Excellent service. We had a waitress with blonde hair. She was super nice and friendly with the dog. Our service was spot on. The food was amazing. The atmosphere was amazing. You are not sat too close to other tables. Toilets are super clean. I would recommend people to book in advance. We will be back again on a regular basis when we come to bakewell. They have a special area for people with dogs. Dogs must be friendly to make it enjoyable for everyone else.

Absolutely love this restaurant. Its a lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and really helpful but most of all the food is amazing. I'm gluten and dairy intolerant and there are several choices. We always share the nachos starter, it's so good. I had the mushroom risotto and my husband had the seafood linguine. They were both delicious. We've been 3 times before and every time we enjoyed our visit and food. Highly recommend.

A hidden gem nestled in the heart of Derbyshire's Peak District, The Woodyard is housed in a historic building which exudes character and charm with its exposed brick walls, wooden beams, and cozy atmosphere. The interior is tastefully decorated, with rustic touches that complement the building's heritage. The menu offers a wide range of options to suit every palate. From hearty British classics like steak and ale pie and roast dinners to more contemporary dishes like gourmet burgers and seasonal salads. Locally sourced ingredients are a highlight, showcasing the best of Derbyshire's produce. Recently had the pleasure of trying the fish and chips, and I must say, it was a truly delightful experience. The fish was incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked, with a crispy golden batter that added just the right amount of crunch. Each mouthful was bursting with flavor, and the portion size was incredibly generous. The chips were cooked to perfection – crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside – and the mushy peas were a delicious accompaniment. The ambiance of The Woodyard only added to the experience. The cozy interior and friendly staff made me feel right at home, and I couldn't have asked for better service. It's clear that the team at The Woodyard takes pride in what they do, and it shines through in every aspect of the dining experience.

Nice little find great for glutton dietary

It's a really lovely place. Great food and we were very well looked after by Sophie. We were a big group celebrating a family birthday and they did so much to make it special despite the fact that we only booked in the morning. Would highly recommend.

Excellent starters and mains, food was so tasty. Service was great. Great gluten and dairy free options. Dog friendly venue.

Great looking menu, although we only went in for a few sandwiches. Comes in really fresh bread that's not half a foot thick. Reasonably priced, other dishes around looks great. Also dog friendly which is a bonus.

Visited the woodyard on the 11th March for food. Felt very welcome when we arrived the staff were all so friendly. The food was absolutely amazing and very good value for money. Would definitely return again if we are back in the local area.

This is a lovely place, I phoned them the day before to see if they were dog friendly. The lady who answered the phone was very friendly and helpful. When we got there for lunch the welcome and service was brilliant. Definitely recommended and will be going back again

We have been a few times now and have always been met with a warm greeting. The food is great and served by conscientious and helpful staff.

We managed to get here at the third time of asking after Covid and snow nixed previous efforts. Glad we persisted it was well worth the journey. Ideally located right next to one of the main car parks the building had a really warm welcoming look from the outside and the interior didn't disappoint. A warm friendly welcome, seated right next to the log burner, what could go wrong? Answer: nothing. Drinks arrived promptly and food orders taken. The food was very good indeed, freshly prepared and presented really well. It arrived quickly although we were never rushed, the service was polite and unobtrusive, staff obviously very well trained, the whole experience everything we could ask for on a cold evening in March. A top mention for the Hake fillet special well worth investigating- pan fried fillet on roast small potatoes with red cabbage and samphire in a lemon mussel sauce. Brilliant. Dessert- warmed Bakewell tart (what else?) with vanilla ice cream topped it all off. We (4) left very happy people. We'll be back well done to the owners and the team.

Dined here last week whilst staying in Bakewell. The service, food and atmosphere were lovely could not fault anything. The waiter who served us was very attentive and recommended the Sea Bass which was beautiful. If you’re staying in Bakewell try this place out I would highly recommend.

We visited on a Saturday at lunchtime and the restaurant was very full. The drinks were brought promptly but we had to wait almost an hour for our food to be brought. We asked if it was possible for the risotto to be cooked without asparagus but were told that it is precooked so alterations could not be made. I assume this is also the case for the homity pie as both of ours were very dry. The sauce was no longer in existence and the leeks very difficult to find. It was basically a pie packed full of garlic flavoured potato. Personally l was very disappointed and left quite a bit, my daughter likes garlic and potato so didn't mind so much, but there was no sauce evident at all in either pie. My father was brought a full fish and chips meal instead of the lite bite he'd requested, the mound of food over faced him and he felt embarrassed leaving so much food. Having waited so long for any food we just ate what we were given rather than returning it. A rather disappointing meal and experience sadly. I appreciate they were busy but perhaps this isn't the place for us.

