top notch place for when you want a break from your shopping spree. nice atmosphere and great interior. did I mention its dogs friendly! if you have any food allergies don't worry this place has you covered. everything is gluten free and has many vegan options. overall a fantastic cafe. only issue would be that it's small but it adds to the character of the place in my opinion giving it that vintage feel and that you've just discovered a secret in the town of gusbrough

My absolute favourite cafe. Fantastic for coffee, cake or even lunch. So far my favourites are the lemon and orange cake & the Sweet Potato Spiced Soup with savoury scone/muffin (both dairy free and gluten free).

Went in here with our two dogs and didn’t realise that everything served is gluten free. It wasn’t until my wife wet to pick a slice of cake that we found out. We had panini which were excellent and lovely harissa and sweet potato soup to start. We then decided to share a slice of cake and having tried lots GF cakes this was very good. Would certainly recommend this place, excellent service and good food.

Absolutely fantastic cakes and scones and service.I am gluten free and I have never had food like it. I will recommend this cafe for everyone. Even if not gluten intolerant. My mother in law said she had the best hot chocolate she has ever had. The food was delicious and presented immaculately.

A delightful and unexpected find. A little quirky but we were made so comfortable and the owner was so accommodating. Not a place for a quick in and out, but we'll worth a visit. If you a want chain coffee outlets coffee, you will not go back to their diesel slop.

Without a doubt, the best gluten-free cakes I've tried anywhere in the country so far, nice friendly cafe giving that been in a warm country house style feeling instead of cold bland cafes . The owner, who is also the Baker and with his son, serves the food , are both very nice and polite, and make you feel very welcome entering and leaving the cafe. Would love more meal selections but giving the fact that all the cakes are freshly baked every day and the cafe isn't a big building its probably not possible at the moment but I'm hoping one day this might be possible because every thing this baker makes is excellent and I highly recommend anyone passing by to pop in and treat your self.

As always had an incredibly experience here! Regularly go out of our way to visit. Whole menu is gluten free with vegan options. I had the coronation chicken panini and the battenberg cake and would recommend both 😋

Small cafe which caters for Gluten free, and also had some gluten and dairy free. Great range of teas. Including flowering teas! And matcha green tea. Normal tea and coffee too. I had a chicken tikka panini. It was nice. The millionaires caramel shortbread was delicious, served with cream and berries too. My friends had other items, a scone, flapjack, slice of cake. They all looked lovely. The cafe is fairly small but nice. Very homely and seemed like a traditional style tea shop in some ways. It was dog friendly too but I would suggest if your dog is a larger dog, it may not be best to take them at peak times. Table service. There was only one member of staff working when we went... Good on them, I couldn't have coped doing everything when it was that busy.

Absolutely love this cafe, the home made food is delicious and the service is attentive and friendly. Gluten free is so hard to do and to do it to high standards, as done here, is such an amazing asset to Guisborough.

This is a cafe 100% gluten free dairy free. only have a small collection of food panini soup ect lots cakes seating for about 20 people and fresh coffee. It was busy but still accessible. Cake was gorgeous very moist and not too sweet if lived in the area would come once a week definitely. Great value for money the owner Bruce makes all the cakes on site. He is an amazing chef.

If you are coeliac or are eating out with a coeliac this is a perfect completely gluten free oasis, with no gluten on the premises. As a gluten eater myself, I wouldn't have realised it was gf if I hadn't known. The last time we came across somewhere this good, we were in Aachen!

Best coffee shop in guisbrough by far, lovely friendly and cakes to die for

You won’t find better sweet treats or hot food (all hand made!) anywhere else, and the selection of drinks is non-comparable. Small space but so cosy, a shop with the customer at heart - though when you walk through the door you aren’t just a customer, you’re a friend. Bruce is a true gem, such that his warmth will keep you relaxed and smiling for as long or short as you decide to stay. Many vegan and gluten free options, and furry-friend-friendly too. This is perhaps one of my favourite places in the world.

One word. Superb. The best afternoon tea ever.

Fabulous baked cakes..a little gem in an old, tired market town.

Wow, what a gem in Guisborough. We drove to this market town and was very disappointed, very run down and nothing much to see. Whilst walking back to the car we stumbled upon this delightful cafe, bonus was that dogs were allowed. The coffee was delicious and according to my husband, the Battenburg cake was the nicest he'd ever had.. served with fresh fruit and cream. The gentleman that served us said that he baked all the cakes himself..a true gem, wish we lived nearer! ❤️

We followed the hand written board placed at the top of the high street and at first were hesitant owing to the external decor, however we entered a world of fabulousness. A local, small business with cakes and coffee to die for. We like to support local rather than the large chains. Smartly presented raspberry muffin with cream and fresh fruit; the best cheese scone with accompanying chutney and smooth flavoursome coffee at exactly the right temperature.

It was so good to go to a cafe and know I could anything at all. I was like a kid in a sweet shop! We had a panini (my gluten eating husband said it was excellent). I'd recommend the cheese and ham. And my toddler had the cheese scone with a fruity chutney. And oh.my.god, what a revelation. The scone was better than any I've ever tried. And it went so well with the chutney! I was disappointed my little boy liked it so much because I was willing to steal a lot of that!

We have been trying to support our local independent businesses and I am so glad we have Thingy-Ma-Jigs is a gem, the coffee is really good and the cake is incredible! If you get a chance try their Battenberg which is all homemade and possibly the best cake I have eaten, just ordered a whole one for my husbands 50th Birthday in May. Please give them a try and don't go to the big franchises.

