Topolino Restaurant in Newcastle upon Tyne

Really beautiful food, we popped in for something quick before the theatre and we were truly impressed. The service was warm and friendly, the food quality was amazing and great value. Will be back!

We received a warm welcome after being let down by anotherdel restaurant, which we felt we had to walk away from. We were given Alltwen time we wanted to relax and make our touch of bite choices, which we were very pleased just with. The bresola was a very generous portion and very tasty, which we complimented with some bread and olives. I have in the past had a risotto made with the wrong type of rice, but their dishes were delicious and creamy, which it should always be. A top rate dish. We also ordered the pasta with prawns, which again cooked to perfection with just a touch of bite in the pasta, which it should be. Overall, a very friendly, welcoming family run restaurant , very reasonably priced.

Not sure why this is so highly rated. The sausage pasta came in a gravy (?) and steak was extremely salty - would not come here again. Also the bathroom is covered in mould.. save your money.

My first visit to Topolino but I’ll definitely be going back. Lovely, large helpings of tasty food. Nice service from a young team, the wine was very good quality too. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit and will definitely be visiting again.

Took a chance on this place as it was my son’s birthday and he wanted an Italian dinner . This place is outstanding and definitely worth a visit . The food and especially the wine were exceptional. The staff went out of there way to make my sons birthday the one to remember. The portions were large compared to London and we struggled to finish everything on the plate . Most definitely recommend this place for authentic Italian cuisine. Don’t bother going to the chain restaurants go here for a truly memorable experience.

If you are looking for a lovely Italians that will fill you up at a reasonable price this is the place. Decor could do with an upgrade but service was spot on and the food was lovely. Would highly recommend the penne arrabiata.

Super friendly and attentive staff. 16 GBP for a 3 course meal. Portions were huge. Overall, very good value for money!

We had our 3rd visit here this evening in the last few months. Absolute value for money. Great attentive staff and the food is very good for the prices that they charge. Can you get better quality food? Yes you can, but they do not is claim to Michelin, so your not paying those prices. This is a great restaurant. Thank you for providing really good food for a great price, in a lovely venue with a great atmosphere! Reading two of the more negative recent reviews on here I wonder if they would ever be really happy?

Came here with 2 friends last night and what a fabulous experience we had. Fantastic, friendly service from Amy the manager and the other server who was working. They were attentive to our dietary requirements and the food was fantastic. Great portion sizes, the salmon dish I had was delicious, came with vegetables and chips served in separate bowls - the presentation was lovely! We will be back again that's for sure. Thank you for making our night so special!

Avoid eating here me and my partner stayed in Newcastle for the night on the 24th August and we were excited to eat here , when we got our seat with our baby we ordered drinks . Then our main course I ordered the pollo dolce latte and what a laughing stock it was the portion of chicken I got was appalling it was no bigger than a bank card and at the price of £17.95 ,my partner ordered the bruschetta which was pretty much like eating the end of the garlic bread covered in mixed leaves from tesco . When we voiced this the manager a woman wearing a blue blouse said that's just how it comes and continued to give us an uncomfortable opinion with attitude me and my partner were extremely discruntled by this and we asked to leave after telling her we owned our own restaurant and that if she was a member of my staff she would of been sacked on the spot as soon as we said this she was apologetic and panicked. You ruined our night and stay in Newcastle we will not be returning ever again avoid this place like the plague

Went here for my wife's birthday celebrations 🍾...Food was excellent...as was the service...Glass of wine on the house for the birthday girl, then a round of Frangelico's for our party, after the meal. Excellent value for money and superb quantity food. A must visit place in the toon 💞

The food quality is the main let down here. The place is nice and the young staff are very friendly and attentive. However the pizzas had very bland, very uniform (suggesting not very fresh) and very chewy bases and the toppings weren't of a good quality. It just wasn't fresh. To look at or to eat. It's fine if you know what I mean, but below the standard of an average local Italian restaurant. So, while it fills a hole on a hungry evening, I'd recommend trying somewhere else.

Really good value for money given how central this is. Staff were lovely as well.

Lunch in this place was very good. We had soup of the day and garlic bread. You can really taste it was home made, and used fresh ingredients. Lunch deal was also just 12,95 which is a very good price indeed for such a fabulous meal.

