Three Elms in Cardiff

The staff really are The Three Elms best asset. You could see they were rushed off their feet yet they keep smiling and can’t do enough for you. The food was very nice and great portion sizes. The only thing that lets you down is the cleanliness. The table was sticky and covered in salt and the menus had something smeared over them. Other than that it was an enjoyable few hours out.

I had a wonderful experience at The Three Elms had a couple of drinks after work on a Friday and the service from Iwan, in particular, was brilliant and very friendly. Fantastic pub!

Haven't been in here for ages but the food was lush and James was nice and friendly to me and my partner.Id definitely come here again :)

Love stopping in Three Elms whenever I pass through Cardiff, a lovely local pub with stellar food & drink, beers on tap. Have to shout out one staff member in particular James, an absolute sweetheart, took great care of us. If you have the pleasure to meet him when at the Three Elms you're in great hands xx

Lovely time thanks for Sian she was very helpful as she helped us with a few issues with our food and she gave us great customer service and making sure our food was up to our standards. Sian was also polite and very kind I ordered tomato pasta and it came with a tea spoon of sauce and Sian immediately sorted it and helped me out if I was to go back here I would be honoured to get served my Sian!

A large group of us booked for lunch ahead of a trip away, Sian our waitress was great, friendly, chatted with us as did management, sorry can’t remember their names, food arrived quickly, hot and really nice, nice atmosphere. plenty of parking

We've just had a fantastic experience at Three Elms. Our server Dan was fantastic with the kids and definitely went above and beyond. We also had another server who was great but sadly missed his name. As a bonus the food and desert were delicious. Definitely recommended and we will be back

Had a lovely roast dinner. It was very tasty. Only thing I would sat, they only gave us one gravy boat between the two of us. A drop more would have made all the difference. I'm sure if we had asked, we could have had more. If they had just put gravy over the meat, then the boat would probably have been enough. Excellent value....2 roast dinners for £15.49 and there seemed to be a lit of drink offers, plus food offers on different days of the week. If you're going on a Sunday, it would probably pay to book a table. Staff seemed lovely. Plenty of parking. We'll be back .

Been here a few times for some grub :) the staff are friendly the people are lovely, The food is lovely you get alot for your money thats for sure unlike other places. One staff member in particular who waited on us her name is sian, well what a lovely lady she is so caring and kind very happy to help she loves her job and loves people it's nice to see staff who actually enjoy there work because you don't always see that in public houses. Fair play to her! Well worth visiting this place for a great experience all around even better when signs around.

The service was poor, massive queue and the food just isn’t as good as I expected also the poor lack of options of drinks suck as Strongbow and other missing spirits from the menu, had to get our own knife and fork and a young very tall lad who served us was quite rude to me and my missus.

We had food here and it was amazing. The service and atmosphere was brilliant. We were served by a great guy call Dan he looked after us and made us laugh. We got talking to him and turns out he is from the same area as we are as we were away for the weekend definitely would recommend and be back

Great night after the Rugby definitely recommend, there was this bloke called Dougie who started stripping at one point, must be a Welsh tradition when Wales get beaten by Scotland !!, Dougie had a partner called Tina who taking selfies and making me wear her glasses & she kept calling me Butty but I didn't even have any sandwiches, great pub with great people we'll be back

First time here today and at first I didn't know what to expect as the pub is quite out dated, but the food was amazing! Big portions, hot and just delicious! Definitely coming back

Was here for Wales v Scotland. Although it wasn't the result we wanted it still turned out to be a fab night. It was great to have a BAND back. Well done Jade Osborne you did a good job. Hopefully the good times are coming back. Keep up the good work. We were here on Saturday 3rd February 2024.

I can honestly say this is the best public house in cardiff!! The team Dan,James,jade,Tom,I wan,sian Vicki who will be surely missed are approachable friendly and extremely attentive nothing is to much trouble!! These guys are fabulous I for one appriate all your hard work and effort to make the three elms the number one pub in cardiff !!! Bravo team elms !!!

