We tried this restaurant on the recommendation of the manager of the hotel where we were staying. We went on a Friday evening without booking and it was busy. After a short wait they found us a table. The menu is very varied - something there for everyone's taste and appetite. Our order was taken very promptly. For starter we chose the panckes filled with spring onions which came with a dipping sauce. Not pancakes as we would recognise them but still were tasty and hot and a lovely starter before the main course. For main I had chosen the sizzling chicken with mushroom and garlic and it was certainly sizzling when brought to the table! A lovely gesture was that our rice was served for us and then we added the rest as we felt we wanted it. One portion of rice was definitely enough for the two of us! The staff were very friendly and efficient. Overall a very good experience and we would return again if we are ever in the area. In fact we would consider going to other chinese/thai restaurants rather than ordering takeaway.

After a long time since our last visit, we were interested to see how Zen in St Annes compared with our favourite Chinese restaurant in Lytham when we visited for a birthday treat The place was packed when we arrived at 6.30 pm (Always a very sign) and we had to wait a short while to be seated. The décor, welcome and service were excellent and the food was very tasty; it was also good to be able to order pints of Chinese beer (particularly as the wine prices seemed a little steep). Overall very good experience; perhaps the Chinese menu wasn’t as extensive as Chu’s but it made up for this by offering a good choice of Thai food on the menu. Well worth a visit- but book in advance!

Chu's Oriental Cuisine

22/02/2020: Chose the set meal with hot soup, appetisers, duck and main course, but none of the food was exceptional- in fact the soup was probably the best course. The young male waiter was pleasant and helpful but the others were dour and surly. Each course was cleared and the next brought very quickly as though the wanted us to leave quickly. Not offered coffee or desserts and at almost £70 to include two beers, it was far from being a special meal.
23/12/2019: A really good quality meal. We went in on the Monday before Christmas and, while the restaurant was fully booked, we had an excellent banquet meal served very effectively and not expensive.
