Tinley Tandoori in Newry and Mourne

Always a warm welcome in the restaurant. Friendly service and the curries are always great, especially if you like them hot!

Always a smile from the guys serving and food always good. Grab yourself a massive kebab- the chicken tikka one is very good. Any curry dish I have tried was good and reasonably priced too.

I went for the chilli tikka masala which was unreal but just a little spicy for my pallet. Very good food around.

Unfortunately the staff were very rude. They didn't take my nut allergy seriously and served me a naan with nuts. When we wanted clarity if there had been a mistake they were dismissive and lied that there wasn't nuts (it was supposed to be a plain naan) Eventually they finally realised their mistake and apologized, but the evening was ruined. The others didn't enjoy the food as it was bland/too sweet. The chef who came out to apologize was very nice though. Would not eat here if you have a nut allergy.

We were very disappointed. We got the food delivered and the special curry was 90% sauce. There were 3 pieces of chicken and about 4 small cubes of lamb. No prawns at all. I enjoyed the food on a previous occasion when We sat in but thus delivery was not great.

Ordered off just eat doner kebab ond onion bhaji first time ordinary and most definitely the last meet was bad smelling so wasn't looking forward to tasting it..one bite and it was vile... The onion bhaji was just pure batter no filling absolutely disgusting. Never again

Fantastic food every time, never had a bad meal out of here. Service is brilliant, always welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend. Won’t find a better curry in Newry.

Kebabs we ordered in past were great but from last 3 times, it has gone bad, very bland taste, few chopped lettuce in salads n horrible tasting sauces.

Food fresh, the chef came to talk with us describing the menu. I'm not sure he would be able to do this at the (busy) weekends. 07/12/'22 we will be back for my sisters b/day, next week. The food is made using dry spices, not a spoonful of "curry" powder or a jar of uncle bens. Authentic.

Very pure never again we ouder dinner for six ppl 2nite curry chips and kahab meat well at least that’s what wee though we were oudering but there’s no way it was kahab meat 100% not!! Ni 4outa 6 of us throw up 🤢 sick so when we phed the shop bk to ask what kind of meat he give us he couldn’t even tell us alls he did was shout down the ph!!! This place need closed down for sure.

Made an order through deliveroo and the restaurant kept delaying the time for delivery. We rang to find out about our order and the man who answered the phone was very belligerent on the phone, shouting at us and saying we never made an order. Even though we had proof they accepted the order and paid. They then refused to deliver the order and hung up the phone on us. We sent over proof and they still said no. Awful customer service and will never order from them again. Disappointed.

I am totally aghast and still reeling from the RACIST treatment I received at this restaurant just now. Upon taking the order, the person in-charge (the manager cum waiter cum everything there) found the order value of 10 UK pounds too low, and told me he really did not like to serve INDIANS! He had been rude, very rude, with me all this while since I entered the place, but I had ignored the provocation so far as I was rushed and wanted a quick bite. This uncalled for remark, however, just did it for me and I walked out immediately, feeling violated, and my evening completely spoiled. Racism anywhere is disgusting, and very sadly I had to experience it here on a visit to the lovely town of Newry. That too, surprisingly, from a person who looked like a fellow South Asian. This is unacceptable behavior and I will urge one and all to boycott this establishment and especially if you are an Indian be warned that you are neither welcome nor respected here!

Tinley Tandoori.....easily one of the best if not thee best in Newry and surrounding areas. Well worth the drive from Warrenpoint. Food is incredible!

We have been going to this Indian for awhile now and have never been disappointed. quality of food stunning, that combined with the customer service, I would no hesitation in recommending this Indian restaurant. I forgot to mention we travel a round trip of 40 miles for the experience, and it's well worth it. Keep up the Good work Gentlemen!!!!!!

Very tasty and generous portions.

This restaurant is ridiculously overpriced. We paid 8 pounds for 2 onion bhajis and 2 samosa and you could tell the samosas were one of those you could get from a discount store. We were not served with papadoms and were told we would need to order them but they were not even listed on the menu? Seriously, this is the first Indian restaurant that we weren't served with papadoms in Ireland/Northen Ireland. Not sure if it was just us but we felt like we were cheated. The Chana masala although was just for 4 pounds but we think we deserved better than the chick peas from a can. You can really tell the cheap taste. The size of the prawns in our special curry were smaller than the chick peas that we ordered. Lamb wasn't fresh. Pashwari was OK. Pilau rice was pre-made and from oven. The owner was rude and kept coming out every 10mins to check if we were finished. The receptionist tried to help but couldn't save this restaurant from delivering a terrible Indian restaurant experience to us. Never again.

The food tasted like a glass of Dolmio with a bit of cinnamon. Naan, popadom and rice were average. Would go somewhere else next time.

Absolutely delicious food! Great portions. The lamb shaslik is outstanding. The garlic nan was great 😊 My hubby ordered chicken tikka and loved it. Been a few times now - can’t fault it! Big shout out to the waitress!! She’s always super helpful and a lovely person. See you all again soon.

