Totally Espresso in Barnet

Recently stopped here after a business meeting for a quick bite to eat with my work colleagues as we were in the area. Charming neighbourhood cafe. Food was really good and wholesome. Could see it was prepared with care and love. Coffees great as well. Not sure if it was the owners or management but the couple that run the place are really friendly and was evident that they know how to please customers by the amount of guests that they greet by name. Will definitely be back. My only hassle was the food looked so good and was hungry I never took photos to do them jusitice. Next time :)

I'm a regular here and have always enjoyed the coffee, the food and the atmosphere.

Love this place and few spot for parking nearby, plus can go for a wall after in avenue house. Service is friendly and fast, food also comes out fast. Have been popping in for years and even though its a bit pricey the atmosphere and service make it worth it, the cakes are also yummy we had an apple tart...Will be back

I come here occasionally as it is convenient. However, service is often slow with the staff coming across as surly and disinterested. No eye contact, no smiles. Tea and coffee average. Food the same. No point sitting outside as all you end up doing in breathing in traffic fumes. There is almost no ventilation inside so in the warmer months it becomes stifling. There are better places on Regents Park Rd. Update: came here more recently. They have now installed Aircon which is great. Service is now by two women who are very friendly. However in the nicest possible way, could staff please not stand behind counter talking loudly the entire time ? Also walking around the cafe cleaning and talking across the cafe to each other loudly? This was literally non stop. I could not hear myself think or even speak to friend without distraction. Also it was described to me the bread would be brown sourdough in actual fact it was white.

Very convenient to get to, as this cafe is located next to the junction of east end road and regents park road/ballards lane. Quality coffee and good variety of cakes , i tried the cherry muffin which was yummy. Very friendly service, and on a sunny day you can have a table outside .

Best coffee I have had in years. Always taste way better than any other coffee brand. Always stop here to get a caramel cappuccino when I am passing. Excellent place recommend to all definitely

Best coffee and brunch in Finchley!

Great coffee and the Cannoli was delicious. The staff were very friendly and the place has a really nice atmosphere.

Lovely place but they slap on a 12.5% service charge just for a coffee. Think they need to remember they are a small cafe not a restaurant and you have to go to the till to pay so actually just placing a coffee on a table for someone and collecting the cup is not really worth such a hefty service charge. The coffee was nice but I won't be visiting again in a hurry. The other bizarre thing is that they seem to make up the prices for the food which are not the prices stated on the menu.

Great local cafe, nice staff and really tasty lunch options and coffee. Alot of locals come here and I really enjoyed how chilled and friendly it is. Nice decor.

Just bought the most expensive take-away cappuccino, £3.10- don’t ever remember a t/a coffee at that price, particularly in the North London area. Next I can go to Dorchester and have it for a fiver- in a spacious environment and top service.

One of the best coffees in London that has an unique smoothness and the “will return” aftertaste. A broad range of food and cakes to go with a coffee which has a taste close to perfection. Easily accessible and close to a park, this place is perfectly suitable for a morning coffee, brunch or an afternoon snack with friends. Highly recommended !!!

They make really lovely coffee and the quality of the food is much higher than the other coffee shops in the area which are similarly priced - I definitely will be returning here in the future.

I discovered it luckily while helping moving things around to my mates new flat. They could easily stop selling coffee for me and just give around those almond crossints. Jezus f christ. How can something be soo good? And you know what? They even have good coffee there... Ok so maybe they should not stop selling coffee. Those two combined just made my day. I would say it was better then sex.

The sandwiches here are always spot on, really enjoy the salmon and avocado. Even the bread is really tasty! Coffee is good, as are smoothies. Employees are always really friendly too. The only minor thing I'm not as keen on is the cakes. They don't seem to have as much taste as I would have thought. They all seem to be gluten free, not sure if this impacts on the flavour.

The food is good as are the drinks.

I have eaten here frequently for breakfast, coffee and lunch. The portion sizes have definitely decreased. Walnut and fruit toast used to be large slices of delicious speciality breads. Now a few thin, measly slices of tasteless boring toast.

I love the avocado, smoke salmon and egg on top. Delicious. Highly recommend it for breakfast. Such nice staff. Great start to a Saturday

Invited a friend for lunch. He ordered a salad nicoise but with fresh tuna cooked rare. We were served a normal tuna salad with the tuna well done. He told the waitress this was not what he ordered there must be a misunderstanding and she told him sarcastically ‘she knows clients are always right’ My friend didn’t want to raise problems and simply told them anyhow he was not hungry and they could take it away. During the time we were there chatting the owner came out to rudely tell him the menu exists for a reason. When the bill came his salad £12.50 was charged. We obviously contested it and the owner after arguing said ‘I’ll take it off and I don’t want to see you again’ We paid for everything anyway and left. I used to go there often with the family as it’s a very nice place. Reading other comments today it seems this is not an unusual experience here. I had never been thrown out of anywhere in my life.

