The best burger I have tasted in years, literally licked the plate clean. My son also concurred and wanted to come back the next day for another! Great beer too.

I would avoid unless you like to endure rudeness and the most unwelcoming landlady. Unfortunately what used to be great pub has been reduced to a place that has become intolerable for locals who used to frequent this establishment regularly. Food - average and overpriced Comfort - average with little room to enjoy food Atmosphere - as described above Hosts - dreadful

We’ve been dining here ever since the new management took over. We’ve always been greeted with a warm welcome and a friendly smile. Donna ,Paul and family have been excellent hosts and are helpful and obliging. If they can accommodate any special requests they will. The food and service has always been excellent and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the White Horse. Give it a try.

I have visited and eaten a number of times and the food is always top class. The hosts are accommodating and professional. I have noted some negative reviews recently- I was present at the time one of the reviewers was in and his review is simply not a true reflection of what happened. No complaints from me and the place is always busy so many folk must enjoy it! Don’t be put off by negative reviews.

Some of the recent negative reviews on here are totally unfair. Watching other people unable to control their kids is a joke. Allowing your children to throw jenga pieces around whilst other people are eating is bad manners. Having a go at the land lady is ridiculous and following her behind the bar is intimidating and not the right thing. Ignore the negative reviews , the food is excellent pub food. The staff are great and shouldn’t be treated like that.

My family and I have visited this pub a few times in the past and always found it to have a welcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately, today’s experience was nothing short of dreadful. While pub food isn’t expected to be gourmet, it should at least be edible and satisfying. Sadly, the food served today was some of the worst I’ve ever had. I started with the prawns, which were very basic but passable. However, the main course was a disaster. The lamb was dry, completely lacking in flavor, and almost impossible to chew. For dessert, I ordered the brownie, only to be served something that was stale and clearly over-microwaved. It was inedible. To make matters worse, the service was just as disappointing—rude staff, multiple mistakes, and a complete lack of care. Even the drinks weren’t handled properly, served in the wrong glasses and poured incorrectly. This experience was a massive letdown. I would strongly advise against dining here. At best, it might be a decent spot for drinks—but even then, I’d approach with caution.

We have dined here a few times with friends in recent months and it is consistently excellent. The family who run the place are very helpful and friendly. The food is really good (the last visit was with friends for Xmas dinner - our friend was on her third Xmas dinner and made the comment this was the best! Wide choice, vegetarian options well covered. A good range of beers (Vocation being my favourite). Following the refurb last year, the environment is very relaxing. We have also started using this as a local, the layout means that diners and drinkers can each have their own space without impinging on the other. highly recommend.

Probably the best soup I have ever tasted. Seasoned to perfection with amazing flavours. Oh,and the main course of duck and sautéed potatoes wasn’t bad either.

Our friend booked for Saturday 24/8 at 6pm. I rung the day before to check as my wife has MND and asked if we could have a table on ground floor, she said yes we have a table as you come in, will reserve it for you. I was very angry to say the least that our friend called Saturday afternoon to say she had received a call from Donna at the restaurant to say that they had received a large booking reservation and we would have to either sit on the high buffets or the upper level dining area, we said obviously as per the conversation we had with her the day before, this was not possible and would cancel, obviously had a better offer. Not good for business, won’t be booking again.

Fantastic pub for all occasions. Generous food portions and great value. The team make it a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

We had a really lovely meal on Friday evening. The chilli con carne was one of the best I’ve ever had. My husband had the fish medley and thought it was delicious and our friend enjoyed the lasagne. The waitresses were so polite and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The meals are such good value. It’s our local and we’ll definitely be returning. Well done to all the team.

Disappointed our relative (Helen H) has written the review below especially as we recommended the White Horse because we knew the food & service would be excellent. The service is always attentive & helpful with any requests but the staff were not given any opportunity to rectify the problem our relative had. Our meals were delicious & tremendous value as always.

Had a meal at lunch time. We chose the fish meal, it was very dissapointing. The fish fillets were very dry. I believe that the fish was actually left over from the previous day and reheated. It wasn't even presented nicely and the boring vegetables was just ok. The waitress asked after we had finished our meal if everything was ok? I mentioned that the fish was dry and rubbery, all she said was "thankyou I will let the chef know". Won't go again

Cannot fault the White Horse. Food is excellent at a very reasonable price. Superb friendly service from Donna,Paul,Mia and Fin. Would definitely recommend. Maybe an idea to book as it can get rather busy.

Excellent from start to finish. Engaging staff. Good choice of pre- dining drinks. Delightful atmosphere. Well executed dining service with more than ample choice, where nothing was too much trouble; extra gravy if needed. We stayed longer; enjoying a 3 course meal finishing with a good choice in coffees. Sadly, this had become a rare experience in recent years and an embarrasment if taking friends out.

Just been for second visit for lunch in 10 days and realise the first time wasn't a one off. Had sandwich lunch absolutely delicious. Perfect HOMEMADE chips. 10/10 lovely atmosphere great staff . Would definitely recommend will go back.

We’ve been eating here on a regular basis for over twelve months. Excellent pub food at a very reasonable price. Friendly and courteous staff. Will do everything they can for you.

