Topo Gigio in Epsom and Ewell

Had a lovely night at Topo’s food,atmosphere and staff were great as always. I recommend this Italian restaurant.

Me and my partner love coming to this place, great atmosphere and welcoming customer service. I can not fault the food, we have tried pretty much everything on the menu and we have never been disappointed. If you are looking for a traditional Italian restaurant at a VERY reasonable price then look no further!

So welcoming and delicious food. First time here and it was wonderful. Delicious food; set menus, great quality and portion size. The service was fantastic, I felt so welcome and valued. It felt so cozy in the restaurant, like going to see an old friend. Was recommended to me and I highly recommend it to you.

I defy anyone not to have a wonderful meal at Topo Gigio. The menu choice, portion size and quality of food is second to none. We have been so many times that Laura smiles when she takes our order because she knows exactly what we will be having. I just feel bad that after so many lovely meals this is the first time I have given a review that is so deserved. We had a lovely meal yesterday with our son and my parents to celebrate my dad’s birthday. It couldn’t have been better, Debbie and Jeremy x

My husband and I visited (first time for me) at the weekend for an evening meal. The restaurant was very busy (only three empty tables by 9 pm), but the atmosphere remained relaxed, and the conversation on tables was flowing and unfettered. Perfect! Despite the restaurant being so very busy, the staff were all very polite, good humoured, and attentive. The food was plentiful and the menu suitably varied. I would definitely recommend their set menu (just under £16.00 for three courses so excellent value for money). The service was also top quality!We'll definitely be returning, and this could become one of our favourite places to eat in Ewell.

Another fabulous lunchtime spent in great surroundings in Topo Gigio. How Laura and her team can supply this level of service and cuisine for the prices they charge is beyond me. Thank you!

Incredible menu, all the usual Italian favourites and of course Pasta. Plenty of fish, meat and vegetarian options. Wonderful array of bread and olives on the table. Flask of water appeared as soon as we sat down. Lovely big table. Nicely timed service, not too fast and not too slow.The food was outstanding. Scallops wrapped in bacon, avocado with mozzarella and smoked salmon. Huge Tornados Rossi and a delicious orange in caramelised gran mariner.Also available were set menus £15.95 for three courses, and a Specials menu.The price is very reasonable ( we paid more in a local pub last week!). Service is included.Lovely friendly staff and a fantastic wine list. Perfect. Great Night can’t wait to do it again.

Been many times and fantastic news it is now open again at last. Fabulous food with excellent service and Laura is an absolute delight. The menu is delectable to read making your choice extremely difficult. No matter whatever you choose you will not be disappointed. AND extremely good value for your money!

Lovely lunch with the mrs and daughter. Very friendly service, pleasant atmosphere. The sardines were fresh and light. The livers were soft and tender, just delicious Zest lemon tart just perfect and to finish it off with a very aromatic Italian coffe. Highly recommended.

We had already booked our table in advance and almost immediately we sat down we were presented with warm garlic bread and tomato, and on the table a good size bowl of olives, breadsticks and cut bread.Had a great starter from an amazing choice and the fish catch of the day was Hake which was delicious with all the trimmings. For pudding went for the healthy option of fresh fruit salad with my own jug of cream. The wines and drinks are always keenly priced, and despite nearly all the tables being used always receive excellent service and a good friendly atmosphere. We visited this restaurant again last Friday evening and, as usual, had a wonderful time. We were a party of four and we all had different starters and mani courses. All the meals were produced in a timely manner and all were very tasty and very nicely presented. The prices are very reasonable and our total bill for four came to £114 including service. We look forward to visiting again very soon.

Moderate price good food. Very good fixed price menu. Lots to choose from on the menu. Nice friendly staff. Good place to meet friends or have a celebration .

We called them to reserve a table which was ready and waiting and no sooner had we sat down we were offered warm garlic bread infused with tomato. The only problem we have is looking through such a wide choice of delicious Starters, Mails and Deserts and then finally making a choice. Each course is cooked to perfection with plenty of herbs in the mains and all such good value when you select the set meal. The atmosphere is so authentic with Italian waiters providing a good service. The House wines are tasty and good value and the lovely Laura is always available for any special food requests, and also has a great sense of humour. From Jonn aka Squirrel Man.

Well, as usual absolutely brilliant, staff lovely, food so so delicious, so many choices on the set menu, always really look forward to going there,

Friendly service... cozy decor... fun name and theme... lots of choice... I only ate braesola starter, chicken and salad main, tiramisu dessert - so I can’t really comment on the food, but generally it was as expected... good for a get together...price is fair, though we had a set menu... if I had anything I’d say would improve it, it’d be asking for more Italian style dishes on the menu... but that’s just me presuming this was an Italian place... I don’t know if it is... I think I’d recommend it... I’m grateful to have tried it out.

