Although we enjoyed our haddock, chips and mushy peas, I'm pretty darn sure this fish was frozen rather than fresh. Maybe fresh is just not practical given the amount of business the pub is experiencing. The décor hasn't been touched for many a year and all four of us had to keep our coats on through the meal. The steak and ale pie was off the menu, no explanation as to why. Bateman's XXX is a beautiful pint and the landlord was perfectly decent (although he did ask me to go and park my car at 90 degrees to the road as 'locals' would likely block me in. The car park remained almost empty throughout, but I did as asked. Just couldn't see the point of it, that's all. The landlord's dog is a beaut and brightened everyone's day.

Food was amazing. Couldn't fault it, until the incredibly cold slim waitress assumed I wanted a slim line tonic, I'm now currently having a tactical puke to rid myself off the calories. Cheers love

Definitely a pub of the old school - the ceiling is so low I think you would have to bend your head to avoid hitting the ceiling if you were taller than about 6-foot. The landlord was very friendly, although seemed to be not in the best of health. My friend and I had specifically visited on account of the steak and ale pie and the landlord said he would have to make sure they had some left, which they did (this was a Tuesday). Personally I prefer my steak pies to be shortcrust pastry all round, and this was flaky pastry just on the top, but the contents were very generous, hot and tasty. We were the only couple in the restaurant but the pub side appeared to be rammed to the rafters with what appeared to be 'locals' coming for a lunchtime drink. Service was good and although the surroundings were a shade 'tired' it all seemed very clean. Desserts, again, were running low on the number available. We both had the syrup sponge pudding with custard for dessert, which was exceptionally good; really melt-in-the-mouth. Overall very good value for money.

The White Hotel provided an oasis of calm in between visiting a very busy medieval Lincoln centre and its attractions. We enjoyed an evening meal in their restaurant and though as expected prices were towards the more expensive, service and quality was good.

A pub with a pleasant quiet atmosphere where it is possible to have a conversation without being drowned out by loud pop music or hen parties. The beer was good and the staff very pleasant. We were the first in the dining room at 19.00 and perused the menu. The starters did not appeal to us at all so we gave them a miss. However, the main courses gave an excellent choice. We opted for the tarragon chicken and the sea bass. Fourty minutes later the dishes arrived and they were first rate. No fewer than five different vegetables were gien and the chips were the best I have eaten for many years - the chef knows his job! We will certainly be going again and hope that the waiting staff are a little more attentive.

On entering the White Lissington on the evening of 10th April 2019 my mind immediately flashed back 60 years to the days of real country pubs, an atmosphere long forgotten. No juke box, piped music, flashing lights, plastic fittings and such like. But, friendly host, excellent service and a real fire, how I wished I lived closer than 120 miles away. In addition the food was excellent well cooked, presented and at a most sensible price. Very highly recommended.

We went to the White Hart for Sunday lunch. We found it to be a traditional old pub with beamed ceilings and pleasant atmosphere. Can't comment on the cooking as I had a plowman's lunch! My only minor grouse was that my plowman's didn't have pork pie. Nevertheless, it was a good sized serving and very enjoyable. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We were in the area, scratching around for the first time, to see what history we could discover about the Bomber Command Operations which dominated much of Lincolnshire, during World War Two: mostly between 1941 and 1945.The White Hart Pub is situated at Lissington, and was named by Squadron Leader Jack Currie, as the occasional watering hole of bomber crews based at the old RAF Wickenby airfield located nearby .The pub itself is very old, and so far as can be ascertained is open from 11am to 11pm each day.We booked and arrived at 7.30 pm on Friday evening. At first we accidentally entered the public bar section. There was a healthy log fire burning brightly with flames licking up the chimney, and around this sat four locals , soaking in the heat, and enjoying a pint of beer. After some humorous dialogue with them, we entered the dining section of the pub on the other side of the bar. Here we found a dedicated dining area with period tables and chairs arranged for meals. The furniture belonged to a past era, and added to the soft ambience of this traditional place. We purchased our beer and cider from the bar, and then sat down at the allocated table, where our food order was taken. All the staff, and the proprietor, who is an active staff, member, served us with happiness and wit.The food was very good, in fact excellent. It was hot and flavoursome and much enjoyed. The pub does not actively promote, or trade on it's historic connection to the RAF, but a fitting record, with photographs is contained in the small adjoining pool room.

