The Wishing Well in South Ayrshire

Heard from my daughter the wishing well is fab.But on two seperate occasions I've ordered online for my granddaughter and myself,my orders have been accepted,I've been charged then my orders were cancelled and having to wait a few days for a refund,leaving my grand daughter and i dissapointed,wont order online again.😔

Service poor and when asked if everything ok said so. Staff argued back. Never go again. Wouldn’t recommend to any one. Excuse for slow service delivery orders take priority.

I love coming here whenever I'm in Ayr. The food is always fresh and cooked to perfection. It's a very friendly place. The girls who work there are so welcoming and helpful. I've not found somewhere as good in London or anywhere else. Amazing and excellent service

Have been to wishing well quite a few times and it’s always been excellent. Today myself and two friends went … not so good . I ordered Prawn sandwiches - no butter or margarine as I prefer it without. One friend ordered half portion of fish and chips and other friend ordered coronation chicken baguette . Anyway owner came out and said they had no prawns I said no problem I will have tuna instead . Tuna sandwiches came out with butter or Margarine on them great looking sandwiches bursting with Tuna wish I had just ate them . Anyway said to waitress I ordered sandwiches without butter or Margarine She took them back then came out with another plate of sandwiches with hardly any tuna on them ! Instead of sending them back again I ate the bits of sandwich that had Tuna on in which was not a lot . Made a complaint when we were leaving which didn’t go down too well Waitress just said there’s £3 knocked off your bill . 91 year old friend that had half portion of fish and chips got a burnt piece of frozen fish , frozen chips ( overdone ) and peas she could hardly cut the fish. Needless to say we won’t be back . Wish I had taken photographs

Love the wishing well! Colleagues recommended it and went for the Cajun chicken pasta, so beautiful! Absolutely delicious and comes with garlic bread. Great staff, nice location and their desert's are beautiful too!

Went here today for the first time and it won’t be the last Food is excellent as is presentation. Best coffee I have had in such a long time Staff are excellent.

Not much room in here but the food was amazing. We visited when usual staff were on holiday so things were not how they would usually run according to staff so will definitely be back for another try

First visit to this hidden gem for a mid morning late breakfast. Quality ingredients cooked to perfection and the cappuccino coffee was top notch. Staff are friendly and efficient. Wishing Well is now added to our list of favourite places in Ayr to return for brekky/lunch.

Went to the wishing well today for lunch and to be honest I was quite disappointed. The food was OK but very pricey. The 2 girls serving seemed nice enough but weren't very experienced and looked like they didn't want to be there. What really surprised me was the amount of people they turned away as they focused on delivery's instead. We were told there was a 30 minute wait for food but by the time we left 90 minutes later they'd stopped cooking for diners altogether for at least an hour. I really don't think that's good business at all. The last time I went to the wishing well the food was great, reasonably priced and customers were welcomed like friends. Its a shame its changed.

Food was lovely, do not agree with the way the older staff spoke to the younger girls in there, I understand that they may be young and get a couple of things wrong but they were rude and ignorant. Won’t be back

I was here on the 5th of November and it's even better if I do say so maself 😊 Lovely wee cafe, with lovely staff. Breakfast is served warm and with toast. Lovely latte ..twice! Well worth the money. Yi cany beat the aroma of fresh coffee...lush!

The food was amazing. The chicken and rice soup with bread was great. I had steak pie with chips and my partner had chilli with chips and rice. Will definitely be back to try something else.

Ordered a buffet for a family celebration. It was amazing, delicious wraps, sandwiches, salads, a selection of warm nibbles & a fruit platter. The Cajun pasta was a bit hit with our friends. I would highly recommend The Wishing Well for a buffet, totally takes the pressure off when someone else does the catering! Thanks so much.

I ordered a platter of mixed sandwiches to be delivered to my house today. The sandwiches and wraps were so delicious and everything was so fresh. I can highly recommend this cafe and the very reliable delivery service to any customers wanting to try it. Thank you!

