Advertised as open until 10 on a Monday, arrived at 5.55 to be told couldn't be served as closing at 6. About 8 people in the bar, 3 outside. Strange idea to close. Wouldn't have stayed as person behind bar never apologised or gave a reason for closing 4 hours early, bit grumpy. No ale on. Fortunately we were told about The Sun in Dunsfold village which turned out to be a little gem. Friendly welcome, good choice of ales, log fire and smiling staff.

I hate to do this but I'm only saying what a lot are thinking. We have been regular customers here for years. The place has gone seriously downhill in the past months, running out of beer, stopping doing food, heating turned off. It's been shut for nearly 2 weeks as of today's date, with no indication of it ever reopening. Where has our beloved local gone? It's a huge shame.

We've been in to eat twice since the lovely Three Compasses reopened. The circumstances don't help, but, the welcome was fantastic with excellent people behind the bar and serving, the chef came out to chat with us, explaining how he had created some of the dishes on the menu (coronation chicken croquettes mmmmmmmm) it's clean and smart and a joy. If you haven't been in there for a while, get yourselves back in! Totally understand with coronavirus making things awkward but give this beautiful little pub a go. In my humble opinion, you won't regret it. Ten out of ten guys, hang on in there, you're going to do so well

I went for a lite pub lunch, but that is not what they do, it is geared to dining. I also wanted to sit in garden, but no parasols. I admired the whole layout, and I picked an Appetiser and a starter, both of which were good. It is only second week open, but they need to absorb what this area is needing. Fine dining in evening of course, but day time to build their reputation some pub type lunches, or don’t open during the day time. Good service And willing staff, just a bit lost at moment, early days. I wish them well

The pub changed hands just before the lockdown in March which was very unfortunate for the new landlords. However, since reopening I have partaked in a couple of beers there and an evening meal. The bar staff are friendly and helpful. The bar area seemed very empty due to covid distancing but you can see the potential there. Same again in the restaurant area. But the food was fab. Not a huge menu but everything was well presented and the food cooked was very tasty. They seem to support local suppliers. Plenty of garden space and there was talk of a pet corner which l think would attract young families. I wish them good luck during these hard times.

The pub as a venue looks incredible, my father used to spend many a Sunday lunchtime here whilst I was growing up must have been 10 years in total. It has transformed into a modern light open venue yet kept the traditional fire place and modern pool table, many memories brought back. However the bar maid had no enthusiasm or customer service when we walked in, no welcome at all, rather a big sigh of effort that she had to do the job that she was paid to do. The menu was poor , but the chicken n bacon club sandwich looked appealing with added chips £1.50 , yet also advertised was a bucket of chips was £3.50 yet the same size as the add on chips that got served with our main sandwich .Very false advertising and very disappointing. The sandwiches that came out were so different 1 was presented beautifully , the Brie n bacon sandwich also with stale bread , yet the rest were just slapped onto the plate and cocktail sticks shoved part way into the club sandwich so they didn’t fall apart , the chips were cut in a great size but were undercooked. Very disappointing visit, food could have been so much better and an enthusiastic welcoming HAPPY bar member should be a necessity.

Saturday evening a few weeks ago now but I still feel let down by a pub that used to be so good. The staff were very friendly but bar ordering only. Asked to pick up a menu from the bar before finding our own way to the table in a back room, Main course food good. Dessert was ice cream take it or leave it. The chef couldn't have made something else when they realized they had sold out at lunchtime? No coffee possible despite the impressive coffee menu on the wall behind the bar. I took my daughter who has autism out for a meal as I’d heard good things about the pub!!! Well what a disappointment she was so looking forward to the bbq as she’s very funny with her food this would of been ideal, no McDonald offer better food, £7 for a kids size burger, small amount of chips and hardly any coleslaw. When I spoke to a member of staff and explained I was advised ‘Well we are busy’.. very slow service, no onions for burgers!!!The toilets were a disgrace, yes I know there was an event down the road but you still have a duty of care to YOUR customers.Shall not be returning!!!

The front part seems to consist of two rooms. And the toilets where clean and well maintained.

When we booked I was told that they were starting a new menu, however on the day Phil, the manager called me to apologise as the new menu wasn't ready and read out the food on the menu today. This really impressed me and after meeting him & his staff, I can honestly say that the customer service we experienced was amazing. Visited on a nice summer Saturday, nice beer garden with lots of space for kids to play. The pub has a quaint interior and some great aviation pictures which was up my street. Staff were very friendly and overall there was a nice atmosphere. We ordered some sausages sandwiches and bacon and brie sandwiches, both of which £6.50 each and a portion of fries for £3.50, we had high hopes following other reviews, but sadly really quite disappointed. The food took 40 minutes to arrive despite us being the first people to order for lunch. All the food was really quite badly presented, unusual for a country pub. The bread was swimming in margarine and the sausages were cheap value sausages not what I was expecting for £6.50. The portion of chips was small and I saw no difference between a full portion for £3.50 and a small portion for £1.00. It was a shame as otherwise we would have had a great visit.

Wow....a friendly pub where you aren't treated as just cash cows on a Sunday lunchtime. We paid an unplanned visit in a very sodden and depressed frame of mind having walked out of a nearby establishment due to its very limited menu and cavalier attitude to guests.
