Tilly Lamp in Cookstown

Steak awful. Complained but still expected to pay for part of the meal eatin which wasn't much. Elderly gentleman needs to learn management skills. Very poor experience. If you have a complaint please ensure you chase the staff around the restaurant before the rest of the party is finished their meals or expect to pay!! Apparently this is their policy.

A super restaurant with Fantastic food. Very reasonable price great service Thank all the staff for an ecpectional experience.

This restaurant is a gem, Called here for dinner with friends, We were taken to our table by a very nice and friendly waitress, One of our friends is disabled and there was no problem with the weelchair at our table. The food we were given was just beautiful, Also the disabled toilet was perfect for my friend. Will deff call here again.

We were only in Tyrone for a long weekend but went there twice. The food is absolutely fantastic. Visit one was 2 steaks and a mixed grill. Beautiful, melt in your mouth meat. we got a bit carried away with side dishes and were unable to finish everything. No problem, they popped the remains in a takeaway box and i finished it later. visit 2 was Sunday lunchtime. Steak again for my daughters, turkey and ham for my wife and I. Once again fantastic. The service was fast,friendly and made you feel very welcome. Great Guinness too. What more could you ask for.

I always hear great reviews about “ The Tilley Lamp” so I thought we would give it a go , staff are very friendly, efficient, food was nice , nothing to fancy , just good home cooked grub, good portions, I had steak and it was delicious everything else that came with it was basic but nice, traditional country pub grub.

All my family and friends always rave about the Tilly Lamp, how massive the portions are, how good the food is, We'd never been so decided to give it a go. Service was a bit slow, to be honest, and the place wasn't overly busy. I ordered a burger and chips, It was very ordinary, certainly no better than something you'd get out of a chippy, the chips were a bit under cooked and just an average portion size. I may have just hit it on a bad day but I don't know what the fuss was about, I've had better food and portions from a chip shop also a hell of a lot cheaper. Dessert again nothing special and not overly big either. Again I don't know why everyone raves about this place.

I went here for birthday meal and it was the best food we have had in a long time! Partner had duck and I had cocck and bull. Can't wait to go back again.

Have been here a couple of times,first time i was very disappointed with the restaurant, not because of the food or staff but because there was not a tilley lamp in sight. I collect them you see and was looking forward to seeing some. But a part from that the place and food was excellent.The service fast and the staff very friendly.One word of warning do not go here unless you are hungry because the portions are enormous and the chances of one finishing a 3 course meal is slim. i recommend you either have a starter or a desert with the main course but not both, to do otherwise you would need to starve yourself for about a 2 0r 3 days to have any chance of eating all 3!.

me and my partner Went for the first ever time from a reccomandation from a friend of ours. staff could not be any nicer! nothing was a bother for them so polite and attentive to us the whole time, the food was absolutely beautiful. this place isn't shy with portions either I couldn't finish mine but I loved it. the place itself is so cosy, I don't normally write reviews but this place definitley deserves it as I had not known of this place before. fantastic place highly recommend it. thank you to the lovely staff also 😊

One thing I detest at restaurants is staff standing watching you but no one will come over? Had to get up and ask for my own drink and to tell them the table beside us had been waiting forever for someone to take their order as their attempts to get attention like my own had gone unnoticed, about 5 staff standing talking, it’s not like they were busy. Asked by 4 different people is everything ok almost straight after each other. Service was miserable food was average. Give here another go after the last time we were here the food was burnt (previous review) but lack of good service really lets it down.

Never had a bad experience in this place yet, been coming for years with friends, family and my partner and every time the staff are as helpful and friendly as the last time. The food is amazing and the portions are huge but not lacking in quality. No worry of the food being wasted, however, as the staff are always willing to provide takeaway boxes for any leftovers. Would highly recommend this place, definitely worth the 30 minute drive!

Enda, Gemma and the team go above and beyond. Extremely helpful. Excellent customer service. Were fit to provide for all our needs even though it was an extremley busy Sunday. My only advice would be to make sure you go hungry. Portion size are large but do not lack in quality. I look forward to returning.

We visited the Tilly Lamp today, service was quick and our waitress was lovely, but when my meal arrived and we were checked on I hadn't tasted the lasagne on my plate... It was so overpowered with garlic I couldn't eat it, so I had the chips and salad that was on my plate instead. When paying I was charged £12.95 for the meal which I couldn't fully eat. Like I said our waitress was lovely and this was probably out of her control but we have decided we won't return here for food again.