Came here just for a drink whilst out shopping and walking round getting our bearings and popped in here for an Irish coffee for me and a beer for hubby. The Irish coffee was lovely and the place isn't bad either!! It was Mother's Day when we went, and they were doing a roaring trade in afternoon teas which looked fabulous, especially when I looked and they were only charging £9 pp!!! Lovely crisp white linen tablecloths aswell so makes it a bit more special. Cocktails looked good too.

My husband and I called in on the off chance on a Saturday evening with a hungry 10 yr old! Nothing flash in either decor or menu, does look a little run down at first glance but staff were very welcoming. The steaks were perfectly cooked and portions generous but not overloaded. Locally sourced meat and produce are fantastic quality- very reasonable prices considering- around £20 for steaks and £10 ish for other dishes. Not an extensive menu as in pub chains etc but ample choice, it is not a large pub who produce huge volumes of food- definitely a case if quality over quantity. We will definitely be back so hope that doesn't change to attract higher volumes if diners. To answer others' criticism, we quite liked the brass decorations and traditional furnishings, there's nothing wrong with the 70s if the food's this good!

I had never been to the White Hart at Lissington before however due to its close location to the Broadbent Theatre we booked a table for 11 people for Sunday lunch. The pub is very oldy worldy and very cosy. The fire was lit near the dining table which added to the cosy atmosphere. The food did not take more than twenty minutes to come and when it did it was delicious. There were two vegetarians amongst us and the vegetarian dishes were also superb. The staff were friendly and the service was brilliant. They cooked exactly what my daughter has asked for despite it not being on the menu and they gave her smarties afterwards. I will defninately be going back and I would highly recommend it!!!!

Being fairly local I eat and drink here regularly and though it's a subjective thing, I absolutely love the old fashioned style and atmosphere of this pub. There's something sad about the loss of many of our old fashioned country pubs and it's refreshing to know that there's still places like here where you can wander in, sit next to a nice big open fire and natter away to the locals. I've eaten from both the bar and restaurant menus and it's always good. Perhaps the menu could be slightly updated but on the whole there seems to be a decent selection for any taste. Staff and landlord are always friendly and welcoming whenever I visit and if you're bored by all the modern boutique and chain pubs then try this.

We had a pleasant meal and drink there with two friends. The menu had a good variety and apart from the steak which reached the dizzy heights of £21, the rest seemed pretty good value. The place did seem somewhat down at heel and in need of a little TLC: I noted the covers of some ankle height radiators were off just inside the entrance. The outside was rather grubby. The service was fine from a young lady whilst the landlord ( I presume) did not have more than a perfunctory 'have you decided yet ' approach. We were there with friends rather than as secret shoppers but i suspect there are better pubs in the area - well there must be as this is a county steeped in famous pubs harking back to those tough wartime years. But there were some 6 others there so it was not just us. The two ladies had a seafood platter at about £9 and the gents had a gammon steak at just under £11- the steak being frankly absurdly over priced. There was a laminated dessert sheet handed out. Wines were fairly priced. Atmosphere very limited for a Saturday evening

Step back in time to the 1970s - this pub has is all – patterned carpet, faded furnishings, dated menu and even the archetypal miserable landlord. We couldn’t believe that a pub that is so well placed and looks so attractive from outside could feel so neglected once you’re inside. I bet the menu hasn't changed in living memory, with everything that you could have expected forty years ago to be there including the ubiquitous “Duck a l’Orange”. The welcome was so non-existent that I even had to ask the landlord whether he was open or not – what a way to be running a business! This place should be buzzing, but is just another one to add to the unimaginative and disappointing pubs in this area.
