Toby Carvery in Crawley

Good food, the meats were hot and tasty, lots of veg including very nice cauliflower cheese and a selection of potatoes all served with a large Yorkshire pudding. Helpful friendly staff. I will be back.

Waitress couldn't care less, seemed to be an inconvenience to serve us, had to chase for drinks. carvery- very dry looking, looked like it had been sat there for hours. I asked 3 different people to top up the condiments - no one bothered. Ate a tasteless bland plate of "food" didn't bother with desert. Paid bill and left. Won't be returning.

Cannot fault the carvery other than being a bit cold but you expect that. Our server was pleasant but not only did she ID my 26 year old boyfriend and refuse him a drink…… she changed a bin, didn’t wash her hands then handled food and drinks. a proper health hazard.

Came here for lunch and the whole experience was disgraceful. Firstly, my group were running five minutes late so I decided to ring up and tell them, I rang twice and no one answered. Once we arrived, we were met by a very cold and rude greeter, we were not given glasses and had to ask for them ourselves. When it come to the food, I had turkey and my turkey was raw (The amount I did eat was also very cold and very slimy). I told the waitress and she responded by saying that 'it was impossible' that my food was raw, but it was pink and it looked very fleshy. She then proceeded to show the chef but left my plate with me, I then told another waitress who was very kind and apologetic, she told me that I didn't have to pay. The original waitress (I think her name was Vilma) told me that the chef said my turkey was cooked but how would he know if my plate was still in front of me. She was consistently rude, dismissing and intimidating, which made me feel very uncomfortable. Out of the 3 staff members l interacted with 2 were very unfriendly and to be honest just very rude. I do not recommend this restaurant at all - avoid at all costs!!!!

I pre-booked a table for an early lunch to celebrate my sister's 70th birthday today. On arrival the lady at the main entrance did not seem to know about my booking. Once seated, we went to the Carvery to get our lunch, there was no queue so we were served quickly. Unfortunately, our meal was barely warm which was very disappointing because we have enjoyed many excellent meals here before. The server did eventually ask us if everything was alright & we said it was a pity the meal was not hotter, even the gravy was only lukewarm, she did offer to microw & efficient the heating lamps are at the Carvery, but our meal today would have been so much nicer had it been hotter.

Called in for breakfast, good choice on menu, and all you can eat great value and tasty, really enjoyed our breakfast, would go again

I booked a table for me and my husband for the roast dinner. The meal was great for the value and the waitress was very friendly. There was one problem which I didn't approve of. When we finished our meal and settled the bill we went to sit somewhere else but no we wasn't aloud. A male member of staff asked if we were eating and I said no as we all ready had. He replied im sorry but you cant sit there. I was shocked. He was the one who showed us to our table. 😆So we were told to move else where. So we sat near the entrance door. I thought you could sit anywhere outside the restaurant area. Obviously NOT! We won't be visiting again as we got told to move!! 🤬😡

A great roast dinner carvery. A good choice of meats and vegetable all cooked perfectly and served with a good choice of relevant condiments. Desserts were also fantastic.

Thank u to your wonderful staff. The moment we walked in we were made welcome. I've been twice this month once 4 dinner once 4 breakfast. Breakfast Help yourself. Let me tell u some places get this very wrong , but not here. Tge food was delicious the sausages were gd tasty and well cooked. The entire breakfast wowed me. The staff were so helpful as I've never done breakfast with u guys but we will make it our regular now. Couldn't fault it perfect. We have visited today for a Sunday roast the restaurant was super busy. Our waitress ANCA was rushed of her feet. She took her time with us and tried her best to make our evening special. (She made some time for a joke as well) Overall the evening was relaxing and the food outstanding.

Sunday roast is the best. We been served by Anca who was absolutely outstanding. Very friendly, checking all the time on us even if she was busy. Overall great costumer service and food.