We eat here when we're in the area and the food and atmosphere are great. On our recent visit they had changed the sandwiches to ordinary sliced bread when before it was crusty/homemade. We enjoyed our lunch as always but please think about bringing the crusty bread back as it was something special.

First time visiting the place and I cannot speak highly enough about it! Food was spot on and the staff were an absolute delight!!

We had a family lunch for Valentine's Day and it was just lovely. Staff so very helpful and the food lovely. I was with my husband. Daughter. And. Granddaughter.All enjoyed a relaxed tasty lunch together. Would recommend the restaurant to anyone.

Wishing Well was busy when we arrived, our first visit in a while. Ordered our food, couple of toasties and soup, so nothing that you would think would take that long to arrive. After 30 minutes of trying to keep our starving 2 year old entertained we said to the young lady behind the counter about our long wait. After a visit to the kitchen she returned to say our order slip had gone missing. While they did offer to make it for us there and then, by this time my lunch hour from work was almost over, so we had to leave.I am really disappointed with this. The Wishing Well was always a go to place of ours, however it looks like standards have slipped under the new owners, and sadly we won't be back.Maybe if they concentrated a bit more on the customers who were actually sitting in the restaurant rather than racing through takeway orders who seemed to be the priority, somebody would have actually noticed that we had been sitting for ages with no food. We can't fault the young lady behind the counter - she seemed to be rushed off her feet. Maybe a second pair of hands wouldn't have gone a miss!

My daughter has already written a review about our experience yesterday. I am really annoyed about the way we’re treated. The food here is always nice but the pathetic attitude of a member of staff is totally unacceptable. What I find more distressing is this female tweeting she had to put customers out and told them not to come back. They deserved it and her mum agreed with her. What an absolute insult. She is totally deluded. We most definitely will not set foot there again. Can I say we left on our own accord after having a bundle of menus thrown down on the table, that was the last resort. Such a shame.

So this morning we had our weekly visit to the wishing well when my mum suggested it myself and my daughter said can we not go somewhere else.,The girl that works in there has really bad attitude we all ordered the same thing easy bla bla bla x4 well she shouted at us saying one at a time, then she slammed out drinks down . She then cleared half of the table I had to ask to get the rest cleared. There’s been other occasions when we’ve been to early for lunch and she wouldn’t give us the lunch menu just the breakfast but we always go back and put it down to inexperienced and she has a lot of manners to learn. Today how ever we walked in no another person in the place she looked at us we got a dirty look and I got 3 menus flung down in front of me at that point my mum said I’m not putting up with her attitude today. We got up and walked out my daughter felt she had to raise the issue by telling the girl about her attitude and well omg she started shouting and swearing threatening us .. she was right in my face shouting about her mum being in hospital telling us to get f”””ing out her shop .. people walking past asked if we where all right I said I’m going to phone the police. When we went outside we could still here her shouting and swearing telling the other member of staff. I have never experienced anything like it in my life . I have also watched her pouring used jugs of milk back into the container and one day she was looking at something in the toilet with cutlery in her hand. I feel sorry for her mum trying to run a business with that girl infact I always tell people about outside catering they do but I will be telling people different stuff now. After my wee mummy (74) got over all this I took her across to the Tudor we had a lovely lunch and will definitely be returning there from now on

We often pop in here for lunch. 2 types of homemade soup and a sandwich. Very good. Also have hot dishes and filled rolls. Everything is very fresh and it is an excellent place instead of usual busy chain restaurants.

We were recommended this little cafe by the mobility shop around the corner and were very happy we came. We had soup and sandwiches (of different kinds) and we were all happy. The soup was hot and tasty, definitely homemade, the sandwich fillings generous and good quality. My mother in law is in a wheelchair and we had no problems getting in and sitting at a table and there is a clean and accessible loo. Very friendly and I would definitely recommend this cafe too.

Just ordered for the first time and it defo won't be the last! Very reasonably priced, delivery was fast and cheery and the food was lush! Gonna be my go-to lunch place from now on! Yum!

