Not been here for twenty years food and service was excellent atmosphere could do with a boost

Well where to start The White Horse is amazing the rooms are stunning with stunning views spotlessly clean so comfortable and spacious the food was outstanding .We left this morning after waking to thick snow Dave the landlord went above and beyond to help get my car out and even drove us to the clear roads to keep us safe Dave your amazing.This place is worth every penny and we cannot wait to return .

Visited with friends for lunch and birthday celebration and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Setting was great, service first class, food was excellent. We expect to visit again

Great pub quiz every Tuesday at 8pm.

We just went for a meal, but the food was a little disappointing - hard peas, slightly soggy chips, that kind of thing. The desserts were pretty good though. The interior of the part we were seated in was a little dated and lacking in atmosphere. The location and views are great however. The last time I visited 4 years ago I gave it four stars, and nothing much has changed in four years, but I guess we might have caught the chef on a bad day.

Breakfast the following morning was included in our room rate and was simply brilliant. The menuu for lunch and dinner is very good, the food and service are simply first rate. We had :- Tomato and mozzarella tortellini and crab bruschetta both nicely presented and tasty Mains Hake amd parmentier potatoes and steak with chips peas and onion rings the later was fantastic, although the parmentier were burnt, having been left cooking too long. The fish was perfectly cooked. Deserts Mango bavarois _ stunning and the yorkkshire rhubarb panacotta brilliant

This restaurant is without a doubt one of the best I have been to in Derbyshire. The food you receive is fully deservant of its AA Rosette declaration, & I am almost certain this restaurant won't be to far away from being featured on the Michelin Guide. The monkfish starter was flawless. The flavours within cannot be explained & I would highly suggest you try this for yourself! The beef & chicken roast dinners were perfect. The meat was cooked to perfection, with the dish as a whole packed full of flavours! Whatever the occasion may be for your visit; you will not be disappointed.

Drove in to a great size car park which is on two levels, a really warm welcoming entrance, we were met by a wonderful warm and friendly staff member and shown to our table which was tucked away in the snug, staff were very quick to take our drinks order and I’ve got to say the drinks menu was very extensive and the staff member taking the drinks order was very knowledgeable on what drinks were available, the food was ordered which included starters and main courses, the food arrived in good time we weren’t disappointed it, the quality, temperature, amount was fantastic, the staff were always on hand to make sure we were happy, the deserts were ordered and again the quality was fantastic, I would highly recommend visiting the White Horse at Woolley Moor, but make sure you book as it does get very busy…

Great food and service. The 2 ladies working were very welcoming and extremely helpful. The food was amazing and well priced for the quality. Only in the area for a few days but will 100% come back if in the area again.

I visited for a family meal and they were very flexible to my dietary restrictions without making me feel like a burden and I had the most delicious meal that I could eat with none of the ingredients I have to avoid. The gluten and dairy free lemon rice pudding is absolutely delicious!! Highly recommend for those on gluten free, dairy free or low fodmap! They don't shout enough about how flexible they are on the menu, but trust me it's great food!!

Stopped here As part of a bike ride. The food was really good quality although perhaps some might find it pricey. The beer was amazing though Chatsworth golf five star

We’ve just had a lovely meal at the white horse. The food was excellent no complaints on that score but! When the bill was presented to us it seemed to be a bit on the cheap side, on adding it up in my head it was £32 less than it should have been. I went to the bar and told the landlord to check the adding up which he did and confirm that I was right. I am a business man and thought i was doing the right thing but after his reaction of “well mistakes happen” and barely a thank you I will think twice before doing it again

Lovely country inn offering good dining and choice of real ales. Outdoor seating to front and rear and car parking.

Bar staff was lovely but the manager had a chip on his shoulder horrible and rude would not recommend this put!! With kids

Stayed here late Feb 2022, our second visit. Rooms so beautifully done and pristine. Huge amount of space, with stunning views. Had 2 delicious breakfasts with great options. All freshly cooked. Two evening meals were heavenly, hard to beat in the UK and elsewhere. This is a great place with numerous walks locally and further a field plus Chatsworth and Hardwick Hall about 20 mins away. If you read this and decide to book if you could avoid booking the same time as us as we love it here and will be going back again and again. Staff were so nice all weekend and also before we arrived when they resolved some booking issues that were all my fault.