Having read a few negative reviews I phoned to check that a full menu was available and was assured that it was. Eight of us arrived for lunch and ordered eight different meals. All the food was served twenty minutes later and we were all impressed. The meals were hot, very tasty and nicely presented. The waitresses were very attentive and we were asked several times if everything was satisfactory. Highly recommended.

A very nice pub meal. At the time of writing (Jan 2024) they are doing a selection of two mains for £5.99 each!

I really didn't taste there food! Or test there service culture so I can't really rate them on these scores for now . Maybe when I visit next time I wan better rate their system and service provisions....

Christmas dinner 2023, service was amazing, food was amazing (large portions) we always struggle to entertain our 3 young children for the duration of a meal but the staff at the 3 elms had thought of everything, tv, colouring, crackers with little toys, it was so relaxed and comfortable!! We had the best Christmas dinner in many many years and really enjoyed ourselves. I wouldn’t have changed a thing and would recommend to everyone!! We will definitely be back again soon. Thanks.

Good honest down to earth establishment. Food is truly excellent. Never had a meal that I did not REALLY enjoy. Generous helpings. Never had to wait long. Staff friendly and helpful. Edited December 2023. Sadly the above 5 star review which I left 4 years ago is no longer relevant. In the last 3 months I have had a couple of very disappointing meals at The Elms. Around 3 months ago I went there for a steak which is served on a skillet with fried onions and pepper. I asked for a medium cooked steak. I was given a white plate with no onion or peppers (they'd run out), and a steak which was almost raw and dripping in blood. It went back to the kitchen 3 times but still had blood running out of it. I gave up and asked for a refund . I hoped that this was just a one off problem . I visited again last week. I asked for a medium cooked steak, salad and sweet potato fries. I was told that they had run out of salad and sweet potatoes so chose alternatives. When the meal arrived there were again no onions or peppers which are supposed to be included (they had run out again), and the steak was again almost raw and oozing blood all over the plate. To make matters worse the waitress had an extremely hostile and disagreeable attitude which I found quite offensive. I am deeply disappointed as I have visited The Three Elms on countless occasions over several years and have always had excellent meals with friendly helpful service until the 2 recent visits. I have also recommended to many, many people. I have attached photos of the most recent meal, and a previous excellent one to show the difference.

Visited the three elms today with my 3 children, mother , sister in law and nephew. I’m absolutely appalled to be honest! There was a massive queue at the bar when we 1st arrived and only 1 member of staff serving! Went to order food to be told they didn’t have half of the menu, no steak , no chicken, no burgers and only 2 desserts to choose as from bearing in mind they have a offer on a Thursday (free dessert) when our food finally turned up it was stone cold and the sharing platter was missing half the stuff on there and the other main meals were cold and the one sizzler meal came on a cold plate (apparently they didn’t have no peppers or onions) we sent the food back to be told there was no chicken left! To be brought out garlic bread which had hair all over the plate!l I felt sorry for the staff as it’s not there fault so they get the brunt of the complaints we had and there was quite a few! How can you be a pub that serves food and have no food or certain drinks is beyond me! We go every year to celebrate my daughter’s birthday but I will not be returning as it was absolutely shocking!

We had a great time at The Three Elms,Cardiff. Dan & Kate helped me to organise a Pre-Christmas lunch with friends on 17th December. The room was very well decorated for Christmas, the atmosphere was welcoming and homely. The whole group of 23 people enjoyed the food which was well prepared, very tasty and plentiful. Dan was my initial contact and he was very helpful and wanted to ensure that the lunch went well. On the day, Kate managed the session by providing clear guidance as how we should order the food and pay for it. This worked seamlessly. A great time was had by all who attended and they were impressed by the hospitality shown by the whole team. Thank you Team. We Wish You All a Very Happy Christmas. Cheers. Frank. p.s. Food was okay, even tho could not get what we wanted, no burger buns especially on a day of bogof on burgers, no coke, no chicken strips and no milk for a coffee.
