Toby Carvery Hinton in New Forest

Went for breakfast with my partner Total rubbish hard eggs bacon overcooked hard dripping in fat sausage over cooked dripping in fat black pudding cold chewing gum disgusting well hash browns hard cold congealed fat on them un edible.. mushrooms cold greasy , beans ok but tepid warm. Thank goodness I could cook 2 slices of toast which I did myself. Butter and marmalade. So can’t say I didn’t eat anything. Coffee. Just about ok . You’re better off spending a couple more quid and go somewhere it’s fresh and hot. That what I’m going to do . The whole breakfast dripping in oil. Put me right off. Very disappointing.. to finish it off the wall by the side of our table it falling apart got hazard tape on it smelt funny. It’s behind the toilets .. what a disgusting place felt like calling the health and hygiene at the council. Cos it needs to be 1 star as well. Finally stay away it’s a health hazard

Terrible visit. First we we were shown to a table that hadn’t been cleared . We then had long wait to put a drinks and food order in. When we went for the carvery it was tasteless. The turkey just tasted of water. Service was poor and my wife was sprayed in the face when a member of staff was putting cleaning solution away. It might be cheap but don’t expect good service or reasonable food. Very disappointing

The outside of the building was very tatty and unkept and the car park was strewn with rubbish. We were greeted by someone at the door and they were wearing a checked shirt, jeans and trainers, not what you would expect, first impressions matter. I can't fault the waitress Liz she was lovely, very friendly and efficient. We didn't have to wait at the Carvery and we had a choice of Beef, Gammon, Turkey and Lamb. I didn't have the Lamb as it was close to the end of the joint and it didn't look appetising and I didn't want to be that person to ask if another was coming out. The food was ok, not amazingly hot but you expect that at a carvery. Overall the experience was Ok but you do have to think twice about where you go to eat out as eating out has definitely become more of a treat these days.

Booked a table to be sat in front of a fire exit!!!! Cold straight coming in & wallpaper hanging off the wall! Beer was flat like always & the salt shakers are not useable….. full of condensation or just not cleaned properly!!! No friendly service just chucked in a damp wet corner. Disgusting to say the least.

Visted 23/1/24 at 12.00. The waiting staff dan was friendly and efficient. The food was great had a carvery, the chef on carvery were very friendly and greeted everyone in a friendly manner. So impressed with the place would visit again thanks guys

We have been to this Toby on many occasions and love the carvery. However, yesterday we visited and the service was indifferent at best. We had to wait 15 minutes after receiving the bill for the waitress to come to take payment. In the end we gave up and went to the main bar area to pay. The food was not up to scratch either. It was luke warm -thankfully the gravy was hot. The meat was good but vegetables were sloppy and overcooked. The middle of the roast potatoes were slightly hard. The parsnips were yummy though. It is exceptionally good value when the food is good. We did not rate it yesterday - sad as it was my Mother in Laws birthday.

Having visited this Toby several times in the last year, I have to say that the quality is always excellent. A great selection of food and a very clean restaurant always makes it a lovely experience. I have to give special thanks to Alana who was exceptional. She even offered to heat my wife’s food (she is a slow eater!)

Great food good service would recommend .friendly staff could not do enough to help. The staff all appear to love the job they are doing and are happy and cheerful.good portion of meal and the selection of veg is good something for every pallet .you have too book as fills up quick customers were turned away at the door as they could not be accommodated that just goes to show how good this restaurant is.if I could I would give 6 star

You need to sort the bar stuffs Hygiene out and uniform the bloke behind the bar stinks of BO. The lady behind the bar at frant of house with blonde hair didn't have normal uniform. Looked so bad she had emo hoodie looked Horrendous

6 of us had the Roast Dinner Mario the waiter was excellent..very quick with our drinks we had thd pigs in blankets at his suggestion why we waited for all our guest to arrive. He was very helpful and cheerful

we decided to eat at this toby as in the past the food was good so as we were on a mini break we decided to eat there again on the Sunday night the car park was a bit full but managed to find a space we went in and had a little wait for someone to come to front of house as the place was busy with large groups of people having Christmas get togethers we were shown to a table in the corner which wasn't a problem we had our drinks order taken and ordered food no problem there food was nice and the vegetarian choice was ok but i wish they would bring back the mushroom and ale pie which was very nice !! We left after eating feeling very happy we then decided to go back the next evening for dinner again the place was busy and we were shown to a table near a family of which one of there children was having a birthday dinner which was fine but then one of the children started to misbehave!!! we ordered drinks and food of which took a few minutes the place was busy with Christmas party's to it lots of noise we had a food and left i don't think we shall be returning especially at this time of the year as i don't like sitting in crowded places and the chefs serving the meat could have done with some help as there was quite a que also the vegetarian choice could do with a few more choices as not a lot on the menu

Having been disappointed 1 or 2 yrs ago at Toby we gave it a miss until a couple of days ago. Found it much improved. Friendly focussed staff. Moist well cooked meat and plenty of it. Veg fresh and well presented. Clean and tidy. Will visit again ...... oh and the apple sauce was too artificial!

