where do I begin? terribly dirty rooms clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a while, absolutely no room service, kept up all night from people stomping past our room, and a dog HOWLING in one of the rooms. a lot of banging and crashing all night, found a bug on my towel and was bitten by something in bed at night. I feel really bad.

We were apparently the first people ever to enjoy the new breakfast menu and I'm happy to recommend. Attentive staff, lovely vegetarian breakfast with excellent sausages. Great value for money, and nice atmosphere in general. Didn't know it's an inn but will keep that in mind! Will certainly go again next time we're in town.

Despite some terrible reviews we thought we would give this pub a try. Service is slow, management rude, and customer service non-existent. Certainly not the vibe you would expect from such a magical town. We won’t be returning - there are plenty of fabulous establishments in Glastonbury with friendly staff and good service, just be sure to give this one a miss.

Atmosphere: inside, whilst it has character, the decor hasn't changed in decades and needs a refresh here and there. Outside, the garden is pleasant and sunny. Service: On this occasion it was at least friendly, but we were given just knives wrapped in paper napkins to eat with.Food: My seafood linguine was bland and barely warm. Described as 'topped with samphire' there were only 4 pieces mixed in, at least the prawns and crayfish were cooked ok but I was expecting something better for £15. My husband's lasagne was fresh from the microwave and so hot I was halfway through my lukewarm pasta before he could even start eating. The lasagne lacked substance and flavour, served with two pathetic slices of garlic bread and salad it's not a main course portion at all, and certainly not worth the money. We ate here a couple of weeks ago, different dishes but again disappointing, we thought we'd give it one more try but it was even worse - who'd a thought it! If you want a drink in a sunny garden it's perfect, just don't order any food.

Atmosphere was very strange, it was extremely quiet and not very warm or welcoming. Which is a shame as the character of the pub is lovely. If you’re wanting a warm, friendly welcome I don’t feel this is the place. The food was average, nothing to write home about. I probably wouldn’t recommend or go again, not because anything was wrong but we ate at another local pub the day before and was much more impressed overall for a very similar price. Updated and upgraded food. More friendly, confident staff and a better atmosphere overall and I’m sure the place would be buzzing.

Very disappointing experience staying here. The mattress was rock hard and very uncomfortable with only thin pillow. There was no hot water from the tap and the shower would not go hotter than lukewarm.Top top it all off the food was a very low standard. For our breakfast was cold and microwaved (see photo). We stayed here for two nights. Our room was small but clean as was the tiny en-suite. The lighting in the room was poor. We went down to the restaurant which was cold. The menu was limited and the food expensive for what it was. I had leek and potato soup and two slices of bread which was £8.00. Most of the other main meals were around £15.00 and appeared to be mainly microwaved. The restaurant was cold again whilst we were eating breakfast too. The person we saw most was Ness and she was not particularly friendly. We were the only guests on the second night and there was one other guest on the first night. Very disappointing.

Tucked away from the High Street this really is an absolute gem to find, greeted by the lady in the phone box, not sure why but its clearly a theme of some odd things in the pub. Greeted though by fantastic service, warm and friendly. We had a lovely drink along with some food and have to say we were very impressed and so thank you. We have approached this pub / restaurant twice. The first time was 2020. We left before getting any further than the bar area as we found the staff unhelpful and rude. We thought, after a number of years, we might try again (mostly out of curiosity and in the hope something might've changed). I enquired by email to see if they had a table free for 4 people for dinner (20th December). The response I received was from Vanessa Thompson: ''Sorry we don’t do free meals, try another establishment,RegardsThe who’d a thought itGlastonburyVery confusing to receive a response such as this - do they not need the custom then? My companion and I ordered Steak & Ale Pie with suet pastry. which came with a small amount of vegetables and a potato cake. When the waitress came to see if everything was OK I stated that the pastry was very hard - it is made with flour - was her was her explanation for this. I struggled through managing to eat most of the pastry although the crust defined my attempts to cut through it. My friend could eat the meat only, leaving virtually all the pastry. How they had the nerve to charge £15 when part of it was virtually inedible is beyond me!!. No wonder the place was so quiet. Finally the official definition of a "pie" is something completely encased in pastry. What we were served was a slice of a large tart which had obviously been microwaved.;My friend needed to have the over priced sticky toffee pudding (which she enjoyed) as she had eat so little of the main course. Will not be returning.

Rude and dismissive staff. We walked in and felt excluded as soon as we sat down. There were little lights on and when we asked the woman working in the pub told us to use our phone lights. We then decided not to order food due to the service and my sister not feeling too hungry, so my mother went up to the bar and politely informed her that we would be ordering drinks only. She responded by saying “yes, I overheard you.” In an extremely rude tone, followed by “we don’t do table service”, at the point we were already at the bar ready to order. Completely uncalled for and we were so glad we didn’t give them more of our hard earned money.