This was our regular Indian takeaway, but last night changed that. The chicken in the chicken korma was pink, obviously undercooked and tasted bad on it's own (without being covered in Korma sauce). It was definitely 'off'. Obviously there is a risk of Salmonella serving this to the public. Also in each carton of Korma, there is only about five small pieces of chicken, about the size of one chicken breast. Bottom line, we won't be back.

Very disappointed in the food quality, made a video of it and took pictures, rice seemed normal, when I opened the madras there was very little meat indeed, and the sauce was like water, like soup.... I phoned the shop and the owner/phone operator was damn rude, he said no no no I'm not taking it back, I could not eat it. I have to warn others about this, and believe me I'm not a fussy person, I can eat anything, but this was poor poor poor

Flavourless food, bought the vindaloo and asked for extra spicy there was hardly any spice and the whole thing was like water. The rice was poorly cooked and to top it all off there was 5 small pieces of meat in the dish. Extremely disappointed considering the premium price on top of other, much higher quality take-aways in the area. Will not be returning.

I went to this restaurant thinking it would be good if had such good reviews but I was sadly disappointed. The starter of all chat was tasty and it got my hopes up but unfortunately the rest of the food was in eatable. They put tomato sauce in their chicken curry and no spices were used there was like 4 pieces of chicken and it was just horrible the butter paneer I ordered was sweet and tasted like coconuts which was a huge mistake couldn't even finish it and I had asked them please don't make it sweet. Overall was really unimpressed And will never go back again. Btw the pic I post are actually from the end of the meal couldn't even finish it and we did not even want to pack it cause we would not eat it ever...

Menu says dishes includes rice, bread or chips, but there I was asked to pay for naan 2.50. £15 in total for a meal - never again!

This is always the place me and my partner get our takeaway deliveries. Food always lovely and cannot fault it. For the first time we went and had a sit down meal a couple of weeks ago as it was the eat out to help out deal. Food arrived and was lovely as always. We had two mains two egg fried rice one Naan and a couple of popadoms. But when we got the bill we found it more expensive than when we get it delivered.. and this was meant to be with the discount. Either way we will still be ordering our curry from here as they definitely look after their loyal customers.

my uncle collected a meal last nite, last tie onion bhajees missing this time the salad etc sides where missing, when he rang up he was told aka lie to, that they don't serve salads any more, this was rubbish as my mother got a meal later that nite and got the free sides which cost little or nothing, the guy who answered was rude and condescending

This is our first take-away from here and it was very good; mind you the korma is a real sugar hit. We had attempted to go for lunch a long time ago but it was closed despite saying open. We ordered seekh kebab, chicken tikka with pilau rice, a potato & cauliflower side, a korma sauce and a peshwari nan. We got two complimentary poppadoms and a yoghurt based dip was also included. All our food was really tasty and decent portions. The food is cooked to order so expect about a 15 minute wait from placing your order. The guy serving was friendly enough and was quite amenable to tweaking my order to suit our tastes. So it’s our new go to Indian (Bangladeshi) restaurant in town. We had been going to another place in town for many years. They recently moved to Cornmarket but we just got tired of their nickel & dime attitude, we found that loyalty counted for nowt and we sure didn’t enjoy our last takeaway from there a week ago and that forced us to try here.

This was my 2nd visit, and I enjoyed a really nice meal, on a quite Sunday night, although the takeaway side seemed busy enough, the shop nearby provides the drink and they provide the food, nice popadoms to start and then the classic bhaji for starter, this was followed by a delicious garlic chicken tikka, and I enjoyed a lovely chick pea rice and a bread with it, decent value and will return, the staff here are friendly and helpful, so I recommend this place fully

Went here with my mum for food and it is up there as one of the best Indians I have had. Food was amazing and service was just as good. Not badly priced either. Ended up getting the chicken tikka masala, onion bajhi and other sides, only came to £30. Would definitely go back.

Whilst on business in Newry, my weekly addiction for an Indian needed feeding, so from TA this looked a good bet, strolled in and asked to see the drinks list, no license so I had to get my own, would be nice if this was made clearer outside, so you could arrive prepared. So I nipped out to the nearby beer shop to get some beers.The BYOB concept is quite popular in Birmingham, however the menu prices reflect the fact they do not need an alcohol license, so I found this place expense in comparison. The staff were really friendly and welcoming.Started with a couple of spicy popadoms, and then had chicken pakora, which was tasty enough and a good portion, meat had a garlic chicken tikka, and salad and vedg curry, which seemed to be mainly potatoes! with a decent rice, again good portion, so overall the food was good but not exceptional, so probably 7/10 but as I said for a BYOB a bit pricey, my food was £20.00 and I have had much better Indians for £20.00.

Just ordered a take away . Got home to eat it. 3 small bits of chicken. The meal was gone in 3 spoonfuls.

The best Indian take away in Newry I’ve tried many others but none compared to Tinley’s the food is super fresh and tasty and the staff are lovely and attentive, Price is very reasonable, I’ve only eat take out as my other half can’t stand anything spicy but the restaurant looks really clean and modern can’t recommend Tinley’s high enough 👏👏👏

Had the kebabs take out , filled us up, the mixed kebab could have more chicken but the donner meat was good and thick cut so that evened it out. Order extra sauce tho cuz ours was a bit dry and had to use ketchup!

