Adrian and Annabelle visited the White Horse in Barton and had a feast and it was incredible Thai food at its very, very best. A great host who took the time and interest with his customers. This establishment is above and beyond excellence and highly recommend it. Very rare to find such an establishment and we will return. Great room and wonderful restful quiet night, thank you again Annabelle and Adrian the Hurst Arms in Eastbourne

Great for couples celebrating a special occasion as well as groups. Great barbecues in the summer. Nothing is too much trouble for the hosts.

This place is just lovely. Small pub with a Thai menu that I would say is the best Thai meal I’ve had. Really friendly efficient staff too. If you are visiting the Wimpole estate, this is about 10 minutes away and we’ll worth a visit.

First time visiting this Greene King pub. I must say tbe food was fantasic. Tasted incredible and the presentation was fantastic. The only critique I would say is separate the resturant a little more and maybe a makeover and tidy up. Theres nothing wrong with, just feels a little cold.

Called in last pre covid. We went to Wimpole Hall this morning (12/4/23) and decided to call in for lunch. We were surprised to find it is now a pub with Thai food. We were not disappointed. The beer was excellent, Timothy Taylors and Ruddles. The food was extremely tasty and the welcome and service was great. Highly recommended and we will certainly call again.

Very friendly hosts and staff. We had a delicious Thai meal with friends and then stayed the night. The room was immaculately clean and fresh, and very quiet. We had a very good nights sleep. The next morning we enjoyed a full breakfast that set us up for the day. Wish we could have stayed longer, but will certainly book again when we are in the area.

Amazing service and delicious thai food. We had red curry and green curry at our first visit and then at the second visit we had fried rice. Owners and staff are friendly, they make sure that you are happy with the service and food. If you fancy Thai food, this is a right place.

Very welcoming with plenty of car parking and outside seating . Clean and tidy interior with Thawanese style furnishings. Friendly staff who are pleased to explain the menu choices and explain the most popular thai dishes to people who are unaware of thai dishes. Plenty of choice for wines,beers and soft drinks. Vegetarian and vegan dishes available on both Thai and English menus. I had a pagonda curry with sliced rump steak (you choose the type of curry then which meat to go with the curry ) . This came with Jasmin Rice to accompany it , Other rices were available. Very tasty , spicey and plentiful portions which meant I could not manage a desert! Good value for money . A relaxed and enjoyable experience

Based on the reviews we had booked a table to celebrate a birthday lunch. We were utterly shocked with the horrible quality of food served. It was totally uncooked and smelly chicken. When we complained to the person in-charge of serving us, the food was taken back with no apologies. Extremely poor birthday lunch experience.

We stayed for a wedding and the rooms were perfect for what we needed. The Thai cuisine thats available is incredible and probably the best I've had in a very long time! The breakfast was very good as well. The hotel owner/landlord was very attentive and friendly, he couldn't be more hospitable and was a pleasure talking to him. We'd definitely come back!

Same people who do the Cricketers in Cambridge. This place is better. Much more room. In the summertime the oriental gazebos in the gardens are choice eating spots. Excellent sharing platter. We had lamb massamans, prawn red and the duck. All was faultless.

Great food and very helpful staff. Would highly recommend the slow cooked beef massaman and pad Thai noodles. Good portion sizes had enough to takeaway.

The staff here are very attentive, made sure we were looked after very well and they’re super friendly! The food was delicious also, everybody enjoyed it, personal opinion was that it was a bit under seasoned and some of it wasn’t cooked to my liking. Other that that, fab!

Lovely meal at Luk Thai at The White Horse. We started with chilli squid, and tempura prawns, and for mains had pork siam, and jungle duck curry. It was all beautifully cooked and presented. Heat levels were as requested. Service was quick and prompt and came with a smile. Cost very reasonable too. We chose to sit outside in one of the new Thai style seating areas. Definitely recommended.

Our first food - Thai takeaway - from this little gem and we were not disappointed! Delicious! Actually quite local to us and we have never been so can’t wait to try for the dine in experience in a few weeks hopefully!

Have had a number of takeaways from Luk Thai at the White Horse recently. The food is always very fresh and delicious. The delivery is always very quick and at the agreed time. Definitely recommend!

We ordered delivery from here last weekend and it was fantastic. Helpful staff on the phone, prompt delivery and wonderful food. V good Thai fishcakes, superb chicken satay (the best in Cambridge, according to my husband) a lovely red duck curry and a brilliant spicy larb among other things. I like the fact that rice comes free. Highly recommended

I ordered a Thai delivery a couple of hours in advance for a lockdown family birthday takeaway over Zoom. The delivery arrived right on time and the food was very good. Would recommend.