My partner and I came to this pub specifically to fill a craving for pie and mash. At £15.00 for a pie and mash i was a little aghast but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do, and we really wanted pie. At that price, I hoped it would be gourmet. However after we had sat and ordered drinks, I was told there was no pie left in stock. It was pretty dissapointing but by that time our stomachs were grumbling, so we thought we'd get bangers and mash as the closest thing. They advertised a marmalade potato cake thing as the accompniment of the sausages and I asked if they could just make a simple mash for us instead. The answer from our waiter was a flat No, delivered without a hint of apology or sympathy. With the sausage meal also priced at £15, I could not believe that there was absolutely no leeway on how we would like our potato's cooked, especially when we were clearly looking for a like-for-like for our preferred dish, which DID come with mash but the pies were out of stock. The only reason I can think as to why such a switch could not even be REQUESTED to the chef, is that all their meals are perhaps the ready kind done in a microwave and so have no room for change? In which case a cost of £15.00 is just daylight robbery. So despite our hunger we got up and left, finishing our drinks in the garden and feeling like whatever we ordered would be a ripoff. I had a look in the kitchen window as we left and it did seem to be setup to pump out microwave meals. Can't comment in the taste of the food because we never got it, but based on the rest of our experience I'm glad we didnt.

I didn't read any reviews before my visit. Big mistake. These people should not be allowed to work in customer facing roles. As we entered and walked towards the bar, a blue-haired barmaid without even welcoming us said "Choose a table, if it's got a blackboard on it's reserved".We looked at the average menu and decided what to eat.I went back to the bar and asked if I could order some food. Without looking up she said "it's table service"I went back to my table and waited... In the meantime other customers came to the bar and ordered food directly. After 10 minutes of no sign of staff appearing to take my order, I went back to the bar and told the lady that we had been waiting for quite some time to order and asked if I could order at the bar... "it's up to you" she replied.I thought stuff this, you're not getting my hard earned with that attitude and we left.Cold, distant, unwelcoming apathetic staff.Take your money elsewhere would be my advice.

The landlady was awful and the landlord was dismissive of our complaints. Last week, we walked into the pub with our friend and we joined the queue to order food and drinks. As we got towards the front, the  landlady refused to serve us and then made a big point of trying to serve the people behind us. The landlady angrily said 'I'm not going to serve you now, I'm going to serve the people behind you. You were too busy talking" and ushered the people to come past us. I told her "there's no need for that" and asked why she didn't serve us, she said "well you shouldnt have been talking in the queue". When she came back to us, we made our order, but she was still being rude, hassling us, so we asked to speak to the manager. She said there wasn't any manager and laughed in our face and then said to another colleague 'these lot are giving me ball ache".She came back and said "there you go, bosh!" aggressively banging the drink/glass on the bar. After sitting down at our table outside, another table next to us expressed how unhappy they were with the service. We decided to go back inside. We asked to cancel the food order and have a refund as we were unhappy with the shocking service. They refused to give a refund and the landlord was very dismissive and said "were too busy to be polite" and walked off.We found the whole experience extremely unprofessional and rude. I've been to the pub this evening and been treated awfully. The staff were to start with lovely and probably mostly are good people but my experience has lead me to the conclusion that there is very poor management if any at all. I ordered two meals and asked that roast potatoes be swapped out on one meal for chips and the veg brought on a side dish as my partner didn't want them and I could have the extra veg which they agreed was fine with them. When the meals arrived both had veg on and an extra portion of veg plus no chips. I went in to speak to the woman who had served me to let her know there had been a mix up she said she had told the kitchen to adjust the order, at this point another woman (I assumed in charge) walked through the conversation at the bar and stated sharply the chicken comes with potatoes ! She looked at me with little more than contempt as she argued with the other member of staff. The first woman said but you can swap a side if you like - it was very uncomfortable and I backed away from the bar not sure how to respond. The woman who had served me shouted over I will gets some chips out to you now and come change my partner's meal for a new one. The chips came out but they didn't bother changing my partner's meal which he had lost most of his sauce on scraping the veg off. We were both upset by the terrible customer service and ate are meals quickly and uncomfortably. I went in at the end to speak to the manager and approached the woman who had snapped at me and said I was unhappy with the way she had spoken to me she said I didn't serve you ! when I tried to explain she laughed and said she wasn't the manager. She was very aggressive and confrontational. She turned and started serving another customer so I walked away. I went home and called the pub asking to spk to the manager and was hung up on several times and spoken to abusively they said they wouldn't give me the info. The last time I called they said they had put me on speaker phone so the whole bar could hear the crazy lady. I have never experienced anything like this in my life. We visited on a very hot and sunny Saturday afternoon. We had been recommended the pub as a good place to go by the owners of the glamping site we were staying at locally. There were 5 of us in our party plus our dog. We were seated very quickly in the lovely walled garden area outside. We went inside to order food & drinks. There was a great choice on the menus from burgers to sharing platters to pastas etc. Our food was served to us very quickly which was nice given the pub was so busy. There wasn’t any food left on any of our plates which is a sure sign we had all enjoyed it. The staff were all very friendly and polite. The toilets inside the pub were spotlessly clean and operated a one in one out system to keep people Covid safe. We were very glad to have taken up the recommendation given to us and had our lunch here. It was definitely the best pub we visited in the town centre while we were there for a few days.

