Absolutely love this place!! Amazing food, great range of drinks and fabulous cakes. Staff are amazing and so helpful.

The people that run the place are really kind-hearted and sweet and the food and drinks they offer shouldn't get missed!

We have been regular customers of this cafe for years. My teen is a big fan of their bubble tea and i like their noddles. A hidden gem in Newbury. Highly recommended.

The service is amazing, the food is brilliant and the Bubble Tea is to die for. You get great value for your money and the two lovely people that run the place are very kind and friendly.

I eat here or get takeout every time I am in Newbury, the food is absolutely fantastic and the couple that run it are wonderful people. The noodle soups are delicious and the tea is great too, it is an absolute gem!

Since arriving on Earth I have been sampling the so called "noodles" at a variety of locations across this planets seven continents. The noodles at this establishment - just off of the main high street in Newbury, European continent - really tickled my taste buds and gave me a little tingling sensation all over. They might just be the best noodles on Earth, although I must add that I am yet to visit Antarctica. I think I have discovered the ultimate dish to return to my star system with. The drink known as "tea" is also good here, it comes with funny little balls in it.

Stopped by this little hole in the wall place located just off the High Street. I had a great Tom Yum soup; full of fresh prawns, chicken and salmon. Tasted absolutely great and fresh. Lovely service from the owners. Highly recommended!

I was really craving some noodles and this place fulfilled that craving! The food tasted so fresh, and was soo delicious! the people running it are really welcoming and friendly! Will definitely be returning!

I’m a foodie and travelled the world. Newbury wake up cause you have authentic asian cuisine in your town centre! All freshly homemade by this delightful asian couple. It’s a Specialty Tea shop but with gorgeous Noodle soups, steamed dumplings or various flavoured noodles. Bloggers come here it’s small with only a few tables but because this is completely authentic and homemade this is a total gem. Enjoy..

Popped in for a quick bite for lunch and I’m so glad I did. Beautiful pork dumpling soup - fresh and very tasty! Loved it. The couple were welcoming, friendly, nice people. I bought the children’s book the owner, Tze, has authored for my girls. We read it together tonight and we all thoroughly enjoyed it - an adorable story. Hope to be back soon. Next time I will bring my family.

Cosy establishment at the moment as part is blocked off presumably because of covid. Only two tables inside. The prawn gyoza and Laksa were fresh and tasty, but I thought they lacked the depth of flavour of the one's I have had in Malaysia and London. Not an intimate venue or worth travelling miles for. But if you're in the area and fancy a change then give it a go.

It's not a fancy restaurant or a cafe, but trust me, the food is amazing, affordable too so if you want authentic noodle soup, you must come here.

The most delicious prawns gyoza and tossed noodles. We order takeout almost every week here now, and it’s consistently so so good. Today, we ordered for something on the menu that was not available, and because it was not available the owners gave us some super delicious dim sum they had made for lunch for themselves!!! The best we have tried so far!

Wow! Absolutely delicious! We popped in for the first time for a takeaway and are kicking ourselves that we have not tried TIY sooner. The noodle soups are delicious fully of vegetable, meats seafood and egg. Portions are huge. We started with the prawn dumplings which came with a very tasty dipping sauce. I had the Malaysian laksa and my wife the tai Tom yum. Both were superb. Will certainly be a very regular customer in future!

On a cols drizzly day you can't beat one of Tiy Tea's soups - the laksa is my favorite choice - hot, spicy and full of wonderful ingredients - every spoonful is a treat!

Awesome udon noodle ramen with pork dumplings!! So thrilled to find this treasure of a place to enjoy authentic well made food. I would highly recommend this for a lunch which is heartwarming for the soul. Delicious

Been here a few times for lunch, and everytime has been perfect. A quiet place to relax and enjoy some wonderful food.Especially in the cold winter months, what better way to warm up than with a bowl of noodle soup. Will be back again and again for sure.

Me and my other half visited Tiy today and both had a black tea with milk and tapioca pearls. It was just what we needed on a hot day. Lovely tasty tea with a couple of outdoor tables to sit and watch the world go by. Our first visit, but we will definitely be here again, hopefully to try ALL the teas!