I’ve been past this restaurant many times and it always looks to be packed with customers, so makes me think “that must be good” but how wrong I was.

Having recently moved to the area we decided to try this local Italian. Sadly very disappointing from start to finish. The food tasted as though it was either from the freezer or straight out of a packet from a cheap supermarket. Bland, tasteless and uninspiring. We won’t be going again.

This is one of our favourite local restaurants and we visited it again last Saturday. We were a group of six and although they were very busy they found room for us. The menus are very extensive and they have a fixed price three course meal for a very reasonable £15.95 and the choice is very wide. When you first sit down you are always offered a little appetiser which is very welcome. Within our group we all ordered different starters and different main courses and they all came out very hot and well presented and extremely tasty. The restaurant was very busy so the ambience was very good but that did not affect the service which was excellent. The total bill fpr the six of us came to £220 but we did have a fair amount to drink. I can't understand the two recent reviews from MazzyMayhem and jamiejudges. I think these two much have been in the same party and just decided for some reason to be very critical. I wonder if they are connected to a different restaurant!

Some restaurants you go to for the view, this is not one of them. Other restaurants you go to to see who is eating at a neighbouring table, this is not one of them. Some restaurants you go to to for the interior design, this is certainly not one of those. It is however a restaurant to go to if you want well cooked, well presented and tasty food at a reasonable price. The portions are generous too.

Went there for lunch and was disappointed. Maybe this used to be good back in the day, but it is a tired old trattoria now. House wine was appalling and the food mediocre at best.

Once a thriving Italian maybe it still is I can only tell you my honest thoughts on tonight’s meal .

We were fitted in as it was very busy, but the food was lovely, well cooked and flavoursome, the atmosphere was buzzing with people talking and celebrating.

We have lived in this area for many years and driven past countless times but never thought of going here for dinner. We decided to go last night and booked an early table, expecting it to be quiet but it was very busy. Despite the number of people in there the service was excellent, and the attention to detail spot on. Unusually for today the bread and olives were plentiful and the food was delicious. We shall certainly be returning.

We we taken here by friends for lunch, after a very long time, and both my wife and I were pleasantly surprised nice it was, fairly busy for a midweek lunch which made a good atmosphere, we had melon & prawns salad and sardines for starters and the fish of the day for mains, with homemade tiramisu for afters, and every single mouth really was simply delicious and fresh. Nice staff, efficient with being intrusive. Would highly recommend .

Hadn’t visited here for around 15 years.

Been taken here twice now by friends who live in the area. This is a very welcoming place with a good range of traditional Italian dishes and a wide choice on the set menu. It is a one-off family run restaurant, not a chain, so maybe that is why they have such good attention to detail. It is vegetarian friendly too. Just sorry it isn't in my town!

Food quality was excellent and very good portion sizes. Excellent vale for set meal. Service was very good until the dessert when 1 table was not served for a very long time. All other customers had been served and left the restaurant. Even our sister table was served with desserts and coffee while we were still kept waiting. It was so late that we decided not to order coffee after our dessert finally came.

Visited this little Italian gem whilst on business with my wife in the area. The staff were very friendly and welcoming on arrival even though we had not booked and they found a table for us even though it was a busy evening.The menu and wine list was extensive at a very reasonable price and the atmosphere in the place was a joy. Our food was was well potioned and cooked to perfection with service that was very attentive without being too overbearing. We enjoyed it so much we returned the following evening. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

As an Italian I would without doubt recommend this restaurant for authentic Italian food. Six of us on a birthday party in a packed Saturday night restaurant and the food was on point.

I have never seen so much food presented - the starters were big enough for a main meal. Everything cooked well. How they can afford to give such large portions I have no clue, plus the menu was extremely extensive (could easily be halved to be honest!). //would recommend if you have a large appetite, if not, just have a main!

We visited on a Saturday night with a booking of 12. The restaurant was very busy and had a nice ambience. Service was friendly and efficient even though we were a big party. Everyone enjoyed their food. Much better than going to the big chain Italian restaurants. It was excellent value for money. We will be back again.

First time here for several years and was really impressed.

A last minute booking and the place was packed. Service was superb and organised. There was a three course set menu with lots of choices for 14.95£ on a Saturday too. Extensive a la carte . This is good Italian food . Not cordon bleu. But amazing value for money . free bread too! Recommended

My wife and I took my Mum for an early Mothers' Day lunch today. The three-course menu for £12.95 has a wide choice, and all our selections were well-cooked and tasty. Together with a bottle of house white, coffees and tip, the bill came to a around £63, which represented great VFM!