Excellent food as always and generous portion size. Only complaint was the bar service, went to ask for another bottle of wine and the young lady doing the bar was making a cocktail and didn't let on she even seen me. Stood about 10 minutes...

Food here is way over priced this is a bar they charge hotel prices.tbe food is barely ateable the mashed potatoes are lumpy and hard the lamb is swimming in grease and the dessert is frozen really bad over priced food go to a hotel...

We visited here as a large family group. We all chose different meals from the very extensive menu and everyone was extremely satisfied with their meal. This is not fine dining but the food is excellent & wholesome and portion size is huge. My tip...

Fui con la mujer. Compartimos el pan de ajo y tocino quesos entrante. Yo tenía una lasaña para mi plato principal mientras que la mujer tenía una envoltura de carne.

Qué una gran decepción. Rollitos de primavera están envueltos en pan y mushing frito. Cóctel de gambas fue un plato de salsa con gambas (mal) que esconden en dificultarse. Sopa de verduras era insípida.

Un lugar muy lindo en el campo de Irlanda del Norte. Sin duda merece la pena una parada. Tuve el uso de pollo, que era preciosa, pero un montón de comida. También pedimos las patatas y brócoli que todos lionesas tradicionales eran buenas pero realmente una porción enorme. Sin embargo, me sentí un poco de prisa en decidir ya que no estaba totalmente claro lo que venía con el plato y lo que era un "add-on" lado. La comida salió super rápido. Si tuviera prisa que hubiera sido genial, pero estaba tratando de disfrutar la conversación, así que me pareció un poco de una molestia. Servicio agradable aparte de ese detalle de preferencia personal. El motivo principal de las cuatro es la falta de claridad en el menú.

La lámpara vieja tilley es un establecimiento bonito y pintoresco! La comida es excelente relación calidad-precio! Porciones enormes y con precios muy razonables. Está un poco apartado, pero bien vale la pena el viaje para una comida maravillosa! He comido muchas veces oír y volveremos una y otra vez!

Tuvimos que pedir dos veces nuestro pedido de vinos, aunque el personal siempre fue servicial y amable. Nuestro resumen de la comida sería 'la cantidad que la calidad '... el pollo estaba cubierto de queso rica, las patatas fritas eran normales, el bistec le faltaba sabor, filetes de pollo empanado y parecía pobre los aros de cebolla en pasta floury estaban cubiertas. El ambiente era agradable, y si quieres un montón de comida normal, este es el lugar para ir. Si prefiere porciones más pequeñas de calidad, comida sabrosa, ir a otro lugar.

Portions massive! Steak was excellent and service very good also, group of 14 of us for a friend's birthday, can't fault the place in the slightest.

Truthfully, my food was below par. I'd read some great reviews and the portions were large as suggested. However, the spring rolls were very well done and the filling was mush. I had the chilli beef stir fry for main course - it was fine... that's the best I can say about it. It lacked any sort of quick and there was far too much of it. I left so much on my plate. I don't think such big portions are necessary. They also brought us extra chips which were not ordered and we were billed for them.

Went here with a work group....food was lovely though massive portions...as I prefer smaller portions this was a bit overwhelming but if you like good old fashioned homely food, this is the place for you. I would definitely return as the food was tasty...the staff also very friendly...would recommend...

Homely and comfy pub. Staff are friendly and helpful. Portion sizes are huge, great value for money! Been quite a few times and the food has always been great. A little out of the way but worth a visit.

Vegetable soup, beautiful! Turkey and Ham dinner, with a side of gravy is absolutely wonderful. I recommend to all for a relaxed and pleasant experience. It is usually busy so if you're impatient then its probably not the place for you, however it is certainly worth the wait, and the portions are huge.

I brought a group of disabled school children to the Tilley Lamp and the staff were brilliant. They just could not do enough for them. The children really enjoyed themselves. The food was lovely and all the plates went back empty. Lovely.

Good solid food and high quality service. If you love a great tasting dinner and plenty of it, rather than sample portions that are overpoweringly rich, this is the place for you.

Very pleasant surroundings, and staff always made us to feel welcome. The portions are more than enough for most, too much for others, be careful if ordering sides as most will not be eaten. The quality of the food is very good.

