Toby Carvery Aigburgh in Liverpool

We visited to try the traditional Sundays Roast, Everything was fabulous except the Gamon, which was too salty. The Toby's gravy was really tasty. The amount off the regular size plate is enough, but you can enlarge your portion for a couple of pounds.

Nikki has really made my evening. She's been super attentive, helpful and with a good sense of humour. She made sure everything was okay and we enjoyed her company. The Chinese chef in the carvery section was also very nice as well. Food is great, particularly the roast beef. Also had a honeycomb sundae pudding which ended the meal on a good note. Lovely atmosphere and lovely staff overall. ❤️

We went last Sunday, the 7th of April as a family of 3, my husband, myself, and our toddler age 2.5. This was the first time we went to a Toby. Unfortunately, the experience was upsetting. Though the lady at the reception welcomed us with a smile and showed us our table. However, the lady who took our order didn't bother to make eye contact or had a smile. She just was in so much hurry to move away from us. We felt awkward and out of place and so unwelcomed . For some reason, it seemed the two ladies who took orders didn't want us there and were least bothered to ask if we needed anything. We have been to numerous restaurants and never have we felt unwelcomed. Also after we finished our food, we waited for the ladies to get us the bill and they walked past us many times completely ignoring us. While they were all giggles with another family. My husband had to go to the server lady and ask for the bill and she just noded her head and got us the bill which was around 41 quid and just left. I would give a zero for hospitality and it was sad that they made us feel that way. The food was fine to be honest. But I think Toby Aigburth needs better staff who consider all humans as equal and make them feel welcomed.

Awful cuts of meat , undercooked potatoes that tasted like rocks.

Reservation was easy to do on-line Warm welcome by staff and choice of table Order taken swiftly for drinks Carvery - excellent choice (of meats, vegetables and accompaniments). Only thing this time was that the spoons on some of the vegetables were too hot to handle Deserts - excellent Value for money - good

Totally over booked for mothers day had ther worst experiamce ever to be then place on bar stools with small children to eat are food

HI today I attended Toby Carvery Aigburth located in Liverpool with my husband and our 2 children. My son who is a 4 year old neurodivergent -autistic boy has an stricted diet and sensory difficulties regarding food,therefore whenever we go to a restaurant we make sure to pack a pot of plain rice as it is his "safe food". Today, when the waitress approached us and realised he was having homemade rice and their veggie bowl, she said: you know you cannot bring your own food in here? We explained to her we NEEDED to do that due to our son's special needs to which she replied "it was their norms and she would get told off by her manager if my son insisted on eating rice. We actually went to Tobys for a treat as it has been difficult nights for my child and us. I asked to please talk to the manager. She introduced herself and again we got a big NO. I asked how were we putting safety in danger at the restaurant by bringing plain basmati rice. I even said it is just for my boy's needs, it is not like we have brought a picnic with us and make use of their space or service. I asked straight: can't you accomodate my autistic son then? She replied: no. I am beyond disgusted and frustrated. We were made to feel so humilliated and discriminated against. Wasn't autism awareness/acceptance day yesterday? Maybe it is time to include in your company culture some empathy to disabled people and their families. What a shame

Love the carvery but disappointed as been looking forward to having lamb and they had run out and said it would be another 4 hours. Otherwise everything else was great. My son had booked for a table at 6 but we weren't able to sit down till 6.30 . Very busy, staff were friendly and polite.

Gave a two star for atmosphere because the woman running the place is very rude but the two gentlemen that work behind bar are so friendly and pleasant

Me, my son, partner & sister came here for our tea and was served by a lovely lady called Nikki, she was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met, she had us in stitches with her brilliant personality. If only everyone would be like her she is fabulous!! We love coming to this Carvery as it never fails to disappoint! The food is always spot on every time and always happy when we leave. The staff are all very nice happy people. We don’t live close to here but always happy to travel as most carvery’s are always hit and miss but Aigburth branch is always spot on every time and has the best service and staff!! Thank you! X

Plates, disgusting, slow service arrogant female staff member got full refund on breakfast definitely would not come here I am presuming by your statement that you are the one that was sat on the computer as a member of staff I expected you to answer the question. I’m not come up with a comment suggesting our rude I was a franchise and as an employee I would’ve expected that You would’ve helped a customer not reply that I am rude for this disturbing you if you wanted privacy you should’ve sat somewhere else and presuming you were getting paid to sit there doing whatever it was on the laptop. You should’ve removed yourself from the situation, if you did not want to be disturbed or assisted me there was no eggs there was no bread there was no sugar and there was no staff to ask. That is why I asked you you are a rude elegant person who is definitely in the wrong job. The gentleman that was sat next to me said that you were rude as well , in so many words when I was discussing how disgusted I was with you to my friend they overhead and give their input of how ill mannered you were

Went here for breakfast on a Saturday, and found the chef at the food station to be non responsive when I spoke to him. And just looked at me - I did not know what I did wrong but I won't visit again

The so called gravy was bland and more like a coloured water, it ruined the whole dinner. I am a regular at this branch and never seen anything so bad.