Group of 10 visited on Sunday evening. Table booked for 7pm and all arrived on time. The restaurant was busy, much busier than we expected for a Sunday evening and consequently service was extremely slow. Our order was not taken until 7.40 with our starters arriving at 8.10pm. Our main course did not arrived until 9pm by which time we had eaten most of the bread and olives on the table. Needless to say we didn't stay for dessert or coffee. Having said all of this the quality of the food was excellent it was just a shame that the slow service let them down.

It was a while back when I went there with my wife. I was attracted by the name which reminded a bit of childhood. I was so looking forward to some Italian food to then discover only the menu was in Italian. The food was poor and far from being at Italian standards.

Really helpful service as ever. 6 of us visited today with a toddler and baby, Very well looked after. Great menu choice and well prepared food.

We have been using this restaurant since the day it opened and are still regular visitors, why? Because the food cannot be faulted and is one of the best restaurants I know when it comes to fish variety, all of which are superb. Everything is cooked perfectly and it is difficult to fault anything. All the friendly staff are overseen by the owner Laura and there is a good buzz and atmosphere about the restaurant.

Visited with my wife. Found all the staff friendly. The food was first class. The house wine was good and not sold at a silly price. I had not visited for a few years. Going again next week. Well done a real Italian restaurant.

We celebrated a family birthday at Topo Gigio a couple of Sundays ago and thought I must thank Laura and her staff for providing us a great evening and such good service.

Usually both the best and cheapest Italian restaurant in the area, though they managed to burn all the lamb shanks last time.

This is a great Italian restaurant which is very reasonably priced and of great quality. The set three course meal has an amazing selection to choose from; especially the starters. In addition you get a bowl of olives, bread, bread sticks and bruschetta all free whilst you are deciding.

We were taken to lunch by regulars of this restaurant and can see why they are frequent visitors. It is well situated and space for parking. We chose the fixed price lunch menu and we pleasantly surprised at the choice. Some 22 starters, 15 mains and over 10 desserts. Something for everyone. Food is very tasty and good service. Definitely this is a place to revisit.

Great, the extensive menu should serve most who like Mediterranean cuisine. Plenty of food.it feels a little dated but there is nothing wrong with that - Lovely family style feel with prompt service. Always seems full so they must be getting it right!

From the bread to the wine, from the brilliant starters (we had lobster soup and melon and ham), to the delicious home made tiramisu, we loved it all. It totally changed my idea about set menu too - so many options and all were very nicely presented and tasted amazing. Will definitely be back.

A group of 5 of us dined here last Sunday evening to celebrate a friends birthday. The restaurant staff are very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was good. The food was delicious, none of us had any complaints. Although this restaurant is an Italian one it does serve English food too, in fact overall the menu is extensive, a huge variety to choose from. The price was reasonable too, for the 5 of us for a three course dinner including service charge was £151. Well worth a visit!

Generous food portions with great services. I am looking forward to going back again!!! Massive bowls of olives, breadsticks, bread and butter we’re waiting for us on the table. My kids never usually eat when we’re out, they ate everything there, a brilliant treat for my dad-in-law who wants to return again soon.

My wife is Italian, and in my opinion Italian people have an arrogance around food, they are overly critical. My wife and her family love Tipo Grigio. Outstanding Italian Food. Properly authentic, rustic feel, maximum flavour. I am going to say that Tipo Gigio is the best Italian restaurant in a very long way. Propert Mamma and Pappa style. These restaurants are dying out.......Tipo Gigio isnt. Packed even mid week, says alot

Introduced a few friends to Topo Gigio today and we had a lovely lunch. Great food, extensive set menu, generous portions, good value and very friendly and attentive service. The only problem was choosing what to have, with so many tempting options available! My friends agreed it is a lovely restaurant and we intend to return to sample more of the menu.

Lunch time yesterday and as always a delightful couple of hours .Good value ,lots of choice ,all beautifully cooked and presented .The staff are attentive but not intrusive.Atmosphere very relaxed ,could not have enjoyed our visit ...we will be back !!

Went here with a group of friends for a birthday celebration.

we went here last Saturday, it is obviously a well known local, I think we may have been the only customers not recognised by the staff. My wife had the very good value 3-course set menu at £15; a good thick lobster soup, veal in a creamy sauce and a generous portion of profiteroles. My veal chop was delicious, a very generous and perfectly piece of meat. The accompanying vegetables were good and plentiful. My sliced oranges with grand marnier were again generous and delicious.

