Tolbooth Tavern in Falkirk

Dropped in here to show my son one of my old haunts. 40 plus years since I was in here, it may have been modernised a little, but substantially unchanged. Don't miss the Tolbooth if you are in Falkirk.

Visited for a literary event! Excellent

I never had food here so I can't rate. However I was here on a Friday night and the place had a great and friendly atmosphere. The staff are great and there is a good choice of drinks. The karaoke was also a highlight.

We visited at Christmas time. The decorations were amazing the welcome and atmosphere were the same. Lovely place.

Great wee pub that's been there for donkeys. Great staff willing to engage with the customer and great pint to boot.

First time in this pub, where we were welcomed by bar lady. Premises were decorated with Halloween regalia. No loud music. Altogether a nice pleasant pub experience. No food taken.

No food now since Covid but a nice place for a drink.

I love the rustic vibes at the tavern, staff is always friendly and you can be sure to go in after a bad day but come out feeling good!

Brilliant atmosphere..lovely friendly bar person ..the music was fab . Definitely will be back . Husband said it was the best pint off Caledonian best he had in a long time ..x

Completely overshadowed by bar policy on acceptable ID. EU identity cards are within licensing laws and must be accepted or leave management exposed to allegations of racism. Perhaps management should undergo some subconscious bias training to ensure policies do not discriminate. Difficult to trust ratings on Facebook as the management remove constructive low scoring feedback.

Bar tender was racist against my polish friend. She handed over her polish identification card as proof of ID (which she has used this several times as a form of ID at high end clubs and no issue.) She was refused a drink and then told to leave. Completely out of order and discriminatory behaviour from a middle age woman.

Great wee bar, quiet enough during daytime, where the craic is great, and a busy lively crowd at Weekends for Karaoke.

Fantastic pub with a great atmosphere. Staff were friendly and efficient. Glasses were cleared away from tables regularly. Ladies toilets were immaculate with a variety of products provided. Prices were reasonable. Good sized beer garden. Definitely worth a visit.

Decent town centre pub and unlike pretentious bars they know this is a working class town. Was a bit miffed when the barmaid swiped my pint and my partners wine at last orders instead of asking if I'd care to gulp it down. I won't hold that against this fine little bar though.

Great little find in the centre of Falkirk, have to say it's a 'blokes' pub.

Went in for a quick drink before our lift home, Kareoke was just about to start wish we had made our lift later looked like it was going to be a great night. X

Not been here for sometime, but decided to try it again for a change, found the the staff to be attentive, but a little coarse, decor badly in need of a renovation, toilets similar, the place appears to have went downhill.

Went for lunch. It was 9.50 for macaroni and cheese. The portion was tiny and my friend got a hair in hers. When I complained, I was offered nothing other than abuse

Come on I payed over £11 for Fish and Chips and a soft drink could make better myself would advise people to give this place a miss chips were burnt should have checked the reviews before going in here. Get your act together and employ someone who can cook properly.

Très bonne taverne en famille, le Brave Balmoral est aussi bon que copieux :) Les burgers fait-maisons sont également très très bons. Nous nous sommes régalés. Prix raisonnables (9 à 10£ le plat). Un détail : Première fois qu’on voit des Wc femme aussi attentionnés (serviettes hygiéniques, lingettes et déodorants à disposition). Bien vu !

Absolutely relaxing, amazing place, great atmosphere, bar staff very accommodating, very friendly....wee added extas 4 the ladies in the loos which are a bonus nice wee added touch lol.

Excellent cozy pub meals, homemade and meals are dynamite. Good menu, great desserts, pub has Karaoke nights and other events, staff are pleasant and service is great. I'd recommend this as the place to go for food in Falkirk now 🤗

There was a really rude bouncer on the door who was an arrogant jobs worth on the door who wouldnt let us in. . .saying it was too busy. So we awaited until people came out thinking we would get in. No, he refuses saying still too busy . But then proceeded to let 2 "younder "girls in! Then when i quieried this. . He threatened the police on ne if i didnt move! How rude. . Absolutely no need for it at all. .

The atmosphere in the tollbooth tavern is the best in Falkirk and the clientele is brilliant.

Sexy wee bar in the middle of Falkirk. Great staff, they even sing from behind the bar in the karaoke. The lassie who runs the karaoke is an amazing singer and her patter is great. Made to feel welcome, a fantastic atmosphere all night. I'd definitely recommend coning here if you visit Falkirk. I'll definitely be back.

Had a great night thanks to the staff as they were very welcoming and so friendly. We will definitely be back soon. Next time we are going to try the food from Gluten free menu as my Husband is Celiac and looks like there is a lot to choose from.

Food was excellent. Steak pie done just right and cooked with the pastry. Service was top notch too.

Average pub in Falkirk nothing fantastic but good for a pint

This was our first visit in many many years. Lovely staff - friendly and helpful. We had lunch - the food was amazing. One of our party is coeliac - the menu was fantastic and the chef spoke with him before he ordered his food - it is always a worry when eating out if coeliac because any gluten contamination can cause a severe reaction. Gluten free choices included battered or breaded fish, steak pie, macaroni and cheese, chicken with pepper sauce - to name but a few. Chips are also cooked in a separate fryer to ensure no cross contamination. Also gluten free desserts available including rhubarb crumble. The food was delicious and the knowledge around coeliac requirements was second to none. It's well worth a visit. We will certainly return.

Great wee place to start out night. Average prices for drinks was very friendly and welcoming, bar staff were polite and very quick at serving no matter how many were waiting. Karaoke started when we were having a few quiet drinks but the mixture of music and singing added even more to the relaxed happy atmosphere. Deffo recommed if out and about in Falkirk.

Never be back prices are unreal as it shows, with the lack of punters, actually witnessed an old punted refusing to pay over priced

If you love karaoke, or just want somewhere with a lively friendly atmosphere then definitely pop in here for a drink or two. Only downside is that it is a touch on the small side so I've been turned away due to it being full.

Upstairs is really small so you can't always get a seat and being disabled it's a hard climb up narrow, winding stairs to check, so last time we visited we sat downstairs. It wasn't nearly as comfortable, it felt very much like a working man's pub and I felt hugely out of place there. The food is good and the portions are generous but I don't think I would be back unless I knew I could get a seat in the much nicer, more select area upstairs.

Stumbled upon this cosy wee pub during a stroll through Falkirk's town centre. Had their macaroni - which was pretty tasty and a good giggle with the staff and locals. Prices could have been a tiny bit less but no regrets with the food! I was surprised I hadn't heard of the place before, for sure one of Falkirk's hidden gems. They have karaoke as well as quite a lot of events through-out the year. Great place for a meal or a casual pint! Situated on Tolbooth Street. (Legend even has it the tavern is haunted!!👻) If I'm ever in Falkirk Town centre again it will be a likely destination to revisit.

Went here for lunch with my husband it was very busy when we arrived we found a table and sat down. We have been here before many times so we knew what we wanted . We ordered and waited and waited..... turns out we had to wait on them making our meals from scratch as they had ran out due to being so busy. When the meals arrived they were well worth waiting on and were delicious

Very friendly and very accommodating to families with small children. We popped in for lunch with another family and the folks that run the place were brilliant. Just what we wanted - a nice friendly spot where nothing was too much trouble. Thank you

We popped in here for lunch today and the ladies there couldn't have been more hospitable and friendly. Lunch was great, they catered for the kids and the home made soup was delicious! Great little pub, can highly recommend. Thanks ladies :)
