Popped in for the ‘Beer & Burrito Festival What an absolute S**t show ‘beer and burrito night’. Lots of beers to choose from however on arrival a choice of 8 was available, we were told one of the other barrels had to run out before they replaced it with a beer that people may actually want to drink, also not as many as advertised. Ordered some food…. Had to stand away from all the friends and family to continuously glare at a screen waiting for my number to appear in ‘the wait area’ once my number did appear, and the ‘chef’ placed my food on a random table which was labelled as a collection point, my food was then taken by someone else, didn’t even end up with what I’d paid for, 28 min wait for some cold chips slapped with guacamole claimed to be ‘loaded fries’ 🤦‍♂️ not a very well thought out evening atall, such a shame! ‘Save The White horse’?? The place is definitely past saving! Community pub?? Next joke. Edit: this review was posted on a social media platform, the pub decided to remove the post and block myself from visiting the page in an attempt to hide the truth, avoid at all costs!

Despite all the covid and post covid problems the White Horse remains an outstanding pub. The always friendly and helpful staff serve too quality beautifully cooked locally sourced food (we've just had an outstanding Christmas dinner) & an excellent selection of well kept ales. A traditional village country pub. It always has a good selection of draught beers and the atmosphere is always welcoming with a log fire in winter. If you want tiny portions of pretty Michelin star food go elsewhere, but if you want traditional pub style food, good sized portions and nice pint for a reasonable price, give it a try. Having just had French onion soup, followed by a huge plate of slow cooked ribs, washed down by a pint of local bitter, I am truly satisfied!

This was the biggest wast of £95 we have spent in a long time!! The food was terrible. Firstly the chips were cold and dry and hard…inedible. They should never have been served. The sausage and mash was so poor. 3 tiny sausages, the jews were hard and tasteless. The gravy was tasteless and tepid. The creamy mushroom tortellini was watery and sooo much garlic. Not pleasant at all. We used to come here regularly when the food was great. Charlie was the manager and it was a joy to come here. There is no way we will come back.

just spent a week staying in a cottage at Upton and popped into the White Horse every evening. A really nice community pub, well run, good food and some really interesting beer. As a beer lover I like to try new beers whenever I can and I was spoilt for choice. No generic beers but a good choice of local brews which were constantly changing. The pub is dog friendly and the team working there are excellent! When holidaying in the UK a local, dog friendly pub with good beer and great staff is a must and the White Horse came up trumps Will hopefully be back very soon

The community run pub is three quarters of the way round my favourite morning walk (From / to South Walsham via the River Bure and Upton marshes), so the opportunity to have Sunday lunch was not to be missed. The pub garden is extensive and it is necessary to book at a weekend. Adherence to Covid restrictions is strictly observed and the service is exemplary. That the pub garden is popular was demonstrated by the slate on my table, showing bookings at 12.15, 2.00 and 4.00pm.The White Horse stocks Adnams Ghost Ship, so my choice of a pint was not difficult. The menu is quite extensive and for a starter I chose the salt and pepper squid with garlic Mayo. This was really good. I then made a classic error by overriding my better judgment to order roast beef when I could have ordered either roast chicken or roast pork or anything from the regular menu. The roast beef was not good; grey, thinly sliced, over cooked tasteless meat whilst the roast chicken looked really appetising. Each Sunday roast is accompanied by a huge Yorkshire pudding (which was very good) and a lot of vegetables; roast potatoes, green beans, broccoli, cauliflower, red cabbage, carrots and mashed swede, most of which were, disappointingly, overcooked. However, after a long walk with more walking to come, lunch hit the spot and I will return because this is a lovely pub, run by lovely people and great service.

Lovely to be back at this wonderful pub and it's large garden. We have been lucky with the weather and decided to go for a walk and then have breakfast. Sat in the new seating area which works well, and ordered coffees and breakfasts. A little wait, but it was cooked fresh so we weren't worried at all. Check out the online menu for all options, I had to add a fried slice, but you can have just a bacon bitty if you want. Also ordered a sausage for the dog, not on the menu so just ask. £1 I offered for it and the dog was happy! There have been some staff changes since last year but the staff remain a friendly bunch, and some of the familiar faces are just lovely.Pop into the community shop next door and see what they have on offer too..Looking forward to proper dining once it is open inside as the aged parents can't sit outside, a little too cool for them at the minute.