After seeing a post yesterday about tyi restaurant not wanting to use plastics for takeaway it seemed like a great place to visit as I agree we should be cutting down on the use of these and think people should make time for a sit down meal. After reading some reviews thought I would try it for myself. Both of us ordered the vegetable dumplings and rice noodles - we were asked if we had any allergies so they could check it was suitable. Both of the owners were very friendly and chatty and the food was very high quality and tasty. It would have been rude not to try a cake for afters (even though pretty full from meal) I had brownie and other half had tiffing, again very mourish and good value for money. Will be revisiting, only regret is that I didn’t know about this place sooner!!!

We found the Tiy Bar by accident and have been wondering how we did not find it earlier. We had Laska Noodles and tea. The soup was gorgeous, plenty of noodles and various meats very fresh and I dare to say it's one of the better Laskas I've have. Tze and Kevin were very welcoming and I will definitely be back with more of the family. Thank you for a wonderful lunch.

This is my favourite place to eat in Newbury, (probably anywhere actually) so friendly, very yummy comforting food and lovely tea. Such a great place I love it! I've been going for ages but always forgot to write a review :)

We felt like some noodles and found this place. When we arrived, they were closing soon so didn't have to serve us but they stayed open for us so we could have a meal there which I am very thankful for as we drove to Newbury from Reading to try this place and would have been disappointed if we were turned away, although it was our fault for not checking the closing time and turning up shortly before their closing time but they stayed open for us which was nice.The owner didn't know that we had travelled in but still served us so this was a great start and straight away I have to give them 5* for service. Additionally, they were very patient while we decided what we wanted (I'm quite indecisive) so this was very nice of them too. The food was good and was a fair price and the bubble tea was good too which I had with grass jelly.Overall, I enjoyed my meal here and was particularly impressed with the good service. I would highly recommend this place and would like to thank the owners for their kindness and hospitality.

Great little place for lunch, I've only had the the noodle soups there and can vouch for their quality, it is amazing. They are great, made with care and attention, real homemade food that although can take a little while to be prepared, is worth the wait. Have visited several times and will again. Highly recommended.

We were Visiting Newbury and saw the good reviews on TripAdvisor. We weren't disappointed we both chose noodle soups from a good selection on the menu. Lots of tea to choose from too, we had Jasmine. We shared an excellent pudding to finish. The service was exceedingly friendly. Although we don't live in Newbury we plan to visit again in the summer to sit outside next the canal.

Amazing little place, great food & fantastic tea ! The soup is to die for and a great range of homemade cakes ( recipes available ‘dragonmama’) Go in regularly, sometimes for lunch or sometimes for a pot of tea, it’s always difficult to resist cakes though, followed recipe & successfully made a chiffon cake at home

I love everything about this place, the food, the tea and the hosts. I visit this place when I am happy/ hungry/ sad, and I always feel better after. Food is all homemade, and I just love places like this much more than chain restaurants. This place is definitely worth a try at least!

Out walking the canal with three old friends when at lunchtime we stumbled on Tiy. We have eaten in restaurants and bars worldwide and here we had one of the best quality filled dumplings and noodles and superb tea we've ever had, served with genuine care and friendliness by the owners who we believe are from Hong Kong.

To all you homesick Asians out there, this place will not disappoint. The owner says the laksa is ‘Newbury style’ so not the strong punchy flavours you can get back in Asia simply because it’ll be too spicy for some people to handle, but the food and atmosphere is so comforting.

Lived in Newbury for years, only heard of this place through a random Trip Advisor suggestion. So glad we did, if you like beautiful flavours in a calm, friendly atmosphere then this is for you. I'm a coffee drinker but the speciality ice cold fusion teas are amazing. Choose your preferred noodles and soup, sit back, soak up the Zen-like surroundings, inhale the aroma of pineapple buns and enjoy.

Tiy has wonderful noodle soups. Sadly they are closed this weekend. When friends visit, I take them here. It's locally run and owned and the food tastes wonderfully home-cooked. I also like collecting stamps on my loyalty card when I order bubble tea! Try the milk tea or matcha!