Good food made all the more enjoyable by our waiter Mario who on his own makes us want to come again. Using the app makes it easy to book.

Here on a long weekend holiday and was able to walk to this carvery. Booked online and seated quickly. I ordered a broccoli and Brie pie and the lovely waitress (Alana) let me know when it was ready. All food was piping hot and plenty of veg. Desert to die for. Left very very full, great food and service. Glad for the short walk back tot the hotel to walk some of the food off. One small thing restaurant was super hot!

Despite arriving after the restaurant had being mobbed earlier and being short staffed the staff were still friendly and welcoming.The carvery meat a little over cooked and veg not as hot as we would have liked but we still really enjoyed our dinner.I think the poor chefs were having a break and so the veg and potatoes had not been changed over and checked for temp.But any interaction we did have with the small team we found them attentive and helpful.Still great value for money and we will be back.

Enjoyed breakfast with the family today at Toby Carvery Hinton. First for quite a while. However, you've got to bring the gravy back! I was not the only one looking for it and looking forward to it. It makes you unique - who else does Yorkshire's and gravy as a side for breakfast? Its the difference between a monthly visit and once a year.

First night of our holiday we stopped at Toby Carvery in Christchurch. Food was amazing, eyes definitely bigger than our stomachs!!!Staff were friendly. Great family place. Lovely and clean too.Gin selection was second to none....well that's part of the holiday!!

Might be best to book as it was very busy and it was a weekday. . We managed to get in by paying up front and sitting in the bar area . Even that was full by about 1 . Bit of a queue for carvery food but all nice and hot and was tasty. Staff friendly and came to check everything was ok. Had hand sanitiser there but not everyone uses it so used my own after using the communal spoons etc to get food. Website says open for breakfast but a lot of themactually are not due to staffing issues, or may only be on certain days now as this one is. It can be disappointing to get there to find a note on the door and no lights on.

We had an excellent lunch at the Toby Inn, I would highly recommend this establishment for both food and drinks.

Very disappointed on a visit today to find no precautions by staff against spreading Covid. Customers also not expected to wear masks whilst moving around the restuarant. Having read the webpage we expected precautions which were indicated on the page as being taken. Our waitress told us staff are not expected to wear masks. Find this alarming having looked at the website and gained a view precautions were being taken, clearly precautions were being ignored. Will not go back there again, Stewarts garden centre across the road expect customers to be masked and staff were masked- much safer place to go.

Excellent food with new additions to the vegetable selection. Very tasty and great service. Ample car parking space, very clean inside and out.

Excellent evening, lots of family met for a birthday. We were a large party (20 plus) and perfectly accommodated by the staff. Particular shout out to "Super" Mario who waited (patiently) on us all evening. Food was great, atmosphere was perfect. We even got a song for the birthday boy! would highly recommend.

My friend and I had not eaten here for several months and were looking forward o a nice roast dinner on a miserable weather day, Instead we were confronted with a stone cold meal served on cold plates. The staff took our plates away, presumably to be warmed up in the microwave, but this is not what we were expecting or anywhere good enough. On the plus side the portions of meat were generous and we were able to serve ourselves with vegetables again which was good - if only those vegetables had been even warm!

Had the loveliest meal tonight for mums birthday!! The waiter Mario here is the best waiter I’ve ever been served by. So very helpful, polite, funny and attentive. Great with the kids and even gave my mum a little treat….singing happy birthday to her.

We move to the area this week and as Toby Carvery is less than 5 minutes drive, we thought we would try it. Must say this is the best Toby Carvery we have been to. The food was excellent and good variety, But what really made the evening, was the service from a staff member "Super Mario". He was excellent! It's refreshing to see someone enjoying being busy in their job of serving others. There were a family of seven celebration one of the kid's birthday. Mario was brilliant in how he entertained the kids. The other staff were also helpful, but hats off to "Super Mario".

We were visiting close by, so booked a table for lunch. Good job, as they were very busy. The restaurant was decorated nicely for Christmas & looked great. The service & food were both excellent. All the food was hot with a good size portion of meat. Now serving with Mac cheese. We had a discount voucher, so the meal was even better VFM than normal. Happy to recommend & will be visiting here again.