After several hours walking in the Broads we were ready for a pie and a pint. The White Horse filled the bill perfectly. The beer (Wherry) was good and cool and the steak and ale pie was the best for a long time; served with chips and peas it made a very satisfying lunch and set us up for the afternoon’s walk. The Covid precautions are fine, you have one order station and then your order is delivered to your table. The weather was beautiful so we sat in the large garden, well separated from other tables and there is a large marquee in the event of inclement weather. The pub is owned and run by the community, as is the little village shop next door and deserves our support.

We come in regularly now when in the area since finding it one winter after visiting the seals in Horsey.I usually book via email and receive prompt friendly replies. They have a great range of drinks, fabulous food and excellent toilet facilities for families and the disabled. We visited when the eat out to help out scheme was on and the measures they have put in place for social distancing are excellent. These are definitely trying times for pubs and they've adapted really well.We ordered the steak pie, lasagne and chicken casear salad. While the portions were smaller and dishes quite basic they were still delicious. The only complaint would be the caesar salad dressing was mixed in to the whole dish rather than drizzled over the top and it was very strong. We'll definitely be visiting again in the future when hopefully things are more back to 'normal'.

We made a telephone booking on the eat out to help out nights without any issue. The tables are outside or under a marquee and we saw staff cleaning down between sittings. You order food and drinks outside at a kiosk and they call you once they are ready. There are lots of good Covid measures in place - one way system to toilets etc and we felt very safe eating here. Food is served in take out boxes, which is fine for burgers but possibly many people would prefer a plate which could be hot washed? I didn’t mind it though. I was really impressed to see that as well as having a good children’s menu they also offer a veggie children’s choice too. Our child’s meals were also good. My husband had fish and chips which was really lovely - the White horse has always done a great fish and chips! I had the halumi and roasted pepper burger with chips and slaw which was lovely. Meals came quite quickly and there was a lovely atmosphere sitting in the garden. Lots of well behaved dogs sitting by picnic benches. This pub is run by the community so it is a good one to support. There is also a decent community shop attached to the pub and lovely walks by the broads near by.

Decided to pop here yesterday for lunch, however we ended up going elsewhere. On arrival all outside tables were occupied except for the marquee (which we didn't think anything of as people are more likely to be enjoying the sun). So we were in the marquee for a minute or so and a female member of staff comes out to say that we can't sit there as it's booked for a private event. Obviously that's fine, but why not put a sign out to say that? They used to put reserved signs on the tables inside so don't know why they didn't do the same in the marquee. Took dogs for a walk and came back approximately 20 mins later but still no tables free (and you can't book them either). Decided not to wait any longer, so we went elsewhere. Maybe a time limit should be introduced on the tables to give other people a chance! Really disappointed as we're local so been here a few times before and always found staff friendly. Plus they allow dogs inside which was always a benefit in the winter.

Good social distancing in the beer garden with ample of space between tables. Now this pub previously was a regular go to for good pub grub. Why they feel it's now necessary to serve all meals in takeaway boxes with plastic cutlery is very strange. To get your food a member of staff shouts your surname across the garden for you to collect it in a crate and if you want a drink the same happens from a different collection point. You also have to clean your table after eating too. We dined on the "eat out to help out scheme" however even at 50% discount it was well over priced, due to poor quality food.

All seating is in the garden, with a marquee for inclement weather. They have erected a kiosk called the fabulous 'social distance inn' where you order food and drink, then the pub staff bring it out and call you to pick up your order. The tables were very well spaced. The menu has been simplified but with all the usual pub meals available and very reasonable. Food was served in disposable packaging. Upon entering it was obvious that this was very much a community pub with lots of locals having a Boxing Day lunchtime drink. We ordered our drinks and I noticed that there was a good selection of real ales and ciders - all priced reasonably. After being shown to our table in the conservatory at the rear we placed our orders. What arrived was excellent no frills home cooked food, full of flavour and generous portions. I had a double stacked burger but with hindsight a single would have been enough. The burger was obviously homemade being very meaty and didn't taste false. We didn't opt for a desert as we were too full, but as with the mains there was a good choice available. This place is a bit off the beaten track, you can't stumble across it but only find it if you know where you are going. I went to the White Horse last night with 5 other colleagues from work. The food was outstanding. Beef wellington starter was delicious. Pastry to die for! The lamb main course was cooked beautifully with lovely rich gravy and a selection of freshly cooked veg. The lemon posset was obviously 'homemade' with a dense creamy flavour of fresh lemons. Absolutely miles better than the meal I had at the Ivy in Norwich recently & at a fraction of the cost! Merry Christmas to the chef & staff.

