Tinto has become one of our local favourites. Pierre, the proprietor and his wife offer you an excellent variety of wines and an interesting and eclectic menu consisting of delicious tapas( the bellotta iberico ham is a highlight) and there are hot dishes such as braised pork cheek and beautifully flavoured fish dishes and even some Japanese dishes such as gyozas and beef tataki.(Pierre's wife is Japanese) We always choose a variety of these small dishes for sharing. Pierre is always on hand to give advice about the wines and holds regular wine tastings.

Our group went here based on a recommendation by a friend. After an exaustive day out, we were really tired and hungry, this bar was an excellent choice. The nibbles are home made and were good value for money. The choice of wine was excellent too. Finally a place where you can ask about wines without feeling stupid. You will not be disappointed. The atmosphere is warm and friendly (alghtout a little bite quiet) and the staff are really helpful and polite. I just want to say thank you to the staff for making this a memorable experience.

Having lived in Islington for many years we were kicking ourselves that we hadn't tried this little gem before. The location is just off Upper Street, but well worth the divert. We tried on a late Saturday afternoon, so fairly quiet. However the staff made us feel comfortable and the restaurant has a nice feeling. The wine was delicious (good selection) - the vegetable gyoza were light and full of flavour and the ham was superb and melted in the mouth. Definitely worth a second, third and fourth trip !

I had a mixed experience here. The wine was delicious. There was a nice atmosphere and good service. The chorizo lollipops were one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten, as was the roast butternut squash and the ginger and dark chocolate fondant. However the other tapas dishes (crab cakes prawns and croquettes) were a little on the cold side and didn't have the flavour I expected, although they looked beautiful. I should really have sent them back as I just didn't enjoy eating them as much as the other courses. I would try again though, but not in a rush.

We were trying to think of a time when we'd had better food and were not sure we could. Every plate we had was excellent, and we loved the random order the tapas plates were brought. The restaurant has a good atmosphere, and the waitress was helpful and attentive. We had eight tapas dishes between three of us, and were pretty full. The prices vary considerably between dishes, mainly £5 to £12.50, and so this can end up an expensive meal, particularly as the wine is also of very good quality, with a price to match. But then, if you want this sort of quality and imagination... The only point to make is they, like many other London restaurants, irritatingly add on a 12.5% 'optional' service charge. Although the staff insisted it went to them here, it doesn't in other restaurants, so why be tainted with the same brush? Does a glass of wine cost £6 as advertised, or £6.75? Why advertise the menu at one price, and then charge another?

Having heard about Tinto from word of mouth, I was tempted to visit but did not expect what I found. I've lived in Islington for a year and was in Soho before that so know the good from the bad. This is a special place, for two reasons. 1) It cooks firmly in the grand modern idiom playfully presenting duck pulled sliders topped with pate for example and 2) A French owner with food in his DNA and passion. Then there's the wine list. This is a restaurant that likes to split hairs. I tasted five before settling on a gorgeous young Rioja that though full bodied was light enough to handle the beef tatiki. For years, we've been putting up with glorified tapas restaurants - basically Spanish ATM machines which hang a ham in the window, lack any kitchen, originality or flair. Tinto's brings the small plate tradition and does with it what only the french can do - turn it into an art.Highly recommended

This little place is a hidden gem, if you really appreciate fine food, a carefully considered menu and an exceptionally friendly owner who has genuine passion for what he does, this is the place for you!! Avoid the places across the road, they are distinctly average, like alot of places popping up around Angel at the moment. We have never had a bad meal, we always leave learning something new about food, drink or culture as the owner Pierre is incredibly welcoming and knows alot about the world. His wife is Japanese, he is French so the menu really reflects this and you get the best of both worlds! The cocktails are fabulous and we simply love each and every visit. I ate at Tinto with some colleagues, and I'd like to start by saying we did have a lovely meal - the atmosphere was welcoming and the staff were polite and attentive. The food is all based around sharing, which is great. We chose 3 items each, plus a cheese platter, and this was more than enough for the 5 of us to feel satisfied (each plate came with between 4-6 items depending on the size). Some items were more tricky to share, e.g. the pork belly - so perhaps ask if you are unsure. The quality of the food was good, my stand-out items were the mini-squid which were light and fragrant with chilli and spring onion, and the roasted cauliflower dish - both divine. The only slight niggle would be the speed of service, we had pre-booked but even so it was quite a wait for our orders to be taken, drinks to arrive, and when the food did come out there was quite a stagger in the items coming - of course this can be good for tapas style service but by the time the last items came out it was a good 30 minutes later than the first ones. No complaints over the quality at all, but just be prepared for a long meal and don't think you'll get in and out quickly!Would definitely recommend for small groups of friends/family, check the menus out online first so any fussy eaters or younger children know there will be something they'll like.