So glad the chicken I’d planned to cook for dinner, didn’t defrost in time! It meant we had a good excuse to pop over to our local & enjoy a drink by the fire, whilst waiting for our Thai takeaway to be ready. A lovely, cosy, welcoming pub & a delicious Thai takeaway for dinner. I’d highly recommend this as an alternative to the usual Sunday roast. Maybe I’ll forget to defrost things a bit more often...

Absolutely awful. Waited 45 mins for a starter restaurant wasn’t busy but they seem to concentrate on the takeaway side rather than dealing with the customers on the restaurant side.Had to keep asking for drinks, when mains finally arrived order was wrong, steak wasn’t cooked on how it was asked for. Rice was wrong and pad Thai was Luke warm.Female waitress said she would come back for drinks order never did.Would not recommend

Had our first Thai Takeaway meal this evening, absolutely lovely and tasty, only disappointment is that the Duck Tamarind that was ordered was not in the bag, and it wasn’t charged... look forward to our next and once COVID does one will defo be visiting for an Eat in Meal, it looks nice inside. 4 Stars now, but sure it will be 5 star next time

This is now Luk Thai restaurant. We visited for the first time tonight and were very impressed. 4 people, 8 different dishes (starters and mains), and everyone was very happy. All the food was fist class, spiced as described. Service was very friendly and efficient, and the Covid measures felt appropriate. We will be back.

Really good food and well worth a visit. My wife and daughter had the Thai and I had home made chilli with chips which was perfect.

We were shown promptly to a nice private table. Service was friendly. Starters were generous, next time we might share one between two. But so delicious we ate them all up anyway. Fine selection of main dishes. My daughter chose the giant king prawn, which she reported was very impressive and tasty. I had duck yellow curry - my favourite choice at any Thai restaurant. And this one was just perfect. Fab selection of ice cream, which finished off the meal nicely. We all agreed our meal was great.

2 adults and 2children who all appreciate fine food and service!!AND Good THAI!! This was our first visit (we shall have many more)the greeting and vivid service was superb we sat outside for drinks then went through to superb hand carved table we couldn't decide on a selection of starters to many favourites so we nearly ordered the whole menu NO regrets they were all amazing the mains that followed didn't let them down!!!! Panag was to die for!!!

I live locally and the restaurant has since reopened. We wanted to try out the new Thai food the white horse has to offer. We experienced really great food (price and quality), and really good service by two young girls. We will be back!

We needed B&B accommodation near Cambridge for 2 nights, and were delighted with the White Horse. Jeremy and his staff made us feel very welcome, and the extras of fresh milk for tea/coffee and water in the room were great. Breakfast was freshly cooked using high quality local produce, including Jeremy's honey. We ate on one evening in the restaurant and were impressed with the range and quality of the Thai food. We would definitely come back if we are in the area again.

We’ve heard good things since the new owners took over so decided to pop in for a pint. The food coming out looked good so we stayed for lunch. Pleased we did. Very tasty food. Great value. Lovely helpful staff. Will definitely be visiting again. Only wee ‘constructive’ criticism would be the batter on the Prawn tempura was a little on the heavy side. Besides that 5 stars all day long.

After drinking at the pub a number of times since its reopening, we finally decided to give the Thai food a go. The food was fresh, fragrant and absolutely delicious! The staff were also very polite and attentative. Being a local it's great that Barton finally has a pub that serves good grub amongst a nice relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely be returning!

We just stumbled upon this place by chance and I’m glad we did. New management have recently taken over and the food and service was fantastic. Very warm welcome by the friendly staff with social distance measures in place. Food was amazing can’t wait to come back!

The pub is now under new management and has significantly improved its offerings since my last review back in January. The Thai food is brilliant with generous portions and the owners and bar staff are very friendly. It was great seeing the pub so busy today with people enjoying the hot weather and we look forward to visiting again soon.

I popped into the white horse for lunch today as they have recently been taken over by the same people who successfully owns Luk Thai at The Cricketers. Noi and her team have outdone themselves again with their fantastic authentic Thai Food. They even have a great set menu for lunch which is super affordable, and especially with always working from home these days, this is the perfect place to get out for an hour or so for lunch. Today I had the Pad Thai and Chicken Satay as well as their very delicious Crispy Chilli Squid, honestly just amazing! The pub is really big, large garden, large car park, homely and has a fantastic bar staff - Georgia who made me feel very welcome. I am already fixing my next visit and I highly recommend this place.