From the outside, it’s the same old Toby. on the inside, it’s the same old Toby. But it’s not the same. From being the best carvery chain around, with superb value for money, it’s now a much more general purpose offering than before. It may still be the home of the roast, and that’s as good (and as cheap) as it ever was, but now there are takeaways too. And the menu has been lengthened and broadened to include fish dishes, vegetarian and vegan options, and even a veggie carvery. Not to mention wraps, sandwiches, super starters and desserts and even an all-you-can-eat breakfast. The welcome and service were excellent and the prices were terrific, especially the Coopers South African house wines. Our only gripes were that there was only one type of gravy and the sauces were not labelled, so my wife drowned my turkey and ham in horseradish thinking it was bread sauce! We had not been to this Toby before, but the two nearer to our home were showing as fully booked for most of that Monday evening. I’m wondering if they were enduring the same staff shortages as the rest of their industry? Anyway, we were well pleased here and will be back to sample more of these inviting menu choices.

Absolutely shocking quality food! Would never eat from here again when asked to speak to the manager on the phone the phone was put down on me and they wouldn’t pick back up, the food wasn’t even edible it’s all gone in the biN this was meant to be a treat for my nan and grandad and they have gone home hungry! Massive waste of money! Very annoyed with the customer service! SHOCKING

A very pleasant restaurant just outside Christchurch in Dorset. Smart tidy and clean establishment with plenty of parking available. Excellent choice of carvery meats and vegetables and vegetarian options are available. Will certainly visit again and can highly recommend this restuarant.

This was our second visit in two days, because the first was so good! We were served by the wonderful ‘Super Mario’, who was brilliant with our disabled son and very attentive to our every need. Turned up for a meal to be told it’s booking only cause a sign is on the door, turned away elderly people in a wheelchair, not good advertising for people that drive half hour to an hour to be told that because that’s what he decided he wants to do, very unprofessional and rude

Really loving being able to serve yourself again, lovely selection of veg/potatoes and lucky enough to have first slices of a fresh turkey and gammon! A bonus to have lovely Mario as our waiter always so happy and friendly a real credit to Toby Carvey

Wonderful meal out with my dads and brothers, we all felt very looked after by our waiter “Super Mario”. What a friendly guy! He gave my brothers toys after the meal and they’ve both said it made their days!! Mario was super friendly and efficient, will come back just for the amazing service!

Great carvery meat and veg excellent for a chain, Mario the waiter topman, even gave the kids a present after are meal. My eldest son 10 said Mario made his day even without the toy. He even made my eldest daughter lucy smile which is a challenge

First Sunday roast here since lockdown and it was great. Tables timed well so not overcrowded and easy to get served. Plus very attentive, friendly service from Mario—-enjoyable family meal!

A lovely place to eat on the edge of the new forest. Good quality food, the carvery is well presented and maintained. A special mention for Mario, our server. He entertained our child and made us feel extremely welcome. Would highly recommend and we are looking forward to visiting again.

Great place for a roast!! - Table seating was fine, servers were great. Food very yummy. If you have a blue light card make sure to download & printscreen your card via the Blue Light APP! They cant accept the hard plastic cards, they must see a QR code. Signal is also very bad round there so i reccomend doing this before going! :) Obviously do this to get a discount!! :)

Myself, husband and 2 children visited today, early evening and I had to write about about this little gem.Although part of a large chain, this pub/restaurant still felt like a homely comfortable place. The food was excellent and the service was utterly outstanding! We had the best server we have ever met. Mario aka Super Mario was incredibly attentive without being intrusive. He immediately won over our girls (no easy task, our eldest being naturally shy and youngest a monster) Mario went above and beyond to make our visit and those around us a great one. We took my 89 year old Auntie here for her lunch. They were brilliant, the waiter was very helpful and friendly. My Auntie and myself had a carvery my husband had a sandwich. The food was excellent, all fresh veg and the meat was cooked to perfection. The restaurant was clean, warm and very comfortable. Our table was just in a perfect position for me as I'm in a wheelchair. The disabled access toilet was easy to access. We had a lovely lunch in very pleasant surroundings. Hopefully we will return again next year.

This is the first time I have been to this Toby carvery and I was surprised at what good value it is. Two of us both had the roast carvery, I had pork and the person I was with had turkey. We both had drinks (one coke and one glass of white wine) and being a carvery where you help yourself to vegetables, there was plenty to eat. The total cost was £30 so very good value.