W O W Amazing afternoon tea, presented in boxes, sandwiches wrapped and tied, cakes x 6 (i think!) then a pie, quiche and savoury scone...absolutely fantastic. Thankyou cant recommended enough. P.S photos do not do this justice

We came to this lovely little coffee shop whilst visiting the quaint town of Guisborough..A very clean , dog friendly place to get a bite to eat , lovely panini s quiche and salad , many delicious home made gluten free and vegan cakes and lovely coffee ..Can highly recommend this well run friendly cafe ..Will definitely return .

Very good as always. Very hot latte and pannini.

My panini and my partner's coffee and cake were all very good. The only downside was that we were cold! Despite the temperature being about 9 degrees the outside door was wide open and the only heating appeared to be a small fan heater which I don't think was on. We'll come back in summer!

Having found most coffee shops in the area closed we were delighted to discover that this cafe stays open until 5pm. What’s more it welcomes dogs so we would sit in their comfortable interior rather than having a take out. The coffee was served in good sized cups and well prepared. The cakes were tasty and well presented with fresh fruit and cream on the side. A real find, we will be back.

Wow just wow, the most amazing lunch I've ever had. The entirely GF cafe I've been too. I came to the area to visit family from Derby and as someone with a severe intolerance to gluten this is such an amazing little gem to find. Both my parents are not GF but both enjoyed their food so much that they will be coming back without me as they enjoyed the food so much. The takeaway food we took back has gone down really well too. Perfect little place. Love it!!

Amazing gem of a cafe. Everything is home baked and everything is gluten free and very tasty. Nice for once to enjoy somthing fresh, instead of making do with an over priced prepackaged morsel.

I have visited Thingy Ma Jigs many times before lock down began and have always enjoyed my visit. All the food on the menu is gluten free so no worry of cross contamination which is brilliant as I have coeliac disease. The owner is very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. My favourite are the scones with jam and cream and the Victoria sponge cake which is delicious. The coffee is also lovely.Since lock down I’ve been ordering food to pick up for myself and my parents. This has been the highlight of our week having gluten free quiches, corned beef and potato pie and gluten free cake. This past weekend we ordered 2 gluten free afternoon teas as a treat to pick up and we sat and eat these in the garden. All the food was amazing. You got a selection of cakes, wraps, individual corned beef and pot pies, fruit and cheese scones, sandwiches, drink. The food was presented and packaged beautifully. So pleased I live local to this cafe so can visit often although I think I would happily travel a long way to visit.

Had afternoon tea. Excellent range of loose leaf teas and very good food. Far too much for me to eat in one sitting, so they packed me a doggy bag. Excellent service from very friendly and attentive people. Would recommend to friends.

6 of us read the wonderful reviews and elected to have a variety of paninis. What a disappointment! No garnish whatsoever and a panini slapped on a plate. The fillings were lacklustre and lacking in flavour. The only saving grace was the selection of teas. Our advice.... Visit 'The Bakery' in town. Wonderful!

We are as regular visitors as we can be as this is such a lovely coeliac safe and welcoming coffee shop. Made a special visit for afternoon tea today as it was my daughters birthday. Service was kind, thoughtful and courteous despite it being very very busy . The afternoon tea itself was just perfect, amazing variety, bespoke, and as always tasted great . Thank you so much x

Popped in here today, with my better half. She had a pannini with a pot of tea and I had a cappuccino with a caramel slice, which were delicious.Although the coffee shop was relatively small, there was seating enough for us and it was lovely and cosy. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating to us and the other patrons.We would 100% recommend this place to anybody, gluten intolerant or otherwise. My girlfriend doesn't have any issues with food allergies but even she said everything was delicious!

We have read really good reviews so thought we would try this out whilst in Guisborough The man serving was very unwelcoming and made us feel uncomfortable for visiting to the point we looked at each other and thought should we be in here, we felt like we were putting him outWe did order drinks and cakes and they were amazing just a shame the service didn't match the produceWe felt like we had to eat and leave quickly as we were made to feel awkward for being thereMaybe having an off day?

Visited this cafe last week and we were made to feel very unwelcome. The man serving wasn’t friendly at all, it was as if we were an inconvenience coming in which was a shame because we had heard such great things about this cafe and the cakes looked really tasty. Maybe it was just a busy day but it would have been nice to have a smile/hello from staff.

Visited with Honey the boxer, all made so welcome. Honey was able to stretch out, get in the way and get fussed! we had sweet potato soup which was gorgeous then had THE BEST hot chocolate with brownie and lemon matcha cake both amazing. If you dont visit this little cafe you are crazy!

I've been here around 5 or 6 times now and it's always been consistently excellent. It never disappoints, except for when it's just too busy to get a seat. Lovely relaxing environment, great food, great owner, and a huge plus... dog friendly. Every time I need to come into Guisborough for something, I make sure I pop in for a visit.

Thingy-Ma-Jigs is always an absolute treat for me to visit. The place has a warm and welcoming ambience and the service is second to none. As someone with coeliac, knowing that this place is totally gluten-free and that I really can have anything to eat from the menu is amazing. In fact, it is always so hard to choose from the homemade savoury and sweet treats on offer that I always get some to take away too! I've visited many times and even had one of their wonderful afternoon teas which are available with pre-booking. My family who don't need to eat gluten-free are equally happy to visit (in fact I've just discovered my mum went with a friend and without me!) The only downside for me is that it is 300 miles from where I live but a visit to Thingy-Ma-Jigs is always an absolute must whenever I'm in the area.

Today we had afternoon tea and it was amazing. We pre booked it as that is required. Bruce catered for our allergies, including gluten, egg and pork. He made us feel really special and the food tasted superb. The variety of sandwiches, pastries and cakes were second to non, in fact no other cafe, including some top class ones, can compete and we have tried lots !!