Having heard great things about this place we finally visited today. So pleased we did. Such friendly service and delicious food. I had the noodle soup with pork dumplings which was lovely. Will definitely go again soon to try all the other things I wanted to try on this visit!

My partner took me here for my first date and it was wonderful! the food is amazing! hand made and superb, the tea is so nice as well! the staff/owners are so lovely and the lemon cake was divine! We haven't managed to go back yet but cannot wait! The highest of recommendations!

Small noodle bar, great selection various spice levels. Staff is happy to adapt spice levels for little ones. Very friendly staff, just a shame that there is not that much space. Highly recommend to give it a try.

I go here regularly since moving jobs to Newbury. Food is always good. You have to wait 10 mins because they cook the food fresh, but boy is it worth it. Soups are tasty and the Lo Mein is really good too. Definitely worth a try! They do takeaway too and give you good containers to keep it warm all the way back to the office too.

This was our first visit to this hidden gem just off Northbrook Street. We sampled the Malayasian special - Laksa curry noodle soup. The food was aromatic, authentic and plentiful and included various kinds of fish, mussels, prawns and squid. We were not adventurous with the tea, sticking to English, but we enjoyed this place so much we will definitely return and maybe sample some of the more exotic teas and cakes on offer.

Highly recommended. We have longed for something like this in Newbury! Lunch yesterday was superb - the freshly prepared Malaysian Laksa and seafood noodle soup were fragrant and wonderful. This is a whole other world away from your average Chinese restaurant. Service is charming and the shop is attractive and spotlessly clean. They deserve to flourish!

My second visit here and i love it. The owners are very friendly and kind people.( they saved me from a wasp so i much appreciate it) .I must say that the most important aspect is that they do one thing and they do it well. I have been here a few times now , and still finding new things to try ,They are very nice people who run TYI , if something is too spicy they will tone it down for you , and you are spoilt for choice where tea is concerned.Service is really good .

Great bowls of noodles at very reasonable prices. Tiny establishment but we'll presented all the same. Only has noodle soups as they are limited to avoid cooking smells affecting neighbours. But if you want a more genuine Asian noodle (mee) dish then give them a try.The beverages are, of course, well worth imbibing and we continue to visit for a light bowl of noodles - take a bib and enjoy.

I've walked past this place many times and always said I'd try it but I've never got round to it. I love small, indepentally run businesses and think they should be supported, plus the Asian style cuisine really appeals.Two of my friends have been eating there regularly so we all went down yesterday - and I was very impressed.All the food is prepared and cooked freshly - I went for the fish ball soup with Udon Noodles with a Green Jasmine iced tea with Lemon. The drink was crisp and refreshing (we were a little hungover so it was definitely needed) and the food was delicious - with plenty of it. This cost me a tenner which I thought was more than reasonable.My friends both went for the pork dumplings with Udon - I tried one and it was so flavoursome.Having travelled around some parts of Asia, this was as good as it gets - there's plenty more on the menu I'd like to try so I'll definitely be going back. I'll also be dragging my mates down with me.The chap running it was very friendly, giving us loyalty cards for our drinks and the service was very speedy.Overall, a nice little find, great food and service and will definitely be going back.If they could get onto Just Eat to order for takeaway I'm sure they'd get a lot more business too.

I have the day off and down town in Newbury, so i thought i would have a light lunch in Tiy tea bar, I had noodle soup with black tea, excellent and cant wait to go again .Staff are great as well, and very helpfull .

Don't let the rather clinical appearance of this place fool you, it's well worth a visit. The Vietnamese salad rolls with chilli oil are a incredibly fresh and set the tastebuds tingling whilst you wait for the noodle soup. With three different types of noodles and several choices for dumpling fillings, the options are endless! I had the rice noodles with vegetable dumplings and it was incredible. The perfect balance of Asian flavours, perfectly seasoned with amazing depth of flavour.

the Tiy Tea bar looks like a tea shop - but inside they serve wonderful Asian food.We started with Vietnamese salad rolls - the best we have had since visiting Vietnam this summer! Then noodle soup - huge bowls of tasty soup, full of flavour & perfect for a wet winter's day.

