My wife and I, pensioners from Swansea, recently took a 4 nights break at the White Horse. The long tiring drive was well worth the effort as this proved to be one of our happiest holidays ever in the UK. Management and staff were extremely helpful, friendly and efficient. Food was delicious and the discount for residents meant that prices were very reasonable. We did have an issue with the current tired, run down state of parts of the hotel which were dealt with amicably and satisfactorily by hotel management and NOT an overseas call centre which is so often the case these days. Adam helpfully informed us that the hotel was due to close last March for a major 6 month refurbishment which has now been rescheduled for September. This was to be out last long journey but we hopefully look forward to one final vacation at the White Horse in what is sure to be a fabulous transformation.

After a 45 minute wait for our food which was just starters my sister asked a waitress when the food would be coming. The waitress immediately brought our food which had obviously been sitting in the kitchen as it was dried up and awful. My sister complained and part of the meal was replaced. The manager was called and she was so rude it was an unbelievable experience. There was no apology and she argued that the food was fine and we hadn't waited very long for it. On closer inspection of the terrible chicken she agreed to refund the cost of one of the meals. She called my sister a liar had a shocking attitude. This was a truly horrible experience.

Surly staff. Starter arrived with mains Luke warm. Was told my fault 🤦‍♀️ Bar Man unpleasant unhelpful. Food like warm. Fish hardly any, soggy batter Scampi scarce chips old. Waste of money. Not a great experience.

I made the mistake of using this car park in a partial lock down when viewing a house locally with my unwell mother in law. I have now been harassed for nearly two years over a parking fine by an outsourced company that now wants to take me to court. I have been to this pub previously and not paid and never seen the apparently multiple signs, perhaps due to the car park usually being full. At this time the parking lot was empty and it was not actually clear at that time it should be paid when the pub was closed. I was paying too much attention to my unwell mother in law I suppose and going from previous experience. Think it’s disgusting a pub of this size needs to charge for parking, particularly during what was effectively a lockdown. What’s worse is that they followed up the fine a whole year later, just looking to make money and every time I dispute the interest goes up. Despite living locally I will avoid this place - so many better options in the area.

The spot is fabulous especially the manager Mitchell and trust me 40 years of being in UK eaten in various restaurants up and down the UK and the soup of the day is disgusting but trust me when I say soups of the day at White horse rottingdean deserves more than 5 star I'm speechless the whole service especially staff nothing is to much effort this place deserves 5star rating 29th april2023

Restaurant was newly decorated but sadly just in white so has the atmosphere of a dentist surgery without curtains. The food is bland without seasoning, think school dinners and you won’t go far wrong.

Decent pub menu. I wouldn’t say the food was special but it was nice enough. Very friendly staff. Unfortunately there was a long wait for food as there are too many people.

We stayed 1 night while travelling through. The location is great and the staff friendly but the hotel itself leaves a lot to be desired. Our room needed a good clean and smelt damp despite the attempt of a strong air freshener to mask it! A lick of paint and new carpets throughout the whole place are desperately needed.

So kind of The White Horse to let us bring our own cake when we were only buying Prosecco (not even dinner). Thanks guys! We had a really fun time last night.😃🎂

We visited as a party of four on a Friday lunchtime in December. We had prebooked and received a warm welcome as usual. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Staff are lovely! We had a drink and a main meal each - fish and chips, macaroni cheese, gammon and a chicken burger. All of the food was great. Highly recommended. Worth going out of your way for. This is a Greene King pub dinner you can receive a 20% discount on food with a Bluelight card making it excellent value.

The hotel overlooks the sea..we didn’t feel rushed, the service was impeccable and the bed so very comfortable (twin beds are small doubles!). Special mention to Lloyd in the restaurant who seemed to second guess what we needed, and really appeared to enjoy his job....