We visited today for lunch.I ordered the Lasagne,it was horrendous.I complained and was offered another meal which I refused, the Lasagne put me offhaving anything else.I was then offered 50% off said Lasagne and Irefused and said I didn’t think that was reasonable,as I was paying for a meal I did not have. The person (female)got very aggressive and confrontational at this point.I was refunded the cost of meal begrudgingly that’s for sure.My “Home made Lasagne consisted of 2 layers of pasta ,too much bechemel sauceand the meat was disgusting, and the whole dish was swimming in oil,and been microwaved far too long.May I suggest you invest in a proper Chef who can cook. And your attitude towards paying customers leaves a lot to be desired! You told me I was the only customer to complain, but just having read reviews of yourEstablishment and your unprofessional attitude,it appears I am not alone in complaining.

Very pleased to return to Glastonbury and in particular to find the '' Who'd A thought it? '' Inn has hardly changed in nearly 10 years since our last visit , Stopped off for a pub lunch and a drink in the lovely quiet beer garden. The food was very reasonably priced and  was delicious, with a good choice suiting all needs. The staff were very friendly and polite, with a landlord that made us feel very welcome. Was very happy to know it hadn't changed alot since our last visit and would definitely return .

Greeted by friendly young waiters & waitresses who were helpful. The owners however were unfriendly and lacked any charm at all (perhaps they'd had a tiff?) When my partner's 'Halloumi and mushroom burger' arrived it literally was a burger bap with two bits of halloumi and a mushroom inside! No relish, no salad - just a dry bap!The other meal was bog standard pub grub fish chips n peas. For some reason they only sell Dorset Orchard ciders [in the heart of Somerset cider country] and the pint I had tasted like flat Strongbow.

I’m really shocked to see some recent reviews which are not great, we had a great time with very polite staff. I had the olive and feta salad which was outstanding, fresh ingredients, chunks of garlic, gorgeous dressing, loaded with olives and feta. My friend had the seafood salad who also said that her meal was beautiful too. The meals were presented beautifully. Highly recommend this pub.

My partner and myself popped in upon passing hoping to settle in for some food and drinks for the evening. We ordered our drinks and then ordered a sharing platter of olives and breads to start as we fancied a nibble before dinner, and ordered our mains for after. Within 10 minutes both of our mains were presented, and after explaining that we had actually ordered a starter, the waiter proceeded to put our mains in front of us. The barman who took our order came over and said that he had forgotten to put the platter through, and offered to put it through now, but explained that it probably wouldn't come put until after our mains. I explained that I wanted the starter but that my main would be cold by the time we wait for it... obviously any decent waiter would have accepted fault and taken the food back and corrected the order, but this waiter stood blankly and awkwardly in front of us, so out of discomfort I just said not to worry about the starter. I felt so uncomfortable and quite let down by this response, and being somebody who avoids causing a problem, I was disappointed that the waiter didn't do the obvious. Having read the other reviews, it doesn't seem that even if I had asked directly to have what I ordered, in the order I wanted it, that it would have made much difference.£80 to spend the evening feeling uncomfortable. Avoid.

The menu outside looked good and we were pleased to get a booking for that same evening. No wonder that was possible. Everything on the menu just gets the microwave treatment! We shared a garlic bread - arrived 2 minutes after ordering. Mains arrived within moments of us having finished the starter. We were seated next to the kitchen and could hear the microwaves pinging - and the ‘chef’ counting down the last 18 seconds on someone else’s curry. A ‘2 course’ meal - in and out in 25 minutes. Very disappointing and poor value for money.

We had arrived early for our booking, has we’re eating our meal. One of the servers very rudely shouted across from some distance away what we had to finish because our table was booked from 6pm. It was 5.55pm. My friend said “but we are still eating”. He was very dismissive. We did not understand as we had booked! Having looked at the sign on our table, we noted it was our reservation so called the server back over to ask if the table was booked out for us. After some time he said it was, so I asked to speak to the manager. She came over and was just as rude. She listened but did not comprehend the embarrassment that has been caused by having a server shout over that we had to leave half way through our meal, and tried to offer some poor excuse that it was difficult to hear out side. I explained that he did not even ask, he just shouted. I asked if she might want to offer us some drinks for our embarrassment, and she just said that I was not causing more embarrassment and her staff had done nothing wrong. Terrible customer service!

