Lovely fresh oysters but disappointing chips. Extremely average Picpoul. Panna Cotta too much gelatine, ice cream liquid, coffee thin. Can always spot poor coffee when the froth on the cappuccino sits on the top as airy bubbles. Overall not great value. Good location and decor.

Great menu with lots of choices centred (obviously) on seafood. Five of us had a range of different dishes and we all enjoyed everything. Not cheap, but reasonable prices and you get what you pay for! Good service.

Lovely atmosphere and excellent service. I had the lobster which was not as good as I had hoped especially given it's very high price tag.

Honestly this is probably the best seafood I have ever eaten. Every dish was exceptional but the Monkfish was absolutely one of the best main courses I have ever eaten. The staff were absolutely lovely and I couldn't recommend this restaurant anymore!!! An absolute must try and I will definitely be back 😍

A must visit when in Whitstable. The oysters are lush. Really enjoyed the black truffle taramasalata this time. Chips were the only disappointment. Will be back.

Came here for a dinner as a group of 4 and 3 of us now have food poisoning, almost certainly caused by the rock oysters that we had. The one person that did not have them does not have food poisoning, so it’s clearly caused by the oysters. The most worrying thing was the lack of care shown by the staff, both over the phone and in person, when we explained the issue the next day. Many others have reported the same issue, it’s alarming how this is not taken more seriously by the restaurant. Incredibly disappointed

I went to this restaurant recently and had a very disappointing experience. Unfortunately 3 out of the 4 people in our group got terrible food poisoning which we worked out was from the rock oysters as that was the only thing the one person who was fine didn’t eat. The reaction from the staff was very disappointing when we let them know, they got very defensive and showed very little concern when we explained that the people in our group were so unwell they had to go home and cut our holiday short. The manager told me I was told unless we could prove from a stool sample that it was from their restaurant they wouldn’t do anything as she had eaten oysters herself last night and felt fine. It felt incredibly dismissive and I was very unhappy with the way it was handled. We were asked to fill a form of everything we had eaten in the day so they could ask their provider about it but this only benefits the restaurant and not us. Will not be returning to this restaurant as it’s clear they have no concern for the experience of their diners.

Been here twice now and the first visit was fantastic… Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about our 2nd visit. We got FOOD POISONING from the oysters, which they took 0 blame for. The staff were rude the following day, they refused to acknowledge the problems with their batch of oysters and effectively told us we were making up the story. It’s unfortunate because for the sake of a £18 refund on a £260 bill, they let themselves down. Out of principle I won’t be returning here.

Outstanding fresh fish-all our party enjoyed everythng. My only negative is that the chips could have been better the new potatoes were a better option.

Wonderful sea food, great views and staff. Don't leave Whitstable without visiting! Oysters perfect. Seating unusual and interesting. Excellent atmosphere.

Excellent place to eat in a delightful period building the food was superb and the staff very friendly and helpful.

The last time we ate at the Oyster House was about fifteen years ago and it was fabulous. Well it’s my pleasure to report that things haven’t changed and the Oyster House is still fabulous. A warm welcome, attentive and cheerful staff and fantastic food! The Oysters were on another level, the Mackerel and Skate Wing were glorious and the Sticky Toffee, Panna Cotta and the meringue were sensational. Thank you for making us all feel so welcome. Visit this or miss something that is very special

Lovely food and ambience, although unfortunately me and my boyfriend came for his birthday lunch and we both ended up getting very sick with food poisoning symptoms around 24 hours later. Impossible to prove it was from the lunch although nothing else that could’ve caused it really. I also have friends who have come here have a similar experience. Just something to be aware of and very much ruined it for us!

Sophisticated atmosphere and extremely pleasant service. Grilled Cod was absolutely delicious. Great place for a romantic evening meal. Highly recommend after active afternoon spend on hiking around the harbour.

Food poisoning with oysters has been our unpleasant experience with this restaurant. Only 3 of us had oysters, and those 3 ended very badly over the following 3-4 days, because more than being not fresh, the oysters were carrying a toxic bacteria. It’s a shame such a reputable restaurant with a good atmosphere and service, does not place more care on hygiene. They don’t have an email, impossible to contact other than by phone. No accountability. So here is the review of the worrying facts…

Good range of good quality seafood dishes in a nice environment along the seashore. Good service. A little pricey I'd say but I suppose you're paying for the location.

Stunning seafood, excellent service, fantastic venue and location right on the beach. The local/native oysters were divine, the oyster bloody Mary very well balanced, the ray wing perfectly cooked and very, very tasty. A wonderful afternoon spent here!

