Brilliant!! Fantastic room with the biggest bed I've ever seen! Courtyard, perfect for the dog to explore. Brilliant meal and the best haddock and chips I've EVER had. Good wine, sensibly priced too. Amazing staff who were polite and attentive. Thanks so much #teamwinningpost - brilliant!!!!!

Being new to the area we are still very much taking recommendations for nice places to eat, and this was one that was recommended to us. We booked for quite a late table, and when we arrived the table was not set up yet, but it only took a couple of minutes. It was difficult to guauge the waitresses mood, certainly not overly friendly, but very efficient and certainly not rude. I had specifically asked for a slight change to my main meal, which was acknowledged at the time, but when my food arrived it was as per the menu, so unfortunately had to go back. Again, no big issues, but it would have been nice to have been able to start eating at the same time as my partner. The majority of the food was lovely. The squid was great and fresh. Aioli was a bit bland and the garlic didn't appear to come through. My partners prawn toast was apparently delicious as was her Slow Cooked beef. I had the venison pie, which unfortunately was just a bit dry. The pastry was nice, but the meat wasn't I would have expected it to be. I would certainly visit again, but would definetely try another option on the menu.

I stopped overnight here and ate in the pub in the evening. Food and service where just fantastic. Food was very well cooked and thought out. The whole place was relaxing and well put together giving it a cosy intimate feel. Room was a good size and comfy, although looked a little tired in parts.

I asked for the fish pie as a main course, I was told it wasn't available but not when I was given the menu! So I chose sea bass, again I was told not available. I don't eat meat so not much choice left by now. Chose the sweet potato pakora in a burger bun with chips. It tasted of absolutely nothing and had the texture of a wet sponge. Could only eat a couple of mouthfuls as it was horrible. When the waiter took my plate away, he asked if everything was alright as I hadn't eaten hardly any of the meal. I replied, not really, that wasn't very nice, he apologised. We were still charged full price for said wet sponge. It would have been a nice gesture to have not charged at all for this particular meal. Service was very slow but it was very busy, being a Saturday evening so that was understandable.

I moved to the area a few months back and have been in for food and drink on multiple occasions. The staff are unbelievable. The most friendly yet professional staff around. I've started to recommend the winning post to my friends and family and they all have raved about their experience. I popped down on my own for breakfast today for a birthday breakfast. One of the members of staff (joey) brought out a lovely happy birthday breakfast croissant which was a lovely touch.

What a night! Last-minute reservation at The Winning Post Restaurant for New Year's Eve turned out to be an absolute delight. The venison wellington was a culinary masterpiece! Tender venison in flaky pastry shell, bursting with flavors. The chefs truly know their craft. Impeccable service and excellent recommendations. They made our evening special. Cozy and elegant ambiance, perfect for New Year's Eve. Tasteful decor and soft lighting added to the charm. Menu catered to all tastes and dietary preferences. Exceptional wine selection. A perfect evening at The Winning Post Restaurant. From the stunning venison wellington to the impeccable service, every moment was a celebration. Highly recommended.

What a find. The Landlord (Simon?) is great fun and so welcoming and working all the time. The staff are well trained and just superb. One waitress with her hair in a top knotch stood out being charming and very professional. She may have been the manager. The food was of reasonable price and delicious being all home made. Such a rare treat to have hot plates. This place is all about detail, well run and loved. We stayed in one of the excellent bedrooms. Spotless, quiet, superb beds. I was hobblng with a crutch and asked for a ground floor room which I had with a small garden terrace. We will certainly return.

We stayed here for one night, dinner bed and breakfast, while visiting the Windsor illuminations. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed at the back of the pub.(but it's worth noting that you have to go outside to get from the room to the dinner/breakfast). Dinner and breakfast were EXCELLENT with significant dietary needs posing no problem at all. Great food, great service, great attitude. No hesitation in recommending this place. Very close to Lapland UK and Legoland. One possible improvement would be another staff at breakfast as it got busy.

We stayed here for two nights for the Ascot races. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious, clean and the beds comfortable. The food was excellent especially the breakfasts. We were so impressed we recommended it to our daughter, husband and family. They booked an early evening meal in the restaurant after a visit to Lapland near Ascot. The staff were more than accommodating and invited their two young children (5 & 7) to see how the food was prepared in the kitchen. They enjoyed a lovely meal and like us will definitely be going back. We come from Devon.

We were given a voucher for our Wedding Anniversary for Prosecco Afternoon Tea which we used today. Staff very good but disappointed with the food. Three finger sandwiches each but the bread was too thick ,so much so we left a sandwich. One scone each ,very thin and hard crust .Difficult to cut in half ,and one of them was grey,stodgy and undercooked inside. The advertisement for Afternoon Tea states clotted cream with scones,we were presented with a runny cream heavily flavoured with vanilla.Yuck ! We did mention to member of staff about raw scone ,but it was just taken away. Not offered any tea or coffee yet it states unlimited tea and coffee. Very ,very disappointing.Will not return

Food closed at 2pm but they pulled out the stops and fed 10 of us. Exceptionally good food, nice and hot and in good time. We had a variety of items if the menu and it was all fantasticly tasty. My hat off to the chefs. Thank you

Just back from a wonderful overnight stay at The Winning Post with friends. We enjoyed a delicious evening meal in the pub's dining area and were able to choose from an extensive and appetising menu. The pub had a great atmosphere and we enjoyed our drinks. We stayed in some very spacious and comfortable bedrooms, the bed helped us all have a great night's sleep and the shower was hot, powerful and roomy. The next morning We enjoyed a hearty breakfast with a great vegetarian option and were then in a prime position to explore the royal parks.

The perfect place for a weekend away with friends, within easy reach of Windsor. Lovely bedrooms, great service and fabulous food.

We booked dinner here for our parents 50th wedding anniversary. The food was generally good and the staff were excellent. Great atmosphere and I would recommend for a nice meal out, somehere fun and relaxed but also a bit of a special vibe to it.

We called in for a quick drink as we had to waste a couple of hours before an appointment. Two ladies working at the bar had no interest in engaging in any light conversation, but preferred to talk to each other. I ordered a chicken sandwich, some barbecue belly pork bites, two pints of Pepsi Max and we were charged £32.00. Definitely a bit pricey in my view. The food was however good and nicely prepared and served, but I couldn’t get out of my mind that the two cokes must have cost around £10. It’s a nice pub, plenty of outdoor seating and in a quiet location.

Revamped and excellent! Our third visit in a month, staff are bubbly and efficient, food is excellent and great cocktails, lemon meringue tart is out of this world! I had the lemon sole which was so succulent, Izzy served us and was fun and on the ball, a credit to the restaurant! Not the cheapest meal but thoroughly enjoyable. Will be back many times!