Been a couple of times to this place for breakfast and the food is delicious. I have always ordered the ham and cheese omelette with 🍊 juice. The staff is polite, the prices a bit expensive for a neighbourhood bar but anyway, it doesn't matter that much when you eat tasty food. The place is clean, but you can feel the smell of cooking food in the waiting area. To mention is the fact that if you have children with pushchair there is no place where to put them and also no highchairs,at least to keep your baby with you.

Delicious food, especially the salads. Bit pricey, but I don't mind, as the meals are very good. The service has always been friendly and quick. I would recommend it.

Just popped in for a coffee with a friend and completely shocked by outrageous and inappropriate behaviour by the 'boss'. Seconds after my friend told him he didn't like the way he had spoken to by him, the owner swooped up the coffees he had just served and told us to leave. Literally; "now get off my premises before I ..." I can't repeat the rest of what he said. When I asked why I was being asked to leave he just repeated "get off my premises". Ignorant way to treat customers. Don't go there unless you like being abused.

I travelled some distance to join my mother and cousin for lunch. As I arrived in the pouring rain with my daughter sound asleep in her pushchair the manager rushed out onto the street to tell me that I would not be allowed in. They have a no pushchair policy apparently. Who has that in this day and age? I wouldn't be surprised if you weren't allowed to breastfeed in there either. There was plenty of room for the pushchair but he was adamant that I wasn't coming in and he turned me and my daughter away into the pouring rain despite the fact that my mother and cousin were halfway through their lunch. It felt like total discrimination. Horrible. I will never go back there and nor should anyone who has small children, or who has ever had small children.

Really disappointed to discover that this cafe has a 'no pram' policy. They wouldn't even make an exception when the cafe was almost empty and the weather outside was bitterly cold. They also charge 50p if you spend less than £10 on a credit card which I think is really miserable. The take away cakes were quite nice, but I won't be visiting again.

As local residents, this neighbourhood cafe may have had good reviews for coffee, breakfasts and cake but visiting there for lunch recently was a disappointing experience. My toasted panini tuna sandwich left a lot be be desired and was tasteless and my guest's toasted chicken schnitzel sandwich was almost inedible as it was coated in thick layer of breadcrumbs. We certainly wont be returning for lunch.

Totally Espresso is an upmarket coffee bar serving fresh, fresh, fresh cakes and light meals. The coffee is excellent but only one style of coffee bean. More variety would be good. Can recommend the ummy carrot cake and the salads are always imaginative and very fresh.

Having been to Totally Espresso so many times before I was happy to make a date with my family to have breakfast today. I have a three month old baby and when I entered the cafe, which was virtually empty, I was shouted at by a waitress across the restaurant advising I wasn't allowed to come in with my pram. I uncomfortably asked firstly if she would come to the door to speak and then where could I leave my pram and she said outside, there was no shed or lock so if I did that it would likely to be stolen. I virtually had to beg to be allowed to collapse the pram in order that I didn't have to go home and she reluctantly agreed after I had to change the tone of my request. This is discrimination and the whole experience was awful as I was felt like my custom wasn't good enough, despite having eaten there numerous times before. In this day and age to be so unwelcoming to mothers is actually disgusting and I will ensure that my experience is known.

A cozy place in Finchley area of Northern London. We had cappuccino and carrot cake and enjoyed it. Most customers seem to be local residents. Good service and pleasant ambience. They also serve breakfast and lunch.

Totally Espresso is a pleasant cafe. Food is good, interesting and contemporary. How it is classified as Brazilian on TA is beyond me as it certainly is not. Cakes look ok and a decent selection. Salads are nice. Coffee could be improved, especially in London where getting a decent flat white should be possible - it is a coffee shop after all. Bizarrely buggies are not allowed inside (so even if your baby is sleeping, you can't bring it in!). Service is ok, though tends to be a bit frosty. Wifi is good. Certainly best in terms of all local options in the vicinity.

I am amazed! I'd heard this was a nice new neighbourhood coffee shop, and so I went to try. It is popular -- but can that be because it is the only coffee shop in its immediate vicinity?? The coffee was bitter and the chocolate croissant was definitely not baked that day! Dry and flabby. What you want are crispy, flaky layers that yield to the touch and the tooth!I dared to complain, and was treated to a "lecture" by the owner explaining how wrong I was and how right he is! Wouldn't go there again.

Now our favourite local for breakfast and sometimes lunch or just a coffee. Small, quirky and friendly. Food freshly prepared, good scrambled eggs, salads, sandwiches, excellent cakes and really good coffee. It is closed on a Sunday but their branch further up East End Road in Avenue House is open.

This place is a secret gem. Seek it out and enjoy what a coffee shop should be with good products and good staff.

This little cafe has great service, great coffee and all the staff are lovely! Carrot cake is soooo yummy! Salads always good and prepared with care. Nothing too much trouble and if the coffee needs more/less milk etc they are happy to change it with a smile! Fab local in Finchley

coffee is good but the best was pancake!! We had our breakfast for the first time here and we are glad we have easy access to go there everytime we feel like having one!!Definitely going very soon to try more!