Amazing meal here, great selection of gluten free options, really nice atmosphere. Will definitely be returning, served by a young guy who couldn’t have done more for us, welcoming, friendly and gave excellent service.

The service and food were excellent, all served at correct temperatures. The only downside today was a restricted wine list as Marston’s aren’t supplying and there was no movement in price, which I sort of understood but previously there would have been a compromise. Birthday dinner and nice we had a banner and table decorations but again used to a little desert/candle. Not sure we’d return but we’ll see!

We came here for Valentine’s Day, and loved it so much we came again 2 days later! The food was cooked perfectly both times & so tasty - the pulled pork burger is one of the nicest I’ve had :) The staff are all so lovely too - Katie B was our waitress first time & Alex was our waiter second, so great & so attentive! We’ll definitely be back when staying in Bakewell again 🥰

We had a lovely anniversary meal at the Woodyard. The food was excellent and the staff took such good care of us. Shout-out to Katie A. for being so warm and friendly and helping to make our night special. Thank you also to the whole team for the extra thoughtful touches including the table decorations and complimentary glass of Prosecco. We will definitely be coming back!

Lovely food, nice atmosphere, will come back again 👍 have often walked past on the way into Bakewell, and to be honest we were missing out. Really enjoyed it here.

Had an amazing dinner there tonight, food was delicious and very generous portions. Nice selection on non-alcoholic drinks and great, attentive staff. Will definitely be back!

First time visiting the service was spot on and the food was delicious will be returning

Menu choices met the special needs of our family. The children’s meals were served first and they were given coloring pages and sharpened colored pencils when they finished eating. The fish and chips and lamb duo were very good. Our server Alex went out of his way to make sure each of us was satisfied.

Staff were lovely but this was the worst pizza I've ever eaten. The vegan cheese was absolutely revolting, the crust was thin, under baked and crispy - the pizzas were barely edible. Would really benefit from investing in better quality ingredients!!

The Woodyard in Bakewell is the place to be for any occasion. The staff are friendly, efficient and nothing is too much trouble. The food is superb with an excellent range on the menu. I would recommend booking at it does get busy.

Great food and service from Katie B. Lovely atmosphere with no wait. Burgers were amazing. The Nachos are huge so save plenty of room.

As far as lunch sandwiches go I would rate this on the lower end of the scale. “Some assembly required” is not what I imagine when I order a fish finger sandwich. The table was also wobbly which made for an interesting nautical experience as we rushed to catch our sailing glasses.

A fabulous place. And a separate Vegan menu. Will most definitely be back.

Absolutely fantastic , can’t speak higher of this place , we booked a table here for my wife’s 30th last Sunday , the staff were so welcoming and service was brilliant , we had 3 kids , 4 adults and a dog with us and we were made to feel really welcome , food was really lovely and they even braught us out a cake we had pre baught for them for pudding , couldn’t recommend it more and we will be back soon 😌

Called in yday. 7/2/24 for my wife’s bday .On arrival we were seated straight away with friendly greetings. My wife had the pork fillet and I had the pie of the day.which was piggy pie. Everything was cooked to perfection and freshly made especially the mustard mash We really enjoyed the food and surroundings and my wife even had a dessert which is rare Was served by a bubbly and attentive server called Katie B she was brill. Would highly recommend and will be returning

Great food, great atmosphere, great staff, great price. Would definitely recommend! We dined on a Tuesday & Wednesday at 6pm without a reservation at whilst staying in Bakewell however on both nights, even out of season, we noticed all tables were filling up by 7pm so probably best reserving a table is eating later.

Booked for my 80th birthday , special appropriate decorations on the table were much appreciated . Our server was attentive and the food - generous portions - and the wine were faultless . The excellent dessert freely given with candle was gratefully accepted - perhaps 80 candles would have brought the fire brigade ! We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening at a very reasonable cost . This was our second visit and was just as excellent as the first. Everything from the initial email enquiry to the food to the table service from Jade was first rate. My son has to have a gluten free menu and was amazed at the choice available. Thanks for a very enjoyable afternoon.