This is a stylish wine bar that serves a range of excellent tapas-style plates. We were able to order half a croquette board (a medley of six in place of the usual twelve) and each was tasty as were the unusual mini-burgers (lobster, confit duck). We drank from their specials board of Galician wines and were not disappointed. Four glasses of wine, a coffee and a mixture of tapas came to a reasonable £60 with inclusive tip. And service was pleasant and attentive and the whole experience quite relaxing and enjoyable.

Service was speedy and the atmosphere was good. Sadly the food was rather poor. Cod fritters were made from a bland and overly processed fish mix. Compared to the similarly-priced fish gougon offerings from the restaurants further north on Upper St, they were disappointing. Croquettes were greasy to the point where drinking from a glass afterward caused the residual oil in the mouth to create an unappetising film atop the remaining water in the glass. Chorizo sliders were flavoursome but, again, dripping in grease. At these prices, we had hoped for better. There were a couple of saving graces: calamari was light and served in a pleasant spring onion and chilli mix, and the pork belly was an appetising cube of meat that was, bizarrely, less greasy than the potato- and fish-based items we'd ordered. But both of these are done equally well (and often for better prices) at other restaurants nearby.

Firstly, I have to say that the food was very good... Inventive, tasty, well presented and of high quality and sensibly priced but this is not the place to go for a hearty, filling meal. However... there must be a reason why this restaurant is much less busy than all of the other restaurants nearby and I suspect it is the concept which seems to focus on, what I consider to be, overpriced wines. I like to drink wine with my food but when the cheapest bottle of white wine is £27 (a wine that you can buy from a wine merchant for about £7, I checked - seems a little greedy - although the more expensive wines do appear to be slightly better value) it sort of spoils the experience just a little. Also, for a wine bar that has such a focus on wine the wine list doesn't contain much detail... no vintage (quality can vary considerably from year to year) and no alcohol content (some people prefer lower alcohol wines) and they also list a red wine on their website under the white wines. The ambience was good with a mix of high-level, bench style seating and low-level tables and alcoves for privacy. Everything was clean and comfortable and the music was quiet enough to have a conversation and there was decent spaces between tables. So, overall an interesting concept but some slightly cheaper (i.e. better value) wines would be nice.

It's worth going there just for the very special Beef Tataki, the Jamon and the Garlic Prawns. Usually when my friends ask me to take them to a Spanish restaurant I feel embarrassed, as there are really very few decent tapas places in London and they usually charge you a kidney and half of the other for super tiny portions. However after visiting Tinto, I can proudly say that I now have a place to take my friends to! The food is really good and for me, the croquettes are the best part of the menu! The wine is very good as well. The price is a bit high considering the size of the portions but if you have the Gourmet Society Card and can get the 50% discount then it`s definitely worth a visit (or several visits!). Unfortunately every time I've visited it's been quite empty, I wish they could turn this around!

This restaurant is truly superb. I have seen many restaurants come and go from this location on the Upper Street end of Theberton street, and sadly many have had to close down. I really hope this one will prove popular. The food is absolutely fantastic, a real treat. There is a variety of different flavours, from chorizo sliders, crab gyoza and frogs legs, to garlic prawns and deep fried goats cheese. The price for this is fantastic, and considering the service from our lovely waiter was so brilliant, I would have been happy to pay more. The food is so well presented, the chef made a brilliant job of making every plate look like a work of art! The glasses of wine are generous, the toilets are clean and the decor inside the restaurant it charming. You could come here on a date, or with your parents or to catch up with friends. Better still, they are on the Taste Card list so offer up to 50% off. This has fast become my favourite restaurant on Upper Street, which puts this fabulous place in high regard. considering the vast variety to choose from!

We really enjoyed our dinner at Tinto. The cheese is amazing (try the rosemary manchego!), and the "goat cheese candies" were very tasty. We also had some incredible cod fritters and a properly made potato tortilla. Good, attentive service (our waiter, a portuguese guy, was very nice with us). I only can't understand why drinks are so overpriced.