Just went round to the restaurant for an ad hoc lunch, it was a rare hot day and the fresh salmon and homemade egg mayonnaise was great, as were both our main courses. As usual, we were welcomed, with great service and a really full menu for a reasonably modest suburban restaurant.

The longer you spend here taking in the atmosphere the more fascinating it gets. A recurring theme is a mouse character from an Italian 60's tv show, but other curiosities from Italy are also used in the decor, including photos of people eating spaghetti inelegantly.

Great food. Great service. Great price. extensive menu with plenty to choose from for everyone. Usually plenty of parking in the layby in front of the building, or just round the corner in residential roads.

Ottima cucina emiliana nel cuore di Londra!!! Da non perdere per chi ama la buona cucina tradizionale italiana- emiliana.... Simpatico locale e simpatico il personale veloce e efficiente con la battuta sempre pronta con gli italiani che approdano a questo storico ristorante della city. Le tagliatelle alla bolognese con il ragù di carne credo siano il piatto forte dello chef. We eat out frequently and have recently had some very underwhelming experiences so we wanted to have a meal in a restaurant that we knew could be relied on to deliver. We booked Saturday night at Topo Gigio as husband wanted a decent fillet steak. That is exactly what he got, I had the best spaghetti vongole i've ever had and I've eaten many! The extras you are given are so generous and the jug of iced, fruited water that is given to every table and topped up the minute the level gets low are just some of the reasons why we come back again and again. The staff work so hard and are so efficient that the running of the place is like a well oiled machine. The restaurant was full and included several groups but this didn't effect the service or quality of food we received. As always we had an excellent meal.

Visited this restaurant yesterday and was amazed by its standard and choices of meals. As we were 'doing a recce' for a future visit with friends, we wanted to try it out. We booked for 7.pm and it was already quite busy. By 7.45 it was almost full, some couples, 2 largish parties and 2 tables of 4 were in situ. We decided to choose from the £14.95 Set Dinner Menu and were pleasantly surprised by the choices available. A huge variety catering for every possible need. There were 3 waiting staff and they were efficient and friendly. Our starters came along within 10 minutes and were very generous. 1 Melon with Parma Ham and 1 Stuffed Mushrooms. We then had our main courses, for which again, we only waited a short time. 1 Liver cooked in Sage and Butter, 1 Fish of the Day both of which came with assorted vegetables served at the table. The desserts were delicious, Oranges in Grand Marnier and the largest, most varied Fruit Salad I have ever seen. We decided to skip Coffee as we were both full. The bill, with a large glass of wine each and including 10% service came to just under £44.00 - incredible value. A word of caution to those wanting a quiet environment - it got pretty lively as time went on. We left at 8.45 when a 21st birthday party was in progress. We looked at the A la Carte menu and this was very tempting also.

I certainly didn't recognise the one I visited yesterday and the place described in the disparaging reviews.We were taken out to lunch, so that was th first bonus; by cousins who know the area but were prepared to make quite a complicated trip beause they've been there many times before-- and rate it! Quite crowded for midweek, a fair number of tables with 'ladies who lunch'. Menus and napkins already in place,fresh water, garlic bread and olives magically appeared. Three course for £11.95 -- and lots to choose from --- you can't go wrong...Glass of red wine while you ponder, olives disappearing fast. Then, for me the home-made cream of lobster soup, while chilled melon and home-made cannelloni were chosen by others. Ricotta and Spinach cannelloni; Veal Pizzaiola; cream and brandy sauced, mustard Pork Fillet-- or, for me the Calves Liver Veneziana. +++ Crunchy broccoli, tempura courgette, crispy potatoes. The calves liver was cooked well, not overdone, served with a rich wine and onion sauce. I suppose I was expecting a slice of liver, instead It was smaller pieces, obviously added last minute to the bubbling sauce and very very tasty. Amaretto trifle proved popular, as did the Cassata ice-cream while I chose a well presented slice of lemon tart. £11.95 -- = an absolute snip Thank you!

Visited the restaurant to celebrate our anniversary as it is one of our favourite restaurants and we once again had a lovely evening.The service is excellent the food it excellent. We were going to eat of the al la crate menu but the set menu has such a wide selection of great three course set meals it is difficult not to choose tfrom that.There are so many extras available on the table such as olives, bread, bread sticks,mints and it is so nice to get a jug of water without having to ask for it.It is a must to all to visit the venue but leave room for us!Can't wait to return, great,great restaurant.

Friday evening visit, great atmosphere, opted for the fillet ...fantastic !! Two other dinners came to our table to ask about its flavour and commented on the size of the steak. You have to try them fresh from Smithfield daily !!