First and last visit to this pub. The pub is clearly very popular as it was busy on the Sat evening that we were there but that meant that it was noisy too. We prefer somewhere quieter particularly when eating. The food that we received wasn’t horrible but it was underwhelming. Service was pretty slow too. I had a steak, ale & mushroom pie which was basically a bland stew with very thin gravy put into a small dish with a layer of pastry on top. I prefer a proper pie with pastry all around and a filling with a thick sauce. My husband had a salmon fillet with white wine sauce. He said the fish was drowned in too much sauce and again it was bland. It’s very rare that either of us add salt & pepper to food but we both had to this time. Now to the drinks. There was no drinks price list on our table. A gentleman on the next table asked for a wine list and was told they don’t have one - the lady just told him what they have (no prices mentioned as far as I could hear) The white Pinot Grigio was very low quality so for my second drink I ordered a rose Pinot Grigio which was slightly better. However when the bill arrived we found that each 175ml glass of wine was £5.95 and a pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord was £5 which in my opinion is excessive. We checked these prices and were told they were correct and that because the pub are forced to buy their drinks from the brewery they have to charge these high prices. The lady said “you can’t go into a supermarket and ask why the prices as so high” That may be true but you can see the prices before you buy and choose not to buy if you wish. If I had known that a 175ml glass of low quality wine was £5.95 I would not have ordered the first let alone the second. The price of a pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord at £5 is also a price my husband would not have paid. It is my understanding that it is a legal requirement for pubs to publish a full drinks price list but I didn’t see one whilst there. I subsequently looked on the pub’s website and it’s not there either. I emailed later to ask for one and it was not provided but I was told there is a blackboard with prices behind the bar. We won’t return to this pub.

Our first visit since the new owners took over the White Horse. The refurbishment has brightened up the pub and there is more space. We had Sunday lunch which was delicious and served promptly, the food was hot and we particularly liked the vegetables served separately. The atmosphere was friendly, the staff attentive and the whole experience was relaxed. We would not hesitate to return.

Disappointing. Cheap cuts/materials. Trying very had but need to up you game for Lightcliffe. Staff very friendly & hosts too.

A pint of John Smith's is a budget friendly £2 here on weekdays, so it competes with the JD Wetherspoons chain quite well on that base. A nice pub, quite compact but still nice. Pint was good, I'd happily come here again.

Was in the area today between appointments and thought we would call in . So glad we did the food was gorgeous and very reasonable for the 2 course lunch the added bonus that we could bring the doggo. Staff was very friendly and we will definitely be back.👍

Called in again for lunch while out for a walk. This is the third time I've visited this pub. I have to say the place has simple decor but the food is the star. Well presented, deliciously cooked food. Everything is fresh and not just heated up as in some chain establishments. The service was excellent on all my visits. Would highly recommend. I had Sunday dinner on my first visit, then lasagne and today the chicken and ham pie. All cooked to perfection. Love that the lasagne comes with salad and chips.

If you love hot,spicy food you’ll love their chilli. Probably the best pub chilli I’ve ever tasted,but beware it is HOT The White Horse never disappoints. Give it a try.

We have never had a bad meal at The White Horse, a nice locals pub and the food is exceptional, the menu has many choices plus there is always a specials board, can highly recommend the mixed grill.

We were staying nearby for the weekend and by chance stopped here on our way home, best decision we made, the staff were friendly and welcoming, the wine was lovely and the food was incredible. It’s a really nice relaxing atmosphere and I would recommend

Eaten here on several occasions and it never fails to disappoint. Always have the mixed grill which is plentiful. I know other people always enjoy there meals and the beers are always good.

We visited this pub on several occasions over the past year. We myself, my husband and a close friend, we have always been served by welcoming staff, polite, patient and friendly. The food is of a great standard for pub food, better than a lot of restaurants. The beer is hand-pulled, well kept and served perfectly.

Went in on a Sunday afternoon on the off chance they would have a table. This is obviously a popular place to eat as all the tables were either taken or booked. The staff were very pleasent and apolagetic. We stayed for a drink anyway. The beer was very good (Timothy Taylor & Black Sheep) Will book in advance next time)

Booked a table here for 6.30 on a saturday evening. When we arrived it was quite busy but we were very quickly served at the bar & shown to our table. To start we had the hot & spicy chicken wings that were very nice , but not too spicy in case you love your heat!. and the sea bass fillet that was cooked well & very good.

Excellent intimate pub with attentive staff and excellent food. Meat portion a little stingy I had 2 meats beef (1 slice) Turkey (2 slices) all slice were small and get thin 3mm ish. Starters and veg were perfect

We have lived near The White Horse for over two years now and in that time we have never once been disappointed with the service, food or drink. It is a wonderful family friendly traditional pub. Always comfortably busy and a nice place to socialise on an evening but equally delicious food served at meal times. The food is of a very reasonable price but very high quality, unlike many other pubs in the area you get a decent meal for your money rather than a tiny overpriced portion! The staff are friendly and helpful and dogs are even welcome too! Cannot recommend this pub enough!