My Family and I had a wonderful night at the Tilleylamp restaurant celebrating my brothers birthday. As we were a large party we were enabled to pre order our meals with the help of their very helpful and friendly Manager Eilis, who also provided info on the Gluten Free options. On the night we had wonderful attentive service and scrumptious food. The portions were enormous, a bit too much for the ladies in the group but very much appreciated by the menfolk !! Our only suggestion is that the ladies are given the option of small, medium or large portions on our next visit. The menu is also reasonably priced. We would definitely recommend the Tilleylamp restaurant. Many thanks to Eilis and her staff.

My Family and I had a wonderful night at the Tilleylamp celebrating our brothers birthday. As we were a large party we were enabled to preorder our meals by their very helpful manager Eilis, who also provided info on the gluten free options. On the night we received wonderful attentive service and massive portions of good food, which were a little too large for the ladies in the group, but much appreciated by the menfolk !! We would highly recommend this restaurant for great food at reasonable prices.

I remember the poor coffee most as I love my coffee ! I love a good coffee but this tasted like a very weak cheap instant coffee instead of a full bodied Americano ! They should either sort their coffee choice out or their barista skills as I don't know which was at fault !

Had beautiful lunch today,staff the most helpful I ever encountered,they went to great lengths to accommodate dietary requirements at short notice and served delicious food freshly cooked with good sized portions.We highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely return

The Tilley Lamp is a great place for a steak, huge portions, all very tasty, wholesome food, good, friendly service and nice surroundings, would definitely recommend.

I would recommend cancelling work the next day as the portion sizes here are huge and I was barely fit to walk out of the place! But amazing food, I've never had a chicken kiev like that in a long time! Lovely, attentive staff also! Will definitely be back!

I had a family meal here when I got married the staff are great the service is brilliant. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone! I have been eating here for a number of years and I have never had one tiny complaint. The food is so tasty. You get great portions and it is defiantly value for money give it a try I promise you will not be disappointed

We were recommended to try this place by a few local friends advising us that great food in a restaurant overlooking the Lough. Well you can see the lough when you are in the car park but once inside is another dimly lit Irish bar/restaurant with no views at all.

I have been here many times but many years ago. How things have changed!! So disappointed with the service- plates were thrown so hard on the table that half the peas went flying everywhere! The woman serving us was not at all helpful and we had 3 small children with us! Won't be back!! Food was mediocre, and would say poor as it was so expensive for what we got!

Visited with family for Sunday lunch. Food and service both good with large portion sizes. They accommodated my mother in law who is gluten-free. We live locally and will definitely be back again.

Went to lunch here today with my family. Really disappointed , soup was cold , had to send my turkey back , ham was like rubber. Really disappointed.

I went recently here for my boyfriends birthday, was really looking forward to trying it as I had heard so many good reports .. Unfortunately I left very disappointed.. There was a big pile of food piled onto a small plate which was very off putting, the steak was so tough, my boyfriend struggled to cut it with the steak knife, I got the chilli beef stir fry for my main & it was nice, It was only part I enjoyed. The starters were mediocre & the apple tart dessert had been put in the microwave so long that it was soggy. Although the food wasn't great, the staff were very friendly & accommodating. The Resturaunt had a nice homely atmosphere.

Staff were very friendly nothing to much or to little for them to do. Service was excellent and food was outstanding. Plates hot food hot and freshly cooked. When we would go back we would order less side orders as your main was a great serving. Every piece of food had its own distinct taste and the Baileys coffee was so tasteful no artifical cream on it.

Ate here recently with a group of friends and the food was excellent and plenty off it...Service from the waitresses was very good and very friendly...Definatley will return

This restaurant never fails to exceed my expectations. The food is absolutely delicious, the menu is quite extensive so definitely something to suit everyone's taste and it's great value for money. The staff are outstanding and really go out of their way to look after everyone. Without a doubt this restaurant is TOP CLASS!!!!!!

This was the worst meal I have ever eaten - reheated frozen rubbish hidden under mounds of peas and coleslaw. Spring rolls; Hard burnt outside and cold, tasteless mush inside and fishcakes; completely tasteless bought in rubbish. This place is also extremely expensive - had to reread the bill, awful place!

The staff couldn't be nicer. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they seemed genuinely interested in service...

