Friendly staff, great food, good and happy atmosphere! Will certainly return!

Visited here today for a family birthday and was really impressed by the quality of service and food. Their créme bruleé is one of the best I've ever had!

First time here, car park can get busy with odd parking spaces. Very friendly staff and very clean. Good choice of food with specials all served quite quickly and very hot. Reasonable prices. Mon to thurs it closes at 3pm to get ready for the evening, open all day fri to sun. Will visit again.

Went for a big birthday meal with the family and wow, what brilliant service and brilliant food!! The roast dinner was huge. It was really busy but service was superb 👌 can't wait to come back again; fantastic job too all concerned.

This was my first visit here and we wasnt disappointed. The roast dinner was the best i've had in years, even the roasted carrots were divine and cooked to perfection. Will definitely go again soon

A family member booked our table & what a great choice. A large array of dishes, gluten free options very good choice. Food was freshly prepared & all home cooked & was delicious. Staff were attentive, welcoming & friendly highly recommended. It was very busy so I would book ahead if possible.

Went there for lunch today, the food was amazing I literally couldn’t fault it, huge compliments to the chefs. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be going back to this place.

The service is always good here, prices are not cheap, but sensible. Whilst we had a couple of little niggles with our meals, the service was excellent by friendly staff and we shall certainly be returning. Thanks all!

Visited in May ‘23 and I must say it was the best meal we had in our 3 weeks of travel! Hubby had the special vegetarian menu and I had my own gluten free menu! Was absolutely superb and the cosy vibe was just what we wanted from an English pub. If you’re in the area, please go, you won’t be disappointed!

Went there for a Sunday Roast or the 1st time last week. Even though we arrive quite late (7pm) and their kitchen was about to close, they still made us a nice roast dinner. Beef was tender! We are definitely going back again.

We went here for a wedding rehearsal dinner and it was great! Loved the atmosphere and the food was very good. I got the Fender Sampler which had just about everything on the menu. Don't worry, I didn't eat it all and it was more than enough to share around.

Superb food and friendly service. We came here to get some rest and have dinner before we took a night ferry from Harwich and absolutely enjoyed it. Even on a weekday it was pretty full so it's advisable to book a table in advance. My wife had a Caesars Salad and I had their fish stew. Both portions were absolutely delicious and big, we didn't even manage a dessert afterwards. Easy parking directly next to the Pub and they also have a garden to the back to sit outside if the weather is nice.

Took a sunday drive out for a random lunch and decided to swiftly pop in and see if Wooden Fender could accommodate us. We was met with a very warm welcome and although very busy they very kindly squeezed us in. The food was amazing along with the service and great atmosphere with no clicky feel that you can sometimes come across. I had the wild salmon and my partner had the roast beef. We will DEFINITELY be returning for more and highly recommend 👌

I visited The Wooden Fender last night with a group of friends. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and the food was lovely. However, I felt that the dining area was very bright and noisy and I was disappointed that there was only 1 vegetarian meal on the menu. Luckily I enjoyed it!

Came yesterday for a family Sunday lunch. It was very good, as usual. This was our third visit since the Summer, inspite of us living 45 miles away. The food is always hot, nicely presented with plenty of choice. This is a very clean, COVID aware pub/restaurant. The toilets are very clean. Prices are very reasonable with good portion sizes. All the staff are very friendly and polite. Plenty of free parking. Recommended

We’ve Just returned from a wonderful lunch for my birthday. Although it was busy, the service was outstanding, the food arrived quickly and was cooked to perfection. The enthusiastic staff really were a delight and are a great asset this wonderful establishment.

First time here, recommended by a very good friend. We were not disappointed… managed to fit in a whole 3 courses and every one of them was superb. That, along with the most excellent service… what more can you ask… we will definitely be back! Thank you to all the team!

I've not been to the wooden fender for a while since it's changed hands and what a wonderful surprise I had ,the food was absolutely wonderful well presented and very tasty .The staff were so lovely and very polite it was a good outing all round will be back , thank you

We booked a table to ensure we could get in as we were staying in Dedham for a few days. When we arrived at the Wooden Fender we were greeted by a very warm friendly man who checked our booking and took us straight to our table Number 1.They have plastic screens between tables so very organised for COVID. The man explained the main menu and the specials and gave us time to study snd decide what to order. The drinks were delivered very promptly and then our food order was taken. Our starter arrived very quickly and I had belly pork bites and my husband had Garlic Prawns and both were presented so well, hot and delicious. There was not much time waiting for our mains of for me Scampi and chips and my husband Whole Dover sole, potatoes and veg and again presentation was 2nd to none and both hot and scrummy. We both decided to have desserts of Ferrero Brownie and Raspberry and White chocolate Bakewell with custard....well what can I say....presentation excellent again, hot and tasted amazing.The staff were very attentive and the man who took care of us (the only person in a white shirt as the others were in black) was so polite and made sure we were happy and satisfied throughout. I would strongly recommend eating here because of the service, presentation and quality of the food and value for money.If we return to the area again we will most definitely return.

