Mid August trip to the Gower and we headed here primarily as a base for a walk across to Three Cliffs however the Cafe was a real find and lovely to sit outside in the sunshine. Coffee and food good, it wasn't too busy either so we seemed to be lucky, food was great and didnt take too long to be served. NT car park across the road has great views and as an NT member it meant we had free parking. Lovely place...recommended

I love this coffee shop, although through no fault of its own can get busy but there is extra seating upstairs and a lovely quiet area downstairs where my daughter and I sat. I had Glamorgan sausages on a bed of salad and my daughter had a jacket potato with beans and cheese, both dishes were thoroughly enjoyed and the plates emptied. Lovely atmosphere with music from the past to enjoy and the waitresses were charming. Defiantly will be returning.

Having eaten at this Cafe frequently for many years, its high time I gave them a review. Visited yesterday to celebrate a birthday, and they kindly reserved an inside table for 4 people and a dog. Food, including Pizzas and Baguettes was outstanding as usual, best Pizzas ever ! The value for money is incredible, when everyone else has hiked up their prices Three Cliffs Coffee Shop remains fantastic value for money, and coupled with happy friendly service, its highly recommended. Impressive that they cater for vegans and vegetarians, and the huge selection and choice of food is great.

My wife and I visited the Three Cliffs Coffee shop recently and as a result of our bad experience, we felt that we had to write a review.Having visited the coffee shop numerous times over a number of years, we have always enjoyed the food and drink on offer and were looking forward to a similar experience before our walk along the cliffs. As with other food outlets, a certain effort has been made to comply with the Coronavirus “rules” - posters outlining the distancing rules, hand sanitisers, arrows/markers on the floor etc. However, this appears to be a token gesture when it comes to keeping the seating area and tables sanitised. When we arrived, there was a spare table, but it was covered with the previous customer’s food and drink cartons. We asked the waitress if she could clean the table, but she replied that she wasn’t allowed to as she was serving food. She went into the cafe and asked another member of staff to clean the table. Her colleague came out muttering that customers should clean up their own tables after finishing. She was armed with two disposable wet wipes and proceeded to wipe down the table and arms of the chairs. She probably spent no more than 15 seconds doing this and it was very apparent that she felt very inconvenienced to have been asked. During our stay, we observed at least two parties raising the subject of clearing the tables with the staff as there was a significant build up on the tables and nearby walls. We also observed a couple sitting at a table that had just been vacated, but had clearly not been cleaned beforehand. The waitress that we spoke to earlier could then be seen emptying the bin (despite previously stating that she wasn’t allowed to clean the table as she was serving food!!).The Coffee Shop is currently undergoing some building work in the main outdoor seating area, so part of the area has been cordoned off. The spare tables have subsequently been relocated into the area directly in front of the public toilets- surely, this is not the most hygienic location to be consuming food and drink? We have visited a number of food outlets since the easing of lockdown and have been very impressed with the level of cleanliness being adhered to, but were really shocked at how poor this was at the Three Cliffs Coffee Shop and at the attitude of the staff towards this.

Had a gorgeous walk in Three Cliffs and got back as it was going dark at 4.30pm. After having ice cream from the connected shop earlier we were sure the cafe would be closed. Hurrah! It was open. We sat outside as it was mild and ordered 2 ‘of their best’ hot chocolates and a lovely cake which was an amalgamation of Mars, crunchie and other choc goodness. We paid £10.50 so not the cheapest but take a look at the pics to see why. Worth every penny. Best hot choc ever and the cake filled us both up. The cafe also opens in the evening so when we return we’ll try it for dinner. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area, right next to the car park at Southgate for the Three Cliffs walk. Enjoy! Give me a thumbs up if helpful.

We came to view Three Cliffs Bay, parked on the grassy area outside and called in for a much needed break after a long drive and then again after our walk. The tables outside were packed and there was very little room inside so obviously an extremely popular cafe with an extensive menu & a farm shop attached to it. They do cater for people with dietary constraints. We had coffee and baguettes on arrival and then bara brith for afternoon tea - both were delicious. The service was very slow given the busy day of our visit and was incomplete so we had to ask them to bring the rest of our order. They were very welcoming and pleasant and apologised for the mix-up & delay. What can I say about this superb place, visited friends at Caswell Bay last week and decided to call in for lunch, not having been for months, love the new restaurant area, weather was gorgeous so we sat outside in the sheltered area, sun was shining and it was lovely (few days later we had snow) had to have my favourite, a ham and cheese ploughmans lunch, it was superb, local sourced ham and cheese, just delicious, did take photos but for some reason my phone has deleted them, well worth a stop after a walk, all food freshly prepared and home cooked, oh and the cakes are amazing. Car parking is either in the National trust car park opposite although there are limited free spaces outside the restaurant. Be aware there can be cows and big cows at that, wandering free along the car park and cliff top, they do not however bother anyone and are a delight to see, we were lucky enough last summer to watch a cow give birth on the cliff top, Lovely walks down to three cliffs bay or along the top for the view across to Oxwich bay, also worth a walk is across to the fabulous and breath taking Pennard Castle, access is across the common and golf course via white stone waymarked path, views from the castle are something else and highly recommended.