An extremely pleasant restaurant. Great environment, lots a space between the tables. The staff were knowledgeable, knew exactly what each menu item comprised and were discreet, helpful and polite. It was judt the right balance of service. Will definitely visit again.

Excellent food in a very lovely setting

We hadn't planned to come here but had headed to Bakewell as we were nearby. We Googled places to eat and saw a photo of the outside of The Woodyard which looked nice. Without reading any reviews we headed there. What a treat! The staff were extremely welcoming and personable, the food was reasonably priced (and quite possibly the best burger I've ever eaten) and the atmosphere was perfect. Our server Alex was amazing. Another lady took us to our seat but I forgot her name, she was great too! Thanks for the experience 👍

What a brilliant place to eat . Service is great , all the waitresses smiled and were welcoming. I liked it so much I went there on 3 occasions on this visit to Bakewell . In particular Jade and Katie were brilliant . I went in my own the first night and felt very looked after , the remaining nights I went with a friend who loved the ambience and cosy feeling in the restaurant too.. and the food was delicious.. especially the sea bass !

So so good! Their lamb duo was to die for! And their mint mushed peas were absolutely delicious! Can’t recommend them enough! Staff was so kind and the atmosphere was wonderful!

This is a really lovely restaurant, with great food and friendly staff. There is a great selection of food and drink, including alcohol free beers and cocktails/mocktails. We were a little chilly in the corner, and there is a lovely looking fire that I'm sure warms the place up. My only negative is that we weren't offered a vegan menu. We were recommended Woodyard because it had vegan options, but we were only asked about allergies, which we had none. As there were vegan options on the main menu I assumed they were the only ones, but was disappointed to discover that despite ordering a vegan option, I wasn't informed of or offered the full, extensive vegan menu.

Came for our regular pre-Christmas meet with friends and yet again The Woodyard did not disappoint. Food, service & atmosphere were excellent. Everything from the starter to dessert was delicious, beautifully presented and superb value for money (definitely a consideration at present.) Can highly recommend to anyone wondering where to eat in Bakewell. We would not consider anywhere else.

Lovely, quaint and cosy restaurant. Seating plan and layout was very spaced and atmosphere very ambient.The building i believe dates back to the 1800s it has been tastefully converted to marry contemporary with original features. All staff were attentive and courteous. The food was tasty,,good quality and presentation was perfect. We are definately back here in the New Year to try the pizzas !!

Love this place , excellent service lovely restaurant with an impressive glass floor so you can see the stream , it's a little hard to see at the moment maybe a diamond polish might sort that out . Book to avoid disappointment this place can get very busy, The photo's added were just before the evening rush . The Sea bass was a first choice for me , very nice , My daughter had belly pork and went down a treat , the vegan wellington and turkey dinner were both winners . All the food coming out looked great especially the burgers and pizza. Nice also in the summer as you can sit outside . Well worth a visit but try and book just in case ..lovely fire to warm us right up , Above five stars very nice ..

Just been to this great venue again. Second time here in as many months as was visiting the area. Very accommodating and faultless service. Drinks service was a level above too. Great experience and will be back when next local.

Funny place, it's a really nice place, staff are very friendly not over helpful in a good way, if you know what I mean, but the food could have been a bit better, it was nice and tasty ,you got a good portion, not many options for a Christmas menu, which was a shame,

Nice meal after a long day out. Homity pies were great and I was able to take my leftovers home as the portions were huge! Too full for dessert unfortunately. Great options for cocktails and the mocktails were also excellent so didn't feel like you were missing out as the driver. Christmas decs were lovely, but it was very cold!

Fantastic mains .. four of us all chose different main courses and all were delicious we did want to have pudding however it was so cold and draughty, the fire had gone out and we were freezing two of my friends were sat in their coats so we unfortunately decided to not stay .. such a shame

Myself and 2 friends were staying in Bakewell overnight and we went back to the Woodyard for a meal which we have done many times, and as ever everything was lovely and good value too. The staff are delightful and very attentive. Thanks again hope to see you soon

Visited the Woodyard today for lunch after a morning at Haddon Hall Christmas market. This was the first time we have been here and certainly won’t be the last. The service and food was excellent from start to finish, a must visit if in Bakewell.