We've just had a weekend break at The White Horse. The accommodation was lovely, modern,spacious and very clean. The breakfast was fantastic and our evening meal was equally as excellent. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend this place and we'll definitely be returning, thank you for a lovely weekend.

Our party of twelve stayed at the White Horse for New Year. We cannot it praise it enough. The business is owner run and it shows. Our rooms were fantastic and spotlessly clean, extremely spacious with all amenities. The food was worthy of a Michelin star, absolutely wonderful .with first class service. The staff were all efficient, attentive and most pleasant. We would like to thank David, his wife and the whole team for making it a memorable stay. Will definitely visit again

Stayed at Perkins cottage in Woolley moor, walked to the White House for a meal, even though they were busy, food and service was excellent and staff outstanding

We've been trying to get in her for a few months and now we've eaten here we can see why it gets busy. It's a nice place away from the hustle and bustle, the food is fantastic, I had the gammon which is standard in many places but it was succulent, the chips were as good as any. My partner had the chicken which she loved this with perfectly cooked greens. Moving on to the deserts I hade lemon meringue which was more lemon creme brulee with basil sorbet, I've never heard of basil sorbet but my word was it beautiful. My partner polished off the Bakewell bread an butter pudding in no time, saying how gorgeous it was. We won't wait long to come back. Ps the staff were perfect, not in your face but attentive and pleasant. Highly recommended.

We have just visited The White Horse for dinner as a party of 5 and all thoroughly enjoyed our experience.Situated in a rural location, this restaurant has a lovely setting and full of character both inside and out.Great choice of food available including a small selection of specials.I had the Sausage and Black Pudding with Quail Eggs to start with, the Pan Fried Seabass for my main and the Pecan Pie for dessert. The presentation of the food was simply excellent and all tasted amazing, especially the Sausage and Black Pudding starter. In fact all my families food was cooked to perfection and there was no issues at all here.Even though the food was excellent, I did however feel that it was a little pricey but I suppose at the end of the day it was good quality food.Great atmosphere here, staff were all very friendly, polite and knowledgeable.Plenty of car parking available to the rear of the restaurant too.Would certainly recommend this place for the overall experience.

Five of us enjoyed a great meal after a long walk in the lush countryside on the pub’s doorstep. The food was excellent and the service ‘on point’. Wish we were locals!

Very average food, my fillet steak was "bitty" with a fair amount of fat. I have fillet steak because I don't like fat.

We stayed for one night and had Sunday lunch, a picnic hamper in our room for our evening meal and a delicious English breakfast the following morning. All food was beautifully prepared and well presented. Staff were friendly and efficient. 5 stars all round !!

We were invited to join 2 friends for an evening meal at The White Horse, where they were staying for a few nights. Their accomodation was fabulous, very clean modern and spacious with lovely views. The meal in the restaurant was excellent, one of the best we have had in quite a while. The staff were lovely and friendly. An excellent evening

Very attentive and pleasant staff. Good atmosphere. Although the quality of the food was very good, I think for the amount you got? they were a little overpriced.

The roast beef was as thick as a steak and inedible. Came with reheated warm potatoes. Very poor.

Stayed in one of the rooms at the View which was excellent. Very spacious. Had three course meal in the White Horse restaurant and, as ever, the food was excellent.

Excellent meal with family and friends - everyone enjoyed the food and wine. Staff were helpful and efficient and the flowers and celebration cake were displayed well. Thank you all for making the day special.

Not as welcoming as we expected, and note of a rush. We rang to book and we're told that the pub is busy inside and outside and can only fit us in at a certain time. We arrived there and outside was absolutely empty and inside just a few tables. We were rushed to out table and told again that the pub is really busy, which made us feel uncomfortable. We decide to go just with main course because ‘pub is busy’ and not to cause anymore trouble. Food was ok but not exceptional.