The introduction of Luk Thai is amazing. Ordered food to take away and the whole process was smooth and painless. Staff were very helpful which was so nice. The main feature was the homecooked Thai food. I was amazed at how much veg and chicken I got in my Green Thai curry, this makes such a change from other thai places around the area. Thanks to the chef and team for a great meal and customer focused service.

Came here on a cold January Sunday. Place was virtually deserted but we had booked. I had the fish and chips and my partner the Praised chicken ( Their title not mine) both plates of food were excellent and really enjoyable and plenty of it. Highly recommend this place they have a great chef and the food is sublime

We used to visit this pub regularly due to the high quality food on offer. However, it now appears as if the management has almost given up. The service is always painfully slow, and this includes how long it takes for the food to arrive. This may have something to do with the fact there seems to be a high turnover of staff which makes it hard for people to be able to gain sufficient experience before they seem to abruptly move on. The restaurant is also very cold with only a few weak fan heaters being used whenever we visit now which is also off-putting. The food itself was tasty after it eventually arrived, but other than the waiter who served us the pub was a ghost town, and the lack of atmosphere was surprising so close to Christmas. The only other sound came from the rolling news on the TV in the bar, and I have to say it was my first pub meal listening to live updates of American politics! I hope this pub does improve in the coming months as it was once such a lovely community hub for Barton. It’s a shame to see the atmosphere and decor so sad and tired these days!

Went for Sunday lunch - four of us having visited the pub before. The Sunday roast was one of worst we had ever had from a restaurant. We refused to pay and only paid for drinks. The pub itself had no atmosphere.

We stayed for a week in this friendly relaxed Inn. The room was ideal and the breakfast excellent. The staff were friendly and very welcoming. Sadly we were not able to experience a meal in the restaurant due to our itinerary.The Inn is a perfect location to explore the area either by car or on foot. Would have no hesitation in returning to the White Horse Inn.

Visited on a weeknight with friends - had lovely “nibbles” platter to start followed by Portuguese steak, bacalhau (cod), espetadas(chicken or beef skewers). All were delicious! Other more traditional pub food is also available. We will certainly visit again!

We are on holiday in a nearby village. We found this restraunt on both google and trip advisor. It advertised a sunday roast served all day on Sunday. We rang and it was confirmed with no need to book. Arrived 6.30 Sunday and were served drinks and provided with menus. The pub literally had 6 people in. All were waiting for food and apparently ordered. Despite us asking twice as to when they would be taking our order we were never asked for our order and we left after 1 hour, handing the menus back. I have reviewed restraunts and cafes in numerous parts of UK and in a number of countries. I have never had such shocking service AND not even been asked for our order for 1 hour.

Ate dinner here on a Monday night. Decent pub food.Several nice areas to sit in. We sat on the pavement benches. Very good, friendly service from bar staff. Will visit again. Dog friendly.

We needed to get lunch on a trip across country and chose this place. It may not look too inviting but we had a fantastic meal that was better than we had expected. Salade Nicoise was served with tuna cooked to order and was lovely.

Found by accident when looking for somewhere for dinner. Checked TripAdvisor. Seemed ok from the reviews and pics. We were absolutely delighted. Food was fabulous. Nicest fish and chips I've had. Service fantastic. Friendly, welcoming, attentive. Highly recommend.

We had been out most of the day and were looking for somewhere for an afternoon meal. Had my 6 year old with us, so a pub open all afternoon is really helpful. Pleasantly surprised to see Portuguese choices on the menu (my wife lived there for 3 years many years ago). We were a little concerned to see an almost empty pub (apart from one large party), our concern soon passed though, the staff are amazing, welcome was really warm and food is exceptional. Dont expect food to be brought out in 30 seconds, good food cant be rushed :) My wife had the Seafood mixed grill, i had the PICANHA A BRASILEIRA and our son had the kids macaroni cheese (although he ate half of my wifes mixed grill) we also had some nibbly starters. Oh and i cant carry on without mentioning the Nata Custard Pie (its flipping delicious, my wife stated they were the best she had had in the UK) Feel bad because had no cash to add a tip and the card machine didnt offer the option, but we will be back :)

This place was such a treat! Warm, friendly welcome and amazing food! I just wish I lived closer as I would visit every week!

We were on our way to visit our son in Cambridgeshire and stopped here to have a meal.

We have been there for the Sunday Roast the first time. We were a little bit worried because there were hardly any other guests in the Pub at around 2.15 pm. The interior is very cosy. A bit old fashioned but that is exactly how a countryside pub should be in my opinion. They have a log fire place which adds a lot atmosphere to the pub.