I went to try this eating place as i had been told about it from my son, I went in early and had a cup of coffee , then went back later for something to eat, well this is the best nooddles i have ever had , the bowl of curry soup on the next table looked really good as well . This little place is a real find - if you love Asian food, this is a gem you won't want to miss! I had the Laksa and white tea on my second visit - spicy but delicious! Fortunately they provide tissues as the heat made my eyes run! Extensive tea menuExcellent - give it a try!

I am a great fan of boba milk tea and drink it often in the U.S., despite the fact that it is most often made with powders high in sugar but of dubious health or nutritional value. So it was a happy surprise to see that this little tea shop uses real milk and tea and brewed a delicious cup. The afternoon was hot, and the drink, conversation with the curious and personable proprietors and pause at a shady table outside was the perfect respite.

I could pretend I've tried everything on the menu and that this place is perfect but I haven't so I can't. What I can tell you is they make an amazing Japanese Cheesecake. You don't know what that it? Think cotton soft sponge with a delicate cream cheese flavour and a touch of lemon zest. A dessert that practically melts in the mouth. Delicious. We tried this on a whim, then ran back to grab a second slice so we didn't have to share, then I went back later that day before leaving Newbury to get myself another. We had peach iced tea with tapioca pearls (Bubble tea) and spent our small wait time chatting to the friendly, helpful and lovely staff. Excellent. After two days (and a previous cafe disappointment) I had pretty much decided I wasn't going to bother going out of my way to Newbury again but this one small tea/noodle/cake shop changed my mind and I fully intend to come back just for them and their delicious cake and tea. I cannot recommend this place highly enough

Very pleasant little cafe. It's easy to miss as it's just off the high street, But just turn down the ally down the side of St Nicholas Church and you'll find it. Some nice Chinese dishes are always on offer, with normally a special of the day. I've had noodles with prawn and pork dumplings and it was delicious. Also, they do bubble tea which I believe is a Taiwanese invention, if you want to try something a bit different.

Great food and very friendly staff. Noodles and desserts are delicious. A fantastic place to go for lunch.

I was lucky enough to stumble upon this lovely resturant on a shopping trip to Newbury, Very friendly staff and authentic food . I have been eating in China town London for many years and the beef noodle soup here is better. Highly recommende.

Today we stumbled across this lovely little place. They were about to close, but kindly stayed open so we could try. My friend and I both went for the prawn dumpling noodle soup. It was delicious. So happy we found this place, instead of going for ususl pub grub. Would highly recommend. And the lovely lady gave us a custard cake to take with us.

This cafe is a real treasure. They serve authentic Hong Kong noodle soup, desserts, tea and cold drinks. We order beef brisket with rice noodles, pork dumplings egg noodle soup, coconut tart, Hong Kong iced milk tea and Chinese white tea. The freshness of the ingredients were incredible and the portions were generous without compromising the state. The owners are very friendly and passionate about their products. I would highly recommend to everyone who goes to Newbury. We would going back to Newbury just for this cafe as the food was amazing! Thank you Tze and Kevin.

Tiy Tea Bar is the place to go if you are looking for homemade asian food. It is run by a couple: the husband taking care of the front of store, and the wife taking care of the cooking. We went there to get some noodles to take out, and they were still fresh and warm by the time we got home! Delicious, simple cooking that warms you up.

I live in Newbury and pop in here on occasions for some good food. The soup noodle dishes are excellent and the couple that run it are very friendly. Haven't tried the many teas available (did have a free sample once) but the teas are all on display and look very good.

I visited for the first time today at lunchtime for some noodle soup. The pork dumpling noodle soup was perfect, the best I've had since I visited Hong Kong a few years ago. There is an excellent selection of noodles, soups, sweets and teas on the menu - I'm looking forward trying some more. The owners were lovely and incredibly hospitable. As I was leaving I mentioned how delicious the soup was and I was asked to come back in ten minutes if I had time. I returned ten minutes later and there was a freshly baked egg tart and a cup of jasmine tea waiting for me. We ended up speaking for some time about Hong Kong, Chinese/English food and traditions.Places like this are so rare and I can't wait to return!