Had a voucher that my husband was given for his birthday last year and because of lock down didn't use it, however when we rang to book for Sunday lunch we we're told there was no expiry date, which I thought was good,from stepping through to door the service was exceptional all the staff were helpful and friendlyThe food was delicious, my husband had the beef roast, l had a gorgeous fried vegetable starter and rice noodles with tofu wantons(vegan) l was pleasantly surprised at the vegan options,When the food arrived it was presented with style and looked perfect like some one had really put the effort into it, the sides were brill too I had chips and they were seriously the best I had been given in a long time, my husband had cauliflower cheese, broccoli cabbage and peas, he said it was excellent, this has to be the best food served for miles, we will definitely be going back

Stayed at the White Horse and dined in both nights. Loved the Risotto with Halibut and an excellent Fillet steak. Good wine list and attentitive, friendly staff. Also add that the breakfasts are wonderful, great choice, tasty and well presented

A truly wonderful stay here . The rooms are spacious , comfortable and beautifully decorated . The staff were all very friendly and all the service was excellent . The meals were extremely tasty and very well presented . Truly I can't praise this place enough . The only improvement that could be made is to put a hook on the bathroom door ! Wonderful location for a break in the Peak District. We stayed in a junior suite and it didn’t disappoint. Fantastic room with a great view. There was a lot of attention to detail. Appreciated the fresh milk and bottles of water waiting in the fridge. The food in the restaurant was very good. Not a huge menu but everything we chose was delicious and freshly cooked. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend a visit.

We stayed for 2 nights on midweek break offer. The rooms are built in separate annex to pub. All are junior suites with a private decking balcony overlooking the countryside. Perfect for relaxing with a cup of tea after spending the day exploring the dales. The food is excellent both breakfast and dinner with plenty of choice and well presented. There is also outside seating in the beer gardens front and rear of the pub . The hosts and all their staff are really welcoming and friendly. This was our first stay away since first lockdown and it didn’t disappoint! Would definitely recommend and will stay again when in the area.

Just returned from a wonderful and if anyone is thinking of going then I reccomend it highly The rooms are spacious and fantastic views and the staff are lively and helpful My partner has a wheat allergy and they were very knowledgeable about gluten free food and could do most of the menu The food was superb and I consider it great value the Guinness was also very nice We will definitely be visiting again Thankyou

Great place for a top notch meal,and great surroundings too

We stayed for one night in the gorgeous, huge room with lovely views, super king bed, sofas, huge bathroom and fab balcony and had a great meal with fab service. Breakfast too was splendid with lots of choice and fresh, cooked to order local produce. The service was excellent, friendly and just right. What a cracking pub, in a great place with hotel quality rooms and food. Will definitely revisit.

Our first visit and first meal post lockdown. Felt very safe covid wise as place spotless and staff wearing masks and visors. Food was fantastic, my husband said it was the best steak he had ever had. We returned after this initial visit during help out to eat out and had another stunning meal.

This was our second visit here and we love the place. We have eaten in many fine restaurants in many countries but I have to say that the food here is the best. There were plenty of Gluten Free options for me and we enjoyed breakfast being delivered to our room. We will certainly return. Top marks from us

Crazy times when one is asked to sanitise one's hands with an antibacterial liquid (doesn't kill viruses) and wear a mask to walk to the table but the landlord was good-natured and it's not his choice.Service was excellent throughout our meal.My friend loves seafood and declared the crab cake the best she'd ever tasted.My spring roll was delicious.Venison mains were wonderful - tender and full of flavour.The rice pudding dessert was incredible - caramelised pineapple and gingerbread ice cream topping.Fantastic!

Stayed here on a weekend visit home absolutely amazing place ate here many times in the past but never stayed here was visiting our kids and decided to treat ourselves and stay , what a fantastic experience all covid procedures followed by everyone , the staff very friendly , professional and attentive ,we stayed in a luxury apartment ,what a room !! with massive bed and a view to die for luckily had sunny weather so able to sit out on the patio with a baileys coffee totally relaxed , the food and service was excellent evening meals and breakfast Highly recommend the Belly pork .... and the clotted cream rice pudding omg only complaint I have is I requested the rice pudding again ( I would eat it every meal so good ) for my breakfast and it wasn't on the menu ha ha joking apart this place is a hidden gem in my beautiful hometown countryside where nothing is too much trouble for the staff ...would I stay here again ?....you bet I WILL 100%

We have never had a bad meal here. Whether we come with friends or just a treat for the two of us the food is always excellent. We often stay in the View which have beautiful views over Moorwood moor. If you are thinking of a few days break to get away from the stress and hassle of daily life in these difficult times this is the place to visit.

