undrinkable. Vinegar. Staff wouldn't change it. Great spot but terribly over priced.

A nice pub with great food! We were able to get a table near the window/water, which made our visit better. The ambiance of the pub was also great! It has a nice classic and nautical pub vibe. The outside is also very cute.

A warm and friendly welcome from Rob and the team at The Trafalgar on a very busy Saturday in February. The fire was roaring on a rather chilly day which meant the table next to it was very welcome. The view from the window is just amazing and a great spot to people watch. The food was served quickly and hot from the kitchen, my burger was lovely with a really nice bbq flavour and my husband’s fish and chips was delicious and plentiful. Unfortunately, we couldn’t manage dessert - next time for sure!! The position of this pub is just amazing and I can’t recommend it enough.

We love it here. We pretend to be tourists and take in the views and art and atmosphere. The food is perfect for pub grub and for us it is brilliant to have a separate restaurant space where it is quieter than the main bar area. The service can be a little bizarre but we always return for an easy meal out.

Wonderful staff offering a very warm welcome on a cold grey day. The barmaid even made a bespoke chocolate cocktail for my wife.

Trafalgar is our local but the first time taking our family. We had a fabulous Sunday lunch - Sabrina was brilliant and went above and beyond for us. Thanks so much.

Went for Sunday Lunch yesterday with a friend. The quality of the food did not match the expensive price tag, it was completely bland and roast potatoes were undercooked. They also put a service charge on the food without telling you (even though you go to the bar to order yourself) and the drinks were ridiculously expensive (the Coldharbour larger is over £8 and I paid over £7 for a Guinness). Such a shame as I live locally. I've also walked past in the morning and seen them use an air blower to blow all the rubbish from the floor into the thames!!

Very poor food quality, cold, tasteless & very expensive. We all had Sunday roast but it wasn’t enjoyable. The building & location is fabulous but we felt ripped off & let down. We won’t be returning which is a shame.

Service terrible. Waited 10 mins at a nearly empty bar. Barman was unapologetic . Ordered two drinks on with and one without ice. Got them the wrong way round. When I pointed it out he tutted and poured it away . Don’t think I’ll be back.

Sunday Roast at the restaurant in the bar. I’m a fussy sod , especially when I’m paying top dollar. Congratulations to the owners of this wonderful place. Fantastic quality , and wonderful staff. It may be a tourist place, but it’s a great place to eat and watch the Thames roll by. Will be back

I had prebooked a table online and I was glad I had. It was busy but we were seated straight away. We were seated at a window table and even on a rainy December evening it was a nice view. Food is usual pub grub and the staff were very nice. Was the food amazing? No but there was a nice atmosphere and this pub is in a great location. Definitely a tourist spot.

I was here for dinner with my family over the Christmas break. I've been before so i prebooked a table online. When we arrived we were seated quickly by a window looking out over the river. The service was quick and the food was ok, usual pub grub. This seems to be a tourist pub so drinks are expensive but the service was good. It's in a really nice location, even on a rainy December evening.

Beautiful pub/restaurant right on the Thames with great views. Amazing atmosphere. Chic dining rooms. Great friendly service and delicious food. Great value for money.

Went into what looked like a great establishment with family to get mulled wine for a chilly day. Asked the receptionist if they actually sold mulled wine, and were told yes but they were just marking a new batch which would be ready in ten minutes. We decided to order a beer whilst waiting which was very frustrating as we could not get any service. The bar men were making drinks but then running backwards and forward to make coffee and tea. We were ignored for at least 25 minutes after which time we managed to ask about the mulled wine. What a shock when we were told it would be ready in 30 minutes. That was enough we walked out and were happy to find somewhere else.

Booked lunch on Christmas Eve. Very disappointed with service as staff were very curt bordering on rude. No smiles no Merry Christmas. Whilst appreciating how busy they were and food did arrive promptly which was good, staff made no effort to enhance our celebration and we would not return for this reason.

We just enjoyed a Christmas Lunch and flown over 20,000 miles to cone here. You worked around my seafood allergy and it was great. Joe was our server and he was absolutely on the ball and looked after our every whim. Your location is stunning....

Great venue spoilt by rude unhelpful staff at our firms party. The events manager a Chinese lady who took our booking had to work our bar and was so rude to us ! All our staff said how rude brash and attitude was vile ....

This is a place where Charles Dickens wrote and has a lot of history behind. We enjoyed the food and the vibes in the restaurant. All the staff are amazingly polite and ready to help. I highly recommend for those who visit Greenwich! 😇🥰

Very disappointing food. It was stodgy, fatty, highly processed and not very palatable. You have to pay upfront for your food when you order from the waiter. The staff are lovely and the views are superb.