Beautiful day for a visit to Southgate...sea and sky blue and spring certainly here. Popped into the cafe for coffee and the most delicious caramel crunch Tiffin. Busy but very friendly service. Will return very soon.

We parked in the NT car park across from the coffee shop. We had a lovely walk to Pobbles Bay before treating ourselves to cake at the Coffee shop! Wow what a treat! Generous slices and very tasty! I’m glad I had a walk before hand! I was a little disappointed that they had run out of Welsh Cakes! Maybe next time?!

With fresh bread infused with wild garlic, Gower mussels and mackerel on a bed of watercress and beetroot, followed by a taster platter of desserts with the stars being the chocolate terrine and blood oranges and nuts, our birthday meal was so fantastic. The love and care and passion for food was outstanding and service with a beautiful smile made our day. For freshness and local produce it’s great to see an independent chef proud of his menu. Also to be able to top it off with a Cliftop walk made it sheer blissful afternoon.

We visited as a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 under fives) with another similar family, 8 of us in all. We've visited a couple of times before but this was the first visit en masse with under 5s. We arrived after a morning on three beach at Pobbles, slightly soggy from excessive bucket and spade work. The staff were lovely, and super accommodating with space and food. We felt really welcome and looked after, especially as we had 4 over tired small people squarking like a flock of macaws. As observed with previous visits, the loos are immaculate which really makes a difference in a beach type setting and shows the care and attention that goes into everything here. The food was good (didn't expect a steak burger to be an actual steak!), and the cake was epic both in proportion and flavour. We will be back and have set up Zoopla alerts to make sure it's a long term thing!

Just enjoyed a delicious dinner at The Cliff Restaurant which is a lovely addition to this family run coffee shop. They specialise in novel local recipes. The service was very friendly & attentive. My friend had the steak - which she loved. I had the pork - it was exquisite. We'll definitely go back ourselves & will take visitors there to taste the best of local Welsh produce.

We were shown to our table in the area upstairs, a bit disappointed that we didnt get the window table even though we asked for this table when I made the booking and was asured at booking we could have this table, we were served tea or coffee, we waited a while for food but can only assume this was due to sandwiches being made to order, a selection of cakes and some very unusual tasting cakes/sweets. I would of liked a little more savoury items and not just sandwiches, also clotted cream to go with scone would of been nice too as we were only given jam we brought some cakes and scones home.

Discovered on a trip to the Gower. Small compact, friendly atmosphere and tasty food! Soup - sweet potato and red pepper excellent served with bread/real butter. Bacon toastie with small salad not a garnish. Excellent value. Excellent pot of tea, and good quality coffee. Cakes - divine! Eat in or outside. Also after a lunch you can sit in the lower lounge to enjoy your coffee, releasing tables for other diners! Superb wish I had known about this little coffee shop sooner! Will return.

An ideal place to stop for coffee and scrumptious cakes. Depending on the weather you can sit inside or out on the patio. It is usually very busy. Right next to the National Trust car park.

Wasn't expecting much, but very pleasantly surprised by this lovely cafe. They had milk alternatives, but slightly disappointingly, the staff didn't seem to know if there were any dairy-free cakes, otherwise we would def have indulged.

This place is always full , its a great mix of people which lends to a fab atmosphere! Its got such a nice feel. Anyway as i said i never have cake as it always looks sort of generic like just some more cake. But , i was lured by the slab of lemon and coconut cake. I didn't ask my husband as he always said no ! So i just threw caution to the wind and went for it. It was so delicious and he agreed (and he isn't keen on coconut!) I don't mind a weak cappuccino so this was also good, nice froth and didn't come with awful choc powder, thankfully! Anyway give this place a go. It does lunches and meals. xx joy

The Commercial Innlocation-iconGower RoadBritish

Have visited the Commercial on several occasions and have always received excellent service. The staff work extremely hard and always have a smile on their faces. Noting is too much trouble. The owners Nova and Gareth are friendly and very welcoming and treat everyone like family. The food is of a very high standard, delicious and promptly served. Band nights are so much fun and there is always a friendly party atmosphere. Do not hesitate to visit, you won’t regret it.
