It was a bargain at £10 each which included food drinks prizes the best balloon art I have seen each child had an individual item made for them by the entertainer who was superb we ended up spending a great 4 hours there well done guys can’t wait for the Christmas party .

I went here with a friend late afternoon/early evening on Sunday There was a nice friendly atmosphere and the customers were friendly and welcoming. The pub is nicely decorated and clean. The Manager, Rob, is very friendly and made me feel very welcome when I said I had just moved to the area. You can even take your dog in. I like this pub and will definately going back very soon. Highly recommend.

Went here for lunch with my friend lady behind bar was lovely but was very disappointed with visit, not very child friendly no kids menu so opted for mash and gravy but unfortunately mash had peppercorns in and my little one got upset cause was hot so I had to give her my jacket potato, I wanted coffee but no milk even tho a member of staff clearly walked past with some milk, more than enough for a coffee, I thought customers came first but obviously not far from impressed I would give it a miss next time

We had a meal here in July 19. Speaking to the bar staff the pub has changed hands again - this time a local chap who has lived in the area all his life know has the tenancy. Apparently the new landlord apart from being a local is also a hugely experienced chef! The menu has much improved and the quality has gone up, but the prices seem a little lower - so that's a win-win for everyone. The food was excellent - the quantities were just about right, it was served with a smile and at the right temperature. The wait was just long enough to settle down, enjoy our drink, but not too long. This is a great local pub that has recently suffered from lack of investment, and tenants who didn't seem to know the area. There is a separate 'bar' area and a 'restaurant' area which will keep everyone happy. There is a good sized car park, and dogs appear to be welcome.

Three friends and I, all from California, are on a walking tour of the Cotswolds. We are staying in various inns as we walk about. We have stayed two nights at the Wheatsheaf, and had breakfast and dinner here. The rooms are quaint and comfortable and the staff has very accommodating. While everyone has been welcoming and more than pleasant, I’d like to say that Joseph is a real gem. Not only did he anticipate our needs, he was funny and approachable. Often those in the service industry say, “it is my pleasure...” - Joseph made those words more true than I have ever encountered. Thank you.

Having been here Mother’s Day,We just had to return for a midweek meal. Before I go on let me just point out this is not just pub grub its food of high quality .I just can’t figure out why people criticise. If you want too end food go to a top end restaurant.Ok let’s get to the point,There was six of us arrived sat evening,we had not booked but we got taken to a table which was spare in a very busy period. We all had starters ranging from cheesy garlic bread to brandy mushrooms mm you must try.I had the sea bass,my wife bang bang chicken my daughter and son in law both had the seafood and pasta dish my friends the whale of a cod and chips.I can say without hesitation all meals came up to expectations the sea bass with its crispy skin and the bang bang chicken dish which I had to try was unbelievable. This venue must be tried. The staff are exceptional, well mannered and the chef who produces these dishes is something specialWe will again be back for more food delights so keep up what your doing best.A big thank you the chef and all members of staff who catered for us.

The pub itself is a little gem of a place to be honest, my wife and I had our first date there nearly 19 years ago to the day and we have seen many changes in that time! Yesterday was the first time we have eaten there under the new management and whilst I enjoyed my meal my wife did not but just got a very sarcastic reply which I feel was unnecessary. We spend a lot of money with you. I guess if you are looking for a review or the way the pub is going you need to look no further than the place was practically empty on a sunny Easter Saturday where as before you'd be very lucky to get a Seat inside or out!

Just got back from wheatsheaf it was a lovely sunny day so after a nice drink in the garden decided to extend to a meal with my husband and daughter. This was a huge mistake! Pizza was just a base caked in lots and lots of tomato puree and the worst was prawn and chorizo linguine which was very overly fishy and the sauce was a runny clear liquid with an extremely disgusting and bland yet fishy flavour. I actually began to worry the prawns may have been on the turn due to fishy smell. Needless to say I did not eat it and even though I expressed my concerns nothing was done about it either. This was a favourite pub a few months ago where I'd frequently eat, sadly I will never eat here again. I have never had such an awful meal anywhere!