It was a really good experience, and thanks to yours opinions I've got it. Basically we've ordered 10 dishes plus two glasses of wine, one beer and one coke; the total was 94£.The guy was serving to us, was a really good seeler thanks to his tips about the food. The best for me and my girl were the lobstar&tarragon burgers and the sea bream served with tosazu sauce. The dessert the number one is the macaroon for sure.I will go back obligate to this nice place.

Staff were engaging, helpful and generally delightful. Food was clean and particularly tasty. The restaurant was blissfully peaceful, due to the very sunny, hot weather I imagine (though I can imagine they retain the element of calm even when busy), which was a welcome breath of fresh air compared to the many frenetic places we've eaten at on Upper Street.

It took ages for anyone to acknowledge we'd arrived. Then the waiter was pushy and arrogant - not a good start. The food was good, however the fire alarm going off for 10 minutes straight and the burning smell ruined any recovery of the evening. We didn't receive two of the portions of tapas that we ordered. No apologies for anything. Could've been so good but sadly a massive disappointment. Won't be going back. There are far better places in islington.

My friends and I discovered Tinto a couple of months ago and it has become a bit of a habit for us to meet there to enjoy an after-work glass of wine. Located just a short stroll from Angel's Upper Street, it's a perfect summer hangout spot with its small quiet terrace, tasteful tapas and friendly attentive staff. I definitely recommend it!

Visited here for my birthday with my wife and loved it, great food, great wine and lovely staff, an all round great experience. There has been a relative explosion of Spanish dining in Islington of late, to my mind this is the best by quite a way having tried all four. The biggest drawback for Tinto are the nearly random opening hours and its slightly off the beaten track location, just off Upper Street. We managed to change our 8:30pm booking as we got there about 7:30pm and we then took advantage of their great five tapas for £15 offer. We were given the offer menu and both proceeded to order five plates, eyes bigger than our stomachs, :) The food was marvellous, beautiful croquettes, great patatas bravos, fritters, squid, chorizo lollipops, tortilla and a great pork belly with red cabbage. The Albarino was excellent and there is an extensive wine list, they had a wheat beer made by Estrella Dam which I'd never come across before and we were given a free glass of pacharan by the owner to top off the evening. We were too full for desserts but the food was of excellent quality, the wine great and the service perfect, I will be going again for more tapas.

I keep coming back to this restaurant. We went recently for my birthday with friends and family and we had the authentic Spanish suckling pig (needs to be ordered in advance). Its a must for meat lovers and was a real treat. Once again the wines also impressed, the Rioja Reserva being one of the best Rioja's I think I have tasted. Tinto is for me producing food at a completely different level compared to the other generic outlets in the area, the owner is nearly always present and happy to give customers his time and recommendations which are always spot on. Its the kind of place that every neighbourhood should have.

You must go there and try it out. Just 25 yds off Upper St. Fantastic quality food at very very reasonable prices. 5 dishes for £15 between 5-8 pm has got to be the deal of the day. Black pudding/quail egg;Chicken wing with Scallops;Slow cooked pork belly; and Padron peppers together with a very good Rioja. The quality of the food was excellent.Pierre, the owner, was very attentive and was so passionate about his food it was an education listening to him explain the dishes. His wine recommendation was perfect. It seems to be getting busier so probably best to book a table so you are not disappointed.I will not wait too long before I pay another visit and would certainly recommend it to you. Met with friends for a early saturday evening meal at 5pm on a recent trip to London. Had an 18mth old with us, but unfortunately the restaurant doesnt really cater for the family crowd so no high chair. otherwise a really nice shared tapas meal. the prawns were really good, sliders were nice and we enjoyed the meal. some dishes dont share so well - like chicken thigh etc. but in general we all really enjoyed the meal which is surprisingly filling. I little expensive but we arent from the area so the london prices are bound to surprise us! lovely wait staff, very attentive. food was a little spread out to say how empty the restaurant was. we were the only guests for most of the time. and some dishes werent too hot in temperature by the time they got to us. Still enjoyed.

What can i say, after debating with my female friends on where to go on a night out we realised most our 1st choice options were fully booked. I had heard about tinto and thought we may as wel give it try, and i do not regret this choice. The service was personal yet informal and the wine list was something else! The chorizo lolipops were a first and the patatas bravas were just how we like them! Now when deciding where to go to eat Tinto will be on that list of first choice options (if we can get a booking!) This place will take off, get in there while you can.