We called into Wishing Well with me having been once before with a friend. Both of us had wrap/panini's and homemade soup. A quick, reasonable, well priced lunch. Friendly staff!

Wee gem of a place up the Cow Wynd off Alloway St. Came highly recommended and it didn’t disappoint. New owners in the last year and although I loved it then too, the standard of food has got even better, and they have completely modernised it. A welcoming and pleasant experience.

Used JustEat a few times and food is always fresh and hot. Delivery driver is lovely and always takes care of the order - which makes a big difference!

My family and I were very please to have found the wishing well! It had been recommended highly by a few of my friends and I just had to try. Menu selection was fantastic, had something for every mood from light bites to diet meals and main meals. I had gorgeous lentil soup and a half filled baguette with ham salad in it... DELICIOUS! My husband said the coffee was excellent too! The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming and kind, I had a lovely conversation with one of the owners, the other owner that works in the kitchen was too busy for a conversation but she was still nice enough to say hello as she was rushing through to grab something.

Good small cafe offering a good choice of deli combos, home made soup and main meals. Good choice of cakes and drinks as well.

My partner called to check up on our order, was hung up on, he called back, complained and got hung up on again. We don't make a habit off getting in to grievances with food places so were very shocked to be treated this way entirely un-provoked. Will be warning people to stay away

Ordered from just eat and wasn’t sure I had done it correctly so phoned them up to ask them nicely if they could check my order. The first disrespectful girl told me she was too busy to deal with me so passed me to a second disrespectful woman named ‘Liz’. Liz told me she was too busy to find out for me and LITERALLY hung up the phone on me! I called back to be answered then by the first disrespectful girl again to vent my frustration, was met with abuse and hung up on AGAIN. I tried to call back again but they kept hanging up on me. I’m surprised this place is still running if this is how they treat customers.

I come in to the wishing well quite often foods good clean wee cafe love the slimming meals but I can honestly say I will never be back. Took my friend in the other day there was a table of 4sitting my friend and I and another cple came in just behind us(so not busy) we asked for the lunch menu as it was just after 11.30 the young and very nice waitress proceeded into the kitchen and was met with a hurl of abuse from the owner/cook to say she was screaming and swearing at the young girl wld be a large understatement the language was vile. She would of put gordon Ramsey to shame. She called the young girl for everything because she the owner hadn’t even got the f@*~ing soup ready and any lunches wldnt be leaving the kitchen for half an hr. I honestly have never been more disgusted and embarrassed at this behaviour, I felt so sorry for the young girl. Needless to say we left along with the other table. The one remaining table had just got there food or they wld of left as well. States on menu breakfast ends at 11.30 and lunch starts. I really do hope this young girl finds another job as this has to be the worst form of bullying in a workplace I have ever witnessed

Great place to eat great staff so friendly

Food excellent as usual, been coming here for years. Friendly staff. Well worth a visit. Change of owners, wasn't impressed, rather disorganised, back in 4 months later, had a chicken curry and chips, very bland with 4 tiny pieces of chicken, my wife asked for steak pie mash and veg, no mash no veg, only chips. Heard them tell other customers that didn't have what they wanted and couldn't make some items on the menu as the chef who would make them was off. Won't be back

Opened about 6 months ago and my partner's hairdresser tipped Maureen off about this excellent place for breakfast and lunch menus.

Visited this little gem today following a recommendation from a friend. Restaurant is spotless with modern decor and very comfy seating.The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The menu had a good breakfast selection, my wife had French toast and bacon and I had the house breakfast accompanied by coffees. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and was surprised at how little is cost. We will definitely return.

I had been here a handful of times in the past and it has always been good. This was my first visit for some time and if anything it's even better! I had been to the doctors to get some blood taken so I had fasted and boy was I ready for breakfast! This didn't disappoint, ample portion including haggis....nice touch, and a pot of tea for not a lot of money.