Fantastic overnight stay in The View at the White Horse at Woolley Moor. The accommodation is simply stunning, and the food and service in the White Horse is spot on. Have stayed here more than once and will be staying again in the future, without a doubt.

Easing of lockdown rules meant we could venture off Anglesey to visit friends in their new house in Ashover, Derbyshire. Although I lived in Derbyshire for over twenty years I had not been to the White Horse before. Covid-19 precautions were in evidence and we felt safe. The food was excellent, as was the service. Our waitress announced it was her last shift for the present as she is off to Uni in Birmingham (my wife studied there some years ago) As I was with my best friend, who I met on my first day at Uni 44 years ago, we could identify with her excitement. We wish her the very best of luck, a charming girl. Thank you White Horse for a lovely evening. We appreciate that times are somewhat weird just now but you made us feel welcome. The food was very tasty and well presented, and the service polite and respectful.

My wife and I decided to have a short vacation of three days in Derbyshire. There is plenty to see in the Peak district but we needed a place with a restaurant near Chatsworth house. The White Horse at Wooley Moor village turned out to be an absolute gem. The place is family run with luxury Accommodation at a sensible price.The accommodation in, The View, consists of a very large and spacious room with all the modern facilities including a sofa and matching comfy chair, table and chairs for writing and television. Your own private area outside the apartment with fantastic views over the Peak district.The rooms were very bright and clean with coffee making facilities. It was hard to find any fault, Perhaps to be super critical, we would have liked a larger TV, but that is nit picking at the extreme.The restaurant was excellent, serving a wide ranging menu for both Breakfast and Dinner. The staff were friendly, welcoming and very helpful to make our stay a memorable one.Woolley Moor is not a place you pass. You have to go there, but it is a quiet, welcoming, warm, and comfortable stay that awaits at The White Horse.We look forward to a return visit.

The White Horse never fails to deliver! We have eaten here a number of times over the past few years and the food is delicious. The menu is varied and inventive with fresh quality food, the staff are always very welcoming, polite and efficient. I would 100% recommend!

First time at this quaint little pub with 5 star accommodation & the most amazing service. From our lovely warm welcome to seeing our beautiful spotlessly clean suite with amazing views of the Derbyshire Countryside, to a Michelin star standard of food to a very comfortable overnight stay! What pandemic? We actually felt so relaxed we forgot about it for a while. Cleanliness was superb with the most friendly & professional staff. We can not recommend highly enough. We stayed for one night here last weekend and we will be back. The suite was fantastic. First weekend away in 5 months!! They contacted us to arrange a dinner reservation which was great. We had whitebait and onion soup for starters followed by duck and halibut. All was cooked perfectly. The service was great and there did feel as if there was a buzz about the place. The breakfast was also fantastic with plenty of options. We would recommend this place to others and hope to be back soon.

I have to admit that it is a long tome since we have been to The White Horse but we will certainly be back in short order. The meal, service and ambience were all excellent and they had full mastery of health and hygiene issues under the current guidelines

I dont often write a review but this restaurant truly deserves one. From arrival to leaving it was 5 . On a red hot evening they still adhered to wearing their masks too. Fabulous service from all of the waiting on ladies and the food was amazing.Thank you all.

Always intrigued by a location which consistently receives 5 star reviews, I booked in for 5 nights with my wife. We were definately not disappointed!The location is idyllic, with fabulous views from our room across the rolling Derbyshire Dales. The room iteself was lovely with everything needed for our stay and the bonus of a private fenced patio to enjoy evenings after dinner with a drink or two.The food is served in the pub, which has been given detailed attention to the Covid-19 situation with limited numbers of people and social distancing. As for the food itself, great breakfast with plenty of choice and an equally great dinner menu, all delicious.The splendid White Horse is a tribute to the hard work and effort of Mel & Dave the proprietors, who are great hosts, supported by competent and friendly staff. If ever a place deserves to succeed in these trying times, it is The White Horse at Wooley Moor!