Great candlelight dinner. Amazing service and beautifully cooked fish. The fried cod with chips is great, the fish coating is light, tasty and slightly crunchy edges. The haddock with sour cream, swiss cheese and chives was perfectly cooked and bursting with well complemented flavors.

Services was 10 out of 10 today, friendly and professional. Oysters are fresh and tasty and that's what we came here for. Mussels, Smoke Salmon and Squid are all good, not amazing, had better elsewhere. Cod and Chips, Cod was a big let down considering its over £20. The batter was badly done, soggy and undercooked.

Fantastic food in a lovely setting

The oysters are amazing and the restaurant is a lovely setting. The moule mariniere wasn’t great on the occasion we went but definitely recommend for the home farmed oysters.

Absolutely top class. Beautiful decor and ambiance, sea view, friendly staff, good menu and food way beyond expectations. We have found our new favourite place to eat in Whitstable.

We had a quite extraordinary lunch here. The seafood was mindbendingly fresh and was cooked to perfection. The staff were lovely and the atmosphere was excellent.

The food is a bit more expensive than your traditional restaurant but it's so worth. The fish and chip was to die for! Definitely definitely coming back

We were excited to indulge in what this restaurant had to offer, given the reviews. It did not disappoint; they literally knocked our socks off with the treatment of fish. The integrity of the ingredients, the skilled plate compilation were both outstanding. The dining was home style, comfortable, and with an air of historic whimsy. The staff and service delivery were detailed and attentive, without being over-bearing.

Located on the beach front, which has a wonderful ramshackled feel to it. This restaurant is an amazing seafood and fish establishment. I have eaten there on many occasions and never have I been disappointed with my meal. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, especially with customers with food allergies. Book in advance as this place is usually fully booked however they will accommodate if they can.

Great food, staff a bit distracted, noisy room and slightly overpriced. Good selection of suitable wines.

THERE IS NO LOCAL COD and hasn't been for years. Went with friends who were taken in by the bulll***** . Total tourist trap. There are far better places to eat.

Really lovely evening here. Ambience is perfect, lighting just right, Decor inviting. Food menu is all fish but actually difficult to decide what to have. The fish and chips was huge and really fresh and delicious. The seabass was also a good portion and was absolutely delicious. Cocktail to start also excellent! Really good relaxed night out.

More of a cafe than a restaurant, place settings not set up, no side plates, candle on unoccupied tables, ours only arrived after half an hour after being seated, except for one oyster the remaining oysters and Lobster where tasteless IMO they had been frozen, certainly not fresh, how can you eat Lobster without a place to put the shell off your plate, had to ask for one again as the side plate I asked for previously for the bread had been taken away, not once was I asked "how was my meal" or "Is everything OK", witch to my mind says it all, not interested, cost was over £100.00 and was not value for money.

Whow what fabulous food,service and ambience here. We will be back for sure. Lovely lunch and even though its on the fine dining league the food is amazing !!!

Excellent! We had Anna looking after us and she was fantastic. Very helpful with the menu and if we had any questions. The food was delicious…although I felt the crab was extremely dry. Otherwise a pleasant evening-we would definitely go back.

Food is so fresh and tasty. Staff are lovely, attentive, and somehow willing to accommodate my mum's many requests without an issue! Beautiful view as well and drinks are great (especially the wine list). Highly recommended.

This sits right next to the sea and the building and setting are quite evocative. The fish was excellent. We tried three different types, mullet, bream and haddock and they were all very good, and I was brought up on excellent fish. I would also particularly commend their excellent stout which they make, one of the very best, in fact I brought some to take home

Over priced ordinary food ...the scallops were very ordinary (had better ones cooked home by myself) and they were having a laugh with my 3 tiny marble sized boiled new potatoes that accompanied a rather tasteless plaice such that a friend I was with gave me her small portion of over cooked and hard chips. I did not grace them with a dessert order. Altogether very disappointing.

Visiting from Portland, Maine where the seafood is top notch - Whitstable Oyster Co stood up to that high bar really well. This place is fantastic. The dinner was truly excellent. Had oysters at the bar next door while waiting. Then Skate, Cod, Sea Bass, and Haddock for mains. And scallops and cider mussels for starters. Highly recommend!!!

As it's a historic building, it's not really accessible Oysters excellent Whole lobster 🦞 quite small and poor value for money.I hate mustard and they added some in their mayo recipe without warning.I find this so often now Surprise added mustard dressing,paprika scattered all over a full English breakfast 🤯 and chilli🌶 on everything Are our palates so jaded? Chefs- Just put your additives on the menu so we can choose PLEASE.

It was our time in Whitstable and managed to get a table without reservation. The scallops with balsamic vinegar were awesome. The lobster was a bit small but was ok. Service was very good.