We stopped here for lunch, which is advertised outside as a three course lunch for £7.95. I had tomato soup, grilled gammon steak with pineapple and a Portuguese Nata with ice cream. It was delicious and great value for money. My two colleagues ate burgers from a the al a carte section and they were equally pleased, although their burgers cost more than my three courses!

Been coming regularly for lunch (with the previous reviewers), and have also been with the family at the weekend. Food is great, staff friendly and helpful, all the children enjoyed their visit. The pub has an inviting atmosphere and is accessible from the M11.

We've gone here regularly for lunch - most of the lunch special menu is very nice - and the staff have always been friendly and efficient. The food is good, especially the lasagne.

I went here for an impromptu Friday night dinner out with my husband & was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food in offer here. We live locally but had never actually eaten here before, but on a recommendation decided to give it a try. The waiter was friendly, welcoming & helpful & our food tasty & well presented. I had monkfish & tiger prawn espetadas & my husband the pichana a brasileira. We’ll definitely return to try more of the food on offer.

The garden is nice and enclosed, so good for dog owners. The food is reasonably priced and very tasty. Well worth a visit.

We were passing through on our way from the Midlands to the Channel Tunnel. A very warm welcome and excellent service from Rodrigo. They offer a good selection of Portuguese dishes on the menu along with some more traditional pub grub for the less adventurous. Everything we ate was well prepared and very tasty. We will definitely return.

We had been out to the Comberton burial ground. Met up with family and decided to go for food, tried the nearest pub which was about the least appealing one I have walked into for man you years. Knew there was another nearby, the White Horse Inn. Arrived, walked in, we were welcomed in, the decor and ambience was so different, nicely laid out and friendly. We went for food, nice menu, not cheap eats but different, a Portuguese twist. The food we had was really tasty, this is a place worth visiting. Although we live 60 miles away will consider a revisit when we are next in the area. The family member who came with us and is local has already decided to come back and took contact details to book, that’s a recommendation!!

We expected local pub grub when we went to this place near to our holiday cottage. However we were treated to some excellent cooking with a Portuguese twist. The mains were delicious but the Portuguese Custard Tarts for pudding were to die for. We’re back tonight for second helpings before heading home tomorrow.

Visited here tonight for a meal and what a great experience! The service was exemplary and the food was a delight. I wasn't very hungry so opted for the tiger prawn starter with some fries and my husband had the monkfish and prawn espetada. My tiger prawns were delicious as was the salad that came with them with a very tasty dressing. The quality of the monkfish and prawns was superb and as good as we have had in Portugal! We are only in the area for a few days sadly but will return before we leave.

Went at the weekend with my family. We sat out the front in the garden in the glorious sunshine. Portuguese food offered is a welcome change from standard pub grub found on menus everywhere. My partner had a Greek salad which she enjoyed and was a hearty bowl full. I went for mixture of tapas. Prawns and clams were good but the cod fish cakes were my favourite. I also had the chicken satay flatbread. This was nice although it didn't taste much of satay. Little one tucked into some chicken nuggets and was given a free ice cream. Shame I had to go back inside to get another drink as they didn't do table service. I am sure that this would be different had we been sitting inside. Nice to have this on offer nearby to us and we shall be back soon.

We arrived to find no staff in the bar, we had a table booked, nobody came to ask if we wanted a drink or had we booked for lunch. We then decided to go directly to the dining room. Eventually a not so friendly waiter showed us to the table. They do a set menu, or flatbreads and salads. I decided I would like a started from the set menu followed by salad. You can’t do that said the waiter, so I ended up having a salad, which I had to wait quite a while for, it wasn’t the best salad either, the hallumi was over cooked. The waiter didn’t even bother to ask if our meals were alright. I don’t think I would recommend this place to anyone. Certainly not a friendly environment.

What a fantastic evening we’ve just had. Beautifully tasty starter! And we stuck with the Portuguese food as much as possible. The monkfish with king prawns worked well. Highly recommend, and the real ale is great too!

Were staying here for 2 nights. The rooms are separate from hotel. They are fabulous with all you need.clean modern and spacious comfy beds.

Our family has visited the White Horse before and we were disappointed but we decided to visit again in May on a Sunday evening. We booked in advance for 6pm and were warmly welcomed. The service was great, very friendly and prompt- sadly it ended there. The pub wasn’t busy at all but it took over an hour to get our 7 meals. One of us ordered a Monkfish and Prawn skewer but the Monkfish was watery and pretty tasteless. Another ordered a selection of tapas type food- potato skins, hummus and Tzatziki, bruschetta, codfish cakes and prawns but much of it was very oily and came with far too much bread. The codfish cakes were good but it didn’t make up for the rest.