Terrible… beans ran out, white bread ran out, red sauce hadn’t been topped up, butter hadnt been topped up, black pudding hadn’t been topped up, plates, cups and glasses were all dirty, “hash browns” were just a massive pile of of mush. Staff were friendly, the restaurant and toilets were clean. Won’t be going back.

I went to the pub formerly known as The Kingsman with a friend who had an unshakable hankering for a carvery dinner. I'd heard that carveries were popular over the other side of the water & so wasn't surprised to hear on arrival that there was a 40 minute wait to get a table! The place was rammed, but I found a table set for diners to use so sat down, only to be shooed away by the Maitre D' seconds later, who told me the table was reserved even though there was nothing on the table to indicate this. So in the absence of anywhere to sit & bide our time we drifted around as best we could, & soon the time had passed. Ropes cordoned off those queuing to get served into three lines, adding to the anticipation of what lovely food awaited. You could've probably set sail in one of the Yorkshire puddings, such was their enormity! A top tip would be to use yours as an impromptu gravy boat to convey a decent measure of the good stuff back to your table! Even with a large plate it was tough to fit some of each of the veggies on offer on, which included beef dripping roast potatoes, creamy mashed potato, cauliflower in cheese sauce, mashed swede, green & red cabbage, carrots, peas, & of course stuffing. Of the turkey, gammon, lamb, beef & pork on offer as meats I chose the gammon & beef. Everything was really good, but if I were to nit-pick the cheddar cheese sauce was a bit underpowered for me, & the roasties not crisp as I'd have liked them, but these are minor quibbles at best. So all in all well worth the very long wait! My friend couldn't finish most of her meal so asked for a takeaway tray - the lad serving returned with two minute trays. Sadly, as she bitterly remarked, she'd not have been able to even fit her Yorkshire pudding in one, & that was after eating a bit of it! After a good bit of umming & ahhing, with her saying she'd pay for a usable-sized takeaway tray if need be he finally returned with one of them, which worked a treat. So all in all great food, & really good value, but it's a victim of its own success, so if you fancy a carvery dinner on a Sunday afternoon, the saying 'All good things come to he or she who waits' should be uppermost in your mind!

Was passing and just called in found us a table and the service was very good from our server Ayesha and the foor was served and presented well by Matt. And was cooked to perfection. Very good friendly atmosphere and staff were very happy to help customers. Would recommend

Best carvery I’ve had! Meats were delicious and staff were fab. Sat as soon as we arrived, even though we were early for our booking. 100% be back 😀.

We were looked after by a waitress called Nicki who was a lovely lady. She interacted well with all her customers and had really good friendly banter. She was relaxed and confident.

We've been to Toby's a few times and service has never been great, which we don't normally mind. However, this last time, the person serving the meat was extremely rude and abrupt, he came out from the kitchen rushing and clearly unhappy, gave my husband a few slices poorly cut of meat and went back to the kitchen as if he did us a massive favour. My husband informed the lady who was serving us the drinks but did not want to speak to the manager as it had already spoiled his lunch. Food was good, although I thought the potatoes were a bit dry. Gravy was very nice. The restaurant itself is beautiful and good for family reunions. I don't think we would be back due to our last experience, however it's a good option if you like roast dinner and are lucky to not be served by someone who is clearly unhappy about his job.

This is a great place for a carvery. The meat was very good, as were the sides. The gravy was also great. Will definitely go back.

Went on a whim as didn’t want to cook , place was heaving on a Sunday evening and it must be a struggle to churn out quality , well cooked food in such quantities and therein lies the problem. My wife was acutely ill immediately after returning home from the Sunday roast . She said the bottom of the roast pudding tasted uncooked . I have no doubt her illness was as a result of the food she ate here . *just to point out this is no criticism of any of the staff. Service was good and professional

Fabulous food and customer service first class. Staff member George was a star and couldn't do enough for us.

Staying at the Travelodge next door and saw that Toby did a carvery so asked if we could do a takeaway, no problem. No cutlery to take away though so unsure how you're meant to eat it. Food was nice. Service was good.

