Three Horseshoes in St Albans

Tricia was an outstanding host. Service was quick and friendly. Food was hot, fresh, well presented, and extremely tasty.( Recommend the fish and chips) The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. I will definitely be back more so in summer as there is a large garden area.

Unfortunately for this establishment, on our visit they kept telling us they didn't have this and they didn't have that......in both the drinks & food departments. We had booked and it was only 2pm there wasn't consistent table service which meant we had to go up to the bar order (& wait for our drinks to be poured) and carry them back. Disappointed at our experience given the good reviews we'd seen....food was OK, but nothing to complicated on sadly.

Had an absolutely incredible meal here. The food was DELICIOUS for a very reasonable price, and the staff were lovely (particularly Tracy). It was the perfect date night- can’t wait to go back soon!!

A nice quiet Easter Day lunch was what my 93-year-old Mum was looking for. We were greeted by Sarah who was also our waitress for the duration of our meal. The meal was excellent, beautifully cooked and presented, plus portions were very generous. Definitely will go back again!

The service and food was excellent, especially for a table of 8 with ages ranked from 7 to 85! The Three Horseshoes is a highlight of the St Albans food scene. We will definitely be returning. Shout out to Sarah for really looking after us.

I have not visited this pub for a while but thought I would give it a go. Popped in last week and was pleasantly surprised. Amazing food served by the lovely Tracey who kept us entertained throughout our visit.

Nice pub for a drink and a bite to eat. Pity the only vegan wrap (light lunch) option wasn't available, and no alternative (we didn't want a main meal).

Was here on Mother’s Day which is clearly one of busiest days of the year. It was clear there were a few issues due to an accident locally which meant some people arrived late. However the staff appeared to be really focussed on trying to accommodate everyone as best as they could.

A lovely woman called Tracey went above and beyond to make our Mothers Day special for our mum. She was happy & cheerful and nothing was too much for her when mum decided to change her mind about dessert.

We visited the Three Horseshoes Hatfield, for Mother’s day 2024, as a family of six for a late lunch early dinner. Straight away it started badly, having to wait 40 minutes for our booked table, given the excuse traffic had delayed earlier dinners. It just got worse and worse, we were seated next to the disabled exit that people used freely so we sat in a regular cold breeze. The table had no drinks menu and when requested one we were told they didn’t have one, so we just ordered soft drinks. When ordering only 3 of the 9 starters were available, and we were not told that there were shortages on dishes until we tried to order. The food it’s self when it did finally arrive was very average at best. The duck pate didn’t come with enough bread, the chips with the Chicken pie were cold and sent back, and the roast potatoes with the roast dinners were luke warm, and tasted like they had been sitting around most of the afternoon. There were also missing items e.g. stuffing wrapped in bacon. All around we could hear other people complaining, whilst the staff were nice, all they seemed to be doing was going from table to table apologising and handing out free drinks. We received free drinks and paid for two of our three courses. When we got the bill, our prepaid deposit wasn’t deducted from the bill! Unfortunately is isn’t good enough, this was meant to be a great end to Mother’s Day, but was a complete nightmare. We paid £150.00 and still left feeling robbed. To cap it all off, chewing gum placed underneath the table got stuck to my jeans and will now not come out, we didn’t complain about this as at this stage we had been in the pub for over three hours and just wanted to escape. This was a very very poor experience, will not be returning.

One of my favourite pubs/restaurants to have lunch, dinner or drinks with friends. Cosy clean nice atmosphere with open fire. Food is good especially sunday lunch. Staff are very friendly especially Tracey who always goes that extra mile making your visit perfect and she also introduced me to the brilliant Vintage app where you get fabulous rewards. We will keep coming thank you!

Staff were doing their best but our table was delayed, we had to wait a loooooong time between courses and the food was cold and not as advertised. That was after half the menu not being available. All in all unfortunately we won’t be going back.

The food was all of good quality, well prepared and plenty of it. It was also great value for money too, which for a family of 4 is important. Staff were extremely friendly and the whole experience was very positive.

Invited four friends here this evening for a catch up and some dinner, the restaurant was quiet but very nice , the staff looked after us all very well even with some of the menu unavailable it was still very good we all had a great evening of laughter ,drink and great food ,would highly recommend this pub I can imagine in the summer with its great outdoor space this would be a gem of a pub garden

Fish cakes very nice my partner had a burger and said it was very tasty we had a lovely evening there was music on so made it a good night was look after by Tracey.

Amazing food, service, great live music and a welcoming atmosphere. The interior is stunning too, and really cozy. I ordered the Hunters Chicken Schnitzel and it was cooked swiftly and tasted amazing, especially for the price. We had a great time.

Popped into the Three horseshoes after a quick visit to the garden centre opposite. We fancied something to eat but the garden centre do not allow dogs. Walked over the road to the three horseshoes where but us and our dog were made very welcome, we were given a lovely table in the Snug. Walt (the dog) was given water and a treat and we enjoyed a bottle of wine and a very tasty and hot meal all served by Tracy who was very attentive checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. Such a good buzz with families & lots of very well behaved dogs (not allowed in the restaurant area). We will be back, thanks Tracy

Found the 3 Horse Shoes a few few months back when looking for lunchtime food & a quick drink with work buddies - GREAT find, food great and comes quickly which is well appreciated when your on lunch break - staff are really welcoming - been back loads and will keep going - See you soon :)

Staff are lovely, lots of parking , the American waiter is always helpful & friendly We go there a lot especially early doors lovely fire too and nice cosy decor with lots of little areas to sit !

I went to this pub for the second time, and it's really great! The place feels cozy, and the bartenders know a lot about drinks and love what they do. They have both regular pub food and interesting choices on the menu. It's a perfect spot for people who live here and for those just visiting.

Visited first time today - excellent pub with freshly cooked food which was excellent - looked after by Tricia which was a pleasure as she was friendly, lovely sense of humour and always smiling. Would definitely go back and highly recommend.

Took my family for a new years eve meal here, when I ordered my wine they didn't have the one on the menu. My wife wanted a corna beer and the waiter said there was none in the fridge and he couldn't get more because the d.j equipment was in the way and he couldn't move it. When ordering more bits from the menu myself and my son also got let down on the food we wanted. Bad new years eve dinner ever. Will never go back what a joke.

Booked a table for 3.30 on a Sunday., for a Sunday roast . Get there to be told they have no roast potatoes or yorkshire puddings left ?? Absolute joke how can a place advertise roast dinners but the main things they have ran out off. Surely planning is not their speciality. Very upset customer.

This was our son's 6th birthday. The team made our dinner special by providing a special brownie with candles and song. However they did not have kids pasta on the menu and our server kept on coming with more questions about our steak order as he forgot half of the things to ask at the time of order.

A lovely pub we always come to for a few beers and the occasional meal. The food is great, especially if you can get a seat by the fire in the winter. Jamie and the team are always excellent, providing brilliant service.

This was the second time visiting, this time for Sunday roast. Thoroughly recommend. Food excellent, as were the staff. Helped being dog friendly as well. The log fire finished the day off, with the weather being pretty grim outside.