Went for Mother’s Day and we all ordered the Sunday lunch. The meal was just ok. Disappointed with frozen Yorksire puddings and fairly bland veg. Our choices of deserts were sold out at the end and ended up with chocolate fudge cake! Overall just ok - wouldn’t rush back in a hurt tho!

We go most Sundays for Sunday lunch we have never been disappointed the pub is small and cosy the staff welcoming Stephen and carol the publicans are kept busy the food is varied and well cooked by carol.

First time I went the meat was pink horrible beef the turkey was like elastic really was undercooked this time I was told the beef would be served pink ??? Surely that should be a choice. Not nice at all not improved I done now not going again horrible

Decided on having tea out and chose to visit the white horse. Having received a warm welcome on arrival we were shown to our pre booked table. Browsing through the menu there is a fantastic array of dishes to choose from. We all ordered and our food arrived swiftly. I had fish pie, other orders were penne pasta chicken, chicken curry, mixed grill and beef baguette. Very quickly things went quiet. My fish pie was absolutely beautiful. Big chunks of smoked haddock salmon and lots of prawns. The rest of the family gave equally good recommendations to their dishes. All in all a fantastic meal great service and good value for money. Can't wait to return.

Best Sunday roast in brighouse bar none... ticks all the box’s... good real ale, friendly staff and atmosphere and to top it off great food. The portions are huge including the kids menu.

I booked our first monthly girly night with a health warning to staff and other customers. As we can get very giggly and loud. Took us on board. A wonderful evening. We pre ordered a fish plate and a meat plate for six of us to share as a starter. Outstanding! Far beyond any other we ve had! And the steaks were to die for and so much veg most of us left some on the plate. The best quality and quantity of food and wine at the best prices. Staff were very helpful nothing too much bother. We ll be back in January. Delish!

Hemos estado dos veces en la última semana. En primer lugar y esencialmente para nosotros la música es muy baja, así que es un ambiente relajado. La comida y el servicio era excelente y el pequeño comedor impecablemente diseñada, pero lo mejor de este pub es que el menú es realmente sólo un documento de discusión. Si no te gusta las patatas hervidas con verduras y 4 el asado los domingos, ¿guisantes blandos y patatas fritas recién cortadas, sólo pregunta. Gran lugar pero reserva un domingo, está lleno. Volver pronto.

Elegimos el whitehorse para una cena de noche. El pub es cálido y acogedor y lo suficientemente amplio para no sentir lleno. La selección de cervezas es buena, con una mezcla de cervezas rubias oscuro sirve perfectamente por el personal amable. El menú es de la leche con una buena elección. Yo opté por el cordero Henry que era delicioso mi señora tenía el asado del domingo, que a ella le encantó. El personal es amable y profesional y el precio es razonable. Volveremos pronto.

Recientemente me contactaron con el caballo blanco para hacer una reserva para 4 personas para el sábado a mediodía. La respuesta que obtuve fue "Bueno, yo no sé colgar". Podía oír un montón de apagado en el fondo hablando "Saben que tenemos un partido entrando, a qué hora quieren venir? "a qué hora eran pensando en venir? "" 12. 30:00 "me respondió. "usted puede venir bien si quieres, pero tienes que estar fuera por 2". No hace falta decir, dije "no gracias, iré a otro lado". Mis amigos y yo fuimos para nuestra segunda elección y tuvimos una comida realmente precioso y sin duda volveremos. No obstante, ir al White Horse. Creo que necesita para repasar su forma de teléfono.

I last visited The White Horse 60+ years ago. I have been many times since but not for quite a few tears now and not to eat. It was good to be back. We had booked a table for six and received a warm welcome. The menu was varied with plenty of choices: The food was excellent - well presented with very satisfying portions. We all really enjoyed our starters and mains but were too 'full up' for dessert. When I am next in the area I know where I shall be heading for lunch.

Have to say that even tho i have lived in the area all my life i have never been in the pub til last night.. The food was lovely .. didnt have starters but had steak pie and chips.. beautiful! My eldest has to have gluten free and the white horse do a fab selection off meals to accomadate.. the onlly let down was a local whos language left a lot to be desired.. i had a 7 yr old with me and moved her as didnt want her hearing what he was saying...

Old fashioned and tired looking pub in need of modernising. We booked a table for 6 a few days in advance. It took quite a while for a waitress to take our order although good value for money with a starter, 2x mains and a dessert with a bottle of wine for just £30. However, it took an hour for our starters to arrive! You wouldn't think that nachos, garlic bread and a couple of fish cakes would take long to reheat! It got to the point when we had to ask the waitress why they were taking so long! When they did eventually arrive, we enjoyed our nachos and thought the portion size was good. Luckily our mains arrived fairly quickly after our starter plates had been taken away. We all ate from the grill menu and everyone was more or less happy. We then had pudding which was nice although nothing special - just bought in and then reheated really. Overall, food was ok but nothing particularly special. Only good thing was the £30 deal. Main thing that was disappointing was the service, especially for a Thursday night. I'd perhaps expect a delay on a Saturday night but not an hours wait on a Thursday! Can't say I will be visiting again.