My mother was stopped at the door and the member of staff was so extremely rude to her we turned and took our business elsewhere. Having booked a table for six for a family meal, I was first to arrive, to find the table not ready (the place was empty!)Feeling a bit awkward and not wanting to sit at the bar drinking on my own, I went back out to the garden where my bicycle was and scoffed a handful of crisps from my bike basket (I'm anaemic and was feeling light-headed).So the landlady came marching over to me from the table where she'd been sat with a bottle of bubbly and started ranting and swearing at me! I tried to explain that I was waiting for my table but she seemed to have made the judgement that I was a blagging piece of scum. Had she asked nicely I wouldn't have had any issue but she was thoroughly vile! Needless to say we decided to eat somewhere else.Incidentally I've been there before and the food is a little overpriced and 'meh'. So a friendly reception would go a long way to improving the experience.

Who'd a thought it inn is located in the town centre of Glastonbury. Read all the reviews before we stayed in the Inn. The room was located above the kitchen. Stayed for a few hot days. The room was dinky for 2 people and like a hot oven, no net curtains and no privacy. so, many insects popped in to greet us. The furniture was old and random and didn’t complement or suit the room. The mattress was rock hard but after a night adjusted. The door was at times sticky to open. The bathroom was behind a sliding door not offering much privacy but a very adequate shower. The breakfast was a tiny portion and the sauté potatoes were more boiled. No issues with staff mannerism. Had a few good meals on the eat out to help out scheme that were reasonable priced. Car parking available and close proximity to all shops.Overall I wouldn’t stay again but would only visit the Pub.

Found this by chance whilst walking through The town centre.Although we hadn’t made a reservation, the lady found us a table inside near to the bar. The menu had a good choice of reasonably priced meals. We both had chicken balti which was most enjoyable I enjoyed my first and second pint of Palmers IPA beer, a really good beer.I found the interior of the pub very interesting and quirky, the walls and ceilings were filled with memorabilia from the early 1800’s to mid 1900’s including posters, metal advertising boards, fishing rods and so much more. The friendly ladies who served us were hard working and never stopped seating customers, serving, clearing away and then sanitizing the tables. The barman who we could see and hear from our table was quite the opposite. He was constantly ringing a bell for service of drinks by the staff, and if they didn’t arrive immediately he’d ring it again. They were run off their feet. His attitude was not good.Overall, I would return and eat here again, if the barman was friendlier!

Walked in a few days prior to see if i needed to book and was recommended I did, So I did and ask for a high chair which I was told you would have to help yourself it isn't that type of place. When we came to sitting on our table there were drinkers on the table not a problem although the sever was bit impolite and pointed out it does say on the table which it did(I would recommend putting the reservation time 15mins before this gives you chance to wash down for customers who have booked). Had to order our food from the bar which for the price i would of expected table service, when ordering from the bar the barman was a bit short with my partner and made her feel uncomfortable. The ales were well kept well and the food was nice, with what I presume new waitress (she asked a co-worker about table numbers) very efficient and polite.

Worst customer service of my life!!!!!! First the side dish of onion rings was brought out before our starter. After saying this to the waiter we were told the kitchen has cooked them now. Our starters arrived, ten minutes into our starter our mains arrived. We told the Spanish waiter we haven’t finished our starters yet. His reply, I’ll take it back to the kitchen for it to go cold under the lamp. We explained this to other waiter who replied, well it’s not his fault it’s the kitchen. My husband asked the manager for a refund to be told no because it was a part refund and wasn’t available under the government scheme. Then the chef came out with a horrendous attitude (he’d not ever heard of the term they customer is always right’). After explaining to him the situation, he was aggravated and claimed our starter came out 30 minutes before our main. This was a complete lie. Then I told him the waiter said he’d take the main back but it would be under a light and would go cold. He said “my staff wouldn’t say that’s. Well, I’m afraid they do. I asked him if he was calling me a liar, but didn’t want to answer that. He lost his bullishness attitude by this point. Then he told me the kitchen was busy due to the bank holiday, despite his barwoman stating it was the quietest period they had. So after a disgraceful attitude, he then asks what do I want to do. “Shove your food” was my reply. I then ordered our food was given in a box to take away - why should they get our money without the food! The burger was below average, I’m afraid to say, and we weren’t even given the extra portion of chips we paid for. Another let down by the chef and servers. To put the icing on the cake, the waitress brought our food out to say “the lasagne is still hot but the burger’s probably cold now”. If I could offer minus stars for service, this is the place I’d give it to. Save yourself the hassle, and spend your hard-earned money elsewhere. Disappointed.

We would recommend this place to everyone and anyone and will be booking to come back again soon! Thank you for a fab night