Came here for lunch with my family after my elderly grandmother read about it online. 3 ate baguettes and very much enjoyed them, 1 ate a fish pie which was “delicious” and I ate the steak and ale pie which was absolutely amazing. Generous portion sizes & prices considering this pub is community run.

A pub owned by the local community serving really good food. Good menu covering all the usual pub meals with friendly and efficient service.I had whitebait with garlic bread (both starters but made a great main when paired together) and my wife had chili con carne with rice and tortilla chips, both of which were very well prepared.

Visited as moored at Upton Dyke. Beer very good and food excellent. Both had burgers which were superb with great quality meat. Sat for a while then decided to have dessert. Apple pie portion a bit disappointing but on the whole a great evening. Will be going back.

We are on holiday in Norfolk and called here last weekend after seeing the great reviews on TA. We most certainly were not disappointed. The food is excellent as is the service served by friendly attentive staff in a truly authentic village pub. We were so impressed on our first visit that we have since called again. Definitely not one to be missed.....outstanding.

What an amazing pub, such a warm and friendly atmosphere. Good choice of beers and ciders along with gins and rum! Will need to visit a few more times to work my way through them all Good food choice as well and everything we had was very scrummy. We were very impressed with all the staff who were all super friendly and efficient. A proper pub and proper dig friendly.

A beautiful restaurant with lovely decor throughout the eating area and the bar, brilliantly dog friendly with a lovely big garden out the back for the dog to run around in. Food and staff were great... the only downside was the pudding we wanted wasn’t in stock but aside from that I could not fault this eatery at all. Thank you for a delicious meal, a place to take the dog and an all-in-all wonderful experience.

The White Horse managed to accommodate our party of 10 at short notice on a very busy Sunday night. Adults and children alike had tasty, well-cooked meals, the steak and ale pies were proper pies, not just puff pastry tops, and utterly delicious! There was a good variety of vegetarian options too. The staff were friendly and efficient and the cost was very reasonable. I’d highly recommend The White Horse - you won’t be disappointed!

Everything about our visit here was fantastic! Greeted with a smile by wonderful, smart and friendly staff. All food was delicious (and I do mean ALL) Reasonably priced and good choice. We sat outside as was very warm and thankfully they had wasp traps so no bothersome buzzing while we were eating. Dog friendly with plenty of bowls and fresh water and even doggie treats. Really couldn’t fault it at all!

We were fortunate to have lunch at The White Horse while visiting my uncle yesterday. The pub is community-owned, which I loved, and this really shone through in the quality of service and traditional pub “feel”. We waited a while for our food, presumably because of a small kitchen. However, it was all freshly prepared and piping hot when it arrived. The prices were very reasonable - my ham, egg & chips was excellent value at £8.95 - and the local beer, Humpty Dumpty, went down very well. There’s a great little community shop attached to the pub too. I look forward to a return visit the next time I’m in Acle.

Food was excellent and plentiful. Well worth a visit if you haven't been before. If you have been here before, no doubt you've returned!

We were looking for a pub to visit on the way home from hiring a boat at Sutton Staithe boat yard that served food all day, The White Horse had good reviews so we popped in. Such a lovely warm welcome from all the staff , good choice on the menu although we knew we wanted a Sunday roast. Sunday dinner was really good value, we had chicken and lamb and a kids chicken dinner, huge dish of fresh veg, homemade yorkies and lovely gravy, all delicious. We all had puddings which were homemade too. Really relaxed atmosphere and just brilliant that's its a community pub.