We enjoyed our meal. Restaurant was very nice and friendly staff members. This was a valentines day meal and we both enjoyed our experience. From entering the Restaurant we didn't have to wait long to be served & seated. Meal was very well cooked and drinks came very quickly

1st time I have been to this restaurant and I can’t wait to go back! The food was beautiful and the caver who served us was so nice when I requested some of the fatty bits off the meat (I love fatty meats lol) he made sure I would have on plate what I would enjoy big thank you to Andy and our server was Wendy and she also went above and beyond to make us enjoy our evening…thank you for a lovely evening and I would definitely recommend this restaurant! Well done to all the team 👍🏽

Probably one of the worst Toby carvery experiences I've had in my life, the queue for the carvery was a good 20-30 minute wait to be seen too, as it seemed to be they where prioritizing "Just eat" orders before paying customers. I felt really sorry for the carver who was sorting out the meats as he was trying to juggle between paying customers and bowls being left to the side of him for the deliverys. The poor guy was getting no help. When we began to order our food whatever our children was wanting, the waiter was saying "we've ran out of that" which was the Mac n cheese, which was also apart of the carvery option too. Then apparently there was an hour wait for the Yorkshire pudding wrap, and that there was no chicken nuggets in either. Baring in mind this was around 4/5 o'clock now. This was the first time we have been to this Toby Carvery, and probably our last. We'll stick closer to home next time.

This is something that I don't and can't get at home in the Netherlands. Guzel guts as I am I got the extra, it's a bigger plate and you get all the meat 😎. Traditional English roast with all the trimmings. The meat is cut for you👨🏻‍🍳, but you can help yourself to the rest 🤪🤪. Great for a family or with friends.

One of the nicest Carvery’s we’ve had in a long time went with my friend Jill Service excellent by Wendy quite funny cheered us very polite too Was busy but not noisy lovely and warm with the log fire nice for a few drinks and catch up this is our catch up place from now on

I went to this carvery between Christmas and New Year. Granted, you cannot expect a normal service during that time. I can say that the meat, and I had a piece of all four meats on offer, was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked but the veg had been under the light a long time and had little or no moisture. The service was excellent and the chef was hilarious as he served us whilst carving the meat. We were two adults and two children and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience.

Came for a carvery on a Saturday evening. It's a nice pub and the choice of 5 meats was a pleasant surprise. But the highlight was our server, Carol, who was very pleasant and helpful. Also, Andy on the carving station caught a fork mid-fall which was VERY impressive and gathered a round of applause from the queue.

I very much enjoyed my meal, the meat was tasty and tender and the beef dripping roast potatoes were to die for. The chef that served us our carvery mentioned they were understaffed on the day and he did magnificent to make us feel comfortable and provide excellent service. Overall, I would come back to this Toby Carvery for great reliable food and even better vibes. Our only negative from our experience was that we payed for refillable drinks and the drink machine frankly wasn’t up to scratch because the drinks came out watery and a little bit flat. It felt we were eating left overs from Christmas. It was cold has well Very disappointed.

Breakfast with Santa was amazing! The staff were friendly and super helpful. Santa Claus was brilliant. One of the children in our group has ASD and Santa was so patient, and even signed using Makaton to help him feel more comfortable. Overall, fantastic and we'll be back next year.

The same every time we go never any complaints today was my Birthday breakfast with family.

We came for a Christmas lunch, the staff where incredible, very pleasant, helpful and all round excellent, I had lamb for my lunch it was very fatty and chewy so I never ate any of it, there was not much variety at all for £60 per head, it was very basic, my daughter left hers also, It definitely wasn't value for money I'm sorry I wouldn't book again for Christmas day, maybe just as a carvery 😞😞

I went there for Christmas dinner today with my girlfriend and it’s my first time going out for Christmas dinner and not at home so I didn’t know what it would be like. Can honestly say the food was absolutely wonderful, the carvery was different from usual and was much nicer, only thing letting the food down very slightly was the veg soup starter was slightly unusual and the mash potato was slightly colder then everything else there but honestly, everything else was brilliant. The deserts were very nice as well but couldn’t finish it all because I ate too much. Service was excellent, food come out to us exactly when we wanted it without asking, and the drinks weren’t any more expensive than usual which is always a bonus on Christmas, the atmosphere was great but long queues for the carvery (we were first up so didn’t apply to us), and a blatant unhappy woman who complains for fun was near us but we just found it funny laughing at her. Bit on the expensive side but great food, great service, couldn’t have asked for any more.

Go to a different Toby this one has a rude chef who when asked if we could have some butter for our toast we was told hang on I'm frying eggs in a oh whatever tone !!

Undercooked sausage, overcooked leather-like bacon, dried out scrambled egg, shriveled fried eggs, congealed looking potato and bacon (?), thick skinned attempt at gravy and horrible mushrooms. Tea station was digusting, nowhere to put dirty teaspoons and warm milk. Serving utensils left under heat lamps, burning hot. Hands stuck to the bar when we paid 😷

Attentive staff, carvery was lovely and hot and veg was cooked perfectly. Yorkshire puds were huge. Would recommend.

The food is tastier at this carvery and we travelled to get there. Food was very tasty and the yorkshire pudding was adored by my son.

Another wonderful experience at Toby carvery aigburth. Euan looked after us and was fantastic. With that level of service he should change his name to Roger Federer! Best turkey I’ve had since I last played Wii sports bowling. Refillable Pepsi max was like drinking from the fountain of youth. Tremendous