Visited Wednesday afternoon for first time without booking knew was on to winner when car park crowded. Was shown to table in garden no complaints lovely sunny day. Food can only be described as superb I had my go to fish and chips but definitely had food envy for my wife blue cheese steak salad. Will without a doubt return great food and excellent service a gem for Ardleigh wish it was on my doorstep.

Visited the Wooden Fender bank holiday Sunday and it was lovely. My partner and I both had a main and a dessert which were delicious. Food was really good quality and not on the mean side. Great value for money and the staff were really attentive and friendly. Would highly recommend.

Had a family meal for 4, first visit here though had been trying to get there for a while, well worth the wait, Busy buzzing atmosphere, felt safe as not over crowded and screens between tables. Staff were exemplary and knowledgeable, food was a reasonable price for the quality,great menu and fast service, could not fault our visit and will certainly go back

Visited last evening with my wife ( Aug 22) for Sunday dinner , and was pleasantly surprised by the prompt and friendly greeting , and the joined- up levels of service .All the staff we encountered were well trained , and proactive .The roast dinners ( beef and pork) were of good quality and substantial in size .The vegetables ( roast potatoes , parsnips , broccoli and carrots ) were all cooked to perfection , and the side order of cauliflower cheese was also delicious .Would highly recommend .

The Wooden Fender is a newly refurbished restaurant offering indoor and outdoor seating. It is clean, spacious and has great parking facilities. The menu is perfect no too big but still offers a great variety of dishes.Children will feel very welcome and you will feel relaxed having them with you. Staff are top class.

Was recommended this place and I must say what a wonderful place it is. Went late Sunday afternoon and it was very busy. Staff were excellent very friendly which makes good service. Menu had lots of choices and we all really enjoyed our food and very good prices. The only downside were the amount of flies I know it was a warm damp day and windows were open but it was very unpleasant to keep fanning flies away which I will say did ruin the day a little bit and then you get to wonder if they are also in the kitchen area. Overall very enjoyable and will be back

Considering we gave them such a short notice period they managed to fit in eleven of us for a Sunday evening meal. The menu was outstanding, the food was great and the service was excellent. It has been many years since we last visited the place but I can assure everyone it will be on the top of my list for future visits.If you have never tried it - you really need to. I had the traditional Sunday lunch and I have to say it was probarly one of the best I have ever eaten.Nothing was too much trouble for the guys and girls. Even the cost was reasonable and well worth every penny.Well done to all at the Wooden Fender

I don’t usually write reviews, but we had a lovely meal I thought I would share. The food was amazing. My husband said that’s the best food he’s had in ages. We would 100% go back with the family. We took the dog and she loved being able to run around with her ball as it’s all picket fences and gated. (Also it was quiet at the time we went).

Fantastic food. One of our favourite places for a family lunch! I love the full rack of ribs - very tasty and very filling!

We were looking for somewhere for a beer and sandwich lunch having done a bike ride around Manningtree. Stumbled across the Wooden Fender by chance.My husband spotted the sharing plates on the menus and we opted for 6 of these. Really tasty and it was very pleasant sat in the garden to eat. Excellent service and a nicely presented pub. Will come back

Booked a table for 4 and was very impressed with the layout, the friendliness of the staff and the 4 delicious and well presented main meals and desserts.

We have visited several times for lunches and dinners, and they have all been superb, Sunday lunch in particular is a favorite. Food is plentiful, well cooked and looks so appetising too. Staff are very friendly, and nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommend.

I visited last night with two family members, for a sunday roast and it did not disappoint! Our table was booked for 6:30pm so I was a little worried that the roast dinners would have sold out as happens in most other places, but they had everything available on the menu.The portions were more than enough and the gravy was so tasty. Not to mention, the service was so friendly and welcoming. The pub also has a large outdoor seating area which will be great for a sunny day. We all enjoyed our meals very much and can't wait to visit again in the near future

My husband & I called in on the off chance as we were passing through & were allocated a table. What a lovely experience it's a really welcoming place, the food was really lovely, all the staff were so friendly and helpfull, we would definitely recommend this place as its one of the nicest pubs we've ever eaten in and would definitely go back again.