After reading a couple of reviews, I felt I had to write something. I've been coming to this little gem of a pub for a few months. My last visit was a real treat. We were greeted warmly by a gentleman we now know as Rob, and shown to our table. He explained the menu to us, and boy, does he know his gins. He advised us what mixer goes best with which flavour gins, and even gave us his recommendations, and told my mum if she didnt like it, he would buy it for her out of his own pocket. (He didnt have to pay, it was perfect!) The man never stops. He was constantly stopping to chat to other tables, making sure everything was ok. I think they had a new member of staff on, as he was constantly asking if she was ok, and explaining different things to her. Every member of staff we came into contact with was friendly, approachable, and went out of their way to make sure everyone was ok. It was nice to see staff working, and not standing around looking at their phones all the time, as has happened on previous visits. Yes, I did see Rob go outside for a cigarette, but no one can begrudge someone of taking a break! The reviews I've read are nothing but vindictive in my opinion. Please, go along, and see for yourselves just how good this little pub is. Some people just don't like change, but if this is what change looks like, I'm all for it. Keep up the good work.

We always believe in giving the benefit of the doubt. So despite hoards of bad reviews we decided to try our favourite Northampton eatery under the new management. It would be under reacting to say we were disgusted by every aspect. I’ll begin with the food. To describe it as poor would be too nice, this is the only time in the history of me and my group of friends eating out (which we do very often) felt like walking out with out paying, absolutely disgusting - I’d also like to add that we were informed by a member of staff that the landlord cooked the food... I think a McDonald’s trained chef would do a better job! Secondly the staff. I would state that this new range of staff, bar Adam (who is still a firm favourite of ours) are diabolical. We were mainly served by a older man named Rob... no offence to him but you might as well of picked him up from the corner of a street and told him his got a job. Absolutely atrocious food, drink and customer service knowledge. How he got a job I will never know, as with the other staff. The cleanliness of the place is also far below par. Do you have a cleaner? That alone was enough to put us off returning. I hate leaving bad reviews but I’m genuinely shocked at how such a classy place could go down hill so quick. To the old owners, Sam and Victoria, we miss you and please come back and save it with it’s former glory. To the old staff, Luke, Holly, Charlotte, Lawrence etc... we miss you too and wish you were still here to show these new hooligans how to run a classy establishment!

We tried to have dinner there last Tuesday at 7pm. We arrived and were told the chef was upstairs, so got invited to go in the bar area for a drink while the (very young/unexperienced) waitress was informing him of a table of 4 waiting. Five minutes later, the said waitress informed us that the chef was not going to come down to serve dinner... So I guess the new 'owners' do not need the custom of 4 people. They obviously have too many good reviews and customers as it is to refuse us.

My ploughman's had a home made pork pie, interesting cheese, what seemed to be warm home made chutney and proper ham. We didn't really like the beer we chose first but the fellow behind the bar was only too happy to change it and our second pint was delicious! Very pleasant surroundings and friendly staff. It was forecast to be the hottest Spring Bank Holiday Sunday ever, so what to do for lunch? Could I manage a traditional roast or should I hang around wait to be invited to somebody else’s BBQ? Decisions, decisions – and so, opting for the former, it seemed obvious to go to the ever-impressive Wheatsheaf. I enquired if they had a table for one, a risky strategy as they are normally already fully-booked before the day. My hunch that the weather being so good would possibly send people clambering for a seat in the garden rather than the Dining Room paid off and I was soon shown to a table. My earlier decision-making adventures now stood me in good stead since before being presented with the Menu I had assumed that a first course would be a straightforward choice of something like a prawn cocktail or Pâté followed by a roast with trimmings. This is most definitely not the case at the Wheatsheaf! On this particular Sunday there were six or seven Starters that I could quite easily have ordered for a main course. After several minutes of hopeless indecision, I still couldn’t decide between two, so took the only possible option and ordered both! A wonderful “scampi” dish comprising the largest freshest king prawns I have tasted in years joined by an utterly superb combination of lamb’s liver, bacon and crispy onions. I moved on to a perfect roast lamb served with vegs’ from the Wheatsheaf’s own allotment garden - something that was so befitting the beautiful weather. Now be warned, the menu also offers “Side” dishes for two that include “Stuffing”. Do not be fooled by this simple description - this is most definitely not Paxo! Here is a good old fashioned proper homemade forcemeat preparation containing excellent sausage meat. Again, this would make an ideal meal on its own and is so tasty I could not stop myself from finishing the whole bowl. Although completely full by now I could not allow myself to be denied a dessert. Again, a really difficult choice between so many homemade options. I settled for Sticky Toffee Pudding accompanied with the most divine sauce. The only problem with Sunday Lunch at the Wheatsheaf is that four days later you’re hungry again! Many thanks to the truly excellent kitchen brigade and ultra-wonderful waiting staff.