We were staying in Bakewell and were looking for somewhere with vegan options for friends that we were with. We found this restaurant and booked it at short notice that evening. Not only was there an unusually huge choice for our vegan friends (apart from the usual burger or curry) but on arrival our table was decorated as we mentioned when booking that it was a birthday celebration. All of the staff were naturally friendly and attentive and the food was absolutely delicious with a great choice. Can't wait to return when we are back in the area. It was a great find and would certainly recommend.

Lovely cosy/impressive surroundings. Very extensive and varied menu catering for gluten free allergy. Food is exceptional, served nice and hot on hot plates!! Service is good. I just wish this restaurant was in my home town.

Very good meal on a Sunday evening. Between the three of us, we had a lovely pulled pork and goats cheese pizza, a Sunday roast, and some perfectly cooked and presented sea bass. Great meal, would definitely come back again

Had a lovely family meal here. All the food ordered was piping hot and delicious. Our table ordered fish & chips, pie, burger and a pork dish. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The pastry of the pie was beautiful, crisp and buttery. Excellent portion size. The restaurant also seems to be hot on allergies, which is good to find. All the staff were very pleasant, good humoured andgreat at their roles. The only reason for 4 stars on atmosphere was because our table area was a little chilly, being close to the entrance. However further inside there was a lovely log burner. We would definitely return 🙂

When I pre-booked the restaurant via telephone, I was asked if it was a special occasion. I mentioned the couple we were visiting with were celebrating their 53rd wedding anniversary. The four of us were warmly greeted on our arrival by very smiley, young members of staff, and shown to our table. The table was adorned with a "Happy Anniversary" banner, which was a very thoughtful surprise. When ordering our drinks, 2 glasses of proseco were offered for free to the anniversary couple, (another really nice touch). Our starters and main courses were of excellent quality, and served by very attentive, young, smiley, happy staff, all of which are a credit to their generation and the Woodyard. We visited on what we thought would be a quiet Monday evening, how wrong we were, the restaurant was almost full. So glad we had pre-booked the week before. Thank you to every staff member, including the kitchen staff for a fabulous evening.

Met up with friends for dinner. All four different means were exceptional. Our waitress Hannah was very friendly and efficient We all had a great evening and I would highly recommend this restaurant .

Spent an enjoyable couple of hours, having a late lunch with my eldest grandson who I’d not seen for a while. There’s quite a lot of choice on the menu which always makes me suspicious that the food is frozen. However, frozen or not, I enjoyed my sea bass fillets and salad, although the sea bass itself was not overly large. At £19, I felt that the portion size should have been bigger. By contrast, my grandson’s serving of mushroom penne pasta was large and he didn’t manage to finish it. The riverside setting is lovely and, because the weather was fine, we sat outside in the garden area. Service was excellent so a big thank you to James for looking after us. Overall, we enjoyed the food and I would happily return.

Delicious, creative & fresh (mainly local) ingredients in a cosy and relaxing environment. We returned twice to enjoy the wonderful food during our short stay (4 days 3 nights) at Bakewell. Best “lamb duo” we ever had in our lifetime! Highly recommended.

This is a genuinely lovely place. Very welcoming, the staff are friendly and professional. Now the food, very nice indeed, well presented and piping hot, delicious. Just one itsybitsy tiny comment...portions are very large so you need to be very hungry 😋 but a really good quality restaurant, highly recommend.

There’s a lot of competition in Bakewell but this is definitely the place to eat. We had a late lunch there after a walk in the Peak District.Both myself and my husband had the Duo of lamb - beautifully cooked and presented. Excellent professional service. Can’t fault this place.

The quality, quantity and presentation of the food was of the highest standard which was evidenced by all clean plates. We visited twice in a three day visit to Bakewell, once for lunch and once for an early dinner. On both occasions we had a superb meal with great service. Alex was so helpful and understanding regarding my husband’s dietary requirements. Service was excellent and very attentive. The food portions were very good and delicious, everything cooked to perfection. We will definitely be returning on our next visit to the Peak District. Keep it up!!!

Great food, fitted a table if 6 if us in on a Saturday lunch time when we haven't booked we were very lucky. Will definitely return when we are next in the area.

I came in for a Sunday lunch earlier this year and was greeted warmly and seated quickly. The quality of the food and value for money was excellent and I was very well looked after by Jade who was friendly and went out of her way to look after my needs. This is a great restaurant in a lovely setting and I look forward to a return visit!