Stopped off here for a late lunch today .. what a gem of a place! Such a surprise how great the food was! Massively impressed and would 100% return

My Wife ordered chicken satay flatbread - she got served a dry chicken breast with quite literally a spread of peanut butter on it. I was appalled that they think that’s acceptable. Roast beef ordered well done and it came bleeding on the plate. Burger was tasteless with brown edged lettuce in it. Overall food took a long time, service was moderate and would not recommend or go back.

Originally popped in for a snack, but was soon tempted by the Portuguese influenced menu.

Back when I was a young man, travelling out to a nice little country pub for a good pint and some nice grub was a weekend past time, now those times are few an far between more so because those nice little country pub are vanishing far to fast.

Very disappointing. Bank holiday Monday. We have visited this pub before it was traditional food. However now taken over and the menu is limited. Our granddaughter was looking forward to pasta bolonaise but not on menu. Food was so slow to come out. Waitress was new she could not speak English so orders were going wrong. Everyone was complaining.

I found this place on trip-advisor when searching for Portuguese food in Cambridge. We booked a table and came here in a group of 4 people. From the very first taste of the little morcels starters; smoked ham and olives, Tiger prawns, grilled chorizo, grilled...

Turned up on spur of the moment on a Saturday evening, met with a warm welcome. We had the tasty Portuguese morsels and the chicken and chorizo esbetadas skewers which was extremely deliscious. Service was good and we even had drinks brought to the table...

Went on a Monday evening....had delicious starters and then opted for the 'two for one' deal on mains, impressed by the variety of dishes included in this offer. Generous portions, very tasty! Friendly and attentive service.

Fabulous service! Warm welcome, lovely setting. The food was tasty, really good quality and was delicious. Nothing was too much trouble and if you had any questions they were answered straight away in an informative way. We will be back, highly recommend.

Came for a Saturday evening meal and unfortunately left disappointed.

We booked for 2 nights and on arrival were greeted with a smile by Adam who showed us the room which was warm and clean. We had a drink in the bar in the afternoon with a friend when we met Nuno, the owner who was extremely pleasant and you could tell he has a passion for his business. Breakfasts on 2 mornings were so tasty and the dinners in the evening were lovely. Daren't go on the scales after that experience!

It was simply wonderful. We stayed for one night. The afternoon we arrived the room was already heated up for us, which was great. The Inn is next to a main road, yet there was no noise at all. It has its own parking space, which was really pleasant.

Great service, superb food including the best Ploughmans for miles around. Also great value.

It was New Year’s Day we had just watched The Last Jedi and stopped off here about 15:45 and whilst they had just stopped serving food they said they would open the kitchen for us, great service. Great staff and sublime food, I had the chicken chorizo burger and my wife had the monkfish and prawn skewer, both excellent, good salad and fries with mine and a superb piri piri sauce for my wife. Both really enjoyed our food and time here, thank you for rounding off our day and making it a perfect start to the new year.

We recently spent 3 nights at The White Horse in Barton and have visited for the last 3 yrs at Christmas time.

My husband and I enjoyed a delicious meal at this restaurant. We had the ham hock terrine which was served extremely generously follwed by the espetadas monkfish and tiger prawn. Absolutely divine. It was a big improvement from the previous owner.

We revisited this pub with some friends after some years away. The atmosphere was very welcoming and it looked very clean. We ordered the famous Portuguese dish of chicken, monkfish or beef skewers which was delicious. I would have liked more chicken and less onions for the price charged. The young lad serving was very attentive and the service was very good. We will certainly go back and I think so will many others when they find this delightful pub.

Found this pub by recommendation from foodie shop at Burwash Manor. We were not disappointed. appetiser Tapas, mains included excellent range of British standard pub food, and Portuguese selections. We went for Portuguese. It was EXCELLENT. I'm going back next week for dinner and evening, taking three friends for another great evening sitting in front of an open fire. The new management adds a special flavour to menu, the quality of food preparation and presentation which was excellent, standard of service, and generous welcome to guests. This pub is going to be very popular when more people find out....

We hadn’t been for a while and decided to give it a try when friends came up for a weekend. We were not disappointed, the tapas for starters was fantastic, along with our mains of chicken & chorizo skewers and Brazilian picanha. The custard tarts for dessert were nothing short of stunning. The staff were attentive and the service was great. I would highly recommend this place - giving it a go once will have you hooked and wanting to go back for more!