Visited the other night with my daughter while on business in London, had read some reviews and thought it had potential, it seems it has recently been "revamped" and if so has been done with style and thought..Food, all tapas style, was excellent from start to finish, particularly good was the squid and popcorn shrimp but the real highlight was the Iberian ham served with a crusty bread topped with crushed tomato, it was as good as any I have had in Spain, all washed down with a good organic red All in all a most enjoyable night and very friendly and helpful staff, well worth a visit will certainly call again when next over.Bill and Laura

Popped in last week without booking and was fortunate to get a table. Will def book next time! We ordered 5 dishes between 2 which was just right, and great value for money with their current 5 for £15 offer. The Cod Fritters were excellent as were the chorizo lollipops. Also had bravas in a spicy tomato sauce which was delicious. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable when it came to us ordering our wine - which I loved! One of the nicest meals we've had in Islington for a while, I live locally and frequent the many restaurants on Upper Street, Tinto is tucked away on Theberton Street but a worthy find! Well worth a visit + friendly staff, will def return for more tapas and wine!

Being only an occasional visitor to London, I have only eaten here a couple of times, but on both visits the food has been wonderful and the owner clearly has a passion for what he is trying to do. Last night, a group of four of us shared about 9 or 10 of the tapas dishes, and not one of them was anything less than delicious. The chef also did really well with the timing, so the dishes were brought to the table in batches of two or three allowing us to eat them whilst still fresh from being cooked. It made for a wonderful evening. The owner mentioned that a couple of nights before he had tried something different for Valentine's evening and it had not been a success. I hope he sticks to his basic set up and that more people find this lovely place.

Booked a table at 8pm for Valentines Day based on very good reviews on this website, unfortunately we were left incredibly disappointed. There was a set six course menu as it was Valentines priced at £35 per head, which sounded fair enough when expecting good quality. We started with a nice glass of champagne which was easily the highlight of the meal. What followed were four courses, tiny in size and ALL coming to the table cold. When the fourth arrived, which was a well designed nice looking slices of sirloin, COLD, we had enough and complained to the waitress. We were told by the waitress that the cook called sick but she had no time for us at that moment, 'Great' we thought. We asked for the manager, however he was 'too busy' to face us apparently due to numerous complaints that evening. The staff didn't know what was going on all evening bringing wrong dishes to different tables on numerous occasions. Perhaps this place is great on a normal evening, but last night was an utter shambles, with below par cold food and poor service. Will not be going back.

I have visited this Islington restaurant several times and the food and service remains outstanding. Como3 compares well to the usual Upper Street dross pretending to be ethnic restaurants nearby. The key point is value for money; the prices are reasonable and the food is stunning with unusual combinations that work. Service is informal and friendly and the owner is always looking to refresh the menu while keeping on favourites. Como3 should be located in Smithfield where the local premier restaurants are; in its current off Upper Street location is it a hidden gem.

Probably the best tapas restaurant I have tried in London. The food was incredible, everything was prepared with care and passion. The staff are very friendly and attentive, and the cook has on multiple occasions, spoken to us, to make sure the food is satisfactory. A touch you wouldn't get in a bigger restaurant. The owners have also done the same and its shows how much they care about good quality food. The wine is also specifically tailored and I have had some wonderful bottles. i would recommend anything on the menu. My favorites being, Pan Tumaca, chorizo lollipops, beef tataki, mini squids, classicas gambas al Ajillo and the best dish being the croquetas & caramelos boards. My partner is a chief and we both can't believe the standard of food you get for the price. Como 3 offer somethings totally different. I would highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates good quality food!

I should say at the start that Como 3 getting top marks for service wasn't that taxing on the Saturday lunchtime that we went.......as we were literally the only people in there. Thank goodness for them there were 8 of us to keep them occupied! Strange that it should be so quiet as a) it is obviously busy at other times and b) it is rather good. However, I wouldn't really call it fusion.....just a mix of either Spanish or Japanese dishes. We had mainly tapas.......an interesting mix of cheeses, meats (chorizo lollipop and board of mixed ham etc), potato croquettes (each of a different flavour) etc with the occasional gyoza thrown in for good measure. It was all good and a bottle of rioja was fine too. Definitely worth a try.