Came here for a meal before going to a show at the sage. We got a table even though we hadn't booked. The food was lovely and reasonable. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would reccomend it to people and will return in the future

Had prawn cocktail to start whick was ok and beef stroganoff whick waa plentiful but lacked creaminess and flaouur. Ut was more like grilled beef in a gravy. Compensated by a lovely atmosphere and superb service

Really great little place, small, but friendly, like Italian restaurants used to be, not mass production served up in a homogeneous chain. Good food, good value.

Not for me. Food was OK...only jjust OK. After all the reviews I read I was disappointed. I had 4 king prawns in my main meal..... only 4!!!!! To top it all it was freezing cold in the restaurant. Everyone was putting their coats back on and was asking for the heating to be put on or turned up

Probably one of the worst place I’ve been to in Newcastle and I’ve been to a lot of places!! First off the staff are totally uninterested and miserable - they lack basic training and table service etiquette. The decor is dated and needs a refurb. The food was OK but nothing special. When requesting the bill, the card machine was instantly shoved in our faces.

Had dinner tonight with my Wife 2 risottos steak and chicken...im afraid we didn't enjoy them at all...steak was chewy in mine and my Wife only ate part of her meal...we never said anything in the true brit tradition...but needless to say won't be back.

the Milne party dined at 830 on Saturday evening the restaurant was a new venue for us all but the staff were welcoming and the menu was plentiful . the chefs did a great job with all the food that was prepared for us . the waitresses were attentive without being obtrusive 12/10 well done many thanks for a great evening

Good tastes less although decent portion sizes. Staff mainly the manager head waitress rude as anything. Wasn't asked if we wanted a second drink eye rolled when asked something . Would not return EVER

Just Finished a lovely Relaxing meal - perfect chilled atmosphere beautiful food great service and exceptional value for money

We made a late booking for NYE after ringing several restaurants so were surprised to get a table. A party member was recently diagnosed with gallstones so was worried about what to order. Eventually he chose steak and we explained that we didn’t want any oils used in the food. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful if they tried with the chef even preparing a low fat peppercorn sauce option. Food was lovely too.

Tonight a group of us enjoyed another perfect evening. Delicious food and spot on service. A super delightful restaurant.

Service was very friendly and welcoming. The cruda and recola pizza toppings were delicious and worked well together. However, I found the base and crust a bit too bread like in consistency. In the back part of the restaurant, some small areas of wallpaper are peeling off.

By far the best Italian to go to in Newcastle, every single time it’s amazing and not faults whatsoever. Would definitely recommend to anyone, it is a small restaurants so sometimes they get fully booked quick.

Was left standing in the doorway while she checked for table then appeared up the stairs with food so we asked asked someone else for a table. Once seated everything fine place attractive and food delicious just a shame on the first impression but I would still return

5* last year, 3* now however. The staff were amazing, super friendly and attentive. The food however was not as good as I had recalled. No moretti on draft to start, so were given bottles of luke warm perroni. Starters were brilliant. The main was slightly disappointing as the steak was overcooked and even dry, luckily the peppercorn sauce saved it.

Last min booking and they fitted us in, pleasent staff and service, I found my pizza calozoni a little stodgy and unloved, but my friends really enjoyed there pizzas starters every one loved, good prices and a full restaurant so they are doing most things right.

Great little restaurant. Very reasonable prices for both food and drink. Staff friendly. Food very tasty. The happy hour menu was great with a good few options. Only slight downside was the tiramisu. Shown on the menu as a slice, but turned up as a layered dessert in a glass with A LOT of cream. Sponge bit was tasty, there just wasn't a lot of it. Would still return to dine here again, but would probably go for sticky toffee pudding next time, which a friend said was amazing!

Really amazing lunch deal from 12-15PM you get 2 plates (starter+main) for roughly 15 pounds and I can guarantee you you will be full and happy by the end of your lunch! The chef can also do personalised dishes as I was a vegetarian the tagliatelle carbonara were made with mushrooms instead ! Top notch chef and also waiters !! Absolutely recommend ! The interior is quirky with painting and very nice ! The only unexpected place are the toilets due to the building the door couldn't be built to the top of the roof might surprise initially but nothing major really the food and the customer experience is top notch !!