The service in the restruant was very good and they were all very nice. My starter I did enjoy and the main I ordered was okay... But I do wish I got something different. The portions are very big! I wasn't to happy with the dessert I had got as it didn't look nice on the plat as well as not tasting very nice... The pavlova was to heavy and soild, the base of the cheese cake was very hard and the stick toffee pudding was soggy with the sause which I didn't enjoy

Went with a group of workmates. Food excellent, and portions very large. If going at a busy time, its advisable to pre book.

Me and my bf went in March on a week night. When we went in no one came near us to direct us to a table, we went and sat down. We have never been before so we weren't sure whether we had to be seated or just sit anywhere. We then got menu's and the girl that was serving was talking to a family. We we're left sitting for ages before the girl came near us to take our order. We had mushrooms to start and the weren't brilliant, we had to wait for ages on our main course. The atmosphere wasn't great and the server spent all her time focusing on the other family. It was disappointing as I have heard so many good reviews but honestly don't think id be back.

Good food, well priced. Interesting decor, quiet and comfortable. No noisy interfering background muzack . . . hope they haven't introduced it since I was there !

Had heard great things about the Tilly Lamp . It was very busy when we went. My dislike was when the food came it was heaped sky high on the plate...looked like a dogs dinner. It put me off, although it wasnt bad. If you like loads of fodd , this is the place to go

There was a great selection on the menu and we really enjoyed the meals we ordered. The portions are very generous. We were glad we hadn't ordered starters and couldn't have eaten dessert afterwards. All the main courses are served with a lovely side salad but we had difficulty finding room for it all. I would suggest they reduce the portion sizes and lower the prices - we thought it was a bit expensive. The service was great and the restaurant was very comfortable and welcoming. I would, in particular, highly recommend the champ - it was delicious! The views of Lough Neagh en route are lovely and also worth seeing.

After dozens of recommendations to try the Tilly Lamp, we finally decided to go. We turned up on a Friday evening at 7ish with no reservations, the place was buzzing and very busy but the staff were extremely accommodating and got us a table.

Best restaurant around dungannon and outer area :) food is gorgeous and such a lovely wee place, so cosy and inviting!

Was treated to lunch in the Tilly lamp for my birthday. The food is well renouned for being fantastic but unfortunately on this occasion it was just ok. Starter Mushrooms seemed like they were frozen, steak was done too well so well it was dry and tough but dessert was lovely. All in all it seems over rated and over priced.

One of the absolute best restaurants Ive ever been to. Good hearty generous home cooked food. I never go away dissapointed. Its one of my familes favourite places to eat in Northern Ireland. The chicken kiev followed by the cheesecake is my fav.

Food was lovely prices are very reasonable and overall a very nice place to visit. The staff are very accommodating and nothing is a problem whatever you need.

I have ate here a few times now and I will go back. The food is too die for. The portions are massive so my advice is go hungry. I could never do a 3 course here. The staff are really nice and make you very welcome. They go out of their way to make sure everything is to your liking. The menu is very good and has something for everyone. The chicken Diane or steak Diane is too die for. I highly recommend this place to everyone.

I'v been here in August 2013 for my friends leaving party meal to Australia and then again in April 2014 for a friends 21st meal and if you want massive portions for great value for money this is the place to be, a wide range of pub grub food severed in a warm welcoming restaurant its hard to fault, the food itself tastes really good and you will leave stuffed and its not overly far from Cookstown so it is really worth a visit.

We have been told about the Tilley lamp a few times so we decided to give it a try the decor was good staff we excellent very helpful and friendly the food was fantastic and my steak was cooked to perfection and the portions were great couldn't finish it all I can honestly say I have food my new regular eating place can't wait to get back.

Dined here recently, fabulous meal, great atmosphere and surroundings. Staff really helpful which is always a good help. Food was excellent but portions are huge, we had starters and I knew I would not be able to finish my main course when it came out after I had it. Food is piping hot and really well presented. Always nice to get your food when it is really hot rather than the normal lukewarm dishes served in most eateries. Unfortunately we were unable to fit in a dessert so can not comment on that. Prices very reasonable and good choices on menu. The only thing I would like to see changed is the lighting, it is very bright for evening dining. If the lighting was dimmed slightly it would be perfect setting.

We have just had a delicious meal this evening. The Tillylamp never fails to deliver on quality and service. The atmosphere, staff and everything about the place is first come class.

Tilly lamp is a regular for us. Great service, excellent food and great atmosphere!! Best Sunday dinner for miles. Regular menu is first class lots to choose from and something 4 everyone. Keep up the good work