Some of the puddings were enormous (sticky toffee) and my son particularly enjoyed chocolate brownie with blood orange sorbet. Catered for kids sized meals and the service was excellent.

Called in today with visiting friends from Spain for a typically British Pub lunch. We each had an open sandwich of pulled beef or chicken. The generous and delicious food on all four platters was enjoyed beyond belief. Definitely coming here again. Staff very attentive...

Been here twice now for an evening meal. The pub is lovely if you just want a drink in a comfortable and friendly setting. The food in the restaurant is great and staff very friendly. Lots of menu choice at a very reasonable price.

What a fab night! We sat in the bar so we could join in the quiz but we had food too. The burger was one of the best I’ve had! They asked how I wanted it cooked and then got it right. The quiz was great fun and a good mix of questions. Great atmosphere and good local support.

Whilst lost in Northamptonshire as the A605 was closed between Thrapston and Oundle this weekend, we called in to this establishment for lunch. The contents of my pie was one 5mm square piece of chicken, a taste of the apricot, and definitely not 1 of the 5 of the daily vegetables on the side. Those I observed eating the roast were on a winner for the amount of meat. Sorry but your pies are not the value you charge. I know you are off down minor roads, but as your pies are made elsewhere, your supplier ought to be informed. I normally give good reports but on this occasion I really cannot.

Set pleasantly in Dallington old village centre, long ago subsumed into Northampton, between the school and the church. I called in whilst on a longish bike ride for a quick one on a hot afternoon in April. It must be years since the last time I came here. I found a pub with a comfortable "library" lounge, pleasant bar area, super garden. Service was efficient but more than that, friendly in just the right way. The Everards' Tiger was in perfect condition and for the peckish, homemade sausage rolls on the bar. No music, no telly, just people talking. Maybe not perfect but pretty close at that moment!

Great atmosphere in a pub tucked away in an old village within Northampton. Staff (Holly), was very efficient and friendly, and chef clearly took great care in creating and presenting our food. Have already recommended to others.

Please can you ensure that staff are trained on allergies. The pleasant young waitress gave excellent customer service right up to the ordering of coffees. We both clearly asked for decaf and settled for a flat white from the options given. What we received were full cups of filter coffee with separate jugs of hot milk. We ate early and left around 9pm. It’s now just gone midnight and I’m fully awake and about to enjoy a sleepless night. Thank you. You’ve no idea how rough this is going to make me feel tomorrow at work, and it will take me several days to catch up from this. Nice.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and evening at The Wheatsheaf. Dallington is a lovely village within the town of Northampton and the Wheatsheaf is part of that feel. My wife and I had the hake which was lovely and a friend had the burger which was also very nice. Portion size was good but not daunting. Abbie looked after us well.

Great old building the service was very friendly and prompt both at the bar and in the eating area, the food was excellent a very high standard and you can see the kitchens. There is not a massive menu but the food they do as I have said is an excellent standard so I personally would rather that than a huge menu done not as well. The menu caters well for gluten intolerant, vegetarian, and vegan foods and shows if the food contains nuts, and is reasonably priced. We will definitely be going back!

We visited again for a family birthday meal last Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The food was as ever fabulous - we highly recommend the Sunday roasts which in my view are the best available in town. And the usual war, friendly service we received (this time from Holly) made the occasion flow smoothly. Well worth a visit any time of the week, but especially on a Sunday.

Visited for Sunday lunch for my father in laws birthday as heard some good things about this place. To be honest I wasn’t expecting much but I was very pleasantly surprised. The bar area is bright and modern, drinks reasonably priced and staff were really friendly. Once we went up to restaurant we were welcomed by a lovely friendly waitress, tables were well spaced out and the room was bright and airy. Reasonable menu choice obviously restricted on a Sunday but what shocked me the most was the price! Couldn’t believe anyone could produce such an amazing Sunday roast for only £7!!! Huge home made Yorkie, 3 large slices of meat and generous portion of fresh veg- absolutely cracking dinner. We had a lovely afternoon, couldn’t fault the service, staff were great. Highly recommend this place