I was a loyal customer to Tinley Tandoori for years up until last February when I called them up for a delivery one evening . I had previously only ever went into the restuarunt to order my food so I never any experience with them on the phone until one evening I called them up to place my order for a delivery and the man that answered the phone to me was sooo rude!!! He asked me for my phone number and address for the delivery driver ( as you do ) and when I gave him my address which is Bessbrook ( a little outside the city of Newry ) he started to get angry and told me that Bessbrook wasn't in Newry!! I told him I've had deliverys from the city lots of times in the past from different takeaways and it's never been a problem that my house is literally 5mins drive from newry city centre ? Sure you'd drive that distance if you were delivering to the far side of the city I thought . He then asked me for my number and when I called it out to him he wouldn't accept it because it's an Irish number . He asked me what was I doing giving him an Irish number and I explained to him that I'm talking to you right now from my Irish number if it didn't work here I wouldn't be using it and I assured him if the delivery driver needs to call me it won't be a problem reaching me on my numver . So he didn't go ahead with my order he was angry with me and told me he wasn't sending his driver " the whole way to Bessbrook " ( making it out it was a life time away ) and if he gets there what if he can't find my house and he cant reach me because my number is Irish . He then hung up the phone . I was shocked!! I now order my Indian food from Spice of India in Newry and I couldn't fault their service or food . Their food is exquisite and customer service is so friendly. I'll never ever take anything to do with Tinley Tandoori ever again and neither will my friends and family that have been loyal customers for years there too . I've only taken the time to write this review now because my friend in work mentioned to me today that she had a bad experience with the same man on the phone in Tinley Tandoori the other evening when she was ordering her food she told me he was so rude to her and rushed her to get her off the phone and it reminded me about my experience . I've told my friend about Spice of India and she is now converted and like myself will no longer return to Tinley Tandoori all because of that horrible man on the phone with the terrible customer service skills and bad manners .

Good food - good value for money.

Very friendly. Staff cooked some items upon request. Lack of alcohol licence was a small annoyance but not the end of the world as the food was certainly great value. Next time I am in Newry, I'll drop in

I know it is just a takeaway with added small space ala restaurant so I did not expect too much. But food was flat, no taste, rice very fatty. Service really poor and the nail to the coffin was the chilli I asked for when received food that supposed to be hot but had no taste at all. See the picture. Yes the hair was served as well.

Never was a Indian food lover,but went last night , fantastic, lovely food ,and all at a good price , friendly staff.

As a regular carry out and mid week special customer this was my first Saturday night eat in.I took advantage of the restaurants BYOB to take some Cobra from the local off licence. I starter Ed with the good value mix starter (see photo attached) with my favourite mint sauce dip. This is not like any mint sauce I've tasted but has a beautiful unique flavour of its own.I then had a lamb bhuna with pilau rice, I skipped the nan bread as I knew I would struggle to finish what I had ordered.As usual the service was brilliant & the food great.The restaurant was quite, it was 18:00,but the phone rang constantly with carryout orders.Still highly recommended

Ordered some food with a bit of hesitation. Ordered a pathia curry, naan bread & keema rice. It did not disappoint, perfect! Will order again and very impressed that there is an Indian I will order from again, tasty ✌️

We had take away last weekend for the first time in while, it was beautiful. The staff are very friendly and the service was quick. We had chicken tikka nagri, I would definitely recommend this dish. We where stuffed after it.

Seen the huge poster advertising the mid week deal and tried it out. Was fantastic, starter main and a side for £8pp with a £1.50 corkage as it is byob. The waiter was very helpful and changed dishes to suit our taste. Really enjoyed the food and would certainly go back

Went here on two occasions while here on business and both times I could not fault the food. The portion size and quality of the starters and main meals I had was excellent. Service was prompt and the staff were friendly and asked me if I was enjoying the food or needed anything else. I would certainly go again and would recommend to others.

I have eaten here several times and the food is excellent and the service is always fast and friendly.

My meal was okay, but not brilliant. It seemed to lack any flavour or kick even though I did order a spicy dish. The breads were a bit tough and again lacked any flavour. The staff were nice enough and attentive however I will try somewhere else next time.

I always enjoy my food from this place, I think its an amazing indian takeaway/sit in - better than most sit in restaurants in the local Newry area for flavour and care over balanced aroma. All the dish dont taste like they come from the same basic base. The guys even make me dishes that are not on the menu ie:(chicken aloo balti) and the stuffed partha is such a delicious alternative to a naan bread. Can't recommend these guys enough.

Great curry it was a special 3 courses £ 8 95 I had Ceylon other people had butter chicken and startes all very nice very friendly I never had bad curry here and I've been going since it opened a few years ago very good

Good, solid Indian restaurant with extensive range of curries, good portions and impeccable service. Being from London we have visited many good Indian restaurant and hadn't found anything comparable in Southern Ireland. We visited the Tinley on a trip north into the UK and were pleasantly surprised. While we dined the phone rang off the hook with takeaway orders so others obviously agree. Recommended.