Went to Tiy Tea Bar for the first time yesterday initially just for a tea but after seeing the delicious menu, went for some food as well. I had an awesome lychee cold tea and the beef brisket with egg noodles - both superb. Popped in again today and had the Tom yum curry soup - again delicious with great flavours.With tasty, well-priced food and the option to take away, I'll definitely be going back soon!

We knew of TIY Tea Bar due to our previous stay in close proximity and decided that on our next visit to Newbury, we have to try their delicious noodle soup. This is just what we did on our second day back. The lovely owners took great pride in their fresh produce and also introduced us to their traditional moon cakes from Hong Kong as take-away treat. The pork noodle soup was fantastic and portion very generous. A great healthy lunch option. TIY Tea bar is very well know for their Bubble / Fusion Teas. We unfortunately did not have the opportunity to taste this... have to leave something to try on our next visit.

Great food at very reasonable prices, also lots of tea options to include bubble tea. Owners are from Hong Kong and make traditional and fusion style noodle soup dishes. Owners have both been working everytime we have gone and they are both very friendly and obviously care a lot about their food. I love the dumpling soup she somehow makes meat dumplings taste light and fresh, very good! My husband has tried most of soups now and they are all good. They make fresh desserts from scratch which are very good and also unique. My husband loved the mango ice cream. The cheesecake is very unique very light with a sponge cake base. This restaurant is cash only. I have also had a sandwhich there which was well prepared but this restaurant is known for the soup so I'd really recommend trying a soup!

Truly scrumptious food, fish balls and noodles,so tasty, Coconut Tarts fresh from the oven irresistible, have also had a sandwich in this immaculate little cafe, followed by the Mango Roulade, a sweet made in heaven. The charming owners always greet with a smile, and work very hard producing such interesting and delicious fresh food - a little gem in Newbury's crown. I wish the owners every future happiness and prosperity.

I went here with a friend a while back and were welcomed by two lovely, friendly people! Being a bubble tea lover, I was very excited to try their drinks- I had the mango bubble tea which was amazing. I have yet to try their menu but overall it was an enjoyable visit and would happily come back again. Definitely needs more recignition!n

This place is so unique and lovely, the pork dumpling noodle soup is amazing and I can't resist having it every time! All the cakes are lovely but the mango Swiss roll is very special. Everything is so fresh and made by the lovely lady herself, who is so welcoming and kind.The only bad bit is it's in Newbury and I'm in Didcot, I'm actually taking a day off work this week just to go get some noodles and Malaysia coffee :)

Being Chinese myself I can honestly say the food is authentic and tasty. If you like cakes then you'll love the home made desserts. Very professional and welcoming. We loved the large selection of teas available. Much more interesting than your average tea room. Was very impressed.

After months of passing by this very intriguing tea bar and not being able to venure in due to small child finally got to have lunch here. Very firendly and welcoming patron with extensive tea menu complimented with a small selection of Chinese noodle broth dishes, (they also do sandwiches and toasties as alternatives).I opted for the pork dumpling udon noodle broth which was herty and filling whist OH had the salmon & chicken broth which was just as delicious. Both had iced jasmine tea, one with lemon the other with honey, both vey refreshing. Great lunch value at £17 an a welcome chnge from the usual mundane sandwich chains.

Very filling bowls of hot noodles -- from chicken to beef and fish balls (don't knock it till you've tried it!), lovely Mango Cream Cake rolls and Japanese cheesecake, this is more than your average tea shop. If you've travelled to the Far East and missing the food and that atmosphere, do stop by and reminisce and trade wonderful stories with the lovely couple!

Having a passion for bubble tea I was the happiest person to find this place in Newbury town centre, offering amazing bubble tea with natural flavours and no additional colouring, oh and their dumpling soups are very yummy too.