Another dismal experience at this establishment. Walked out of here a year ago due to poor customer service and it seems standards haven't changed. Upon arrival shown to a table and given 1 menu between 3 of us...and the menu had food remains on it. Waitress came and took our order......seemed very robotic in her manner. At the carvery food, meat was just plonked onto the plate and the staff seemed disinterested. Can't see us returning to this Toby in the near future

I was having dinner yesterday in this restaurant, wanting to eat a good roast beef, since I had been in others of the same franchise having a very good experience regarding the service and food. However, I did not have the same luck yesterday and I was truly disappointed. Make the reservation through the app. Upon arriving and giving my name, the reservation was not found by a rather uninformed waitress. The maitre d' or manager in the same way. Zero friendliness, and with a practically empty restaurant room, he offered me a table in another secluded and noisy place. Just without having almost sat down at the table, or having read the letter. The waiters asking if he knew what he was going to drink. Giving the impression of being in a hurry. Then I go to the buffet, the chef's attention is lousy. I asked for a little more beef because I don't like turkey. and very reluctantly he served me a small portion, as if he was not paying for the food. Which was also totally cold, whole and tasteless. I will not return to this Toby restaurant, nor will I recommend it.

Cristina was the rudest waitress I have ever experienced! She made me and my friend feel very unwelcome and scared to ask for anything due to her abrupt, sarcastic replies such as ‘YES’ ‘WHAT’ and ‘FINE’ When I first got shown to my table my bum barley grazed the chair to sit down and then I was greeted with ‘What do you want to drink’ No ‘hello my name is Cristina , welcome I know you guys have JUST sat down but are you ready to order some drinks.’ Instead I kindly told her that I just sat down. I needed a few minutes. She replied with ‘people normally know straight away’ as if to imply I am abnormal. Then throughout my visit she was being rude to others and said to one customer as she was taking payment ‘if you DON’T want to tip me you need to press the green button twice’ Unsurprisingly they didn’t. When doing a check back on us to see if the food was okay, she didn’t even give me a chance to say the ‘food as great,However the syrup in the refillable station had run out’ she just simply walked away. She is a real discredit to Toby carvery and maybe going forward she should adjust her attitude towards the hospitality industry as she was not very hospitable! Food was great as always just let down but Cristina and maybe management should review her outlook going forward.

Oh dear! The first point noted was that the price had increased, but everything has so ok accepted that. BUT the portion of meat was the smallest, thinnest, measly little amount ever. Considering the restaurant was virtually empty, more staff than customers and these massive joints of meat were just sitting there I could see no reason for such a stingy serving of meat. What was worse was that when we ate the meat it was SO dry and tasteless. I am assuming the plates are hot because the food is luke warm and was very quickly cold. Wish we had gone somewhere else. They were even out of stock of all of our first choice drinks. The only reason I have given them two points is because staff were pleasant.

I recommend the breakfast over the main lunch and dinner. You don't get much for your money. The meat is very sparce. Toilet checks are not being done. Vomit and blocked toilets galore. I don't recommend toby carvery crawley.

Toby is known for his great food. It is always Fred’s and having the unlimited sides make it really good. Never left hungry. The building is a listing building with a great atmosphere. Free parking and just few minutes from Gatwick airport.

Popped in as we were passing from a trip to the garden centre...Good welcome, shown to a quiet, comfortable table, in the barn area, with interesting exposed beams..drinks order was quickly taken, and the ''Toby'' formula explained to us by a very charming team member,''Saja''.This was my first visit, so it is a ''go and look what they have, and ask the chef for what you would like''...a very good selection of freshly roasted and prepared joints,Turkey, gammon,beef and pork were on offer the day we went, with an enormous Yorkshire pudding....moving along to the help your self to veg section, included potatoes cooked in a variety of ways, and haricot verts ,peas,carrots cauliflower cheese,a veggie bake, and mac cheese.and stuffing...all piping hot.A vast selection of gravies and relishes also available....so if you are after a ''Sunday'' roast, and all of you want a different roast, this is definitely a good idea.Sadly, it seems some people overestimate their capacity, and it was disappointing to see so much food thrown away.The menus, were well used, and some should have been thrown away long ago.The decor is very tired, and some of the seat coverings beyond repair,but, as a good value family friendly restaurant, with a good car park that fills tummies, then it is a winning formula.The tired look clearly is the result of a very popular and frequently used restaurant, but then the materials chosen should be more hardwearing, or regularly checked for wear and damage.I would like to return, after it has been redecorated, and enjoy another meal there.
